10 reviews for Seviche
I'm Louisville just for a bit. I was invited to dinner with some friends and their work friends. They were doing a special "Taste of Uruguay" where basically everyone in there gets the same meal, 4 courses with a wine pairing.
Muy deliciioso as Dora says. My favorite was a meatball with a citrus tomato sauce dish. The citrus was quite shocking and a pleasant surprise. I forgot the wine it was paired with but it melded symphonically with the dish. The Ahi Mahi tuna dish was also delicious.
Odd thing is that we sat across from the bathroom and one had a woman decal only and the other had a man/woman decal. Obviously one woman's and one shared. But for some reason men kept going in the woman's only one. We kept busting the men as they came out. Hilarious. These old dudes were pretty embarrassed.
Me gusta Seviche! This Latin inspired restaurant has flair. Being new to the area we have been anxious to check out some of the talked about local restaurants. Seviche doesn't disappoint the taste buds.
For starters we had the obvious choice: Seviche. We choose the seviche special of the night. Can't remember the name but it was citrus, spicy and oh so good. There was snapper mixed in that gave it a little more substance. Following the seviche, we had a pear/walnut/spinach salad that was totally tasty and fresh!
I had the snapper and crab dish over rice. It was very good. My fish had flavor and was well cooked. My husband had a beef dish that was also good. Although, I'm thinking in Kentucky, medium rare really means rare because it was sure pink in the middle, but not inedible.
As for the ambiance, well, it definitely seemed to be going for the candlelit, romantic dinner feel. However the restaurant got to be loud and we were seated at a table that had a lot of foot traffic, so I was constantly having to scoot in to make room for people walking by.
Overall we had a great meal and I am sure we will dine here again to try a different mouth watering dish.
we went to Seviche for dinner after an exhausting 3day artfair. after 2 dinners of mediocre food, we didn't have great expectations. Seviche blew us away. we started with the Shrimp Ceviche, which had just the right amount of spice, the shrimp was perfectly done and good quality. the margaritas were outstanding! for dinner we shared a bottle of Malbec which had the perfect amount of black cherry and pepper. i had the churrasco with chimichurri over mashed potatoes, which was just fabulous (even the potatoes, i seriously think they must have been laced with crack they were so good). My husband had the fejaioba (sp?) which was also great. Another dinner companion had the fish with the crab stuffed cigar which was just perfectly done and obviously really good quality fish. the really great part is that the ceviche and wine were both half off, and the margaritas were $2
the only down parts, which aren't really big issues:
1) we were too stuffed to try dessert and didn't have a chance to go back before having to leave town.
2) Hall & Oates, really, i mean REALLY?, at least at our request our waiter had the music changed
3) a few extra chips with the ceviche would be nice, we ran out before running out of ceviche
4) not the cheapest dinner, but well worth the cost imho
Great execution. Modest portions will be especially pleasing if you are looking for something very tasty but don't want to be stuffed to the gills.
One of the best restaurants in Louisville. Really wonderful fish and seafood dishes.
Nice atmosphere. It would be perfect for a romantic date night.
One of the best restaurants in Louisville, maybe in the US! Let me start by saying I'm pretty spoiled when it comes to good eats--dad being the gourmet and all, I have been very lucky! Who would've thought in Louisville that I could have one of the best mussels dishes EVER? I mean California quality good. I try to eat here every time I'm in Louisville. The only downside to eating here is deciding which items to pick! I usually get the tuna ceviche and the mussels--the broth with those mussels is so spicy and amazing, with ginger, cilantro and other fresh ingredients. Never had a bad meal here; great bar; the outdoor seating in summer is fab--and there are always people walking by (god, I love Bardstown Road). Seviche is so good, it may make you think you're in Europe...don't walk--RUN! The food is awesome!
Great tuna and soap!
I love this restaurant! They have the freshest seafood (thanks UPS)...and the actual seviche is tasty. I also love the fish tacos...mmm.
I always order two things here the, Habanero jelly nut encrustred brie, and the rocoto peper shrimp. The shrimps are no longer on the menu but they are always more than happy to make them.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in KY. I have only once ordered off the entree menu - usually we will come and order appetizers and seviches and eat tapas style. The chino latino tuna is also really really good.
Some of my favorite restaurants in DC are run by the chef Jeff Tunks. Seviche's chef Anthony Lamas trained under Tunks.
Oh yea - also the waters have cucumber slices in them instead of lemons. Very nice touch!
I give it a 3 1/2. The meal was good, but because the portions were so small, our party of four ended up ordering so many things that by the end of the night, our bill was quite large! But this was a fun choice for dinner to sample many different tastes.
