So...much...fun.
Gotta get a banquet license, bring booze, get that big room in the front by the window, and go crazy. So what if it smells like Led Zeppelin had an afterparty there about 30 years ago? Just wear lots of shiny pleather and PVC clothing and not only will you look hot and edgy when you go out for a smoke, but your ass won't pick up any germs.
For a little local flavour check out the badass mini mart at the corner for Pibb and Red Vines...crazy delicious.
I would go here every month or so if my friends liked to show off as much as I do.
SBK RULES!

Yeah, it's a little dirty... and yeah, the equipment breaks from time to time...
But there is nothing quite like a drunken rendition of the power-ballad that is Aerosmith's "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" in a private room with 8 good friends.
God damn, I love SBK.

i didn't review this place the last time i was in seattle, so i had to review it now with fond memories and a giddy "wooooohooo".
i'm giving this place five stars. but you should know this important nugget of joy: i was completely inebriated at this lovely establishment, so my judgement may not be worth your attention.
though not sober, this place contributed highly to one of the craziest and most entertaining nights of my life.
prior to our singing our lungs out good times, we had done the following: attended a house party in which we were the only females (thank you, seattle), drank at said house party, gone to the now defunct and sadly missed crocodile cafe and listened to some music, drank some more, stumbled over to the flying fish with some new friends from the crocodile, and wound up at karaoke with one of the bands from the crocodile.
see what i'm saying? crazy insane but so much fun.
karaoke in private rooms, more drinking, and singing total eclipse of the heart with bands. i mean, in the history of my life, i'm pretty sure it doesn't get any better.
and we closed the place- they're open forever - until like five am or something. insanity.
good, old fashioned insanity.

To really enjoy SBK, you need to plan ahead. Hit up your neighborhood liquor store in the afternoon and get your 10 dollar banquet license. Make a reservation and request room #1 (it's the biggest). Then show up with a bunch of friends and booze and sing your heart out.
I've also rented their machines for private parties three times, all of which have been great experiences. They are very professional and were on time for delivery and pick up. And the machines were easy to use and worked fabulously.
The one disappointment of going to SBK is really the technology. They need to get wireless mics and a digital karaoke system to avoid all the skipped songs and technical issues. The karaoke system they rent out for parties is actually much better than what they have in house.

So far, this is the best music studio Karaoke hall I have found in Seattle. There is Legend in the ID- but the music selection there pales in comparison to SBK. The midweek prices at SBK are so reasonable! All you need is a banquet license and this is the spot for any private party =) I love this place.

Seattle's Best Karaoke lives up to its name. Take note, this is Karaoke Box (Korean Karaoke). Rent a room with friends, then go wild.
While the quality of the rooms doesn't even compare to places in Koreatown of Los Angeles or any noraebang in South Korea, it's still a great place to with friends.
And besides, who needs plush couches and LCD screens if you're with your best buds?

Karaoke + Sobriety? I was skeptical, but tucked away in a private room (guess you rent by the hour) with friends and a gigantic songbook, it can actually be fun. Z reason I gotta knock off a star is Laural calls it righton the heat issues and the reliability of the machines. Our seemed to magically skip certain songs, then play others twice.

i heart Seattle's Best Karaoke.
my husband and i go to this little hidden gem at least twice a month - just the two of us - to sing our hearts out in the privacy of our own room (don't let yourself think about the guy outside who can DEFINITELY hear every out-of-tune note you sing).
on weekdays it will run you about $15/hr, on weekends I think it's like $30+/hr (for the room, not per person). you get two huge catalogs of songs arranged by title or by artist, and get computer-graded on your performance when you are through.
the room has a huge sound system on one wall with a tv (or two) for your singing pleasure complete with corny russian-made music videos, and 2-3 couches to lounge on.
from the songs my husband seems to find, you'd think they have everything your heart desired - but i have a wish list for more etta james and billie holiday, although the complete works of celine dion have been keeping my pipes worn and torn.
the only thing about this place that sucks is you can't drink [alcohol]. but that's why they are right next to the re-bar. go grab a few before you head over ;)
oh and one more kinda sucky thing is that sometimes they have technical difficulties and either someone's song will keep repeating itself or your song will get skipped and you don't get to sing it, and you don't even remember what it was because you added it to the list like 10 songs ago... all this can be remedied if you go to the counter and tell them your woes - they'll knock a couple bucks off your final bill and THEN tell you how to skip through a song if it repeats.

I've been looking for good karaoke places for a while now and Seattle's best karaoke is the best one I've been to. It's probably important to mention that it's the only place I've been to. It's great for a small group of friends and the prices are pretty reasonable. The song selection could be better, but it beats a magic mic. We did have some problems with songs getting skipped here and there, but other than that it's a good time. If you're into karaoke it's worth it to give SBK a try.

Not bad for what it is, but with so many people actually owning karaoke machines now I doubt I'll return. The room was too small and hot for a lot of people, so with only a few people why bother with the trouble of renting it, and obtaining a liquor license? Also the process of programming the machine was painful, thanks to the ancient remote control system.
Two stars because I had a pretty good time despite all the problems.
