Review from Gretchen M.

I've been going to Self Centered Yoga for classes on and off for the past 6 months. I'm mainly a runner, and try to squeeze in yoga classes when time allows.
The studio has a relaxed atmosphere and every teacher I've had was very friendly. Most classes I've gone to have about 4-7 people in them, which is the perfect size for me. The instructors tailor the classes to everyone's abilities. Jessie is by far my favorite teacher, but I can rarely make it to her classes due to my work or running schedule. She introduced me to "lizard on a rock" and I can't thank her enough for this. I generally prefer Hatha yoga classes, but I'll forgo the Hatha to take a Vinyasa class with her if I can.
Bonus: they have water readily available (even hot water for making tea). Also, there aren't any rental charges to use mats. -

I typically do yoga at Om on the Range, but was not in the mood to be completely destroyed by one of their ridiculously hot and challenging yoga classes. I was craving a yoga class that was a little less sweat and a little more relaxation.
Enter: Self Centered Yoga. Silvita was the instructor for a hatha/vinyasa class and she could not have been sweeter. She was super encouraging and paid a lot of personal attention to each of us. I really love it when instructors do a lot of adjustments on you during class so you can get the full benefit of correct alignment in a pose. This class gave me exactly what I wanted; It was a super relaxing class but I still managed to break a sweat.
I am really looking forward to visiting this studio on a regular basis. With their $5 Friday class offering, how could I not take advantage?Listed in: Downward Dogging all over town

With a name like 'Self Centered', I was a little skeptical coming to class here on Saturday. I mean, you can't help but picture a class full of yoga pro's who scoff at the girl who can't do a downward dog properly. Alas, I was in a need of a yoga class, so off to Self Centered I went!
Upon entering and being warmly greeted by the peppy instructor, I knew I had unfairly judged the studio! Nothing vain or conceited about this place - I was a fan!
Check this out:
930am Hatha/Vinyasa 1-2 class on Saturday morning.
$8 for first-time students ($16 for everyone else).
Mats, blankets, blocks provided (and set-up!) for students.
Only 7 students in the class! Individual attention is great.
Modified poses for beginners.
EYE PILLOWS for the end of class!
Music playing during class! I like!
No intimidation at all!
Overall calming atmosphere. Ahhhhh.
The teacher, Mary Lou, (I think?), was AWESOME! Super friendly and cheery and definitely helped me correct my poses to get the best stretch. The yoga class definitely made me feel great and really relaxed the entire weekend! Can't wait to go back for another one!Listed in: Yoga-ing...and More

I went here because I found a Groupon for it and I am 100% hooked! I'd stopped taking yoga for awhile because of what I refer to as a "Bad Bikrim Experience" (I was scolded in front of the class for drinking water) and I'd forgotten the amazing results of a fantastic yoga class / teacher. All the teachers have been fabulous and the class size is perfect. I will be using my last Groupon and then buying another package tonight :)

I was visiting in town from MI and a little scared to take a yoga class in the big city... I could not have been more wrong! I felt completely comfortable to do yoga in my own body at my own pace without feeling competitive. Just enough body asana and spirituality. Shannon is wonderful!

If I could give Self Centered a sixth star, I would! There is no reason NOT to check this place out if you are at all curious about yoga. After all, your first class is $8, and all Friday classes are always $5! That is a phenomenal deal for an hour long class taught by excellent instructors.
The instructor I had (Karen) was as nice as could be . I was so thrilled that she explained things in plain ol' English in addition to speaking "Yogese". She was also so fantastic about offering personal attention as needed to those attending. It's a small, intimate and comfortable studio .Ideal!
I had not taken a yoga class in over three years, so I was afraid I'd feel out of place or just plain klutzy. No need to feel that way- I promise you. Whether you've been at it for a while, whether you are rusty OR completely new to yoga, you are in the best of hands here and you will leave class feeling great! -

I have been to three classes at Self Centered Yoga. What a great little place! Silvita, the instructor for the Gentle Yoga class, is wonderful and very helpful with new students. The studio is small and very laid back. I must admit that I was a little intimidated to try yoga but have always felt welcomed at this studio. They have plenty of mats, blocks, blankets, etc and there is no additional charge to use anything. I will definitely continue going there! Three cheers for Self Centered Yoga!

I'm new to yoga and had never been to a formal yoga class until I went to Self Centered's Friday 11am class. Karen is the instructor and she does a wonderful job of helping those who may be new to yoga while catering to the experienced yogis in the room as well. The session is only $5 and that is money very well spent! I always leave feeling like I've had a great workout.

"Yoga" and "laid back" may sound redundant, but this place is awesome because it's a small, casual studio with friendly staff who don't cop 'tude at idiots like me who can't hold a pose for more than two seconds. I've taken classes with Claire, Libby, and Karen, and they were all encouraging, accommodating, and talented. The studio runs rate specials all the time, and the pay-as-you-go policy doesn't make me feel guilty if a skip a week or six.

I love the small size and intimacy of this studio. Plus the owner, Julie, is really nice. My favorite class is Claire's Monday 6pm class. She has a relaxing style and is good about teaching to all levels. And you can't beat a $5 class! (friday @ 6pm)

I cannot say enough great things about this yoga studio...
1) The class sizes are perfect
2) They just added a 6am class on Wednesday!! I went this morning and could not be happier. What a great way to start your day!
3) Every instructor I have had has been patient, motivational, spiritual, and humble. I've taken classes with Julie, Silvita, Mary Lou, and Rachel, and each one was fantastic! Classes always seem to strike a balance between challenging and peaceful.
I've been to several different yoga studios in the city, and Self Centered Yoga is by far my favorite! -

This very very new yoga studio is a great space with some excellent teachers. Easy street parking, *nice* brand-new free mats and props, air conditioning, and the owner's adorable daughter make for a great experience. Really really good tea, too. All the teachers seem to teach mainly at other studios, but there still seemed to be consistency among them...great vinyasa/hatha practices with wonderful verbal guidance, assists, and eyepillowed savasana bliss at the end. Come discover it before everyone else for sure.

We had and hope to continue to have great time doing yoga here. It is very friendly place with encouraging and knowledgeable staff. We love classes held by Julie but I am sure other instructors are just as good. I second positive things other reviewers said so I will not repeat. Highly recommend it, both beginners and more experienced practitioners.

I love Self Centered. I've only been to two classes, but both were great. There is no attitude here whatsoever. Whether you are an expert or novice, the teachers all treat you very warmly. Since they are still new, classes aren't crowded. My first class had only one other patron and in my second class there were only three of us. While I hope more people start using them, I will admit it's nice to have the personal attention, too. Walk-in price for Fridays is only $5, which you can't beat. Libby was a fantastic teacher. I highly recommend her class (check their online schedule).

Self Centered Yoga is a great yoga studio with great teachers and a great space. I've gone a number of times and have taken classes with a number of different teachers and have had an all around excellent experience. The teachers are all incredibly skillful and helpful and providing tips. They also are incredibly understanding of everyone's abilities and everyone's strengths and weaknesses. I had never taken a yoga class before and am generally not terribly flexible, but I never felt out of place there. And because the classes are pretty small (since the studio is pretty small, there could never be a huge class there), the teachers are able to provide individual attention and assistance to students. The studio provides yoga mats and other materials that are necessary, so no need to bring your own.
