5 reviews for Sew Top Cleaners
I wash my clothes every week, like one should. But, until about two months ago I was doing it myself. Washing, drying, folding. I really hated it, but I was afraid to trust a laundromat with my gear. Lost Items, over dried t-shirts, etc..
Sew Top, a little store front laundry service opened up on my block a couple of years back. I had been curious so finally I tried it. The people that work there are really nice. They do a really good job and fold better than I do.
I will never wash my own clothes again.

DO NOT go here for dry cleaning services. I brought Sew Top my $300 silk top to have it dry cleaned - there were a few minor spots, nothing out of the ordinary. I just got it back, and not only are all of the same spots still there, but my top is covered in black streaks! Their dry cleaning services are inexpensive - I wasn't expecting them to work any magic - but this should have been a very basic job. It would be one thing if my silk top came back looking the same or similar to how it looked when I dropped it off, but it came back RUINED. I'm not saying that their wash-and-fold laundry service isn't reliable - it seems from the reviews of this place that it's great - but I needed to write this so no one makes the same mistake I did with bringing their dry cleaning to Sew Top.
I can't speak to the cleaning services, as I do all my laundry myself, but they do some of the cheapest and best tailoring that I come across. I'm short, so every pair of pants I have automatically needs to get hemmed, and the pants they've done for me have been perfect every time, unlike some of the more expensive places. I can't say I'd go here if I didn't live across the street, but for $10 tailoring, it's not bad at all.
I'm new to New York and and yelp has been great to look for advice on where to go ,eat, drink, services to use..,,i.e UNTIL Sew Top Cleaners. I've tried about 5 cleaners in the area and I think that they are the worst...all whites came back dingy and blacks faded beyond belief. Cannot use most of the clothes that I sent there, except as rags. Never again.
thanks michael d! this place is great. they are really nice, have a quick turn around, and do a good job. basic, no frills, and clean.
