You can't say enough about this place!!  Where else can you feel like you're in Rosarito but actually in Eagle Rock.   The patio decor is family style benches and the trees provide some shade.  Just don't walk away from your plate because the birds will attack your food!

Few places offer you grilled fish tacos, plus a variety of fish, like Mahi Mahi, Orange Roughy, Swordfish, Sea Bass, Tuna, Snapper, Cod & Halibut (my favorite).  The gem of these tacos is the salsa and they've got a variety of green and red hot, medium and mild.  By far, the best plate is the Fish Platter @ $10.99 with a choice of (3) tacos, rice & beans, salad mix and cup of ceviche w/chips.  What a deal!!...

Come hungry because the plate is big and you will leave stuffed but totally satisfied.  I recommend having Dos XX's Lager, because nothing tastes better with fish tacos than an ice cold beer!

I come here for two things:

Shrimp Burrito and Shrimp Salad.

The shrimps are big enough for me to suspect they are either injected with steroids or come from some line of mutant shrimp.

Service here is also pretty damn sweet.

This is the best Senor Fish location. I love it so much, I wrote it a song just now:

Fish, fresh fish
Where can I get my fix?
Oh, Senor Fish
You give me my fresh fish fix.

Fish, delicious fish
Fried in a taco
Or Grilled on my dish
If I could have just one wish
It's for you to take me to Senor Fish!

Okay, that song sucked but you know what does NOT suck? The fish at Senor Fish. For reals, people, this is some fresh fish, and it's very reasonably priced! They have a nice fish list including salmon, tuna, halibut, and orange roughy. You get a big filet prepared however you like, rice and beans and green salad and tortillas and a drink for 10-12 bucks.

Everything else on their extensive and familiar menu is good and satisfying as well (best shrimp and scallop burritos I ever tasted), but I come here for the fish, fish, fish, it's delish.

If this restaurant was a dude, I would shamelessly hit on him.

I came here for lunch today and ordered the Tofu Taco for $2.25 which came with enough veggie goodness to place onto two tortillas, thus making it two tofu tacos for $2.25.  The tofu was seasoned with zesty spices and fried to a crisp; then topped with guacamole, diced onions, lettuce and tomato.  Delicious!

The place also had a super cute outdoor patio which seems like a great place to check out at night.  I will certainly be back to try more items on the menu.

When there's a grilled fish taco place around, I'm all in!

Well, Senor Fish has a lot of potential, but it kind of missed the mark. :(

The menu is fantastic.  They have a large selection of *very* good fish to get in your tacos (or burritos).  I got the special, with three seafood tacos.. One with halibut, one with scallops, and the other with, I forget actually.  But they have salmon, ahi, sea bass, etc.  Good choices.  The special came with rice and beans, and a side salad.

The tacos are mini, so they come with two tortillas.  I took one off, but it was obviously there for a reason because it kind of fell apart with just one.  But dangit, I don't want the extra carbssss.  Pffft.  They are ok tacos.  Kinda fishy tasting (and before you get on my case and say.. "it's a fish taco!".. yes, I know..  but sometimes it can be more fishy than others.. you know it).. but not so much that you had to drench it with salsa or lemon.  I actually forgot to put lemon on it, and they were still good.  However, I've had better grilled fish tacos - hence, two stars.  The salsa bar was a plus!  All of them were yummy.

The bean and cheese burrito was good.. and rather than refried beans, they come with whole pinto beans.  J got the pastor taco and the carne taco, both of which the meats were tough/chewy.

The service is very pleasant - the lady at the front register was very kind!

The ambiance was not the greatest, even for a little taco place.  The outdoor area can be nice, but beware of the flies that will attack you and your food.. and the birds that congregate in the trees above your table (your bird-poo stained table and chair, might I add).. so it's hard to totally relax and enjoy. :)  Although, they do have a few seats where the table is a "tree trunk stump".. very cute!  The interior wasn't anything neat.

You can get just as good, if not better fish tacos at Wahoo's (and I'm not saying Wahoo's is out of this world good or anything either).  Sorry to say. :(  I'd come again just to try the different types of fish in the tacos, but that's my curiosity speaking. :)

Lemme just say this.... I know me some tacos.
So when I was asked to try a taco crawl at Senior Fish, I was skeptical. I mean, the place is too cutesy to have real tacos! It's kitchy, it's homey, it's got out door seating. Tacos you say? Pshaw!

Then, I took a look at the menu and saw some very unusual things. Scallop tacos? Oh lordy, I thought, they are trying too hard.

But my doubts were put to rest. Senior Fish knows them some tacos.
The tacos were delicious, the salsas were amazing. And damned if that Scallop Taco wasn't just the coolest thing ever.
My favorite overall, hands down, was the potato taco. My sister's world famous versions aren't even as good (shhhh, don't tell her). They even had booze! Sangria, Margaritas and cervezas, oh my!

The only reason there are 4 shiny stars and not 5? Service leaves a bit to be desired. I'm not saying it was horrible, I got to eat and all, but I am saying the organizational process of getting someone an alcoholic beverage with their meal needs a tiny bit of work.

Regardless, I now know me some Senior Fish, and I like him a lot.

WOW. AMAZING. the food came out quick. i got the fish tacos and one of the empanadas. WOW. i couldn't believe how CHEAP it was and DELICIOUS. the place is big enough where you can sit and also enjoy the food. it's kind of this random location, which is the downside. it's also a bit far from where i live...

i normally do not eat mexican food but i would definitely recommend this place! you have not had fish tacos until you've tried senor fish!!

i live right around the corner from this place. i remember when the name kept on changing from "senior fish" to "senior fresh" to "senior fish." weird. hah

their stuff is tasty and the portions are big. fish tortas YUM. grilled fish taco sampler YUM (wayyy too much food for me, but soooo good). carne asada burritos taste like a premium burrito. it tastes like they grilled a steak, and then stuffed it in a burrito. sopes.. eh, but then again i'm not much of a fan of those in general.

the place is small, cute, and on a corner in eagle rock. they have these tables that look like polished tree trunks. pretty cool. service is good. people are friendly.

you can also try the one in little tokyo, if it's closer ;D

The BEST Senor Fish out of the 3 I've tried in the Los Angeles area.  The South Pasadena one completely blows monkey nuts.  (The food is bland and the dining area isn't well ventilated.)  The Alhambra one has good food.

But the Eagle Rock location has great food, a unique location/vibe, and killer prices.

Let's face it, in L.A. it's difficult to get a good lunch for under $7.  Most lunches are over $10, but they're not always worth it.  On your first visit, start with the fried fish taco combo.  The fish is crispy and the yogurt is the best compliment I've had on one of these.  Don't forget to hoard all the toppings you want from the salsa bar.  Happy eating!

For your subsequent visits... try the shrimp plate, the other meat tacos, and the burritos.

YUM! Senior Fish really satisfied my craving for a good taco. I probably should have gotten a seafood taco, which seemed to be their speciality, but I opted for the carnitas and pastor tacos. Although they messed up with my order and ended up giving me two pastor tacos, they were excellent...so I wasn't complaining. The chips and guacamole were really good and fresh. The only drawback was that the tacos were a bit soggy, so by the time I got to the second taco, the corn tortilla had fallen apart.

I will definitely come back to try the other options on the menu. I saw a couple with a shrimp burrito which looked amazing!

So good and so filling for so cheap!

Since Senor Fish is apparently known for their fish tacos (a board at the entrance has articles from the press raving about 'em), I went for a fish taco and a carne asada taco. Each were about $2.50, I believe. They have many different choices for tacos from carnitas to even potato, which my friend also recommended. Grilled fish taco (not fried, mind you) goes for $3.25 though and a few others do as well. Overall, still affordable. Both the fish and asada tacos hit the spot. Fish was fried and done right, not dry at all.

Of course, they also have many different plates, burritos, etc. for your liking. Oh, and if you're a fan of guacamole and/or avocados, their guacamole rules. I love when there are chunks of avocado in the guacamole. You won't be disappointed with liquefied pure mush here. And I don't know if you can necessarily rave about tortilla chips, but theirs were fried perfectly. I couldn't stop reaching for more! Guac + chip combo heaven right here!

Lately, I've been coming to Senor Fish at least every other week to get my fish burrito/taco fix. Could this be a newfound food habit like a new relationship in its early honeymoon phase? Nah...I've known Senor Fish for a while now so it's more like a relationship that blossomed only after seeing eachother again. I prefer my fish tacos grilled....not fried n' battered. And Senor Fish does it very well. I love the fact that you can pick the type of fish -  halibut, tuna, trout, salmon, sea bass, orange roughy, swordfish, etc.

I always get the tres tacos combo which comes with your choice of three fish tacos, salad or fries, and cerviche. The shrimp and scallop burritos are pretty good too. You do get all the fixin's in every bite! Not those baby shrimp either.

The food is consistently good. But the salsa bar could be better maintained though. It's messy and sometimes, it runs near empty.

Wow, I haven't been here in a while and still can't believe I didn't review this place yet... Well better late then never....
A girl i know actually lives several houses up the street from Senor Fish and she use rave about their fish and chips, on how they were really good then they changed their cook and it wasn't as good. I tried the place out for myself, to be the judge on how good this place is. Not bad at all the scallop were just melt in your mouth delicious. Try the scallop burrito, it's apparently their hit! would I go back? most likely but don't tell anyone I don't eat that much seafood even though I enjoy it, it just doesnt find itself into my daily diet. i guess this is where Senor Fish comes in, right?

Sad news.

I loved this place last time I came down to LA... but on my recent trip back, I requested we go here for dinner, but much to my bum-ness, my friends who are locals here complained that they got food poisoning from this location - specifically the carne asada. And it was BAAAD.

YUCK.

Yo quiero Senor Fish eh, essay!
Si~ Yo también!

No one at work would ever say "no" to Senor Fish! I broke my Senor virginity yesterday and it was the time of my life. The shrimp taco was phenomenal, fried battered tempura style shrimp with hot darn fresh tortilla and salsa! Yummy, yummy, I got food in my tummy~

The place is "cute." I totally felt like I was down in Mexico, well... maybe just the tourists heavy Rosarito area...

The parking here may be a problem, the private lot is really small, I think it only fits like 10 cars. We had to parallel-park on the street, which was quite simple since the place is by a residential neighborhood.

Yo quiero Senor Fish eh, vato!
Otra vez?
Ooooohhh~ Si~ Me gustan las senor fish tacos!

Take along a shovel, order the Scallop/Shrimp burrito, and be merry.

We wanted to pick up dinner to take home so we could watch the Lakers lose last night, and Senor Fish sounded really good.  We have been faithful customers of this Senor Fish for several years and have never been let down.  Their menu is extensive, the food is very good, and the prices are reasonable.

We phoned in our order ahead of time so we wouldn't have to miss any of the game.  We only had to wait about 10 minutes for our food once we got their which gave us ample time to raid the salsa bar and load up on jalapenos, radishes, lemon, salsa verde, salsa ranchero, etc...

Our order consisted of one scallop & shrimp burrito, two ceviche tostadas, four grilled fish tacos, four carne asada tacos, and four carnitas tacos.  All this delicious food for $45.00 (totally worth every penny)!  It seems like a lot of food, but our son was home last night and needed dinner also.  What a feast it was.  We knew that all of the tacos and the tostadas would be good, but this was the first time that we tried the scallop & shrimp burrito.  Damn, it was so good!  I can't wait to have another one.

Senor Fish # 2 is one of the best places to eat in Eagle Rock, and there are a lot of good places to eat in the Rock so that is saying something!

What do I love just as much as Mexican food? Mexican seafood. ::womp womp::

Anyway, I had the shrimp and scallop burrito and I was impressed with the amount of shrimp and scallop actually in the burrito. They don't skimp out on the servings and nearly every bite contained rice, beans, and a sizable piece of seafood. I like being able to eat with reckless abandon and not having to worry about whether or not I'm going to be left with a bunch of fillers ingredients...it's pure quality, baby ;D

Big plus: they have a poppin' salsa bar with about five variations of salsa. I love it. They were all very tasty, but my favorite had to be the chipotle! (I just wish the chips were just as good...p.s., they're not).

But definitely, will come back again! YAAAAAHHHHHHHMMMMM!

I have never liked fish tacos, burritos or shrimp tacos, burritos until I entered Senos Fish. This place has incredible sea food and guess what a person will only spend about $10!!!! It looks small but it has really unique indoor and outdoor sitting that adds to the entire theme. The salsa bar is awesome, not spicy enough though but its good, it doesn't ruin the taste of the food.

Señor Fish is a fantastic gem tucked away in an unlikely stretch of Eagle Rock.   This is one of the rare times where everyone in our party was raving over the food.  The outstanding dish is the fish and scallop combo with huge pieces of juicy scallops.  The portions are generous and even the salads are top notch.  The locals in our group were pleasantly surprised by the high quality and the kids wanted to come back again.  Thanks señor Fish!

When I say that I have found the cheapest and best seafood in all of Los Angeles, I doubt a small Mexican restaurant in Eagle Rock comes to mind. Believe it or not, this is the case at Senor Fish, where rainbow Christmas lights hang year-round on the wooden porch out front.

A dry-erase board inside lists the day's fresh fish specials. There are usually about eight, but they get erased as the kitchen runs out, a sign of their interest in freshness and quality. Sea bass, salmon, and swordfish tempt you away from the carnitas and asada usually ordered in a taco joint, and listings of fresh tuna and trout distract from your average pastor. Arguably the most popular dish is the Callo de Hacha, an enormous and well-constructed scallop burrito filled with spanish rice, beans, and surprisingly high-quality fish for only 6.50. Not only is this the only place I've ever seen a scallop burrito, it's also probably the only place serving multiple scallops for under seven dollars.

These flakey morsels also work their magic in the soft-shell scallop tacos, amazingly 2.75 each, topped with cilantro and cheese and served with pinto beans and rice. Despite their emphasis on fish, the asada taco was just as good, and I'm willing to bet they don't slack off on the pork or chicken dishes, either. They offer to grill any fish for you, if you prefer that texture, and any of the day's specialty seafood can be ordered in taco, burrito, tostada, torta, enchilada, and quesadilla form. The scallops in the burrito were soft and juicy, while those in the tacos were grilled to achieve an irresistible crunchy exterior.

One might think that it is easy to get away with using mediocre seafood if it is just going to be mashed up in a burrito, but I tested this theory and was shot down. The baby green salad gave the orange roughy room to shine, and shine it did. On a bed of mixed greens, avocado, and mandarin oranges and topped with cotija cheese, this fish was better in quality than a lot of what I've been served in upscale seafood restaurants. And this cost less than ten dollars.

I recommend starting with chips and guacamole, just like any other Mexican joint. Their chips are fried to the point of amazing and there is a full bar of salsa options, of which we tried at least 5. And if you think the dinner prices are cheap, head back for the lunch special, which includes a drink, rice and beans, and two tacos of your choosing for 6.50, 7.50 if you choose shrimp or scallops. And as if they hadn't spoiled us enough, they also offer a weekend breakfast menu. Next time you're craving incredibly good seafood, don't get bogged down by visions of high-class snobs, rude waiters, and depleting bank accounts. Senor Fish is making incredibly good seafood at all hours of the day, and you won't have to break the bank for any of it.

After hearing about a friend raving over and over about fish tacos, I finally had to try them. Believe me, I was skeptical at first because I couldn't imagine fish giving me a good kick to my tastebuds (which is what good tacos do). Anyways, I decided to take the leap and try it out so I could stop wondering about it...

The parking lot is tiny, so you might have to street park, especially during lunch hours. We were lucky enough to get a spot though. The place looks pretty cool. You could tell they actually put some effort into so it didn't look like every other dining establishment on this street. I felt like I was eating outside, but with the comfort of actually being inside--weird feeling to describe, I know.

I ordered the Fish Taco combo which came with beans, rice, 2 tacos, and a drink. This entire plate was enough to fill me up and knock me on my ass for the rest of my work day. I was thoroughly satisfied. The fish tacos were very refreshing compared to the carne asada tacos that I usually get at Mexican eateries. Full of flavor, and didn't make me feel "greased out" when I finished my meal. Put a splash of lime on them and some spicy salsa if you're into that, and this is probably one of the better fish tacos you'll have.

Happy eating!

Maybe it's the cleanliness, maybe it was the paint colors/decor, but the vibe of this place spells out authentic Mexican for the affluent middle class. Not that it's a bad thing, but as a Mexican American from LA, Senor Fish was a little on the sterile side.

All of that said, my dad & I had lunch here this past weekend. He got the shrimp cocktail & I got the ceviche tostada and a cheese quesadilla. He was disappointed with his cocktail - the shrimp was cut into small pieces and not plentiful but overall tasted decent. My ceviche tostada was fucking AMAZING - totally worth coming back for - and the quesadilla was on the greasy side but I know better than to expect too much from melted cheese.

There was a lot of seafood on the menu but there is also other types of meat and even vegetarian options (like potato tacos or veggie burritos) as well. And you can't go wrong with Mexican beers and horchata on the drink side (although they've got your standard sodas & water too).

I would come back here, especially because I live right down the street, but I still long for the kind of Mexican food places I grew up with in El Monte to have a presence in Eagle Rock. I guess that's what Highland Park is for though, and thank Saturn for that.

This place has amazingly cheap and delicious mexican food. The shrimp and scallop burrito is amazing, along with the fish tacos, and really any tacos. Their chips and guacamole are amazing, their sangria is tasty and fruity, and the atmosphere and people watching never fails to amuse me. The Eagle Rock crowd is definitely something to marvel at.

For the cheap prices they boast, their food is amazing. Every now and then, a dish comes along that isn't the best bang for your buck, and this is the reason it gets a 4.  They have a wide array of beer now (they just got a liquor license) along with margaritas and sangria. The quesadillas are pretty good, stuffed with cheese and great with a side of their fire-roasted salsa.

Yay!  I did not know Senor fish had no.2!  I loved the downtown one too.

They have great grilled scallop tacos and potato tacos!   So tasty, fast service, and nice patio seating.

I would definitely go back there!!!
