The food, service and brews were exceptional! I enjoyed "Conan the Destroyer", a doppelbock, and Champion IPA! Yumm. Fantastic fish sandwich and terrific onion rings. Many items on the menu featured "onion gravy", and my wife ordered Poutine-- cheese fries with onion gravy. They were delicious, and I'm sure very healthy too.

The beer at Seven Barrel Brewery is very good. The food, however, was not very impressive. They had a special for the Haddock Sandwich and a pint of beer for under 10$, so I couldnt resist. Dont get me wrong, this place is definitely a decent value and if I am in the area I would stop in. However, if you know of a better location nearby for food would recommend going there first instead and then back here for the beer.
(Note: In all fairness, checking their website it looks like their menu has changed. The food therefore may have improved.) -

Been going here for years, great bar food, good beer made on site. Not sure if they still have live music like they used to...?

Tasty, reasonably priced, and really friendly wait staff. I had the red 7 and the fish and chips. I'd definitely stop by again if I'm in the area.

Marzen and Maibock: both kind of like a light mild bitter maple syrup slightly tart
Quechee: skunky but light watery honey applesauce
Ice Rock Canadian: watery skunky slight tart similar to a weird Molsen cucumber
New Dublin Brown: more hoppy light porter
Red 7: smooth & light
Champion Reserve IPA: light bitter floral aromatic nice
Rip Stout: light mellow light bitter
$37.19 before tip for 2 flights, bangers (mild, should have been fully charred; fried onions a bit greasy), fish (perfectly fried, tender & juicy, frozen chips) n chips, pint of #7
The music is actually similar to what you'd hear on the Spanish Steps or a pub in Ireland--classic rock. Inoffensive unless you think some of them sound constipated (Feel like makin' love)
The beer is milder than our home-brews, but perfect for hot summer days. I've also decided that malt vinegar is similar to nuoc mam/fish sauce--stinky & pungent, but necessary for certain dishes
Pleasant service
It's across from an old motel that was converted into an antique-y strip mall, which is neat and weird.
The beers are odd--a bit light, mostly drinkable. Great for muggy days, but nothing too powerful. At the same time, I'm pleasantly buzzed after the pint+8 samples. -

Great beer. Love the Red #7. Some nice seasonal specialty beers on tap that are 6.9% ABV or higher and are worth a try! The stout was fresh and very tasty. Started out with the cream of mushroom soup which was very good. We had a burger with bacon and cheddar. It was cooked just right and also very good. .50 cent wings - we tried both the buffalo and the teriyaki and liked the teriyaki best.
No need to say we'll be back - this is one of our regular stops. We like the staff, food and most of all the beer! -

On a meandering road trip, we found ourselves near Lebanon at 9:00 on a Sunday night and hungry. Our pickings were slim, and Seven Barrels served food until 10:00, so we headed there.
We were so pleased with the place! The menu was huge, so the boyfriend and I each got exactly what we wanted, despite those being diverse items: he wanted a steak dinner and I wanted a veggie burger.
I was really happy with the veggie burger. I had expected it to be a pre-made veggie burger, but it was a delicious homemade black bean burger. (A word of warning, though: it came slathered with some sort of sauce that was like tartar sauce with capers in it. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't crazy about it. I scraped most of it off.) I also got the sweet potato fries, which were tasty.
I should note also that the service was great. Our server was so friendly and helpful! -

First... The menu. Here, the theme is British. I know what you're thinking... "British? Food?" Well yes. Bangers and Mash. Cockaleekie pie. Toad-in-the-Hole. Steaks... Well, the food is better than you'd expect from the choices, but it's not terrible.
But this is a brew pub, so what about the beers? They beers are very good. From Old #7 to their Stout to their specials...
I stop here regularly on my way to/from Canada, so don't let my three star rating stop you.
Good food. Good beer. Solid three stars. And recommended. -

I am kind of surprised by the reviews here because I had a great experience. The owner poo-poo'd my request for the Cherry Brown Ale confessing that it was just syrup in the bottom of the glass. Instead he brought me a taste of the home-brewed winter ale. It came at the perfect temperature and had a nice, nutmeg wintery taste. I had two with my meal. I ordered the nachos and thought they were very tasty. Instead of ground hamburger, they used chopped sirloin which made for a hearty chili.
The owner was our bartender and he was super friendly, sent us on our way with a couple growlers and we will definitely be back the next time we pass through for a ski trip. -

Another stop during the "must try major restaurants near Hanover tour."
It's not surprising that this place doesn't get much hype from the local students.
Food was unimpressive. Pub fare was lacking. On top of all of that the beer was subpar. A disappointing trip to a place that held so much potential from the outside architecture. -

Wow, bad experience here. The food was boring, ambiance nothing special. There was an angry customer when we arrived and it wasn't being handled well. We won't go back, too many other good options in the area.

Here's the setup: I was working a beer event up in VT and after a few hours outside in the rain I decided it would be a good idea to go get something to eat and drink inside - you know - out of the rain. Yup, I'm a pretty smart fella sometimes. I asked around for something close to my motel that didn't suck and wasn't a Chili's and I kept hearing ' 7 Barrel' ' 7 Barrel'. So, to make the little voices stop I decided to head over with my group.
Don't let looks fool you, this place looks like a bad country western restaurant from the outside. Well, it is for the most part a bad restaurant but what it really is happens to be something far beyond northeast cowboy kitsch - a ass kicking brewery.
In all fairness this is OK to pretty good food but the serving times are really slow (this place is hoping on a Saturday night). Nothing too crazy on the menu but they do offer some old timey stuff like 'Toads in a Hole'. I literally waited over an hour for a BLT while the people next to me got their steaks in 20 minutes. No joke. But the bartender noticed this, apologized and let me try pints of all their beer for no charge while I waited and we both agonized over the status of my tardy BLT.
I have to say, their beer really kicks ass. My personal favorite is the Canadian Lager and the RIP Stout, but the Irish style red and the IPA were pretty memorable as well.
I have to say if you don't mind waiting (or not) for a sandwich and want to try some really good, unheard of regional beer check out 7's. -

This place had a great atmosphere, and talk about easy to find, it is literally right off the interstate in West Leb. Very friendly waitstaff. Check out a sampler, the beer was very good and I'm sure you'll find something to suite your taste. We didn't eat while here but they did have a good looking menu and i would not hesitate to stop in for a meal next time I'm in the area.
Growlers available to go. -
Review from John B.
Philadelphia, PA
The beer is very inconsistent here. It's nice and hoppy, full of flavor one day; then it's watery, worse than bud another time.
But I like their bangers and mash. One of the best I've had in years. It's amazing to think that a little place in NH would be better at making bangers and mash in pubs that are owned by Englishmen elsewhere...but it's true. If you come here and you like sausages, get their bangers and mash.
Other than that, their food is average; I'd probably give about 3.5. Their meatloaf is inconsistent. Some nights it's dry; some nights it's perfect. Other food is nothing to rave about. -

Sat at the bar yesterday. Friendly service, clear that locals were treated right. Bartender gave a good recommendation for the black bean burger, not something I usually get when I ask, so I went with it. While the texture was kindy of mushy, I do appreciate that the burger appeared to have been made in-house, with real spices. Fries were crisp and not greasy. Enjoyed their oktoberfest with my meal.

We visited for dinner on a Sunday evening, so the place was slow, as would be expected. Oddly, the service was also rather slow. The assortment of ciders is impressive and they had decent veggie options, though the vegetable roli poli I had was unimpressive. The onion rings were also VERY doughy so be forewarned.
It was decent food at decent prices in a decent atmosphere. Good enough for a pit stop on the drive home from Rumney, which is what it was for my crew. -

Seven Barrels, you know what your problem is? You are inconsistent. Yup, you are. It's like going on a first date and being enchanted. You gladly say Yes! to the second date; but come up for air scratching your hair and asking, "what did I ever see in this guy?" Deciding to give the man a chance to redeem himself, you say yes to the third date...and you get my drift.
The other reviewers are right. This place is nothing much to look at. BUT, (1) the micro brews - in an area known for its micro brews - are quality; (2) on occasion, the food can leave you salivating for more; and (3) if you just so happen to come in on the right day, at the right time, the service is exceptional.
I still ask my mom to try to recreate a meatloaf that we had when she came to visit me in Vermont one fall. We were served a meatloaf layered with hickory bacon and wild mushrooms, with real mashed taters (OMG, the taters!) and lovely roasted brussel sprouts (yum, sprouts!).
If 7 Barrel's consistency had ever improved, I'd mark the Brewery up, in the meantime...
Here's hoping you step into 7 Barrels on a day when all the stars align and that you emerge after a meal that leaves you enchanted with this Ugly Duckling. -

I did not eat here, so did not have a chance to see what people were complain about, but I did drink here. The interior is not so bad.. It is all hard woods and looks kinda like a ski lodge. You do not see that too often in NY so I like it.
The beer was ok with some interesting choices. The bartender was also very nice, and it was not too busy there. They had a pretty strong cider that I was drinking too. Wacky NH laws prevented me taking home a growler after 11pm. -

This is a perfectly good alternative to fast food when on a road trip in Vermont or New Hampshire. The beer is not great, considering that it's a brewery, but the food is delicious. On a recent stop I had the fish and chips (with excellent sweet potato fries) and my partner had a fish sandwich. We both left satisfied and it didn't break the bank.

I actually found this place completely by accident on a trip to Vermont a year and a half ago and it's become a destination for me when I'm in the area ever since.
It's usually very quiet when we stop in and they usually just one waitress to be found, but I like it. The brew their own beer and it usually seems fresh and distinct. I think the food has been great and they usually have some nice american comfort dishes on the menu. I don't always expect to see Shepherds pie, meatloaf, etc that are good in a remote microbrewery, but they do a good job. I know I'm forgetting some of their stuff, but they have some good specials periodically.
While food and beer snobs may find it merely average by the standards of a major city I think it's probably one of your better choices in the area. Give it a try- a solid 4 out of 5 for me. -

When posed the question - do you want to go to the 7 Barrel Brewery? Your answer, despite its faded exterior, should unequivocally be: YES!
This place is fantastic, I do not hand out the 5 Star rating, this one was earned. There are only a few places that I will go to two days in a row, this was one of them. After seeing it after coming back to the hotel from a show, I decided that night to stop over and get some "oat-sodas". I walked in expecting what it looks like, a run-down beer joint, trying to be a saloon and failing badly. Turns out, the inside was wicked nice! The ceiling is painted nicely with faux plants and latticework. The thrust-type bar is inviting a clean with plenty of also clean stools. The floor was not covered with empty peanut shells, as one would assume there would be from the outside, but was also well kept.
One of my favorite reasons to like this place is the fact that they have confidence. They do not serve other beers (at least not on tap), which is awesome. They feel, and rightly so, that their beers are good enough for all tastes. In fact, they have 8 different brews, and a hard cider to choose from. I ended up falling in love with their Championship IPA and their Red #7. Turns out that they also have great food there too! that night I end up having Duck Potstickers, at a bar, mind you, and not a nice thai joint.
This caused me to return the next day for lunch and more beers. I got their Chili Burger, to regain my manliness from last night's selection. The burger was very tasty, a good sized patty covered with cheese and tasty chili, it was a good move, and their fries are wonderful too!
I could go on for quite some time singing this place's praises, but I shall not. Instead I will leave you with this - COME AND DRINK HERE! THE BEER IS GOOD AND THE PRICES ARE FAIR!!! -

I like to think of myself as a generous reviewer. If you take a look at my profile, you'll see most of my posts are for 4-5 star restaurants. So consider that when you note I've rated this place with 2 stars.
We came into this place for lunch with 3 adults and 2 kids in tow. I don't have much to say about this place except that the food was unimpressive and the beer was actually pretty bad. THAT is surprising for a brewery. Both the men in our party opted for a sampling flight of the breweries best beers and the result was poor. 2 of the 8 beers actually tasted like they'd gone South!
So, if you're in the area, I would pass this place by. -
Review from Tristan H.
Cambridge, MA
Nothing special. The food was actually decent, which was unexpected based on my initial impression. I had fish and chips that was pretty standard and appetizing. The beer is so-so - I had an amber ale of some kind that really had nothing going for it except too much bitterness for its flavor (or lack thereof). The service was great, but there was almost no atmosphere, three or four tables full--on a Monday night in Lebanon I guess that's to be expected, but it didn't help much for the experience.
Maybe it's better as a hangout later in the week, I'm not sure. As a place to grab a bite, it wasn't bad. Unfortunately I can't recommend it as a destination to try the beer - not with so much great Long Trail and Harpoon just a short distance away - though I definitely support the small brewery and recommend giving it a try. -

This place was a great find.
A friend and I were road tripping to Montreal with a planned detour to the Magic Hat Brewery. As we were exiting the highway into West Lebanon our expectations of finding a great place for lunch were pretty low. But when I spotted this place I knew based on the name that we would have to try it.
I ordered a pint of their delicious brown ale, and my friend ordered the sampler of 7 different tasting size brews.
Anytime I am with in an hour of this place I will be back.
For lunch I ordered the turkey club, it was great. Fresh turkey, lettuce, tomato, bacon and pesto on a warm and crispy ciabatta type roll. My friend ordered the buffalo wrap and a pint.
Great prices and quality.
The staff was very friendly, I was checking out the brewery and the brewer came over and talked for a few. -

If this place just had beer I would give them four stars, but the food, service, and atmosphere is poor. IF you want a better beer/ pub I recommend the Harpoon Brewery in Windsor, VT (abt. a 20 minute drive down I91 to exit 9. ).

Whenever I visit my family in Vermont, I stop over the border in New Hampshire and get my barrels fix. Their beer is *AWESOME*, they have a huge menu with some tasty options, and very friendly service. Their bartender, Chantelle, is an absolute gem. Definitely check this place out if you are in the Upper Valley area!

I did not like their beer. I ordered a sampler and couldn't find a beer I liked. I have been to amillion breweries like this and usually love all the beers (except the stouts and browns) butthi place just missed it for me. The food was ok. Overall, I wan't amazed.

I came for a couple drinks to celebrate a friend's bday on Friday night at about 10:30. They don't have a large selection but I really liked everything I tried - a brown and the light Canadian beer. The bartender was great and I never had to wait for a beer. Unfortunately they don't have live music anymore so apparently this has made the bar a lot quieter. I would definitely come back here the next time I'm in the area.

A cheap hotel from priceline landed me in White River Junction for a very rainy night. What to do in a small town (population under 3000) past 5pm? Dinner at the local micro brew seemed like a good (and one of the only) choice.
First, the decor is bizarre. It's a mixed bag of framed Maxfield Parrish prints, forest green grandma wall paper, lace curtains, hearty wood booths, and cheap Halloween party decorations. It could have been endearing if the service/beer/food was good, but no. The waiter never once made eye contact or exchanged pleasantries. Clearly someone who does not enjoy his job, or even tolerate it well. We sampled all eight of their beers. The only decent ones were the stout and IPA, but all the rest were far too watery and lacked cohesive flavor/flavor in general. What a disappointment! We ordered nachos off the appetizer menu. It was more like an after-school snack your mom would make for you in the microwave. It was a very meager portion, definitely not worth $9. We originally had intentions of staying for a few hours, hanging out at the bar, possibly ordering real dinner, but it was pretty clear after 15 minutes, there wasn't anything that was going to keep us there.
It seems like this place is so busy for lack of a better place, which is really too bad. They're giving micro brews a bad name! Honestly, I would've preferred eating fast food with a six pack of PBR in the hotel.

Excellent beer choices and better then average pub fare make this a fun place to go wherever it's for drinks with friends or a meal. Service is friendly and atmosphere is very cozy.

We needed dinner and it was around 10pm. It was Thursday night and we were thrilled their kitchen was still open. No one was in there, which was wonderful. Our server was a really nice and fun guy. We thoroughly enjoyed our food, as well as our beer. My husband loved his raspberry stout, and I enjoyed my Cherry Brown Ale. The heffeweizen was not very good though. We also ordered the Snickers cheesecake, and it was ok. However, I make to-die-for cheesecakes somewhat frequently, so my husband and I aren't exactly normal judges on this front. It's a passion of mine.
Overall, we had good food, good beer, and an amazing server. We really had a lot of fun. I look forward to the next time we get to go back here! It's the best place I've found to eat at in the Hanover/Lebanon area so far! -

The food is decent and the service is touch and go. Some visits we get good service, some we wait a while. The price is a bit high for pub food but the beer is good.

In an odd location in a strip mall. The space was poorly laid out, and the decor felt like leftovers from other establishments. The beer though was very good. And, the server, was no greenhorn and new about the beer and the history of this small brewery. Both the porter and the IPA were very good. Skip the food. But, do come for the beer.
