have been coming here for years. my mini pinscher is turning 6 this year. love the fact that its very clean (dog park standards) and they're always re-grassing somewhere... whether its the big dog park or the little or even medium. on a plus when i was there this weekend, the little one (under 15 pounds) side they've expanded it! more room to run & smell! we just got another mini pinshcer, shes about 7 months old and this weekend was her first time. she had a blast! we will definitely be coming back on a weekly basis.. just so they can run around & be social. i've been to the dog park on riverside which was a bit tiny compared to this and to the one off mulholland. def did no like the mulholland one, because 1, its a b*tch to get to driving up the hill & second its not as clean (in my opinion)2, there's no separation. . i'm glad that sepulveda off leash park is a 10 min drive away from my home because its the best one within a 30 mile radius! :)

cons: parking can be a bit tight on the weekends, but there's plenty of grass to park on (even though you're not supposed to, but everyone does anyway) even with the a 5 star dog park.. and no crazy dog owners..!

If only my dog enjoyed playing with other dogs, would I have given this a 5 stars, but being that Athena the rottweiler would rather stay near me, than play with others makes it hard to review since Athena doesn't use the park to her full potential.

Regardless, a great place to bring your dog, especially if your dog is active!

We've been to a few different dog parks in the area (Muholland, Hollywood, Runyon, and Sepulveda) and this is definitely our favorite. It's the largest and (relatively) cleanest dog park of the bunch.

Our lab is medium sized, and really not interested in other dogs. She just likes to run, play fetch, and frequently splash the water bowls. Up until today I've taken her to the larger dog area, which is great because of the space, but she almost always gets hounded by dogs that are more interested in playing/sniffing/humping. So today we checked out the "timid" dog area, and it's perfect for her - that's where we'll be going from now on!!

Also, one thing I really like about this park is that its NOT overrun by dog sitters with a pack of 20+ dogs (which Mulholland is nearly every weekday).

This dog park is PERFECT! Thank you!!!

Love the fact that they: 1) Have parking, 2) have a fence so the dogs can go off leash and leaves me with NO worry taking him off his leash, 3) split up the sections of the park between little dogs and big dogs, 4) have friendly people come here.

I cannot rave about this place enough. I took a friend here and she absolutely loved it. My dog is so happy here.  He is a small dog and was attacked by a larger dog back in the day (not at this dog park) and I am just so happy I don't have to walk around with him making sure he doesn't try to avenge his past fight with a big dog.

Just here yesterday on a doggie play date with a friend. Been here...over half a dozen times.

***Beware, the are closed 7:00-11:00 AM FRIDAYS for maintenance. I was there this Friday and waited for about an hour. I saw over 6 cars turn away and another 6 lined up until the parking lot opened.

Location/parking: Use a GPS that pings your location. I find it easier that way. It's a good sized lot. I've never had trouble finding parking (but I also avoid the park during traffic hours). You can always park in the residential areas across the street but it's dangerous to jaywalk so make sure you use the crosswalk.

I've only been to 4 dog parks: Nate's Point (in Balboa Park, SD), Silverlake dog park, Griffith Park Dog Park and Sepulveda Basin Park. This is by far my favorite one for multiple reasons:

-Spacious: There are 3 sections. The largest section has no requirements/limitations but you'll usually see the large/XL dogs here. Next to it is a smaller section. It does require your dog to be under a certain weight and this park alone is probably as large as the Silverlake Dog Park. The "middle" section is on the other side of the parking lot (left looking in from the street). This is reserved for small or gentle dogs.

-Grass?: This has the most grass compared to any dog park I've seen. You'll even notice some areas would be sectioned off for reseeding during different seasons (whenever the grass season...don't ask me, all plants die in my hands). If you are lucky, your dog won't get too soiled after the park.

-Maintenance: This park is FREE. There are donation boxes at every section if you want to support it. There are containers to drop off plastic bags or take bags (though its usually empty). However, they are closed every Friday to cleanup the poop on the ground, empty the billion trash cans they have, and attend to grass if needed. They also have brooms? and a poop scooper next to ever trash can. Yes! It's clean for a DOG PARK. Reading the previous posts, no sh*t/urine Sherlock it smells like poop and urine b/c dogs do their business here. Don't expect to sit and have a picnic on the grass.

-Other owners: from the many times I've been here, the other owners are friendly. But really I don't go to a dog park to meet friends or find a date. As long as the owners watch their dogs if they attack, I'm happy. At any one of my visits, there will always be at least 40 people in the 3 sections combined. You're bound to find someone who isn't the world's nicest dog owner. And of course, owners who don't clean up after their dog purposefully or neglectfully.  Oh by the way, the last time I was here, I dropped my iphone. Luckily, 2 guys asked my friend and I about losing a phone and directed us to another woman at the other end of the park. THANK YOU!

Cons: The only bad thing is, my dogs are poodle mutts and dirt gets stuck to them easily. Every trip here means an hour of bathing and grooming afterwards. But this has nothing to do with the park  =D

This is the only dog park I like for one reason: respectful, non crazy dog owners.  Too bad I have to travel 30 miles to get here.  Well worth it to avoid all theeeeeeee crazies at the Laurel and Silverlake dog parks.

This place is great and very large.  Separate enclosures for different sized dogs and temperaments as well.  We take our English bulldogs at the timid dogs enclosure and feel comfy allowing them to roam around freely.  Many of the owners are responsible with the occasional owner who brings a dog that is not socialized well.  We haven't had any problems with the exception of last week when a man brought his aggressive dog into the timid dog section.  He left soon after his dog started to growl and attack the little dogs.

Overall we love this park and plan to bring our babies here every week.

When I think of dog parks, I think of the scene from Sex & the City where Charlotte's spaniel gets gang banged. With this in mind, you can see why I was a bit hesitant when the boy brought up bringing his beastie pit bull to the dog park. But when we arrived at this park, my fears soon melted away.

The enclosures are large and separated by temperaments and dog size. There are plenty of pooper scoopers for your pups poo and water spouts are available for your pooch to get a drink. Lawn chairs are placed strategically throughout the park for owners to sit back while their dog plays. It's a pretty nice set up.

The dogs we encountered were very well tempered.  There was alot of sniffing and tails wagged away. Thankfully, there were no confrontations or gang bangs. Our beastie pit was a bit clingy, but I think we will be back for another go.

Tip: Watch were you step. Not all owners make use of the pooper scoopers.

Took my chihuahua to his very first dog park yesterday... And I loved it!  My doggy, he kinda has to get used to it :)

I like how the park is separated by the size/temper of your dog.  As an owner of a 5 pounder, I get a little nervous seeing bigger and more aggressive dogs near my little one.  I also enjoyed the cute water area, the benches and chairs for the owners, and the abundance of trash cans so you can pick up after your dog.

I definitely plan on bringing my doggy back, if he's going to get socialized I feel like this would be the best place!

I like this dog park WAAAAYYYYY better than the one up near Laurel and Mulholland.  It's much bigger, flatter and cleaner.

The park is divided into three areas - one for big dogs, one for small dogs, and one that's supposed to be for "shy and timid" but I'm not sure it's really used for that purpose.

The only downside are some of the owners; on more than one occasion people have brought food into the park, which is not allowed - you never know when a dog will get food-aggressive - and they don't seem to care about the problems they're causing.  There have also been occasions when owners are not watching their "little angels" who are trying to dominate every dog in the park.  Those scenarios are not frequent, thankfully, and most owners are conscientious and polite.

They also have a low-cost vaccination clinic here on Sunday afternoons which is really convenient.

If you go here, be sure your dog is wearing its Los Angeles dog license, or one of the park rangers might come along and make you leave; all dogs in the park are required to be licensed and neutered/spayed.

The fact that it is a grass dog park makes it pretty good just for that fact. The people that come here are for the most part very kind and friendly. There are a few parks actually at this whole complex. There is a park for large dog, a park for smaller dogs 15lbs or less (the one I go to) and then a park for timid dogs (which I also go to).

It's better to go in the morning when it's not too crowded because after 5pm, it gets really packed.

The only thing I really don't like about this place is that there are owners who don't pick up after their dog and that there are owners that bring their non-timid dogs into the timid dog park area because it's always pretty empty and it much nicer than the other parks. I take my dogs to the timid section because they are actually timid but there are people who bring their dogs inside who absolutely shouldn't be there.

There is a lot of sun and all the dogs really seem to enjoy each other. My real problems are with the people.

this is a huge dog park.. i have gone since 2007. There are 3 different areas by how big the dog is.. although some people ignore that. I bring my  pugs into the mid size area.. had a hard time parking and since a long time ago i last went...sorry my little boys... it was noticeably smells of poop and urine.. i was very surprised how intense the smell was.. never use to be.. perhaps because there is hardly any grass anymore.. there use to be really big dog bowls for water and no more. just one little bowl.. it has gone down hill.. but still nice to have a place for the dogs to be social as well as the humans.. just pinch your nose!

Very spacious park for your dog(s) to come play with other generally friendly dogs.  As other reviewers have pointed out, small dog owners are somewhat oversensitive about other dogs play-wrestling, chasing, growling etc.  I have a small dog who LOVES to play and chase, and Ive had a few times there when other owners would pass ignorant judgement and say outloud to others really STUPID comments about myself (im unconventional looking) or my dog (he's not a common breed either), and discourage their dog from playing with mine because they see that he belongs to a heavily tattoed girl with a mohawk.  OK.  YOU AND I DONT HAVE TO LIKE EACH OTHER.  But if your dog's having a ball making friends with my silly-looking dog, that should not matter.  You're there for your dog to get some excercise and be social. not for hangout time on the high school quad.

My other bone to pick are the (mostly women) oblivious over social dog owners who cant take responsibility for their dog's bad behavior such as humping mine after IVE had to tell YOUR dog 'no!" and keep mine away, and just have "she's going thru a phase" or "she's a puppy" excuses.
but if my dog did it you would be all up in my face!

GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSES IF THIS SOUNDS LIKE YOU, BECAUSE THIS WILL ONE DAY HAPPEN WITH A DOG OR DOG OWNER WHO WONT BE AS POLITE AS I WAS.

Other than that, Its a nice park, and my dog has fun, which is really all that matters.

I've taken my dogs here a couple of times.  They have separate parks for big and small dogs.  Both sides have a huge area for the dogs to run around and plenty of chairs and trees for shade.

Pros: spacious, friendly dogs, friendly owners, and plenty of parking

Cons: there are always a lot of big dogs in the small dog side, the park is dirty dirty dirty.  The chairs are dirty and there is poo everywhere.  Apparently no one picks up after their dogs.  I have to constantly tip toe on the grass just to make sure I don't step in anything.

This dog park has a lot of potential but needs to have better maintenance.  Instead of having the scooping thing, maybe invest in dog poop bags.  Maybe that will help.

This is an awesome escape for my 1 year old Pit-bull.  Probably her favorite place to go play and run around!

There are three different areas for your dog.  The smaller east section is meant for shy, timid dogs.  Usually it's full of lazy owners that don't really keep on eye on their animals.  I try to avoid this area to avoid conflict with small dog owners that refuse to be responsible.  The west side of the park has two sections, the the smaller of the two meant for dogs under 20 lbs.  The larger area meant for all types of dogs.

The largest area is definitely my favorite for many reasons.

-It's the area with the most amount of high energy dogs; Pit-bulls, Boxers, Labradors.  High energy dogs need other high energy dogs to keep up with them, and my Pit (Shera) can go for hours.

-It's the area with the most amount of responsible owners, that look after their dog instead of gossiping on the park benches and chairs like the other two sides.  Owners on this side are far more interactive with their dogs, keeping their pets busy, thus less conflicts among dogs and just a better energy all around!  You don't get all sorts of doggy advice from hippies telling you to put your dog on a vegan diet.  (still can't believe that one)

-It has the most amount of well kept grass and plenty of community tennis balls to throw around.  It also has two different water bowl areas for you dog to drink.  The place is HUGE, plenty of open grass to run around, throw balls and Frisbees.  And did you say MUD!?  Yeah it's got that, trenches on the sides of the fence will with water.  Good thing my pup loves to run through that too!

The parking lot is fairly big, I've never had a problem finding a spot, even during busy hours.  I also don't recommended bringing any toys from home.  I've done it and I've spent the majority of the time trying to get the ball back from another dog, that doesn't obey as well as mine.  Stick with the community balls for this reason.

    My only pet peeves  LOL

-Keep an eye on your little kids.  Big dogs constantly run and jump around with each other and it's almost inevitable for your little one to get knocked over in the middle of the dog play.  This is a dog park, not a kid's playground!

-Don't bring food or snacks.  Creates conflicts and totally distracts the dogs of others.  Read the damn signs people!

-Smoking!?  Really!?  If you can't refrain from smoking for one hour while you exercise your dog, you shouldn't own one.  Please don't smoke, there are signs posted for that as well!

Great playspace for dogs. There is an area for big dogs, little dogs, and little shy dogs. There are plenty of seats for people and water fountains for dogs. There are also a lot of clean up tools and trash cans. People are friendly and their dogs seem very well behaved (could be different when you go).

There is a lot of space to be able to throw balls and frisbees long distances if you have a dog who loves to fetch.

I have a tiny purebred maltese girl and this was her first trip to the dog park.  She's socialized but is shy because she only weighs 5lbs and every other male wants to hump her, although I can understand.  Well in the small breed area (less than 20lbs), there were tons of small doggies running around.  After a little bit of time, my pup was flying around with all the other ones.  The weather was AWESOMELY BEAUTIFUL and made the day so much greater for both Ruby and I.

Take a dirty toy/ball, and a water dish (what they have is already too filthy) and you'll be all set for 45mins of fun.

This is as good a dog park as you'll ever find, with 3 separate areas for your pooches.   One area for the little pooches, under 20 lbs, which is normally crowded with people and dogs.  There is a mid-size/shy dog area which is not usually as crowded.   And there is a big dog area, 40 lbs and over which is a HUGE play area with tons of room to run.
While there are some maintenance issues with uncovered poop cans, missing scoopers and holes in the ground, these are minor considering the other parks, because this park has tons of GRASS to play on/roll in or just plain lay and be lazy in.    Be sure to help pick up the poop when you see it, not just from your dog only.
More issues will arise soon, as there was some overflow parking on the grass for the busier times, once or twice a week people would have to park on the grass, but now that area is blocked off.  I had to park across Victory Blvd. and run across that busy highway/street last night.   Soon someone and their dog will get killed crossing here and the people in charge will realize what a huge mistake it was to lose the over flow parking which has never hurt the grass, because it was so rarely used.
Yes, you will see on occasion bad people and bad dogs, but it's that way in real life everywhere now, where the few ruin the fun for the rest.  But for the most part people are super friendly, especially the ones watching and playing and interacting with their dogs.   Watch out for the "clicks", where groups of people cluster and sit and talk and pay no heed to their dogs.   These are the areas where you will run into trouble.   Kids are safe in the small dog and shy dog area, but use caution and your best judgement in the big dog area.
    I hope this review helps!

Great local place to take your dogs. I go to the timid area and it's mostly dirt now and less grass.  Some of the people don't follow the rules and bring food or take their aggressive dogs to the timid area which has been annoying experiences for me.  If you live in the area, this a great place to take your dogs and let them roam free.

This is the only dog park I have ever been to, so it is hard for me to really review it against any other dog parks, but I will do the best I can.

First things first, the parking lot is a little small, but I have always found a place to park.

TIP: DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS, POLICE COME THROUGH ON THE REGULAR AND TICKET PEOPLE WHO DO.

The people here for the most part are friendly.
The "BIG" dog park is huge, and the dogs have plenty of room to roam around like the furry idiots they are.

My dog being the most beautiful dog at the dog park * Golden Retriever * always gets the most attention, but then again she is an attention whore that goes up to all the other people there, and cares not for the other dogs. She doesn't even notice the other dogs, and when the other dogs come up to play with her, she just stares at them like they are retarded.

But then again that is how women treat me when I try to talk to them also, so go figure...

    Hmmmmmm...

I have noticed that once in a while there is some 'riff raff' that comes to the park with thier "look at me I am a tough guy dressed like a gangster and I have a giant pit bull on a studded collar"  but I have yet to have any problems.

Most of the doggy mommies and daddies are nice and get along.

There is a Small dog park also, I don't go in there because my doggy is to big. but it seems nice...

Then there is a Every size dog/timid dog dog area that is about 1/8 the size of the large dog area, but still have tons of room..

There are a lot of regulars in that area that are always happy to talk doggy with you, and I have come to know them, and thier dogs..

So yeah, It is a great place, I take Princess Liea there about 1x a week, if you see me come say hi!!!!

Until then, You dont love me, you just love my doggy style.

I like this off-leash dog park a lot. There is lots of grass and trees and the area for the larger/not-shy pooches is huge.

There are 3 different areas. The one for shy/timid dogs is closest to the entrance/exit and the one for dogs under 20 lbs and the area for larger dogs are side by side. If you have dog that likes to run/fetch then the sheer size of the large dogs area will be heaven for your pooch. And because the park is so damn big it doesn't seem as if its just a giant doggy version of a litter box. I totally recommend this park over Whitnall in North Hollywood. My only tip is that if you come in the mornings, there's a larger chance of your dog getting muddy and if that happens there is an area on the south side of the parking lot where you can hose off your dog.

Aside from the trash cans that hold all the dog crap being everywhere, I love bringing my 2 unsocial Chihuahua's to the dog park. They get chased around till they are drop-dead tired. So much to the point that we have to carry them to the car. I still don't understand why there is Lab's, Collie's, and Golden Retriever's in the small dog park, but whatever the reason being, they are. I have a 4lb. and 9lb. Chihuahua and any of those bigger dogs can easily step on my little ones and crush them. Unless the dog is like over 10 and moves slow, I do not agree with any big dogs being in the little dog park area. They start to run around and play rough with other dogs, probably not aware of their own strength and they can easily trample over one of the littler dogs. Does that mean I can hold the owner responsible? As much as I should and would, it's not likely. Even though they should not be in there to begin with, I doubt the owner is going to actually step up and cover any medical costs.

I just wish they would put the poop trash cans away from all the seating areas. No matter where I tried to sit (preferably in some shade) there was a trash can there. Goodness forbid someone needed to clean up poop and took the top off. And then when there's a breeze too (gags).

Suggestion: Do NOT wear sandals! And take your own bowl and bottle of water if your dog(s) should get thirsty.

I loved this place when we first started going a year and a half ago. We met some very cool and nice people (and doggies) here. It was a great way to socialize our puppy. And best of all, this is where he met his bff.  But now, he's bigger, and more independent, and prefers off-roading at Runyon or running away from the waves at the Dog Zone.

The dog energy can get tense here, and not all owners are as vigilante (obsessive) as I am. And if you're a loner like Watson, sometimes you just want to be left alone. Some of the dogs are a little too in-you-face.

Having said that, most of the people (and dogs) are very sweet and interested in their community.  The park is quite large and divided into three parts (small, medium and timid, and big). It's generally well taken care of thanks to the citizens' group that is dedicated to making this the best park possible for their dogs.

There are rules listed on the gate's entrance.  Please read before entering.  And for the love of dog, don't bring your puppy to the park until it has had all its shots.

Okay I love this place...it's a GODSEND for myself, my boyfriend, our 17 month old Mutt Bodee and 5 month old Great Pyr Aspen. The place is HUGE and there are 3 separate yards; Big dog (over 44lbs), Small dog(under 44lbs) and the Timid dog (any weight and nervous). We have only taken advantage of the Big Dog yard as our dogs love to run and play.

This is a true dog park though where dogs get to be dogs. My only 2 complaints are as follows:

    1. Many times people are either:
             a. too busy reading or talking on their phone to monitor their
dogs (i.e. - stop them from humping, cleaning up their poop,
or generally making sure their dogs are behaving)
              b. too OVERPROTECTIVE.....dogs play rough, and show teeth
and make growling noises, This DOES NOT mean they are f
fighting and some people here flip out if  they see their dog on
their (natural submission stance). Your dog will let you know
when it's too much and too rough...until then let them BE
                 DOGS!

    2. This place lacks maintenance. I know there is a guy that generally takes care of it and he does a  great job  but he's been out of town and with the recent rain and the refurbishment they've been doing the large dog area has turned into a mud bowl. There are still some areas that are great but every couple of steps at the entrance you find yourself in a swamp. It may be just my issue but my dogs love the mud and they love the chase the small dogs running the fence, so put it together and I leave the park with two dogs covered head to paw in mud......I'm all for dogs having fun but its a mud bowl and that is no fun.

Other than that I LOVE it here. You see people that are regulars and most of the time you find someone that is friendly and will chat you up if your dogs are playing. True pet people are good people just watch out for the people I described in 1. as those are not real pet people.

GO HERE and watch the mayhem unfold!

I read a number reviews here claiming how great thisdog complex is.  i drove ther from ventura county to check it out with my pug popeye.....2 words, its horrible.  unkempt landscaping  just looks ghetto,  no water outlets in any of the enclosures. water is a must every park supplys water, luckily i brought my own.  the furniture to sit on on is flea market and filthy..i was there for a whole 20 minutes.. someone wrote spacious, absolutely not.  The thousand oaks dog park is spacious.  never will go again.I guess people dont realize what a nice dog park is.

Hazel my miniature dachshund had a great time. I think. It was her first time. We stayed in the under 20 lbs dog area. For a Sunday early afternoon the place was buzzing. Nice people. Nice dogs.

After reading some of the reviews, I was a little apprehensive about mean owners and dogs. But, we didn't run into any. Everyone was very welcoming and warm.

The place didn't smell bad. I think owners did their best to clean up after their dogs. Place is good for kids, they get to see all the doggies. All in all great fun for the owners and the dogs.

The only thing I was disappointed was that the small dog area was the smallest of three park areas. But, it will do.

Check it out on a weekend, it's a lot of fun.

This was a great dog part for my to visit with my one and a half year old rescue terrier, Molly.

Molly is a typically friendly dog, but dog parks tend to intimidate her. I went with friends who own a larger dog so we went into the bigger area first. Yes, I was that person who brings their small dog into the big dog area. In my defense, Molly's best friend is my mom's German Shepherd and she's not afraid of big dogs when we go on our walks along the "river". I figured I'd give it a try. Well, it took about two minutes and I realized Molly wasn't ready so we headed into the smaller area with both dogs (their dog was easily between being a large and a small dog, so it was okay, I promise!)

The small dog area was great. The little dogs were for the most part well behaved and enjoyed playing chase along the fence with big dogs on the other side. My dog ventured off a bit, but tended to stay close. I think there was a bit too much energy and too many things going on for her to feel fully comfortable. Maybe next time we'll go into the timid dog area.

It wasn't crowded by any means and I EASILY found parking. Plus, it was clean and didn't smell of dog feces everywhere.

    Definitely a return trip!

only been here twice but it was definitely a fun experience.  separate areas for large dogs, small dogs, and timid dogs.  haven't had any bad experiences yet, but i've only been here twice.  dogs and owners have been friendly so far. everyone cleans up after themselves and is polite to each other.

I took my pug here for the first time today. She's known for being a terror in the neighborhood, so I was hesitant to bring her. I kept close tabs on her at all times, and she did great! She walked around, greeted people, let dogs sniff her, sniffed dogs, and sunbathed. The people there are friendly. One man with a pug encouraged us to take her off leash and offered to help watch her with us (3 people on one pug). She did so well! No aggression at all. It was a nice day out, and there is plenty of seating in the shade.

There are nice big spaces, shady areas, grass, water spigots, and plenty of trash cans for you to dispose of your dogs poopie.

The only downfall is that some of the small dog owners are a little sensitive. I guess you can expect that anywhere though.

I think this place is awesome! We bring our 10 month old Boxer (Packer, 50.5lbs) and 5 year old cocker-spaniel/Jack Russell mix (Mila, 22lbs) here.

The park is set up into three sections.  Small dogs under 20lbs, shy/timid dogs, and large dogs.  We take our pets to the Large dog area.

We've been visiting the dog park since March 2010, and it's been a great savior to our apartment living, since our girls don't get to run around to much at home.

We enjoy all the other owners we meet as well as their babies. Our dogs have made so many new friends.  Packer plays with almost everyone she meets and works off a lot of that puppy energy.

Mila is ball crazy and the park is large enough to toss around a ball without hitting anyone in the process.  We bring a ball from home, since its the only ball Mila will play with.  Watch out though, some dogs don't know the difference between her ball and a "BALL".  There are tons of community balls lying around, but if you have a dog like Mila where you have to bring her toy, keep and eye on it.  She lets it get stolen a few times every visit and you have to be willing to chase the ball stealer down.  Most of the other owners will try to get it for you, but some pets like to play "finders keepers."   We did encounter one owner though who wanted to refuse giving us the ball back.  I just kept on her dog tell I got the ball back.

We always have a fun time while we are there.  There are a few chairs around the area, as well as lunch benches that you can park yourself on.  I do recommend keeping an eye on your dogs for potty breaks or the occasional trouble situations, but for the most part, you can let them play as the want.

We usually frequent the area around 6:30pm - 8:30 pm during the weekday, and it's quite a busy time.  Still, like I said, there is enough room for everyone to have fun.

Last time we were there Packer and her twin, a 1yr  male boxer named JR, played the mirror game.  It was so cute, I had to take lots of pictures.

I especially love how when we come home my girls are down for the count! They pass out on the ride home and usually sleep till morning.

On the plus side, this is a HUGE park with plenty of actual grass (try to find that in many parts of LA!) and lots of friendly people and dogs for Mango to play with.

On the other hand, minus one star for:

    1. People not keeping an eye on their dogs and neglecting to pick up after them.

    2. People taking not so small or timid dogs into the small and timid dog sections.

Nonetheless, it's definitely the best dog park around.

    My bitch loves this park.

What this bitch doesn't love are the Nazis that bark at the owners of pets without their tags/licenses.

I know we need to have rules and regulations, but dang, no need to get feisty.  Let's leave that to the dogs.

    The Valley dog's social scene

Are you a pit bull?  Does your owner keep your coat perfect by not letting you wear a collar?  Do you seem friendly at first but then suddenly try to bite any beagle, dalmatian or retriever you see?
Then you must be hanging out at this wonderful dog park!

Except for pumpkin, almost every pit bull I have encountered here has a lame-ass owner.  Not to say that the only jerks here are the pit bulls or that all the pit bulls here are bad.  The aforementioned pumpkin and a handful of others are great friends to romp with.  I just wish there weren't SO MANY meanies here.
This park is large and sprawling, with a few trees and watering-holes to stop by, so there are places to get away and hide.

Lots of fun-loving dogs play here, too.   But sometimes it can be overwhelmingly full of dogs.  I grew up here, and as a young pup I had my fill of way too crowded Saturdays and weekday nights.  I liked it better when it was just me, a few rambunctious pups and the regulars that I learned to stay away from.

When it is not too busy this place is a great dog park.  It has it's share of crusty poo, mud and hot weather.   But a nice separate small dog area, big parking lot (that fills up and then some on the weekends), very large big dog area,  three faucets with bowls, and pretty decent grass make it great.  Did I mention that it was big?!

Go grab some tennis balls from Tams pet supplies near by and head here for some fun.

This is a great park for dogs. My girl and I bring our dog "Chopper" almost everyday. He absolutely loves coming here, and always looks forward to coming here because he gets all excited. It's nice to see him run around and socialize with other dogs. Other than that, the park has 3 sections: one part is the small dog park, the other is the big dog park, and the last section is the timid dog park which has both small and big dogs. We always bring Chopper to the timid section since he gets to socialize with both big and small dogs. Overall, its a great place, the people are friendly, as well as the dogs. We will definitely be bringing Chopper here for as long as we can :-)

I usually like to take my dogs to the park at least three times a week.  I have been to several dog parks in the south bay, but none compares to this dog park.  There are actually 3 parts to this park.  1 Big dog park, and 2 small ones.  The big dog park is huge.  Usually when I visit, I'm able to see 2 or 3 great danes in the park.  They weren't kidding when they said huge!

The only drawback to this park is that more of the people at this dog park don't seem to pick up after their pets.  It could be that the parks are so big that it's hard to keep track of their dogs?  .. Although that shouldn't be an excuse.  I always have an eye on my dogs.

The method used to pick up pet droppings in this park is a rake and a hoe.

UPDATE:  This dog park is big and lots of room to run around, but there are an increasing number of aggressive dogs.  I almost never taker my dog there anymore.

This park is the best dog park in Los Angeles.  It is also the biggest dog park within suburban areas in LA.

There are three parts: Big Dog Park, Little / Timid Dog Park, and under 20 pounds dog section.  Because the area is so free for anyone to come in during sunlight, you never know what kind of dogs will be around.  There is a park ranger who often comes with her dog to break up any potential trouble with aggressive dogs.  Generally, there are nice people who make sure their dogs are sociable before they bring them to the park where all dog owners have the common goal: to make new doggie friends.

I think I had more fun at this park than my dog did. Running around with all the little dogs in the "Under 20 Lbs" area, I felt like I was in doggie heaven with all the cutest pups frolicking about.

There really is something about pet owners who care to take their dogs to play with other dogs... Each and every single person there was so welcoming towards my pup and me!

Securely fenced in, this park is broken into 3 different areas. "Large Dogs," "Under 20 Lbs," and "Small or Calm(?)".

My Little Luna who runs about 11 Lbs had the time of her life with so much space to run about it. The owners in the small dog area are pretty good at picking up after their pooches. However, I felt like every inch of the big dog park was covered in poop so mummified, it resembled ash more than poo.

It's not as gross as it sounds though.

There are plastic bags handy if you need them as well as numerous garbage bins and multiple pooper-scoopers.

Also, there are random balls lying around to play fetch with.

Bring your own water and toys if you are worried about germs!

On a side note, I tried to take my little dog to the big dog park, since she has many big dog friends, and this guy told me a story about how large dogs may see your little dog more as prey than a friend... and they may possibly turn your little buddy into a rag doll.

So, I would suggest keeping small dogs to the small dog area or the calm dog area.

    Phew!

Anyway, it's fun! People are great! Aaaand your dog will have so much fun, he/she will be so pooped the rest of the day!

Everytime I go there, I see b*tches get in fights.  And I'm not talking about dogs.

I actually stopped coming here 6 months ago after two women went at it, cussing each other out and snapping pictures of each other on their cell phone cameras.  I tried again today, and sure enough, fangs were bared.

I don't know what happened, but I just heard a young, classy looking lass scream "well take your dog to the right side, bitch!"  at an older lady with a smaller dog.  I guess the older lady said something to the fine young lady about her dog playing too rough with her little dog.  Granted, Ms. Manners had a point:  if your dog is small and sensitive, he probably shouldn't be in the big dog section.  However, the older lady's dog was maybe just over 20lbs, so I guess I'd be confused as to which side to take him on.

Anyway, what's wrong with just saying, hey, maybe you should take your dog on the other side.  Dogs are dogs, they're gonna snap, growl, tackle each other, and maybe even try to hump each other.  No need to get all ghetto on somebody, even if they are wrong.

This never seemed to happen when I lived in Simi Valley and went to the Thousand Oaks dog park.
