My husband & I stayed here for 3 nights for our anniversary celebration, our first time to Pismo.  We thought it was a great resort, having the steps to the beach access was fantastic!  Our room was small but quaint with fireplace and hot tub on our own private deck with partial view of the ocean.   Having the hot tub was amazing, we used it morning and night literally.  In the room snack basket ($$) you have the opportunity to purchase spa scents for the hot tub, which was nice, you get 6 in a pouch for $6.99.  The king bed with like 20 pillows on it was sooo comfy.  I wish I had one like it at home.  Slept great.  The resort lets guests use their bike cruisers for strolls around town, slong with free wifi, kites, beach towels & chairs, that was really nice and convenient.   I especially loved the continental breakfast delivered to your room every morning.  Just fill out the card with breakfast selection and hang it outside your door by 10pm every evening.  I think this resort was the first place we stayed at that you didn't have to drag yourself out of bed to try to make it down before the continental breakfast times ended.  That was really nice.

My husband & I also booked a couple massage at the spa.  The therapists were great.  The only issue we had was that there was a lot of noise going on outside of our massage room from the cleaning crew.  Lots of talking, radio chatter going back & forth and  vacuums running.  Thankfully that only went on for 5 minutes or so.  That was a little bit of damper on the experience.  They really need to change the location of the spa room or build sound proof rooms or something.  Other than this, our massage experience was great.

We dined one night at the SeaVenture restaurant and sat in the lounge for tapas and cocktails.   We ordered the primerib sliders, the bruschetta & stuff mushrooms.  All was very tasty.  Service was good.

We really liked it here and would definitely stay here again on furture travels to Pismo.

Second stay at this hotel with my boyfriend. The first time we stayed in the Spa Deluxe room with partial ocean view and it was awesome! We loved (and still love) the king bed, fireplace, free bike rentals, balcony with spa, adorable room delivered breakfast, and location! This hotel is very clean and a really nice stay, just pricey is all. Our second stay we just had a regular room, which was fine, still has nice bed and fireplace. My only two complaints would be the room being very stuffy the day we arrived and dirty sheets. Yuuckk. It was like coffee/some type of liquid stains in a few places. Didn't notice until the next morning so we didn't bother saying anything.

Oh yeah and we also got a couple swedish massages that were FAB!

Bottom line, a great hotel :)

There's enough special amenities here that makes this place a good experience:
    - private jacuzzi on your balcony (large enough for 2-3 people)
    - steps from the beach
    - stocked refrigerator
    - bikes, kites, wifi, beach chairs included with $5 resort fee and free parking
    - fireplace in the room
    - a modest breakfast delivered to your door every morning
    - Walking distance to great eateries like Splash Cafe

But there was also enough to make me want to not stay here next time we're in Pismo Beach.  I couldn't get over the fact that I felt like it was in an '80s time warp.  Seeing all the brass accents and green carpeting and walls made me feel like Zack Morris was gonna pop outta the walls with his brick phone and high top sneakers.  The room is also fairly small.  Things that I could live with... if we hadn't paid soo much for the room.  I know that the $319/night is partly due to a summer price tag, but for that much I expect so much more.  I kept thinking that if they charge their guests that much, they would've renovated their rooms outta the '80s by now.  I can't wait to come back to Pismo Beach, but to the SeaVenture... not so much.

My wife and I stayed at the Sea Venture for the second time a few months ago and had another wonderful stay. The ocean view is spectacular both from our room and the restaurant. They are right on the beach and a short walk to the pier and down town Pismo Beach. Great place to stay for a romantic get away or to take the family.

    One of my favorite getaways!

Hotel: friendly staff and the hotel is ON THE BEACH (you can't beat the location), and they have free bikes to use if you want

Rooms: The ocean view room is comfortable, nice fireplace, love the spa on the balcony, and love eating breakfast on the balcony with that beautiful ocean view.  Make sure you don't get a room by the bar if you want to relax, it is a little loud.
The Boardwalk Spa room is nice because you can literally walk out the door and you are at the beach.  It is a little more noisy because you are on the ground level, but it is good for people watching.  There was a wedding going on right in front of our room on the beach while we were there.

Food: breakfast comes with your room and they deliver it each morning in a basket, you can pick what items you want the evening before.  They have room service and a restaurant on site but I haven't tried either one, we usually go out to the local restaurants.

Parking: the parking is good and in a covered lot

We stayed here for a wedding last weekend, and boy did I have a blast here!

Parking: free covered parking, no issues parking near the beach.

Staff:  They were all attentive and helpful.  They catered to all my simple requests, and I thank them!

Cleaning crew:  They were fast, and did a great job.  Even the spa cleaner drained our spa, cleaned it, and refilled it.  Excellent!

Our Deluxe Spa Room:  Not bad, a little small, but clean.  Nice side view of the beach. Clean bed with plenty of pillows. Small fridge/honor bar.  Soft water.  Free wifi.  A lot of amenities.

I'd love give this place four stars, but I just can't agree with pricing.  Call me cheap, but I guess that's the price you pay for being on the beach.  They make up for it by giving all the free goodies, and discounts.  Others resorts in the area have beach view at lower prices, but not on the beach.

As far as honeymooners, lets hope you don't run into a wedding reception on the 3rd floor.  Great place to have a reception, but all I can say is good luck seeking peace and tranquility, because boy were we loud.  The reception at the restaurant, took over almost the whole 3rd floor, and the doors are thin.  We made a lot of noise, and I can just imagine how many complained the next morning.  But of course, if you're part of the party, walking from the reception to my room was very convenient!!!  Good times!!!

I have to admit that I am a fan ... just like the four stars says. Right on the beach, this is a fantastic little boutique hotel that we often use for "Staycations" to celebrate Valentine's Day, Birthdays and Anniversaries. From the moment you pull into the covered parking, you feel appreciated and well taken care of.

The front desk staff is always friendly ... the lobby complete with fireplace roaring on chilly days, or with doors open to the sea breezes in the Summer/Fall. After efficiently taking care of us including booking our dinner reservations (which we always do at the restaurant located at the top of the hotel so that we can have a bottle of wine or a martini with dinner and not worry about the drive), we usually find our room on the corner-view locations. It's a little more affordable and still allows you a view of the ocean, privacy from the rooms to your right and left, and that wonderful, relaxing hot tub on the deck!

The rooms are decorated in what I would call "East Hampton Beach style" -- with beds and other furniture made out of what looks like white picket fencing -- and cute features like a white-washed armoire to hide the television, which we typically leave off when we are here. The fireplace is a great addition -- because even during the summer the beach can get a little crisp at night.

Each room has a wet bar fully stocked with snacks and assorted drinks. With the refrigerator it makes bringing cocktail hour drinks and picnic items very easy.

While we have dined at the Sea Venture Restaurant many times, most of the time we are enjoying their Tapas  -- primarily cooked right in the large center bar area by the great Chef Craig! We love grabbing an outdoor table -- screened from wind by glass and heated with patio heaters -- and people watching as the beach goers amble by. There we share two or three of the scrumptious appetizers -- my husband's favorites are the perfectly cooked tenderloin tips and the oysters on the half shell. Mine are the "pizzetta of the day" and the nachos. A great wine list and martini menu complete the experience. But don't discount the main restaurant -- we have hosted events in the banquet rooms and celebrated New Year's with their "prix fixe" menus and never been disappointed. From fresh seafood to superior steaks and specialty dishes, the Sea Venture is above average in hotel restaurant fare.

So from the fluffy down-filled beds to the relaxing hot tubs and cozy fireplaces ... nestled right on the boardwalk and steps from the sand and Pacific ... and with a delicious restaurant to boot ... this boutique hotel has it all. You won't need to leave the building for the weekend!

This property has the potential to be a 5 star with their location, private balconies with personal hot tubs; resort amenities such as use of beach cruisers, beach towels, beach chairs; free wifi and so much more.

I can't give this hotel a higher rating for a few reasons.  It is a little outdated (the marble tile was extremely outdated); the rooms were very small and they do not have many ocean view options for more than 2 guests.  We have 2 children and were stuck in a double double room with a hideous view.  What a shame to be that close to the beach and not be able to look out the window to enjoy it.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and really didn't have to drive anywhere since this was walking distance to just about everywhere we wanted to go in town.  The breakfast was decent, but it doesn't claim to be more than that so we were not disappointed.  I would consider staying here again if we were in an ocean view room.

We got married a few weeks ago, at the Sea Venture and I just can't say anything negative about the whole experience!

The whole area is just so pretty and quaint. My family and guests enjoyed the entire experience and everyone raved about the service they received.

As for the wedding, Lauren and Tina did an amazing job for us! They took care of everything and told me where to go and when. And Simon was great too, in the restaurant. All of my family and guests went on about how much they enjoyed the hotel.

We had the salmon and steak at our reception and the food was delicious. Service was outstanding. A great time was had by all!

I was a little surprised when they told us they did not have air conditioning, due to the sea breezes, but we honestly didn't need the AC at all.

It was a perfect wedding experience and I can't wait to spend our anniversaries here!

I just got home from Pismo last night and I already miss the bed with a million pillows, the fire place, and the awesome private hot tub.  I have passed through Pismo driving to SF and I always wanted to go back for a weekend get away.  Me and my boyfriend decided to check into the Sea Venture for a weekend.  We both were impressed with how cozy our room was, yes, it's a tad dated and small, but it's clean and well maintaned which is all that matters to me.

I was a little skeptical about the hot tub because I don't usually use public tubs because they always look dirty or make me sick.  Our tub was very clean and looked brand new, if it was dirty my body would have reacted to it instantly.  The staff was very helpful and attentive, and our breakfast baskets always arrived on time.

The only thing that took getting used to was the soft water in the showers. I always felt like I still had soap on me, but once I got out and dried off it felt amazing, my skin was glowing!  I also received a nice deep tissue massage from a very nice gentleman and he even went over our scheduled time which was a nice treat.

I would reccomend this place for a romantic get away.  I don't think we turned the TV on one time.

Just came back from a weekend in Pismo Beach with my girlfriends. Overall, I'd give SeaVenture 4 stars.

There are many good things about the hotel:
    -free covered parking
-free breakfast basket delivered to your door (you can get coffee/tea/hot cocoa, bagel/muffin/cereal, oj/apple juice/milk, and yogurt/fresh fruit/string cheese)
-you can probably find a good rate on Travelzoo
    -fireplace in every room
-hot tub on your private balcony
    -located right on the beach
    -free bikes to use
    -free wine tasting passes
    -free wifi

The only thing I'd complain about is the hotel is a little dated and the rooms are kinda small. However, our room was clean,  comfortable, quiet, and the surrounding area is safe. I'd definitely recommend SeaVenture to anyone who is looking for a good hotel in Pismo Beach!

We traveled to Pismo Beach to visit the Central Coast wine region in October 2010.  My husband and I honeymooned at the SeaVenture Resort in 1997 and have always wanted to return, but felt that the standard off-season rate of $199 per night for a mid-week visit was a bit out of our price range.  However, we received an email notification from "Travel Zoo's Top 20 of the Week" for $99 per night for a partial ocean view room (Sunday-Thursday) and immediately decided to take advantage of the deal.

LOCATION: The SeaVenture Resort is located directly on the beach unlike many other Pismo Beach hotels that are located on a cliff without easy beach access.  The hotel provides plenty of free parking in their street level parking structure with an additional level of parking underground with elevator access to all levels of the hotel.  There are many restaurants and shops located within a 2-block walk radius of the hotel.  We like to stay in Pismo Beach for its central location to the wine regions of Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara County.  The nearby restaurants can be costly, but the Splash Café has the best clam chowder on the entire coast of California and you can get a meal at a reasonable price.

CHECK-IN PROCESS - Check in time is 4:00pm and we arrived just about that time, so there were no problems.  Upon registering, the desk clerk informed us that there was a $5 resort fee in addition to the nightly rate.  The $5 per day resort fee includes, a continental breakfast and a USA Today newspaper delivered to your room each morning, use of the beach cruiser bicycles, beach towels, beach chairs, wired and wireless internet within your room, and covered parking.  You may also use the computer and internet located within the lobby.  Since we took advantage of the TravelZoo offer, we were offered a free flight of wine tasting and 50% off a 2nd entrée in the SeaVenture Restaurant located on the 3rd floor.  We were also provided with a complimentary bottle of wine from Sextant Winery and a $10 discount for a massage.

ROOM- The rooms are the main attraction at this boutique hotel!  Most rooms offer an in-room fireplace, private balcony with a Jacuzzi, king-size featherbed (with about 6 pillows), refrigerator, coffee maker, Honor Bar, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and two fluffy robes.  Our bathroom interior was a large marbled shower stall (no tub) with excellent water pressure and very soft water.    Watching TV consists of about 30+ channels including HBO on a 32-inch TV console that is not a flat screen plasma or LCD.  Our room was a partial ocean view room, but we could see the ocean and beach just fine.  Both the area and hotel are very quiet at night.  The room was very clean and each day, the housekeeping service provides a decent sized bottle of shampoo, conditioner, and lotion.

We loved just about every amenity offered, but we were disappointed by the lack of a nightstand (no place to put my drink or eyeglasses each night) and the featherbed toppers did not fit the bed properly and kept sliding off.  I think they could do a little more updating by providing memory foam toppers and an LCD TV.

I almost hate leaving a review because I want to keep this little gem to myself, but that would not be very yelpful of me.

We went to SeaVenture for a three night romantic getaway last week and it was just perfect. We were gonna hit up Vegas but after watching a"Rehab" marathon on TV we kinda changed our mind. So last minute my GF booked a trip here and the staff was so helpful! Not in just getting us a room but the price and package that would best suit us...very refreshing.

The hotel and restaurant is within walking distance to town (not much of a town but plenty to keep you busy for a few days). The true selling point of this resort is the location....it's totally freaking on the beach.

Like, if you were any closer you'd need a boat and a rubber ducky.

Now, we researched this 3 day getaway and we ended up choosing SeaVenture because of the value. Our package (3 night stay buy two 3rd night free) was perfect for a last minute destination. We spent around $770.00 (we used the minibar a little) but for the money we got:

Most importantly, the beds were really comfortable and you get like 50 pillows.

    Truly a magnificent view!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have the option to upgrade to an ocean view do it (upgrade was $25.00). We did all their was to do in Pismo and it's a fun, cute little town but having the balcony with views of the huge beach, pier, mountains, and priceless sunsets...we really didn't want to leave the room.

The view (except the mountains) reminded me of the East coast like the outer banks in NC, loved it!!

So just for a moment imagine seeing another amazing sunset. You go lie down on your comfy, 50 pillow adorned bed with the sound of the ocean melting the stress of work further and further away.

Suddenly feel kinda cold....what in the world am I to do...ohh yeah just turn a switch and fire appears by magic. It actually heats the room really fast. Now, if you go there, avoid having to call the FD on how to work the damn thing (they laughed as if they answer this question 50 times a day) and just turn the thermostat on the wall all the way to the left or right (I forget) and it will turn on.

The mini bar was typical. The nonalcoholic stuff was reasonable but you have a few options down the street to bring your munchies back to your room so save your hard earned cash. Whatever you do, don't eat the beef jerky it's like 11 Buck's that price you can just get room service.

The room had a table that would comfortably fit two people for dinner, a small wicker chair next to bed, an average size TV (If they would just update the TVs it would make a world of difference) and a good sized closet.

The other big plus was the hot-tub on the balcony. Yes, it has a freaking hot-tub that fits two!

OK, I have to admit, that first night it was a blast to end the night with champagne in the hot-tub. Wait, EVERY NIGHT it was a blast to freaking end the day in the hot-tub! Unfortunately folks, this is NOT a time-travel tub so no adventures in the 1980's, sorry.

Side note, they do clean the hot-tub. As we tanned drinking cold beer on the balcony we saw the staff cleaning the tubs which made us happy :O)

Did I mention we got a free bottle of white, sparkling, or red each night of our stay...yeah that kicked some ass!

    Free Wi-fi

    Free daily USA Today paper

Ohh, room service from the restaurant (which has bar w/views) was nice and fast!

The best for last BREAKFAST DELIVERED TO YOUR ROOM DAILY. When on vacation, who wants to go down to some community place where grumpy people eat breakfast in silence when the staff can just hand it to you in a cute picnic basket?!

Fill out a card and you will get:

cereal, sweet muffin, bran muffin (for you regular folks) tea, coffee, orange juice, milk, u get the idea

The live music in the bar was great!

Free beach cruiser rentals (no locks), beach chairs, and a wine tour w/transportation.

Complaints? Not many, small stuff really.

The resort is a little dated. Personally, I found it very charming and relaxed. Some of you may want the "ultra high end resort" and this really is not that type of place. I'm glad it's not!

We had Q-tips/cotton balls in the bathroom the first day (was kinda nice to have that bathroom jazz after the beach) but the staff did not replace it until we said something. Now, that's small potatoes. I mean at least we did not have to request additional toilet paper...ummm yeah we had to request that too :o( A 1/4 roll will not last 3 days. Our room was below the restaurant and a few times I heard noise that, if I were at work, would annoy me, but it seems to die down around 11 pm. Small stuff, but the places that anticipate and correct or always exceed expectations can make a vacation.

We loved our time at SeaVenture, the town and residents of Pismo and will certainly make this a yearly ritual.

Thank you Sea Venture staff for a wonderful vacation!

Using resort standard for comparison, it will be just average.  But if using 3-star hotel standard, it exceeds the expectation.

Why?  Resort is a place for relaxation and recreation.  SeaVenture offer a little bit for both. (i.e. spa on-site, hot tub on balcony, small souvenir corner in lobby, few beach chair/kite/bikes for loan.)  Friendly staff in lobby makes you feel comfortable but the dated/small room with ceiling fan makes me feel a bit suffocated.  Might be it is just the room we got.  A feet between one of the double beds and the fireplace makes no sense at all as it gets too warm for that bed and it ends up we've to switch the fireplace off, which is the only heating mechanism in the room.

Another thing is noise from hallway; starting from 6-7am, noise from delivering breakfast to neighbor and walkie talkie noise from cleaning staff are enough to keep you awake.

Based on other reviews, there was a very good rate($99) going on earlier and was 30% lower than what we paid.  If that deal comes across, it worths to give it a try as the location of this place is very convenient.  (Right off the beach and few small blocks from pier.)

We loved this place! Stayed for one night (wish I could have stayed just one more!) for an early Valentine's day getaway last week.

Check-in was quick- and so nice. I don't know if it was because it was a Thursday or what but we were able to check-in at 1:30pm. I told the girl at the counter I knew we were early but that we had just gotten into town and wanted to just see if we could check-in early. She "shuffled things around" and worked something out for us. I love accommodating customer service!!

The room was super clean, comfy and I had an ocean-view!! Although it's considered a "partial view" the private patio's chairs were set up on the just perfectly to view the ocean. I LOVED all the pillows on the bed and the soap in the soap dispenser (I realize this seems so unimportant, but it's so much more less wasteful... that makes me happy!).

This place was super quiet! Awkwardly quiet in the lobby (Seems they need some music playing or something) and quiet in the room.... just loved it and can't wait for our next chance to go!

This Hotel and restaurant are AMAZING!!! It is literally right on the beach. You can walk out the lobby door and straight onto the beach. They even have a playground on the beach for little ones.

The room rate includes use of bikes, beach chairs, kites and beach towels. Probably more but thats all i can remember! From check-in to check-out the staff is SUPER friendly and willing to help with anything! It is a very short walk to downtown, and they have a boardwalk that goes along the beach straight to the pismo pier!!

Almost every room has a spa on the patio and is smoker friendly, which is a rarity these days, even thought the rooms are non-smoking. They deliver breakfast to your room each day included in the room cost as well!! The bar is only open til 10 so even if you end up under it or near it, you still get a great night sleep!!

I just had my wedding there July 23 2011. And they went above and beyond making sure it was an amazing day for us and our guest.

We always stay here when we are in Pismo and in the last 4 years haven't had a SINGLE thing to complain or be mad about! In my opinion it is the BEST hotel EVER. I compare all other hotels to it (which isnt really fair, because its soo amazing) lol.

I just cant say enough great things about this place. You must see it to believe it!!

We had our wedding here just 3 weeks ago.  It is a beautiful venue for a wedding, and our guests are still RAVING about the food and wine.   The staff with which you work while coordinating your wedding is so helpful, and the ceremony and reception went as smooth as glass.
Aside from the wedding perspective:  The rooms are tiny for the price, and in desperate need of updating!  The front desk staff got easily "overwhelmed" when multiple reservations began showing up for check-in, and became borderline "terse" with a number of my guests waiting to check in.   If you're coming to attend a wedding, get married, or just eat in the restaurant, then this place is the bomb.  To be brusquely checked in just to  stay in one of the expensive cramped, dark green rooms... well, minus one star.

This was our first stop on our honeymoon. They started us off right! The hotel is right on the beach, they have bikes to rent if you want to cruise. The room is a little small but extremely comfortable, besides you don't need a lot of space there because you are right on the beach so you are not going to be in the room very often. Even if you are in the room, you are going to be out on the balcony enjoying the cool ocean breeze and beautiful view. It had an awesome private hot tub on the balcony. It was very clean and already heated for us. The view from the room is great. Walking distance to everything you would need in a beach town. Make sure you go to the 3rd floor restaurant . The food was very good and the view was gorgeous. Service was friendly and very helpful. I have already recommended this place to my brother in law. He and his girl friend are going next week.

I found this hotel on Orbitz and chose it because it was right on the beach and the fact they had a fireplace and jacuzzi on the balcony.  Other bonus features included free wifi, breakfast picnic delivered to room, free beach cruisers to use.

I stayed with my fiance, and we got the upgraded room for ocean view, which was worth it ($209/night I believe).  You get a private balcony so no one can really see into your room from the beach.  The room itself is dated from the 80s with dark green walls, white furniture and pink tile in the bathroom.  When we came in the jacuzzi was warm,...  make a note if you want it HOT to turn it on hours to warm up before you want to get in.

We got a massage on the first night, by two women named Dianne.  (As soon as we arrived at the hotel, they gave us a $10 discount coupon for this, so I was very happy I didn't book the room special with massage included.  I would have, but it wasn't for the ocean view room.)  So our massage people  were older women and actually did a pretty BAD job with both our massages.  I got aroma therapy massage and didn't smell the oils at all.  The music came out of a boom box hidden in a covered shelf.  Water trickled in a small fountain by the sink.  Both of us agree that the massages were too soft, we made comments for more pressure the whole time.  It felt like she was just touching my skin and not massaging the muscles!  So lame, I didn't even feel like I had a massage as soon as I left.  We paid $75 and $85 after the $10 discount.  I recommend going somewhere else in town if you want a good massage.

This is one resort that has really good customer service.  Sometimes, the positive attitude of the staff at any particular location is really all that matters.  And my experience here was very good.  I was a bit frustrated when I first walked in because I had gotten lost (I bought my Nuvi a couple months later).  The staff at the front desk were very helpful and very understanding.  I had originally asked for one of the cheaper rooms that had a jacuzzi.  None of those were available, so they upgraded me for free to one of the best rooms with a jacuzzi.  Later that evening, I wanted to walk around a bit to unwind.  One of the employees saw me wandering aimlessly and gave me some tips on some places down the road and down the beach to check out.  The beach is gorgeous, but it was incredibly foggy in the morning.

The room was a bit smaller than I was expecting, but that was okay with me.  The bed was SO COMFORTABLE.  And the jacuzzi was nice and relaxing.  I was somewhat apprehensive at first, because the tub was out on the balcony and the folks in the building across the way can see you.  But then I got over it.  Relaxing in a hot tub in the cool night breeze took my paranoia away.

If you like being close to the beach, this is the place to stay.  And the very helpful employees are an added bonus.

I'm sorry.  I hate removing stars - but after two nights of listening to rumbling upstairs from the restaurant, even I can't be that patient.  I tried.  I should have been warned first.  Noise usually went on until around 11:30p, and then started up again around 6:30am.  Not cool.

And the doors to the rooms are very thin.  You can hear all from the hall.

Splurge on something that's ocean view - and on the third floor.  I was on the side, overlooking junky backyards, and the sound from the other units totally echoed through our L shaped building configuration - and straight into my room.  I do have to say, when you close the patio door, you don't hear the noise outside anymore.

No AC in the room, but there is a ceiling fan that works great.  Great location - can't beat the walk right onto the beach, and then the 10 minute walk along the boardwalk to the little downtown area.

I guess if I had a different room, it would still be 4 stars.  Very friendly service - both from room service and the front desk.  I totally give 5 stars to them.

From beginning to end I was impressed with this resort. The staff was so nice. I forgot my camera in our room and I called the front desk from Morro Bay. I asked them to take a look in my vacated room to see if my camera was there and it was-I had forgotten it. The staff put it in a box and sent it my home at no charge-we left there Sunday morning and the camera was at my door on Wednesday. It was one of those little gestures that make you want to go back again. The room was lovely and very cozy. I like the cabinet that you opened to find the TV set. The hot tub was fun and worked perfectly. Even the breakfast was plenty for the two of us and presented in a basket like a picnic. A great place for a romantic weekend or vacation.

We stayed in this hotel in the spring, and had a very nice and relaxing weekend at the place. We didn't eat here or order room service, but we did get the complimentary breakfast each day. This was really a highlight - it was included in the cost of the room, and was really good and delivered right to your room. You get a basket with two beverages (coffee, juices, etc), two choices of food (such as toast, muffins, fruit, and so on), jam and condiments. I think that was it. But it was a big value-add - that sort of thing in any other hotel would run well over $20 I'm sure.

The hotel itself is right on the (gorgeous) beach, and had complementary bikes and such that you could take out (we didn't, and just walked - but saw others taking advantage of this, and the equipment looked to be in good shape).

The room had a gas fireplace, and there was a hot tub out on the deck. Everything was nice and clean, although the room was a tad dark (the dark paint accentuated this) -- it made the room seem smaller than it actually was. There's also a small bar sink/fridge in the place and a small table and chairs, as per usual.  The bed wasn't super comfortable though.

We would stay there again, but might prefer to try out other places next time just to see what's around. Would recommend this hotel though.  Look for deals on the interweb.

Pricey, but not that bad for Pismo on the beach. The ocean view room with the private balcony hot tub was great. But the really superb part was the food at the 3rd floor restaurant. Wonderful! There is an apple, ice cream, and caramel desert that was the best desert I've eaten anywhere. Even if you don't stay at the hotel eat dinner there. It's also quit romantic!

I REALLY like this place for cocktails and Happy Hour. It is very convenient for me as a local and I enjoy meeting other locals there. They have the best what I call "FOO FOO DRINKS" menu ever. My biggest problem is what to decide on. On a warm day their patio is the end all view here on the coast. Even if the weather is brisk, they have heaters to keep people happy on the patio. Their chicken fingers appetizer is a meal alone and quite reasonable. They also have sweet potatoe fries that are just yummy. They also have free wine tastings and live music on occasions. Can you ask for more?

Only went to this resort because of a wedding. The rooms are decorated with white beachy wood, picket fence. Very nice I thought. The rooms that we saw were small for the price they had to pay. I think they had continental breakfast. Otherwise, if your a beach person and would rather be on the beach than stay indoors then this will be a good place. Right on Pismo Beach and couple blocks from the shopping strip.

The wedding reception took place at the restaurant upstairs. I thought the catered menu was very good. Especially the caesar salad!

Is there something wrong with the plumbing here?  I first stayed at the Sea Venture a few years ago on a business trip.  During my first week, the ceiling in my room started to leak, so I was temporarily moved for a day or two until they got it fixed.  A co-worker and I stayed here again earlier this year.  Instead of my room leaking this time, it was his bathroom.  I don't get it.

Rooms are nice, but really small.  Fireplace and hot tub on the balcony are all pluses.  Good location - right on the beach and within easy walking distance to the pier and shops.

Not having a microwave is a negative for me (especially if I'm planning to stay for an extended period of time).

This place is soooo freakin' awesome on some level and so very eeehhhh.... on some level hence the three stars. Lets start with the positive. AWESOME LOCATION! AWESOME STAFF. They were very, very helpful to us when we got there. We actually got there at 11am and although we weren't able to check in right away, they said they would call when the room was ready and would allowed us an earlier check in. They stuck by their word and let us check in an hour early. We got the non-view but with a spa. It was the birthday surprise one I think. The hot tub was abso-freakin-lutely wonderful! It was very nice and fresh and cozy and warm the first time we got in. The bed was super comfy and the fact that they provided little chairs and towels were so super awesome. Loved that.

Now...for the not so great. The rooms are small. There was hardly any walk room between the mini fridge, the armoire, the desk, the dresser, and the king size bed. Plus, after a long 3.5 hour drive and a couple of hours in the sun and some extra sand we accidently brought in with us, we just wanted to lay on the bed and relax a little before going to dinner. Well, my hubby and I both got in bed and turned on tv and a porn movie was on. Some may get excited by this, but my first thought was, "They better not be charging me for this, I just turned on the tv and this was here". Somehow it was fixed and the staff was nice enough to come to our room several times to resolve the issue. Next was the continental breakfast in a basket delivered to your room. They have you fill out a card and on it, it asks what time you want it to be delivered. We chose 8am, but didn't get it until 10am. They did not call to tell us or even leave a note on our door. So, we called and were told it would be sent up, but it actually didn't get sent until about 10 am. Even though it was a  continental breakfast, it could've been better. I think they just got all their stuff pre-packaged from Costco and put it in a nice wire basket with linens. Also, lastly...the hot tub. The first try was very very relaxing...and that was it. The knobs and directions were very difficult to understand. We called to the front desk and they tried to help, but I think they were just reading the exact same sign that we were and it wasn't very hot anymore after that. We should've asked them to send someone to help, but I don't remember why we didn't.

Other than these minor negatives, everything else was very pleasant. I really do wanna go back and spend another weekend here.

While researching where to go for a short trip, I came across a deal on Travelzoo for SeaVenture. $99 per night for a Spa Deluxe room! My husband and I took the Amtrak up from Union Station with our bicycles, and arrived prior to their check-in time. The agent at the front desk apologized that no rooms were quite yet ready, as they had several check-outs since it was a Sunday, but took my phone number and promised to call as soon as our room was available. We had time for lunch and shortly after, she called that our room was ready. Check in was quick and easy. We made our way to our room, a corner room on the 3rd floor, furthest from the restaurant (didn't ask for it, but glad we got it, as I read that it could be quite noisy). The room was smaller than I had thought, but served its purpose well. The fireplace was a little tricky to figure out (but then I found directions). The hot tub was an awesome touch. Even on a coldish night, it was super relaxing. The "non-view" didn't even phase us. The room faced a side street, but the ocean was still perfectly visible from the balcony. The bed with the mountain of pillows gave me some of the best sleep ever! The morning breakfast basket delivery was so cute. The selection wasn't great, but it sufficed. The only thing about the place that didn't satisfy was the soft water. I am really not a fan of still feeling soapy! It's an older hotel, but is greatly maintained and the staff is super nice. Would definitely return, especially with a great deal like we had this trip!

The first impression I got when we arrived here was Sa-Weeeeet!
The lobby was very nice, the staff was very polite and friendly.
We had a room that was ocean side, had a hot tub on the balcony, and looked like a little cottage inside. That was all very good!
However the weather was terrible! The entire time we were there it was raining so heavily. That of course is no fault to the establishment.
But the leak the saturated half the bed is!
They didn't have any other available rooms for us to switch to. So we slept wherever it was not wet lol. In the morning when we were leaving though and we were talking to the manager about our experience, he gave us a steep discount and coupons if we decided to come back at the same discounted rate.
So I didn't ding them as many stars as others might. Their customer service is fantastic and they really do try to everything to make you happy. I am sure the leak was just another example of I have terrible luck at this stuff. Can't a girl get a break!?

I went here in July of 2009. We did in fact enjoy our stay here and it was a very special occasion. Beach front property in the literal sense, right as we walked outside, there was the beach right in front of us, and not to mention near the Pismo Pier.

We stayed July 14th-17th morning and checked out. The first night, even though it was very romantic, we had to move into another room due to the iron being rusted, and the bathtub was clogged.

The room was the same style and same amenities, and we had a wonderful time for the remainder of our stay here.

The food that we ordered at the bar was good.

The only complaint I had was there were no ventilation in the bathrooms-other then that, we had a wonderful stay.

The price was VERY high, but well worth the stay. The rooms were tiny, but cozy. A bit claustrophobic though if you were to see my home, so indeed we felt like we were in one small room on the third floor.

We could never get the fireplace to turn on, and just left it as is after a few tries.

Four stars due to the iron ruining my white dress shirt and the small room.

The doors were thin, so you could hear the loud tenants that just came in all throughout the night, so we kept the laptop music playing to eliminate our enjoyable stay to ease the passerby's.

    8/25/2010 1 Check-in Here

My wife and I stayed at the Sea Venture Resort this last weekend for 3 days. We found the staff to be very accommodating. It was clear that they wanted us to have a pleasant stay. Check in was quick and they explained the facilities and extras that were available to us. They have bikes and some beach gear for guest to use, a restaurant upstairs with entertainment on Friday's and Sunday's.

The rooms were clean and housekeeping did a great job every day. There is Hot Tub positioned on the balcony and the balcony had a partial ocean view. It was very relaxing and helped loosen the muscles after riding a dune buggy during the day. A continental breakfast was brought to the room every morning at the time we requested. It was nice sitting on the balcony with coffee, bagels, fresh fruit, yogurt and juices watching the surfers and beach walkers. The room was a little small and décor dated, however we were very happy during our time there. Most of our time was spent out of the room on the dunes, walking on the beach and in the town or wine tasting in Edna Valley. (About 7 miles east)

The restaurant was nice, ocean view seats, live music and good food. We only had a few appetizers (scallops and abalone) and were very pleased. Drinks were good, locals were nice to talk to and the pricing is comparable to what you see in a fine dining establishment.

Overall nice place to stay, eat and have fun. We will stay there again.

Very comfortable bed. Great night's rest.

BUT - the hotel is about 20 years outdated. It's like I'm stepping back into the year 1991. It feels like you're on the set of a nighttime soap opera that took place by the beach but was canceled on FOX after the first 6 episodes.

Could use major renovation. (I can just see one of those Zach Morris cell phones being offered complimentary by the front desk)

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. Great location and views. The absolutely BEST massage I have ever had!!! The staff was friendly and polite. The jacuzzi tubs on the balcony are amazing and relaxing. The fireplace is a nice touch too. The reason I am giving 2 stars is because of the noise and lack of space in our room. You can hear everything!!! They give a complimentary breakfast that you choose the night before. We marked the time to be dropped off at 10:15am- 10:45am. The sun started to come up and you could hear housekeeping knocking at the doors across and next to ours dropping off breakfast at what seemed to be every hour. I had the "do not disturb" marked on my door which I thought they would leave breakfast outside of the door but they knocked and waited for me to answer at 10am. You could even hear the elevator ring each time it was being used! To top this all off, it was Monday morning. I can be a little more understanding if it is a Saturday or Sunday but Monday! As for the lack of space, there was a small table but in order to watch TV you have to be on the bed which if you just feel like sitting on the couch to watch TV, is not going to happen. The bathroom was small as well and cannot fit more than one person in it.
