I came across Serene Max during SpaWeek and found Daria. She is amazing!
As a former esthetician, I thought I knew a fair amount about skin care. Boy, was I wrong! Daria educated me on the difference between IPL and focused laser treatments and choosing which would be appropriate for my skin. She also advised about a treatment regimen and the difference in results of going ahead with the treatment now (while I had a summer tan) versus when the tan faded. Daria is so knowledgeable and truly wants to get the best result for each client. How refreshing of a business model is that?
I am happy with my first treatment and can't wait to see the results after I go back for my second! -

hands down 5 stars. So far the best spa I've ever tried in Manhattan. Clean, not gigantic but nice and comfortable rooms and most importantly, WONDERFUL RESULTS AND SERVICE.
The lady who did my spots removal treatment took really long time to carefully explain about procedure such as side effects, costs, results, and so on. I forgot her name but she seems to be the owner of that spa.
In fact, as she said, my face got lots of black spots after the treatment. But it calmed down in 3 days, and my spots almost all disappeared in 5 days(today)!! Still have a spot left (since it was the biggest on my face), but look way better now.
I actually wanted to write the review about my wonderful experience(her service and the spa itself), but an ultimate pragmatist, I wanted to wait to see the result (this is a spa after all and you come here to expect some improvement of yourself, right?). And it turned out to be perfect!! Even my coworkers realized the difference...!
Honestly, the pictures on their website were not really helpful and I hesitated a bit to come here since I couldn't imagine the result or treatment (turned out to be all good though!).
it'd be great if they could post additional pictures for each treatment..!
For my treatment, around $210 incl tip and tax and treatment (also turned to be the cheapest among all the spas I inquired) and heard you can get discount if you buy the package of 3 treatments. -

I've had mild-moderate cystic acne since I was a teenager. It's cleared up and various points in my life, mainly because I was on birth control, but I recently had a really horrible flare-up due to getting off BC, going through a breakup, and stressing about my living situation.
My friend recommended Serene Max because she went there through a SpaWeek special for lasering off her freckles. I went just to have a red spot looked at and the laser lady, Daria, told me about how the laser can help acne as well. I bought a package and have been 3 times now and I can see a difference! There are other factors too: I've had a couple micropeels from Gemvie (the spa/business that shares the location with Serene Max), I've gotten back on birth control, I've worked out the other things stressing me. But I can definitely tell that there aren't big sore bumps brewing under my skin and threatening to come out and scar. The old red marks from previous breakouts aren't gone, but my skin is smooth and I'm getting maybe one new small pimple each week or two vs. four or five big ones. Other people have noticed that my skin looks better, and after a few treatments, I can tell too!
Be warned that it hurts like hell. All this 'little pinch' business is so wrong, haha. The freckle/brown spot laser is just kind of uncomfortable. The vein one hurts a lot but it usually doesn't last long. But the acne laser hurts worse than my tattoo and is especially tough in the beginning when you have more sensitive spots and cystic bumps. Now that mine are starting to dry up, it doesn't hurt quite as much, but it's still sort of a harrowing experience. But worth it!
It's a little expensive. It's way more than I've ever spent on myself or my skin. But there are packages that make it more affordable, and to me it's been totally worth it because it's working! And while I'm going every three weeks to a month now, Daria says that I won't have to continue that forever. It takes maybe four to six times to help clear what's going on, then after that she said I should just come in every three months or so. I like Daria because she always remembers me and what we did last time, and she gives good personalized advice about what to do for my skin. I don't feel bad paying so much for the services because I'm so excited to have found something that actually works! -

I originally wrote a review on Gemvie Spa, but it seems that Seren Max is the laser part. I haven't tried their other services, but would highly recommend Daria for laser hair removal.
I found them when passing by & noticed some cards/coupons for laser hair removal outside their door with a really great deal on laser. The picture was horrible - a lip covered half with dark, ugly hair. Almost made me not want to look into them. But the price was too good.
I had been to a couple of other places through SpaWeek- Tribeca, Completely Bare & had ok experiences. But the prices after were way too much.
I really liked Daria from the start. No nonsense, yet friendly. Put me at ease. In the end I had my underarms, brazilian, and lower legs done. Yes, there are some areas that definitely are NOT fun... but for the most part it is not painful at all. And those not fun areas aren't fun when waxing either.
I've been there 4 times now & there seems to be just a bit of fuzz left - but I think I'm the only one who notices them.
I would highly recommend Daria - and have to several of my friends. I booked 6 sessions so that I could get the reduced price for all the sessions. And they weren't pushy like some (laser cosmetica turned me off because of that).
I think I've said it all. Whether you go here or somewhere else though, I highly recommend laser. It's been so great not to wax or shave! -
