First of all, I'm glad no one has given directions on how to get here! Let it remain Secret Cove. Truthfully, it's not that secret (but then again, I live in Incline) and it's really not that difficult to get to. The steep hike mentioned earlier is fairly short, but it definitely will take your breath away (and so will the views).
There used to be a sign on the path that warned of possible nude sunbathers, but it's been stolen so many times that I guess they gave up on replacing it so often.
There are a few more gorgeous beaches farther down the main trail. You kinda have to know which ones are family friendly and which ones are the nudists beaches.
Respect yourself, nature, and others, and Tahoe will always be this beautiful and free.
Also, this place is NOT good for kids unless parents are comfortable with full nudity.

This beach is difficult to find but is well worth the effort. From the paved parking lot, there is a dirt fire road that starts next to the bathroom..stay on the dirt fire road...(DO NOT take the path that leads down to the beach).. After about 1/2 mile on the dirt fire road, you'll come to another set of bathrooms, just past these bathrooms, take the path that leads down to the lake. Almost everyone goes naked and the south end of the beach tends to be the gay end, with more gay men laying out on the boulders just past the beach. The other nice thing about this beach is that there aren't many children running around like at the other nude beaches to the north or south beach.

An amazing little nude beach, tucked far away from the foot path and totally worth the hike. I go here every summer and spend a week chugging beer on the shore of beautiful Lake Tahoe. It's a super-welcoming place; you *will* meet "The Mayor" your first day there.
The rules:
-Be naked. Nobody cares what you look like, but they DO care if you sit around clothed and gawking.
-Clean up after yourself. This is a tiny, pristine beach and should stay that way.
-Be friendly! It's not like you have to make a whole new set of best friends here, but you probably will anyway.
SUCH a great place! I wanna move to the Tahoe area just so I can live on this beach!

Wow. I mean, wow! Besides Costa Rica, this is the best/most gorgeous beach I've ever been to in my life. Boater's Beach & Secret Cove are connected, separated only by a pile of boulders. You can also walk along paths that connect the two.
Why is this spot so magical? It's hard to find and difficult to reach when you do find it. There are no signs indicating that you've arrived. There is a very steep, very strenuous path to the beach, which will deter large crowds. There are no amenities, no facilities, no restaurants anywhere nearby. No trash cans! No vendors! You will sweat on arrival and departure. You will gasp for air. You may even meet naturalists (nudists!). And when you endure all of that...you'll experience a very peaceful and beautiful (rare) remarkable landscape of nature.
So if you have kids or a big group or a family reunion, you should head elsewhere. And that's exactly what I love about it! Sorry white families, but you're dominating Tahoe. Secret Cove is not for you, Amen. This is a place for nudist, drinkers, dog owners, and people who respect the beach. To enjoy this spot, you must take responsibiltity for your stay--mind your trash, your pets, your kids, your impact.
The Leave No Trace (pack it in, pack it out) policy is in full effect, and the immaculate beach shows it. I walked the entire length of the beach and found only one bottle cap and one cotton ball as refuse, as compared to Kings Beach and Sand Harbor, which were both littered with cigarette butts and tid bits of trash galore.
Having said all of that, on the Boater's Beach side, you'll share the beach with all of the Boat People. The Boat People have the luxury of riding up, setting up, and taking off whenever they feel like it. They pay no fee. They need not hike nor sweat. They just do as boat people do. They keep Tahoe Blue. Or wait, is that the SUV people!?
Anyway, the rest of us hikers and campers and laid back, respectful drink-a-beer-on-the-beach folk, are just keepin' it simple. Public beach = FREE parking. It's all access. All who respect this place are welcome here. Show up with your best pal (human or dog), enjoy the most amazing view you've ever seen, and thank your lucky stars that you were able to experience Secret Cove, if for only one afternoon.
