Authentic, inexpensive Mexican food.  Hooray!  The place is really casual, unpretentious, and welcoming.  The hostess didn't have a table for us when we arrived, but was friendly and with a smile assured us we'd be seated quickly.  True to her word, she had us seated within minutes, coffee cups filled, and orders heading into the kitchen.

The food was authentic, spicy, and delicious, and exhibited a distinct uniqueness that most Mexican restaurants in Seattle just don't have.   The quality of ingredients surpasses the usual cheddar you see in most wannabe Mexican restaurants.  Senor Moose instead opts for flavorful cheese like cotilla and oaxaca, fresh black beans, even grilled plantains.  All in all, a delicious meal and the bill was totally reasonable, I would definitely recommend this experience.

Yummy, and quaint decor (love to sit at the bar for lunch) but the slowest service I've ever had anywhere in Ballard.  I can't get in and out of there in an hour for lunch which means I can't  go there during my lunch hour.  :(  I head on over to La Carta de Oaxaca where I can be in and out in half an hour and then have half an hour to walk off what I just ate.  Don't get me wrong, the food is pretty good here.  I just don't go for lunch.

My hunt for excellent Mexican food in Seattle brought me to Senor Moose on Saturday evening, and I must say I was very impressed.

Senor Moose has an air of unpretentious authenticity that is always very promising in an ethnic restaurant.  They recently started serving Margaritas, and when we were ordering it the waiter said to us, "This isn't Freemont; we don't have blueberry-pomegranate frozen margaritas."  That did a pretty good job of setting the mood for us :)

We started with the often recommend Five Salsas and Chips.  Their chips were freshly fried and very delicious.  The salsas had a great variety to them; there was something for everyone from the mildest red salsa to a very spicy salsa verde.

For the main course we had a bunch of different beef items, the best of which was probably the shredded beef tacos.  They were spicy, really flavorful, and just the right size for a filling dinner. The Carne Asada, which our waitress recommended, was good but did not blow me away.

The only caveat is that the place is very small and fills up early; there was already a considerable wait when we arrived at 5:30ish.  So go early, especially if you have a big group!  They seem willing to take a limited number of reservations for larger groups (say 6 or more).

I'm sure we will be going back soon for brunch or dinner!

Senor Moose is awesome!!!  I went here for breakfast on Friday morning and had an amazing breakfast...  The coffee they brew is delicious... It's strong and so so so good... I guess they buy it from Mexico and get it roasted in Ballard...  I had the Chorizo con Huevos..  Their black beans are the best I've ever had..  Their service was great and their food was excellent. It paid to get their around 11 or so... it started to get a little busier but it's worth the wait.

I'll be going back soon!

I cannot believe I waited so long to go to Senor Moose!  I have lived in Ballard for almost six years, and I drive by Senor Moose every day.  I always thought it was predominantly a breakfast place, and it just didn't seem appealing from the outside.  But, you fellow Yelpers convinced me to give it a go.

Hooray!  I walked in and smelled the grease and tortillas and knew it was gonna be good.  We sat at the counter instead of waiting for a table; the place was packed on a Sunday night.

My friend and I started with the chips and five dipping salsas, for $3.25.  The chips were hot out of the fryer, and the salsas were all great.  My friend then had chicken in mole, and I had shrimp in crema sauce.  They were both delicious.  My dish had a lot of large shrimp, unlike many restaurants that give you a small portion of seafood.

My only complaint was that the margaritas were not that good - too much sweet and sour, and $7 a pop for a pretty small glass.

Senor Moose is authentic Mexican food in a funky space, with good food prices and an obviously loyal following.  Next time I'm trying the tacos; they looked delicious.

Please don't slap me or shout at me for giving this place less than 4 stars, but I wasn't blown away (ducks).  Checked this place out for the first time to satisfy JP's craving for Mexican.

The good....no wait for a table, the bf's chicken enchiladas suiza and the queso appetizer (we added the chiles).  The bad...service....VERY slow, we dug into the appetizer without having plates and made a giant, greasy mess of the table, no free chips and salsa upon being seated (isn't that must in Mexican restaurants?  I like my salt), my carnitas estilo el bajio were kind of bland. The pork wasn't nearly as flavorful as I anticipated.  I asked for some salsa and the verde added some nice spice to the dish.

I know so many people LOVE this place so I am not against trying it again...maybe for brunch next time.

Ate here last night and loved it.. you should do the same.

Be sure to order the chips & 5 salsas.. It's FAB and 2nd only to Chapel HH and the invention of the light bulb. 'Big ups' to Edison for that one.

You want the food deets? Read Carrie H's review, and please excuse her trucker mouth. It was one of those nights.

Holy fuck, talk about some tasty food!!

What I can only say is to reiterate what has already been said - authentic Mexican that tastes delicious.  I had the FILETE ENCHOCOLATADO - this was actually like heaven in my mouth.  We also had the chips and salsa, and the guy also gave us some guac - fantastic!!

The only thing I didn't really care for is that they serve margaritas, but it's not on the menu.  To my shock they were $7 a piece, yikes!  Although it was damn tasty, and well worth the money.  I wish it would have been on the menu, but whatevs.

I've heard the breakfast is good here, too - but I'm still enjoying the dinner.

Thank you, Senor Moose!!  Your odd name will stick with me to remember you for next time.

Comida tipica si!  However, walking to the bathroom was almost too tipica--cerra los ojos!  The food was muy bueno--enchiladas suizas tangy and creamy.  Chips and multi-salsas picos--me gustan mucho!

Okay, we wanted to try something new and we decided on Senor Moose for dinner.  We've heard great things about the breakfast, so gonna have to come back for that.  Sounds like more veggie options for that, dinner...not so much.

I don't know, the atmosphere was kind of lame when we were there.  We were cold, I hate being cold when I eat.  Our table seemed really big, so conversation was kinda difficult seeing as I don't like raising my voice, liking privacy.  I don't know why I should've cared though, the customers here were just obnoxiously loud.

The table right next to us was a couple with 3 very young children, quacking and screaming the whole time.  Sorry breeders, call me a child hater, but I don't want to hear your damn kids squealing like wild beasts in a zoo while I'm eating and trying to have conversation.  Also, it's disgusting to watch you spoon food into their sick covered mouths and then watching it dribble out all over the table.  WTF?  One of the kids was banging silverware rhythmically as in, "Give me food, give me food."  That was lovely.  Thanks for not even trying to stop it.  You suck.

Here's a tip:  GET A BABYSITTER OR DON'T EAT OUT.  Plain and simple.  Hate to lay it out for you, but apparently you're too shell-shocked by kids to be aware of it.

Okay, whew.  Another table behind us had an extremely large woman with an extremely loud voice talking about Arrested Development and the British Office and using words like "fetch" and blah blah blah......oh God, shut the f**k up already.  Nobody is interested.  Wow, you watch television.  Interesting.  Wait...not interesting.  We've seen these series on DVD too, we don't need a recap.

Okay, none of this is Senor Moose's fault though.  I know.  But it was their fault for playing Weezer while we were eating.  I'm not a Weezer hater, but not what I want to hear while dinning.  Just seemed out of place.

Now to the food, the important thing.  She had Enchilada Del La Plaza and I had Enchilada De Puya, the two veggie dishes we could see on the dinner menu.  Mine was really really tasty, but way overkill on the cream sauce.  They actually have paper throw away tablecloths, and I can see why.  Stuff was spilling off the plate left and right I tell ya.  The temperature of my dish was lukewarm.  Sad, because it would've been so much better piping hot like her dish was.  Besides that, the flavors were awesome.

The service seemed pretty slow.  Felt like we were just sitting around forever.  My dish must've been done early and just sat getting cold while the other one finished cooking.  This has been happening at a lot of places I go lately or not being served both dishes at the same time.  I'd rather have mine a bit early if it's just gonna get cold.

Anyway, only one time being here, and not for the raving breakfast brunch thing everyone talks about...so I'll give it 4 stars until I try that.  My experience tonight was more like a 3 truth be told, but, it's NYE...f**k it.

Also, I don't know why...but "Senor" in the title of a restaurant bugs me.  Maybe because of Senor Frogs?

Bitch out.

I don't live anywhere near Ballard, but Senor Moose has still managed to become my standard brunch choice if there's time to make the drive.

Breakfast at Senor Moose is hearty and filling but without the grease that I usually associate with hearty breakfast food. If your knowledge of Mexican breakfast stops at huevos rancheros, expect to spend some time deciphering the menu.  Although everything comes with black beans, that's about the only common thread.  I've eaten shredded beef and eggs, tortilla strips fried in green salsa, a corn cake covered in chicken and salsa, and potato cakes served with sour cream and poblano chile bits, and each was delicious.  They also have great coffee.

Service is a highlight as well.  It's a small, family-run operation, so the servers are familiar with the menu and it's easy to get their attention if you need something.  Although they are always full on weekends, there are never so many people there that I feel lost in the shuffle.  The crayons-and-butcher-paper thing is a little played out, but my amusement with the bizarre new color names ("macaroni and cheese", for example) Crayola keeps churning out knows no bounds.

I've also been for dinner.  The guacamole is pretty good, the chips are very good, and some of the plates come with mashed sweet potatoes.  I'd like to try it again some day when I'm not recovering from stomach distress and can therefore eat a full meal without fear.

Writing this review is tough because although I really, really like Senor Moose, it's hard to explain it in words.  Here's what I can come up with: eating brunch at Senor Moose is simply more fun than eating brunch elsewhere.  The food is unique, the coffee is good, the colors are bright, the wait staff is nice, and avocados are delicious.  There, I said it.  Go there and give it a shot.

You'd be forgiven for being skeptical about a Mexican diner, in Ballard, named Cafe Moose.  If I had found it in a phone book, I'd never have bothered.  But that would be a major mistake.

Cafe Moose is a wonderful addition to Ballard's booming restaurant scene.  While breakfast is what made the place legendary, dinner is excellent too.  Prices are reasonable, at par for a Mexican restaurant where thought has to go into every dish.  And does it ever.  The menu (which consists mostly of favorites you'd find at an actual Mexican restaurant - in Mexico) is unique.  Dishes vary by region, and even the traditional (e.g., enchiladas) is twisted to make something new.

Service was friendly, and although food took a long time to materialize, this was entirely forgivable.  Plates here are beautiful, and the atmosphere is enjoyable too.  The best Mexican diner in Seattle - and possibly best Mexican, period.

I love this place. Having never been to Mexico, this is as close to what I imagine an authentic Mexican restaurant is like. It's small, charming, comfortable (best restaurant chairs in the city), and oh-so-delicious!!

I have to give them special props for our last visit -- Valentine's Day. As last-minute-romantics, of course we hadn't discussed V-day dinner, much less made reservations anywhere... But when the day came, and we each came home from work tired and wanting to treat ourselves, we knew we were in for a troublesome search for a meal out. However, figuring SMC wasn't known as so much of a "romantic" spot, we decided to go for it. We walked in to a full house around 7:30pm, were told there was a 20-25 minute wait (wow, that's super-sonic for this time on this day!), but were seated with our waters in less than 15!

The service is always quick and friendly, the food is hot and heavenly (totally NOT diet-friendly!), and the margaritas are plentiful.

Be sure to start off with a bowl of chips (they make 'em themselves! Hot, crispy & fresh) and their famous guac -- one bite and you'll know you've come to the right place!

2. right when we sat down, waitress forced our group of 3 into a cramped corner instead.
3. waited ages for our food.
4. group of 4 who came in after us got served first.
5. waitress tells us they forgot to put in our order.
6. REALLY good black beans.  rest of meal, meh blandness.
7. sadly, probably never eating here again.

It took me forever to find this place, but I'm glad I did!

It is definitely not the standard Americanized Mexican food. The flavors are complex and deep, not cheesey. The chips that came with the five salsas were totally fresh and the salsas were interesting.

I can't remember the name of the dish I ordered, but it was pork stewed with plantains and pineapple - huge portions, so I was happy to have leftovers the next day.

The margaritas at $7 was a little pricier but it did the trick of winding me down for a Friday evening...

Can't wait to come back for the breakfast!

So I must admit my trip to Senor Moose was not exactly planned.

I had intended to visit La Carta de Oaxaca down the street and they were closed.  Heartbroken and hungry, I pondered what to do.  A moment ago, I had a purpose and a plan.  Suddenly, I'm lost and alone, freezing in the street.

Then a beacon of hope shone brightly ahead!  I recalled fellow Yelpers mentioning Senor Moose as another great place to satisy Mexican cravings.  And so it was!

First off, the guacamole was ridiculous-good.  Simple, chunky, fresh and a complete success.  For the main course, I opted for carne asada.  It was full of flavor, with a nice crust and complemented by poblano chiles, avocado slices and refried beans.  The portion was just right and I left fully satisfied.

Even though I did not have room for the tres leches cake, I think I won.  Next time, it will be a planned destination.  Go check it out.

With breakfast (huevos... naturally) down a year or so ago I closed lunch at the Moose and I'm ready to go back for dinner.  I had some sort of pork tacos that had the most wonderful richest meat you could hope for well arranged upon their double layered fresh tortillas and am glad I asked the owner for a recommendation.

Apparently, according to the owner, the lunch crowd has found Moose and we had to wait about 10 minuets for a couple of stools at the bar.  Well worth it though.

With the owner right there and her talking history of each dish as they're turned out it has got just what you'll want.

This is one of the most authentic Mexican joints in town.  What is really cool is that they'll highlight regional plates from around Mexico so you'll find tons of interesting things to try.

My roomie and I loooooove to go here for breakfast on the weekend.   The wait can be up to an hour long sometimes, but its totally worth it.  Another cool thing is that while you're waiting you can still get a cup of coffee in one of their sweet mugs.

I've been to dinner here once and I still remember the delicious rockfish smothered in garlic sauce that I had almost a year ago as if it were yesterday.

I really enjoy the atmosphere as well.  It feels like a house converted into a tiny restaurant which it most likely is.  The lighting is just right and there are beautiful pictures that rotate and little moose trinkets line the wall.  I also love that while you're waiting for your tasty delights you can draw w/crayons on the butcher paper that is laid down for each new customer.

My favorite breakfast dish so far is Huevos Ahogados.  Two poached eggs in tomato soup w/green chiles and amazing bread on the side that tastes like phatty english muffins!

Be daring, try something new.  Go for the moose!!

Oh snap. Senor Moose has the goods. True Oaxacan cuisine smack dab in the middle of Ballard. On Leary nonetheless. Seriously, pretty much everything here is good. The guacamole is amazing and if nothing else go for the huevos rancheros on Sunday morning. Gotta have the enchiladas suizas as well. And the carnitas. How could I forget the carnitas?

The one downside is that it's a small spot and there can be a bit of a wait but it's worth it. Great staff who know what they're talking about - just ask. If you're searching for true Mexican food in Seattle, Senor Moose should be on your list.

Liana and I went to Senor Moose in the Ballard District to secure a weekly brunch hideaway to catch up on each other's missed events in the past week (and to act all cutesy in public lol). We heard good things about the place and its Yelp page was rockin' 4 stars (!!!), which have never really disappointed before...

(cue thunder and pipe organ)

UNTIL NOW. Dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn....

We waited for a bit for a table in the seating area (didn't mind), while I sipped on some coffee in their cute lil' "jug" mugs. The cooks hustled well and had "moves", the waiters communicated and the bus staff was attentive and efficient. The decor had the standard cutesy/lived-in look, with a standard set of salsa music. When we were seated, I noticed the brown paper tablecloths to draw on and a cup full of Crayolas to make stunning works of art. Cute. That kept me busy for a while.

I ordered the Entomatadas - Corn Tortillas with Tomato Sauce topped with an egg - and a side of chorizo, while Liana ordered the Huevos Rancheros. Her friend recommended the potato dish and we decided to order that as well (for now as well as later in the day). So, that's 3 dishes of "safe" Mexican standards which encompasses the very basic of techniques and the most telling of ingredient choices and ratios. We assumed it would be good and would be able to exclaim that authenticity doesn't fail 1,300 miles from the boarder!!!

It failed. Everything was bland or with off flavors (a lot of sour/bitter elements) and the side of the in-house chorizo was lacking in substance. Even the potatoes, which were smothered in cheese, mushrooms and peppers, were sub par.

Yes, I'm sure if I ordered the carnitas or any of the slow cooked meats, it would be good. If I ordered and of the tacos, they would be wonderful. If I ordered anything fried, I'm sure they would be delicious. But brunch is lacking.  Definitely.

Yes, I came in with megalomaniacal dreams of grandeur (lol) that this place would be OURS every Sunday. But I guess we'll keep on keepin' on.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for next Sunday.

The quality of the food here is very good but it's not what you might think of when you think of Mexican food. For example, there are no burritos on the menu. It's what I usually call "expensive Mexican" even though the prices are comparable to average dinner prices at other types of restaurants. I just happen to think that good Mexican can be very cheap. I guess that's what happens to people have lived in San Diego.

We started with chips and salsa sampler. The chips were nice and warm, the different salsas were pretty good, but nothing spectacular.

Our table ordered carne asada and two of the shrimp dishes, one with pine nuts and a spicy one with chipotle sauce. All the dishes were great. I especially liked that the shrimp dishes came with a healthy portion of large shrimps but the rice portion was a bit skimpy.

Well before I went here I had only heard great things.  How good the food is, authentic/homemade chips and salsa etc...  Well I recently went for lunch the other day with a friend of mine.  We sat right at the front counter and waited about 10 minutes before we were even greeted.  Then they finally came and took our order, another 5 or so minutes went by before we got our chips and tiny little dishes of salsa you could barely fit a corner of a chip in.  Now given the chips were pretty damn delicious, I cant say the same for the rest of the food because we never got ours.  We first realized there was a problem when people that showed up after us were getting their food.  When we brought it to the attention of our waitress she seemed confused and flustered eventhough the restaurant was pretty much dead.  She appologized for forgetting about us, but it was too late I had to get back to work and wasted an hour lunch break for some chips and salsa I couldn't get out of the tiny dish!  Needless to say I was less than impressed with Senor Moose!

Oaxaca closed?  Senor Moose should be your next stop.

We stopped by on a Sunday evening and spent - maybe - 10 minutes waiting on a table for two.  We had seen, while waiting, chips with a series of salsas and ordered that right away . . . and then  again when our waiter came around to ask for our dinner order.

Unfortunately our waiter seemed to be the only one working (though there was another waitress) and he manically had to ask us for various parts of our order three times.  It's called writing it down - he should learn how to do that.

The chips and salsa arrived with our beers, but we didn't have a chance to really enjoy all of the salsas before our hot dinners were placed in front of us.

I ordered the jicama/cucumber salad and pork tacos, and the boyfriend had his favorite - mole.  All were extremely generous portions and perfectly seasoned.  We were soon pleasantly full - with plenty to take home for lunch the next day.

Overall a good experience for a quiet Sunday night.

5 stars for their Sopes con Plantanos. Delicious. We've only eaten here for breakfast, so that's all I can comment on at the moment, but the coffee is really excellent (it's just regular coffee, but it's GOOD), the service has always been good, and the food is tasty. I'm not super into traditional breakfast foods, so this is a nice brunch alternative for me (and they serve mimosas, which are a brunch imperative in my world).

UPDATE: We ate here for dinner. The food was just as tasty as breakfast, they have good sangria, and the chips and salsa are really yum (worth paying, and I am adamantly anti-paying for chips and salsa). They don't have a full bar due to some kind of technicality, but apparently they're working on it, so order up some sangria and save that margarita craving for another night!

UPDATE 2: They had their bar going last time we were here, and the margaritas were tasty. It look like they also have a good tequila selection, so there goes the last tiny caveat about eating here! Also, the place was super packed when we went (hour wait), but we were able to be seated immediately at the bar. So... awesome!

I must say good call on me for picking Senor Moose for the yelp brunch this past Saturday.  The food was wonderful I was boring and went with the huevos rancheros, if they couldn't do them right I wasn't sure if they could do anything right.  Well guess what they did them right.  They were tasty and filling and yummy and delicious and I can't wait to go back.  Plus it was topped with a half an avocado and I love avocado so this was an added bonus for me.  Speaking of avocado's what cracked me up is on the menu it's listed as a side and the price says "market price" just like lobster at a find dinning establishment it based on the market I found this funny for some reason.

The place is tiny but they accommodated our party of 7 very well.  It's also rather warm so I say go on cool day otherwise you might start sweating while eating and that's not pretty.  I'll be back soon to check out their dinner menu but if you go for brunch order a mango mimosa to start your day so refreshing and a great way to celebrate my ROTD.

This place definitely sneaks up on ya.  Don't be fooled by the drab exterior and somewhat grubby (or should I say "shabby chic") dining room, the food here is revelatory.  The Huevos Rancheros are some of the best I have had, and the Huevos con Chorizo is a little plateful of hoggy heaven.  But the Chilaquiles...  hold the phone.  Especially if you've ever had the "real thing" anywhere south of the border, the Chilaquiles here will blow your mind.  They really are that good.  I don't know what these guys are putting in their salsa fresca, but it is addictive with a capital 'A'.

Great service here too -  the place is family run and the owners are total sweethearts.

The "Moose" easily gets my vote for best breakfast in Ballard.  Highly recommended.

To quote Rylee O., "Oaxaca closed?  Senor Moose should be your next stop".

Well Rylee, that's what we ending up doing and I wasn't too impressed.  I have to admit that I'm not the foremost authority on Mexican food but I know what I like.  I ended up trying this soft taco chicken dish with a plethora of melted chesses on top.  The chicken ended up being packed into these tortillas but it didn't turned out to be all that great.  It was hard, wiry, and well, a bit tasteless.

Can't wait to try Oaxaca :)

Truly incredible mexican food - and not the common variety either. The tastes that you can find in this hidden Ballard gem of a restaurant are from through-out mexico: unique, flavorful, and amazing.

The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful about describing the food and choices available. You can tuck in here for a quick bite, or sit down to an incredible meal - all at your choice. I think it's the best mexican to be found in Seattle.

Scrum-brunch-alicious!

That's the only word to describe my supremely yummy Chilaquiles with chicken that I had this morning with fellow Yelpers.

As we basked in the glory that is ROTD-Mitzie, we welcomed newcomers Emily and Lawrence, and Yelp regs, Craig and Bounce, with a Mimosa toast and then quickly dug in to our delicious breakfasts. Our server was a doll, and soon we were savoring Masa cakes and plaintains and chorizo and machaca and all the goodness that is Senor Moose!

I can't wait to go back for dinner! (Well, not tonight, but soon!)

After Jaz M.'s great review, I had to check this place out.  I mean she's an Arizona girl that wouldn't dare lie about Mexican food!  And she was totally right.

It's small, noisy and filled with moose statues.  The staff was friendly and got us seated right away.  We partook of the incredible sangria.  Soaked through fruit, tons of flavor, super yum.

He ordered the carne asada and I got a chicken mole.  While the carne asada wasn't up to what we were used to, it wasn't bad either.  We're just spoiled from too much time in Tucson.  The mole was a real mole though, spicy not sweet and thick and rich.  Topped off with real tortillas and we were so happy.

The only real downside was bringing the baby that didn't appreciate the loud 40-something drunks at the table next to us.  But their witty banter about sitcoms really gave us something to laugh about.

A definite stop again place.  See, there is good Mexican in Seattle!

I lived in Texas for four years, which created in me exceedingly high expectations when it comes to Mexican food.  So it means something when I tell you that Senor Moose is SO GOOD.

We got the chips and salsa (yes, it's $3, but who cares, we couldn't even finish them and ended up taking half home), and the chips were freshly-fried and delicious, and I loved 3 of the 5 salsas.  (One of them was a cilantro chutney, which is poison as far as I'm concerned, although I understand that other people do not share this opinion.)

Then we got the enchiladas with potatoes and corn and zucchini, which were delicious (I seem to be using this word a lot), and the mole negro with pork.  The pork was perfectly cooked and tender, and the mole was outstanding.

We ended up taking home half the food and eating it for lunch the next day, and it was just as good then.  Yum!

(Sung to any tune you want. I prefer "La Cucaracha" myself.):

It's in my belly!
It's in my belly!
The delicious Mexican food has been eaten!
Hey! It's in my belly!

Finally made it over to Senor's for some good authentic Mexican food. I got the swordfish with black beans and corn. Oh the corn! Jesus Christo! The corn immediately transported me to strolling along the Malecon in Puerto Vallarta eating some street vendor corn, with cream and cheese. Oh, man!

SO got the spicy chicken tostados with cabbage. Recommended by the waiter and was delicious also.

The homemade sangria was delicious, but NOT worth $7.50/glass.

I dig their extensive Mexican beer menu. We tried 3 different ones and Pacifico came out on top.

Two issues that I didn't care for:
1. You walk into the restaurant via the bar/kitchen area and are blasted by smoke and heat. Whatever, but not the most welcoming of welcomes.
2. Chips/salsa are $3.25! The 5 salsas are good, but I won't be paying for those again.

I'm afraid that my favorite mexican restaurant has been discovered.  This place caught me with their fabulous mexican breakfasts and no waiting lines.  Then I got drawn back in for the dinners and the dark mole sauce.  Love it love it love it.  and part of what I loved was the lack of Oaxaca crowds lurking over your table waiting for you to leave.
They do need to get a full liquor license and it would be perfect.  Except that I saw a line the other day for breakfast.
good for them...

Pretty darn tasty breakfast.  I ordered the Sopas and my girlfriend ordered the Eggs with Chorizos.  I must say, I liked hers better, but mine was good, too!  I would recommend against ordering the pancakes since I could recognize that taste anywhere ... Bisquick.  I mean, they could be great, but not something I would expect a restaurant to serve.  I mean, if you're going to use Bisquick, at least make them fluffy!  I'll go here again if I am craving a tasty Mexican breakfast.

Awesome food.  Funky little place that seems to be finally discovered by all.
The beer list is all bottled, which is good.  The sangria is great.  The chili verde i had was super good.  lots of tomatios.  The specials are always good.
Staff is pretty attentive and friendly.
The bathrooms are wierd, you have to walk all the way through the kitchen past all the storage and food to get to them.  Place is a little dirty, but solid food.

yum!  came here for dinner, walked in and immediately greeted warmly.  waited 15 minutes for a table for 2 sipping sangria and margarita happily watching the open kitchen speak and crack jokes in spanish.   when seated, we ordered the mole with chicken (la carta de oaxaca on ballard avenue is yummier) and the shredded beef 'tacos de machaca' (one factor why I rated this place 4 star).  the environment here is very friendly and the prices great.  it's not a romantic first date place but can easily become one of your favorite restaurants in seattle.

tip: don't order the 3 milk cake to go like we did and try to eat it like 3 hours later (what were we thinking!??)

Great Nachos.  They are thick and taste like the ones I have made at home before.  The five salsa trip is also tasty and spicy.  I have heard the guac is a very heavy helping and is full of fresh avocado.

As for the meals, some are just ok like the beef tacos and others are freekishly amazing like the chicken enchiladas.  The chicken enchiladas here have the most tasty green sauce I have had at a mexican restaraunt in years.   The inside of the enchilida has almost no cheese and has nice moist chicken.  I highly recommend ordering the enchiladas.  Supremely yumilicious!  :-)
