Having missed out on the Sephora in Tokyo (it closed just as I relocated there), I was ecstatic to finally be able to shop at one without resorting to complex re-mailing schemes through my mom.

On my first visit, I am greeted by - and I sh*t you not - the scariest made-up lady on the planet. I was speechless so when she asked if she could help me, I just nodded, unable to string together a "no thanks, just looking". Seriously, you may want to get a second opinion on your own make up if you are about to sell me any.

As for the other staff, they are either ignoring you or too pushy. And some of them are WAY too enthusiastic at the door greeting bit to the point where I actually broke out into giggles when I tried to say hello back. Seriously, cut down on the cheeriness if it's before noon. Some of us are still trying to sleep walk.

There are some nice people working there, just hit or miss. Mostly, miss.

Having said all that...it's still Sephora and well, some brands you just can't find at Nordstrom! I go there as much as I can given my "between jobs situation". For those who complain about the customer service, seriously just skip it and say you're only looking. If you really do need help on something, just be firm with them and say NO. Go ahead, go to your mirror and try it now, a big firm NO. Feels better, doesn't it?

To Rocelle S., seriously that lady was on crack, sorry to hear about such a bad experience. Strivectin is pretty hardcore for an 18 y/o, wait til you're at least 25-28 before delving into preventative care (if you care about that kinda stuff).

sephora schmora.  don't hire ugly zit faced boys to work at your store.  doesn't look good for you (it's like your products aren't working???).  or maybe it was just his stank attitude.  do you sell stank attitude deodorant?  your employees aren't very welcoming and they hover over you like lurch from the adams family.  OH! and when you offer your frequent purchase card, will you make sure YOU all know how to use it?  yeah, it's probably why your lines are so long.  i was there, in line, and witnessed the 2 people in front of me trying to "update" the info YOU all messed up on.  so when it was FINALLY my turn, whaddaya know?  the same thing happened to me!  at least you're consistent?

whatevs.  i gave you 2 stars, cuz i'm sure you're capable of getting your HELPFUL and FRIENDLY customer services skills together at some point.   right?

I'm sort of the Tom Boy, I don't really care how I look when I go to the mall. Well I will tell you about both my experiences here. The first was when I was dressed hashed, a shirt and basketball shorts with slippers. When i went inside, I was greeted, however, no one helped me. No helped me choose anything. Its as if they assumed I had no money. But believe me I had money to spend...

The second time sort of pissed me off. This lady working the STRIVECTIN counter. First of all do not buy this product. It is a waste of money for 100 cream for your face?!!! Well, this japanese lady she was pushing us to buy the dumb cream. She said she was a 'skin specialist'. And she could tell by the 'look' of me that I was a combination skin type. Like I didn't know that already. She told us she was the best 'manager' of the business, also that she goes 'around' to other stores. She was also a hand model, and foot model because of the 'cream'. Well, she was pressuring my cousin and I to buy the cream. I was hesitant because YES! I am only eighteen, why the hell would I need a 100 dollar face cream. 2nd she said it was to rejuvinate our skin because it was sagging. Mind you, my cousin is in her early twenties and me being only eighteen this pissed me off. She later then talked about how the 5 oz. cream tube was a year supply?? And she said that if she sells out of the 3 products she has left she will not get a shipment till December. She said a lot of tourist are buying this blah blah blah. Well, she made us stay there listening for a good 20 mins. about rubbish. Trying to sell us whatever she had. I was sort of pissed off by now. Well, she gave my cousin a sample and failed to give me. OH this is the good part. When she found out that my cousin didn't have money and that I had money she switched gears and tried to pressure me into buying her dumb product. Saying ohh this will run out blah blah blah not found anywhere. Well, needless to say, I stood my ground and didn't buy it. This is the good part...well, when I walked down the store aisle. I SAW ABOUT 20 of the stupid boxes lined on the wall's edge. I WAS SO Pissed off.. that lady lied. What I hate most is liars.....Stay away from this sephora all they want is your money!!

ALSO, the time I was dressed all hashed, the lady had nerve to say "OH who are you buying this for? Is this a gift?" Furious I answered, "No, its for me"
JEEZ just because you work at the makeup counter doesn't mean you can make assumptions.....BLEH

I used to come here for my makeup needs, until I began breaking out into these horrible rashes all over my body.  I stopped going many years ago.  Why the five stars?  Because a month ago I had an unrelated rash that wouldn't disappear.  I tried everything, but nothing worked.  Finally, I rubbed some Sephora eye shadow on the afflicted area and the rash went away.  The lesson: Sephora will cause rashes, but cure pre-existing rashes.  Whether causing or curing rashes, Sephora is reliable, and that's worth five stars to me.

I used to love Sephora but recently, their customer service has really sucked. It sucks so much that I stopped visiting the store...well, until the other week when they sent me a 15% discount coupon. Haha! I used to think that Sephora had excellent customer service up until about a year ago or so. Now if I ask someone for some assistance, it's like I'm bothering them. I seriously wanted to punch this one girl's face in after asking her for a hair product recommendation. She condescendingly said to me, "It's really hard to recommend something if I don't know what kind of 'look' you are going for." I told her to forget about it and she walked away like she was relieved. I wonder if it's just the economy getting everyone down...

Anyway, go to Nordstrom. The customer service there is always excellent!

It would be helpful if there was a sign by the registers facing the front doors that the line starts at the opposite registers.  I had only half an hour for lunch and was waiting in line already when I was told that the line starts "on the opposite side."  Although I was offered to have my items to be held, I was not buying anything.  I was returning merchandise.  I had to leave without doing my transaction.

I came here the past several weeks and I was always greeted by a worker. The workers tried to help me as much as they could and I think they knew their products pretty well and gave me some makeup tips (as I'm a beginner at makeup...late bloomer.) They gave me a lot of samples of products to try out before buying because makeup and other stuff they offer is kinda expensive.

Months ago I went to the Pearlridge location where a worker "pushed" me to buy an Urban Decay powdered foundation. When I went to the Ala Moana location, a worker told me the color she recommended to me was actually 2 shades too light. She let me do an exchange and I didn't even have the box or receipt with me. I was so thankful that she was completely honest about the other workers mistake and fixed it at no charge.

I do like Sephora, but unfortunately have been disappointed with my last few trips to the Ala Moana branch.  This past weekend I shopped at Sephora and didn't like the fact that I was pounced on by a make-up artist in practically every aisle that I walked.  I found myself dodging the workers to try to get to my section of interest.  It was quite frustrating.  The cashier wasn't the friendliest either.  The next time I'm out shopping for one of their products, I'll definitely make sure that I hit their Pearlridge branch instead.

Sometimes I come here just to look, sometimes I buy. I love makeup but I don't wear that much yet I continue to buy...I guess it's just part of my shopping addiction.

Although you can test all of their makeup, I never do 'cause I have a thing about germs and I don't trust other people's hygiene and habits. They supply disposable mascara wands and eyeshadow applicators but you're only supposed to touch it with the makeup once. I highly doubt that people do this so it's like double dipping into a pot of lip gloss replete with germs and bacteria. I do however, like to sample the perfumes.

The staff is usually friendly. I haven't had any problems with them. They don't really bug you too much either, which I like. If you're signed up for the Beauty Insider card, you get a little sample everytime you reach 100 points. They don't look like much but I've discovered a lot of great products from those teeny samples. Even if you don't shop there a lot, you should still sign up for the card...it's free.

I never appear at the mall without stopping by to apply some Dior lip gloss, and maybe some urban decay green eyeshadow.  E never fails to come out without smelling like Tom Ford.  Sometimes we even buy stuff (after months of using, I felt it was only polite to get some Iced Latte lip gloss of my own, as I am obviously obsessed with the stuff).  I love this store.  From skin care to foundation to brilliant green mascara, if it's not here it's probably hard to find elsewhere.  You can literally test all of the products, and you don't have to deal with pushy salespeople!

Sephora is cool. At first the smell was too strong for me, but you get used to it. Sometimes I like walking in there just to look at all the makeup I'm not going to buy...and put on the glitter thingy all over my body so that I come out of the store all SPARKLY! LoL.
