Awesome little shop in the East Village! Katie, the owner, is as nice as can be and contributes her own creations to items that are for sale. Everything is handmade (lots from local artists) and really reasonably priced for the great quality you are getting.
This place saved our bacon for Christmas, helping with those last minute purchases in one swoop. What a sweet little store! Katie has a fantastic eye for selecting eclectic handmade clothes, jewelry and assorted bits and pieces that make for good gifts. If you see something you like, ask about it and you'll get the history of the piece or an anecdote about its maker. It doesn't hurt that See Jane is located in the Broadlind building, one of the prettiest in Long Beach.
so i FINALLY dropped in last night... given the name of this place, i did expect a girlie-r kinda shop. but i was pleasantly surprised to find a shop with very unique clothing, jewelry, and accessories that was mostly organic and handmade. or is it organically handmade? not too sure, but i picked up a couple of really chic pieces, and found the shop, ambiance, and owner to be very pleasant. a little pricey, but everything was 40% off (but that sales ends soon!), except stuff already marked down (a decent sales rack outside). no matter, it's great to support local artists and businesses, so go see jane.

Making stuff is what I do. Whether it is to sell or to give away to friends, it has been a passion of mine for all of my life. I figured if I feel this way there must be many others that do also, so I set about to find the best of the best and put them in one store, so that people could see what handmade is all about. I want people to understand that things made by hand are made with love, attention to detail and quality products. They are not mass produced in a foreign country with little to no quality control. They are obsessed over by their maker and although they may be a little higher priced, as no children have been hired to make them, they are worth every penny. Making stuff is what I do and its what a lot of other people do as well. Please take the time to appreciate quality handmade products and if/when in the LBC come to See Jane...
