Let me just start by saying that the wings are TO DIE FOR. There's so much sauce, and they're really well made. The flavors of the sauces are a little suburban and outdated, but as far as wings go, they rock.
Now the service is something else entirely. It's completely hit and miss. The first few times I went, it was good. Went back post-21st birthday and was appalled. The waitress ignored us 3 or 4 times, and had trouble bringing the Long Islands we ordered. When she finally did, they came in plastic glasses and were entirely too heavy on the vodka. We also ordered shots, and even those came in plastic glasses! What the hell?
They have a great concept for a bar, but it needs some fine tuning. The sad thing is that because of where it is, no one cares that this place has no standards. :/ Good wings if you can get 'em, though. -

You know when your memory confuses quality with nostalgia? It's sad. You remember something being so good, and then you go back and wow...it's just. Not good at all. Pretty gross.
Our food was cold, our waitress was not-so-nice (but really good at refilling beverages) and it was just..skeezier than I remember. -

Something about a good old dive bar. Now this one is north of 694 so pretty much what I expected from the place (I have this theory about places and things north of 694). I had heard that they are known for their wings, so what should I order? Guess I'll try the wings.
Well they have about 50 flavors so the choices aren't to simple. I wanted something spicy without making my mouth bleed for a extended period of time so I chose the Cajun Wings. They were a one out of three star. Also ordered some fries to complete the experience. Now the ribs came and were very well cooked, Fries were also very well done. The wings though were a little light on the flavor, now I didn't want super spicy and I guess that is what I got. How can I complain.
My only beef would be the little things (see Buffalo Wild Wing review). 1st off the fries were from a bag. I don't understand why any place would choose to use premade fries. Let's leave out how much more money you can make by cutting up a bag of spuds, the fresh cut are just so much better. Second would be the fact that although they are a wing place and have put a lot of thought into the sauces they brush on the wings, they give no thought to the sauce you dip the wings in. Man why can't places make a dipping sauce? Build some flavor on something that is easy to control, blue cheese dressing.
Almost forgot, the service was great. Served by the bartender which can be a problem but she was all over it. Very good service!
I plan to go back and try more of the wings, I'll go for more of the 2 and 3 star sauces and look forward to it. I'll probably get fries again and may even hang around for a while. Love good old dive bars!

One word: yikes.
I did not care for the food. The pizza we ordered, the super bacon cheeseburger pizza, was anything but super. They topped the pizza with pickles, the cheese was quite bland, and the crust had absolutely no flavor. Now I'm not a picky eater, I'll eat anything, but it reminded me of Jack's Bacon Cheeseburger pizza...you know, the frozen pizza?
Secondly, the service could be better. The waitress did not listen very well to what we wanted -- she screwed up my husband's drink order -- and when she came around to ask how the food tasted, she left before we could respond. She did not seem genuinely interested in us, which was surprising since we were the only ones there.
I have to say, I'm very disappointed in Serum's. Perhaps I just lucked out and people had better experiences, but I did not like the service or food. I'm sure I will return again since this is husband's "childhood" restaurant, but I can't say I'm looking forward to it. -

I went to watch my favorite local cover band, Teacher's Pet. I didn't try the food, so I cannot comment on that. The service was ok, not bad, not great.
This is a great place to listen to live music. I'm headed back this Saturday to see Teacher's Pet...maybe I'll try the food. -

If you love spicy chicken wings, serum's is where its at!!! people that say bww is better, just think that because they havent had serum's wings yet! they are seriously my favorite!
its a busy place though. make sure you have time to wait for a seat if you are there at night or on the weekend.
the service is less than to be desired though. i literally had one of the waitress' tell me that it was her first night the last time we were there. NOT A GOOD IDEA! she had no idea what beers were on tap yet (btw, they only have like 5 beers on tap, NOT THAT HARD TO MEMORIZE before you get out on the floor!) , and she took 20 min to bring the beers to us. all the while, i saw her roaming around with a dumbfounded look on her face. it was ridiculously busy that night, and she was wandering around staring off into the distance. now, i realize, it was her first night working...but that isnt too far off from the veteran waitress's that i've seen there many many times. they always have way too much going on, and take forever for everything!
in the end, the food is always worth the wait, but sometimes you just want to be served in a timely manner.
