    9/1/2011 Purchased a Yelp Deal 1 Check-in Here

Pretty solid Mexican food experience. We came here for lunch and got a TON of food for a decent price.

Let me just say, though, the Yelp coupon here only applies to their regular menu, not their lunch menu nor their "Gringo" menu (both of which are already pretty much a steal) nor their alcohol selection. The prices on the normal menu are a bit higher, but reasonable By the way, although the menu doesn't explicitly state it, the entrees come with a LOT of rice and a choice of black or refried beans. Also, if you check in on Yelp, you get a 10% off the whole check, too (although I'm not sure if that only applies to certain items and whatnot, as I didn't use it).

The salsa they serve with the free appetizer chips is great! So chunky and full of flavor. Twas a sad moment when the chips ran out. Solid entrees; we had salmon and steak tacos, both delicious and expertly prepared. If we were a bit hungrier (or had come with more people), we would have liked to try some of their delicious-sounding appetizers.

The drinks were great, too. The bartender made us a mean strong long island ice tea and sangria. The sangria was more on the wine side and less on the fruity side, which I enjoy. I'll have to come back for happy hour.

I was terribly disappointed with the food here.  It was very bland and lacked flavor.  The drinks were nothing to rave about either.

To be honest, the food here tasted pre-packaged.  There were no spices nor flavor.  The beans tasted like they were from the can, and the rice was stale and dry.  I'd suggest Taco Bell before this place!

I will put this bluntly.  I live near Senorita's, but I would rather drive to Chevy's.

If it's busy at Senorita's the service is terrible.  And the food is mediocre.

Excellent Mexican restaurant that won't disappoint you. It's a gem in the rough undeveloped Bloomfield redevelopment area right across the street from the train station.
When this area is completed, Senorita's will rock.

Pretty amazing happy hour deals.  Three dollars off ANY margarita - holy smokes, a cuervo margarita is, what? $7 dollars?  For $4, you get a BOOZY concoction that you literally only need one of...Ok, or two, if you are not driving.  Three dollar Coronas?  Count me in.

On Cinco de Mayo, Senorita's was slammed.  The service was lacking.  All things considered, we were still able to get a seat at the upstairs bar (it took about 25 minutes, but nonetheless, we waited and waited and finally got a seat)....AND we were able to order food which arrived fairly promptly.

Run-down of Cinco de Mayo food:

The tamales were freaking delicious - both the pork and the chicken, I liked the pork, the man enjoyed the chicken.  So tasty, stuffed to the max.  The ceviche was pretty nasty, way too much white fish, not nearly enough scallops + squid, lime flavor was lacking... I make a damn better ceviche.  It was just sloppily served, not appealing to the eyes or the palette.  Avoid.

The outside was pretty ingenious as well, if you didn't feel like dealing with the indoor smorgasbord of drunkards and one-bra-strap-is-missing sloppy ladies.  Tacos - soft or hard shell, three different choices of meats, were only $2/taco, plus the bartender offered margaritas and three different beers.  Not too shabby.

The food?  My sister and I went here a few weeks before May 5.

Chips & salsa were a'iight, guacamole not too bad (needed more lime juice), the chili con queso significantly lacked any chili, the pork tamales were VERY good, her quesadilla was above par, and my three hard-shell pulled pork tacos were tasty - tons of pork, not overloaded with fillers.

Every other time I've eaten here, I can safely say the food remains a little above your standard Mexican, while other options are significantly shittier than others.  The place, as a whole, is pretty cheesy.... the ambiance leaves a bit to be desired, yet I will still return for the killer happy hour deals & better than average service.

Seniorita's is a GREAT place to for for Mexican. I've had Mexican at about a dozen places, and some are drab while others stand out. Seniorita's DEFINITELY sticks out to me in terms of good service, quality food, and good pricing.

The location is in Bloomfield, and is a bit confusing to find -- you can pass it immediately if you don't keep your eyes peeled! I've been here twice, and both times everything has been terrific. I'm a HUGE burrito guy, so pair that with a Dos Equis + you've got a happy Yelp'er with a MEAL IN HAND.

The chips and salsa given upon being seated were delicious -- the chips weren't salty as hell, as MAJORITY of places have them served to you. You're usually so used to tasting the salt PILED on the bottom of your chip bin -- not at Seniorita's. The salsa is chilled, chunky, and has a nice kick to it...very authentic. The burritos are HUGE, and will easily fill you up. If you plan on rocking a burrito, do nOT get an appetizer...unless you've got a history of eating like a sick human being.

Hot. Tight. Clean -- best way to describe the burritos and fajita's at Seniorita's. I'm also a die-hard cheese fan, and the amount of cheese these guys loaded on my burrito CERTAINLY made me shed a smile. The sides are beans and rice, which were also delicious.

I didn't have a chance to dabble with the dessert because I was stuffed stupid both times I went, but if I do go again, I will edit my review to reflect my opinion of that bad boy.

Check out Seniorita's if you're around the area -- you won't be disappointed.

I love this place and have been here many times.  We have it saved in the GPS as "Good Mexican Place."  The food is great, with some variety from what you might usually expect at a Mexican place, mainly with their huge variety of tasty chicken sautes and a few other unique menu items.  The atmosphere is awesome, and the waitstaff are always quick and friendly (even when we were there with a party of 17).  Drinks are tasty.

If you like mushrooms, especially recommended is their mushroom appetizer (I can't remember the name) with cheese and garlic.  Good enough to order as an entree.  The chicken tortilla soup, with copious amounts of chopped avocado, is also a favorite.

There are very few Mexican places in and around Montclair and so far, Senorita's is the best.  Unfortunately that isn't saying much if you love real Mexican food.  The chips and salsa are fine, and there is a drink special most nights which helps the rest of the food go down.  I have eaten there several times with my family, who are avid fans of the cheese enchiladas and shrimp tequila for some reason.

The biggest problem is that the dishes are lackluster and watered down.  There isn't a lot of depth of flavor or spice.  This is gringo food.  I did order the tortilla soup and cuitlacoche quesadillas and those were appreciably better and more authentic.  Recommended over Mexicali Rose or Tinga's Taqueria.  Still, not particularly recommended.

bleh. Cant decided if Senorita's is trying to be a chain or not. Everything is very chainy feeling if you know what i mean. Was recommended based on good sangria. First warning sign for this place is that they offer coupons. Found that out after the fact. A generally good rule of thumb is to beware establishments that have to offer coupons to drum up business.

Parking is tough. Classic margarita is pretty damn good. Sangria, not so much. I recommend any drink OTHER THAN the sangria. The fruit is added right before serving and it tastes like red wine with fruit in it. methinks not.

I got the pulled pork soft tacos. They were bland, the pulled pork was reallly dry, and they are not served with any salsa, sour cream, or anything like that. I passed on the beans and got extra rice instead. The rice was dried out and clumpy as if it was the last of the rice from 2 days ago stuck in the corner of the rice bucket. Not impressed at all.

Wifey got a burrito that you have to eat with a knife and fork. Different style, but not great tasting.

Drink prices are a little high. Margaritas are 8 bucks, pitcher of the gross sangria was 24, shot of cafe patron was 8 bucks.

I am going to give this $$$ but it is not a really expensive place to eat if you dont drink.

Service was alright. The server was super nice and friendly, but was sometimes absent.

Would not recommend, would not go back.

I REALLY wanted to like this place...I came here last year for a friend's birthday dinner and the ambiance, decor and service were great. The owner was even walking around from table to table and gave the birthday girl a free shot of one of their most expensive tequilas. The tortilla chips were good and fresh and I liked my drinks, however, when I got my food I was disappointed and had I not been super hungry I would not have eaten it. The rice was bland and the beans were runny, the fish was okay but nothing special. Overall, I had a good time but I won't be coming back as the food just did not do it for me.

Been here a few times for lunch and you get a lot of food for a great price. The space is huge and usually not that crowded for lunch, so it's great for a larger group. Service is good and fast and every time I've gone, everyone got free desserts (which come with the lunch special) even if you don't get a lunch special.
The salsa is very good, which is a must for a mexican restaurant. I usually get beans, rice, and tortillas (just for a simple meal which is a good judge of a restaurant) and they are excellent and you get enough for a meal for a few dollars.

Ever since Mexicali Rose changed owners we'e been looking for a replacement.  I pass Senoritas every time I go to yoga and had been dying to try - when my work happened to have a training upstairs in their banquet-style room.  I practically was the first to sign up and was beyond excited to get to taste some food.

Let me say: guacamole - FANTASTIC, sangria? DELICIOUS, lime dressing, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, and I can't remember what the rest tasted like because i was slightly tipsy, but I know I liked it!

They have a LOT of vegetarian options which is always a super PLUS with me.  Honestly, I can't wait to return, and drink the sangria AFTER I eat my meal.

I went here a few times with friends that love the place, and ordered delivery a few times as well.  This place makes some great Tex Mex, but beyond that it's a nightmare.

The first time I went I'd enjoyed my meal quite a bit, and had to use the restroom.  The restroom was truck-stop dirty, with shit and piss all over.  I asked if it was going to be cleaned and was ignored.

The second time I went I'd enjoyed my meal, and needed to get change form the bar to pay.  It was empty save for one patron, and I was forced to wait for twenty minutes while the bartendress served the one patron, chatted with him, left for a bit, and chatted with him some more.

Thinking it was just the service that sucked, I started getting delivery.  This was great the first two times, but the third time I got a three inch long bone in my enchilada.  Now I don't even bother ordering.  Save yourself the pain of this place, go somewhere else.

Still in search of good Mexican food in the greater NYC area...  We went to  Senorita's as a late decision after reading some Yelp reviews.

I'll just break this down into pros and cons, because otherwise would be a disservice to the relative pros and cons:

    PROS:

Great service - friendly, prompt, and not pushy at all
Good portions - enough to eat if you're starving, plenty to take home if you're not
Enchiladas - very tasty, smothered in green chili sauce
Tortilla chips - taste like they're made in-house, very crisp and good on their own.
    Bathrooms - clean and well-maintained

    CONS:
Onions - there are lots of them in everything; probably too much onion in the salsa, beans, and my tacos al carbon.
Tacos al Carbon - the steak was a little chewy, there were mushrooms in the mix, and the jalapenos were way overpowering; a bit unsatisfying for what should be a simple dish.
Rice - a little dry and clumpy... had probably been sitting under the heat lamp for a while
Margaritas - the house margaritas tasted like they came from a margarita mix, but not a bad quality mix.

Generally, the food was a B-minus, but the price and portion sizes were respectable.  The service was good, and the atmosphere was not offensive.  The place was clean and friendly and kind of inviting.  I'm tempted to go back just to see if any of their dishes are better.

I really wanted to like, even love this place. I really miss good Mexican food. Let's start with the good things. The house margarita is pretty good. The chips are really good and the salsa has a lot of onions (which I like) and the taste is better than bland.

The service is not great. Everyone employee we talked to was very nice. The service itself was slow and forgetful.

I ordered the salmon fajitas (fishy and boring) and my husband ordered the chicken fajitas (tasteless and boring). Our kids ordered a side of shredded chicken, a side of cheese and corn tortillas. The shredded chicken tasted funky, at best (some type of bb-q sauce that went wrong) and the corn tortillas were very greasy and hard to use as they were so big.

This was our second visit and the first wasn't any better.

i dont know what happened but the food at Senorita's used to be reeeeeally good up to a couple of years ago....we loved this place so much so that we even had our rehearsal dinner there 3 years ago....back then the food was so full of flavor and a little more authentic...last time i was there i ordered the veggie burrito which was supposed to be stuffed with mixed veggies...instead i got a bigass burrito stuffed with nothing but corn....very dissappointing...which made me sad...so we ordered the sangria....which was still great thankfully....so i would recommended senorita's for drinks and a good time since the atmosphere is warm and lively with its beautiful decor and awesome musica....but thats pretty much it...unless they really work on getting their food back to were it used to be.

Awesome Mexican food at a reasonable price.  The menu is veggie friendly and the portions are huge.  Good salsa, great burritos, chimi's, and quesadillas.  House margarita is tasty.

Work nearby so me and my co-workers come here every so often.    Senoritas serves your standard fare and has good lunch specials (Chips and salsa, entree, sopapillas, and a drink for $7!).  The service is usually pretty attentive and they are always friendly. As an overall mexican restaurant, it is an average (or maybe slightly above average) joint.  But compared to all the sh*tty places in the wonderful town of Bloomfield, it is one of the best in the area!

I've been here a few times for private events. The chips, salsa and guac are very good and fresh. I am a huge fan of the chicken quesadillas. Also their margaritas are good. Last time I dined in we ordered the beef enchilada which was enormous. It was way more than one person could eat. But the sides were very minimal for the amount of food the main portion was. I love the look of the restaurant and the staff is very nice. My only complaint is they were a little slow last time we were there. It was a Sunday afternoon and not busy at all. Our waiter was very attentive in the beginning, but once we put our order in we rarely seen him again. We received the wrong entree and had to send it back with another waitress. Also, when it was time to pay we waited about 20 minutes for our check and another 20 minutes to have it picked up. I'm still a fan based on the food but think the service could be a little better.

This place used to get a 3 maybe 3.5.... But after a little redo to the menu/prices Id go for a 4.... good Tex Mex.. Maybe not the best you'll ever have, in fact there are better places you could go if your willing to drive a couple miles! But they have great combos..... Though you won't find a tamale in the place... flour and corn tortillas get cooked in every which way possible try the dos burritos it's pretty dang good. And just like any Mexican place worth a damn you'll love the homemade chips, salsa, and guacomole! Oh and they deliver a rarity for a NJ mexican place.

I went here about a week ago, the reason the review took so long to write is because I didnt really want write it.  I dont like this place, not one bit.  Let me say first that the food was actually pretty good.  I had the enchilada with mole sauce which was surprisingly good since I dont like mole sauce. (I didnt know it was chocolate). She had a steak dish with mushroom that was cooked and seasoned well.  The guac I ordered was such a small portion for $7.95 I expected much more.  Everything else here is pretty bad.  I went here about an hour before closing, there were only 2 other tables besides ours.  We waited sooooooo long for everything, drinks, appetizers, meal, refills, and of course the check.  You would think they would try and be very fast about the service so they could go home at closing time but NOPE!  The other reason I didnt like this place is because it seemed expensive.  Mexican restaurants are not usually $17 $18 or $19.  I dont think the "ambiance" or "decor" validated the prices at all.  It looked like a cafeteria with nicely painted walls in fact.  I probably wont go back.  Total $65 plus tip... Could of gotten my entire meal for $40 or less at Jose Tejas in Wayne.

It was good food, but not worth the future attempt at parking or navigating our way there.  I've had better Mexican good in Bergen county, ironically or not, so perhaps my expectations were higher given the proximity of native ex-pats.  Also, if you plan on using coupons, be advised that you can't order off the lunch menu and receive the discount; the coupons are only valid for lunch, however, so it sort of backs you into a bizarre Catch-22.  I think a place that offers coupons says something about where your expectations should be.

I was really impressed with the food in this place. A friend of mine took me here and I'm not big on Mexican food (besides Taco Bell LOL), but the food here was pretty good. I ordered a Tequila Don Pepe tilapia dinner with rice and black beans.
You can choose to have this dinner with tilapia, salmon or snapper and since they ran out of snapper so I got the tilapia instead. The food was hot and had flavor. Some restaurants, nowadays, forget to add "flavor" to their food. My friend ordered the fish fajita and the food came out on a sizzling griddle and it came with guacamole, salsa and sour cream and flatbread. It looked really good.
Anyways, I also ordered the coconut mojito. Even though the glass was filled with mostly ice, the mojito was still tasty. I then ordered their chocolate fudge dessert and it was soooo good. I wish the dessert was hot but it was still good nonetheless. I highly recommend this restaurant. The restaurant has two floors and they have enough space for large parties upstairs. They also offer free delivery.

My table was wiped clean in-between apps and entree. Manager stopped by to insure that we were enjoying our dinner. Very tasty food well presented and good value. Go early and you can snag a parking space on the side of the building.

I only give it four stars because me and my wife love very spicy food, it was mildly spicy. But next time I will ask for it to be prepared extra spice and we will see how it turns out.

The service is just a little slow for me, personally. Also, the dinner menu is kind of expensive. But the food is always yummy! I especially love their 'El Cheapo Luncho' menu. Great dishes for super low cost.

This is the best Mexican in the area with great service. The margaritas are awesome, and I've never had a bad meal here. Shy of heading into Manhattan, you won't do any better if you're looking for quality Mexican.

All i have to say is Chipolte Mayo with the mild wings, it will blow you mind. They have nice Happy Hour drink prices and a good selection of Happy Hour apps.

I have had eaten here before and had a pretty decent meal, but this place has really gone downhill. I had just went to dinner with my GF and it was one of the worst meals we have ever had.The only good point was the chicken tamale in fact it was so good that i got another one.As far as the entree portion i got the chimichanga and my GF got the 3 way combo, she had a hard beef taco, beef burrito and chicken enchilada.I have to tell ya it was bland with no flavor and just all lumped together on the plate. When she went to eat her taco it just fell apart cause it was soaked from the juice of the other items from her plate. Now common sense would tell you to separate the items so this does not happen but then again we're not dealing with the brightest people on earth. My dinner ws ok but the last time i had a chimichanga it had some chese and red sauce smothered on top it after it was fried. This was not happening here, just deep fried and thrown on the plate with some rice and beans. When asked to fix it they did by putting some sauce and cheese on top of it ,but it still lacked flavor,it was a torrtilla stuffed with chicken that's it.I guess what it comes down to is that people just don't really care anymore.

i went to senioritas for my birthday and had made reservations 3 weeks in advance. i arrived with 5 friends and was seated at a table for 6 and as we were going to sit down a man came over to the table and said that we couldn't sit there because it was for a reservation. we told him that we had one and he proceeded to tell us that we didn't and that we couldn't sit there. there was no other group waiting to be seated so i'm not sure who he thought was going to sit there. he made it seem as though we walked in the front door and just seated ourselves. not once did he say anything to the hostess who actually took our name and brought us to the table. we came to find out this man was the owner. he was totally unprofessional and extremely rude. in the end he left us alone but never apologized or excused himself. unfortunately for the good food, this episode with the owner ruined the night.
