I have been going to Senor Flacos a few times a year for about 5 years and have to say I am surprised with the reviews I have read here. Though I have had better Mexican food (in the south west), I haven't had better in New England. The menu isn't exciting, though there is lots of variety. I love their fresh guacamole and we have enjoyed tacos (especially the fish tacos with succulent lghtly fried tilapia , served with a deliciouis lime, garlic, citris, hot sauce), the generous taco salad (with shrimp or chicken), fresh fish with authentic tasting mole and satisfying chicken enchiladas.
Yet the most delightful aspect of Senor Flacos is the friendly and efficient service. Morgan, who has been a server for 5+ years, is pleasant and knowledgeable and always greets my wife and me warmly. Then, remembering that we like veggies with our salsa (we used to bring our own from home), she brings us a bowl of carrots and celery along with a bowl of chips. And, they have a great selection of mexican beers, including Modelo Especial on tap the last time we dined last weekend.
Sure, there are often some young children playing air hockey or just being kids, but the laid back casual atmosphere contibutes to the relaxing feel and the satisfaction that we always have at the end of a meal. -

We had dinner here in a group of 14. The super burrito with spinach, garlic and mushrooms was very good! Even though the food wasn't as authentic as it could have been, everyone enjoyed what they ordered. So the bottom line is - the food was good.
The waitress was not overly attentive, but very friendly and available when needed. prices were just a bit higher than I would have liked, but not crazy expensive.
The arcade was noisy, but kept the kids entertained while the adults continued eating and drinking. It was a fun outing. -

Good mexican food, although not authentic. The Chicken wings are really good, little bit different then you would find elsewhere. Portions are big for the price and the bartender who was our server was on top of his game.
Expect Lots of Kids here.
Managment has improved, getting new paint in the bar real soon and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
This was my 6th visit in the past year. and I think everytime it has been better than the time before.
Thanks Guys ! -

Just back from a visit with the kids. We chose the place because the kids eat free. Won't make that mistake again. My 5 y/o said "That restaurant was so bad. The beans were pretty good, but the rest was awful. The taco was horrible! It burnt my mouth, like fire." My 8 y/o said "It was awfully awful. The rice needed more moisture. The meat was a little spicy, and the melted cheese in the taco made the meat taste bad. I think the cooks messed up." My experience was little better. I had "tacos autenticos", and they weren't at all. The grilled steak was bland, and the pork seemed to have been seasoned with Cambell's tomato soup. The salsa was probably made with what was left from the can. The chips were soaked in grease. The beans were dry, and the rice was very dry and tasted like it came from a box. My wife had spinach and portobello enchilladas, and she felt they were ok but bland. The service was passable, but only just. Taco Bell beats this place hands down. There's got to be better Mexican SOMEWHERE around here.

Hey you know what? It's good! Sure, it's not "authentic" or any other quote-y type description, but damn it, it's good Mexican style food. We went last night because my 12 year old got to choose, and we all liked it.
The homemade chips arrive warm, fresh out of the fryer, with a bowl of warm (unusual but good) salsa. Not really spicy but very flavorful. Wife and I got Margaritas, which were quite nice. They have a very extensive selection of tequilas, but I'm not an aficionado, so it was not relevant to me.
She got some empenada dish which she liked. I ordered the spicy chicken and shrimp dish, which was indeed spicy. Very good, and I ate nearly all of what was an enormous serving. Extra treadmill work this morning...
Kids got tacos and chicken fajitas, respectively. Everyone was happy with the food. The service was prompt, and out waitress was friendly and helpful.
I liked the colorful murals on all the walls. There's a good feeling there, and I really had no complaints with the food or the service. I wouldn't give it more than 3 stars because it is definitely Americanized Mexican, and while everything was good, nothing was great. The only thing I found weird was that they have a little game arcade area off the dining room, which lends a Chucky-Cheese type atmosphere to an otherwise cool place. Ditch the games, Senor.
All in all, I'd go back because it tasted good, was fun, and the drinks were strong. Ole! -

Should be more aptly renamed, "señor WTF" to get the point across.
Coworkers and friends raved over this place. Those friends must have gone home to eat dog food and tree bark.
Although, in hindsight, the tree bark is softer than the homemade tortilla chips; I want to apologize to my teeth for putting them through that.
While i'm apologizing, i'll take the time to say sorry to my taste buds for the bland attempt at Mexican food. I've never had worse. Including Taco Bell.
Don waste your time; go to Ortegas in Groton, Zavallas in New London, or insert RI mexican spot -

Great Tex-mex in an eclectic setting that makes you want to book a flight to Tulum right after dinner! Had amazing brisket with creamy coconut rice all wrapped in a banana leaf- muy bueno! However, the highlight of the evening was Tim, the manager moonlighting as a bartender this particular evening. He had great suggestions, an actual sense of humor, and kept the tequila flowing- all in all a great night in Westerly.

If you want a decent plate lunch, this is the spot. Nothing fancy, and no "ambience", but the food was OK and the house margaritas were OK too. Not high end dining, but a decent value. I'm not in a rush to go back but i wouldn't avoid going there.

This is between a 4 and a 5 star for me. A great local place with some pretty good food. Not truly authentic, but better than most Americanized, just cheese-covered dishes (the mole is wonderful). The drinks are good and the service is always decent (sometimes better than others). Good prices. Closed on Mondays.
