Let me take you on a journey called "How to waste $130":

I opened up a bank account locally because this seemed practical after a move. Looking back, it was so unnecessary. I have two credit union bank accounts that work for me in California. With mobile deposit, why add a third? What could happen?

They flagged my third paycheck because it was suspicious a similar amount from the same institution (listed as my employer on my bank application) was deposited around the same time last month. Quite suspicious indeed, unless you know what a paycheck is.

So the check I deposited on Oct 2nd was held until I called from work the evening of Oct 4th. Rent was late and they were fining me for every bill I scheduled for the week. $29 for my car payment, electric bill, etc. They said they would release the funds the next day but not reverse the fees.

They checked with the Kirkland manager, he said I was informed of their general negligence and over-fining upon signing my contract.

I am a single mom who drove out to the branch on my lunch hour. The branch manager denied my reversal of fines via chat. He never spoke to me. Never looked me in the eyes. He rather ordered a clerk to deny me.

So I closed my account. They gave me a check for the remaining balance without checking my id or any account details
which really felt secure. I just handed them my debit card and they closed the account, cut me a check and let me walk out with zero verification.

Congratulations, you are the worst credit union I have ever encountered.

2. I got my home loan via SCU, Chelsie Newbold and her team are just fantastic to work with, responsive, friendly and will work with you to ensure you meet the closing date on time. Every lender in town was surprised that SCU has such competitive rates, they were hands down the lowest in the market and extremely transparent. You can see the rates online and apply easily!

I stopped into the Kirkland branch to make some changes to our accounts due to an estate plan that we have. The estate plan required FDPOA and other documents to filed to meet the requirement of the estate plan. The process did take some time work through as there were several steps that needed to be completed. Othellon worked diligently and professionally to make sure that all of the documents and requirements were accurately followed. He was very personable and had an interest in making sure that we were satisfied that our goals and expectations were met. I am a Sea CU member for the last 28 years, and the staff such as Othellon is the reason why I choose to do business with Sea CU.

Othellon was awesome, speedy profession service. Would recommend creating an account at Seattle credit union.

Kenny at SCU (née SMCU) in Kirkland was great. Needed an auto loan check for a new ride in Bellevue and this was the nearest branch.

Kenny worked with a remote loan specialist, Kevin who's also a rockstar, to verify the funding was correct and all the i's dotted and t's crossed. Took about 30 minutes with a stop at a coffee shop down the street.

Very happy with my experience working with the loan specialists and branch reps at SCU.

I moved to California nearly a decade ago, but refuse to drop Seattle Credit Union as my financial institution. Everywhere else, if I even got a personal call from my banker, it would be a stranger who only knew me by my account balance. With Seattle Credit Union (formerly SMCU), for 15 years, I got "Hey, Erin, it's Kanani!" My banker recently took a new job elsewhere, but my loyalty is locked. She was exceptional, no doubt, but also reflective of the culture and values of a place that even from 700 miles away, I am so happy to keep my business.

I have been a customer of Seattle Credit Union for several years and I have been pleased over and over again and with incredibly attentive service, excellent banking policies, and most importantly the refreshing feeling of being treated like a human being. Everything about my experiences with Seattle Credit Union so far have the undertone of cooperation. They want to provide services that benefit both of us, not just them. Never once have I seen the crocodile smile that is so common from your average corporate bank employee. In particular Shayla B at the downtown branch has been great to work with on several occasions.

The Kirkland branch of Seattle Credit Union is nothing short of the best in the industry. The blending of outstanding banking options and stellar customer service professionals is the winning combination that has kept me a member for almost 20 years. In particular Brandon Carlson is one of the examples of what makes this branch one of the best. His professionalism, respect, knowledge and willingness to figure out what your needs and wants are separate him from the rest. If you need banking on any level he is the one to see, and Seattle Credit Union is the place to go.

After finally getting sick and tired of getting the run around from Wells on a new home loan I stumbled upon Seattle Credit Union and was put in touch with Keith Hile! What an incredible experience! Him and the whole team at Seattle Credit Union did exactly what they said they would do. I have a complicated financial portfolio and have had so many bad experiences working with lenders in the past that I was very skeptical but these guys came through. I got a great rate and they went through their underwriting process in a nice timely fashion just as they said they would. Coming from someone with a lot of experience as a borrower, trust me, you will save massive time and headaches if you go to these guys first!!

I heart this bank and the staff at this location. I have received wonderful service for 9 years now. wow! I've been approved for two car loans, have personal banking and now small business banking accounts here. I am always satisfied with their customer service no matter what I need. Stop going to commercial banks. Be known by your bank & get better service with no extra fees.
