One of the best features of the Pacific Science Center, if you come for the laser matinees, it is only $3 if you have a ticket to the PSC itself.  Otherwise, the evening shows are a very reasonable $9 - same price or cheaper than the movies!  I've seen the Laser Beatles twice now and enjoyed it very much.  First time we sat in the chairs and second time we laid down on the floor.  Floor is better, although I wish I had brought a blanket or cushion for my back.  You also have to watch out if it gets crowded, as someone kept bumping into me and nearly kicked me in the head once.

They offer quite a range of shows from Michael Jackson to Gaga to No Doubt or Bob Marley, so you should be able to find one that suits your taste.  And where else are you going to get to see an awesome laser show with a great, clear sound system.

This was a pretty neat activity to do at the Pacific Science Center. I had no idea it existed until the bf and I took his niece/nephew on a downtown Seattle excursion. We watched the Lady Gaga one and it was really cool! I recognized all the songs so I'm glad they included non-radio songs too. The songs that stood out for me were... Boys Boys Boys and Bad Romance!

I had no idea what to expect and was a little confused when I saw people with pillows and blankets but apparently, they were the smart ones! It gets kind of tiring having to look up during the whole show so lying down on the floor is probably more comfortable.

I'd be interested in seeing the Daft Punk show because it was a nice and different thing to do!

The Laser Dome is pretty cool.  I've seen three shows here: Queen, Daft Punk, and Gaga.  I liked the combination of the music and lasers in the Gaga one, but I think that the Daft Punk one was my favorite.

Good sound system, that's for sure - I could feel the bass in my chest during Gaga.  Some of the lasers sort of remind me of visualizations on Windows Media Player, but some of them are pretty cool.  I prefer the "scenes" that have laser pictures rather than just moving lines or circles.

The ground isn't too comfortable to lay on, but it's just carpeting, so don't expect more than that.  Bring blankets, pillows, etc and you will not even notice it.

Good place to bring the kids - they will enjoy it!  It's also a good date spot: my boyfriend and I saw Daft Punk together not long after we started dating and it was really fun.  Bring pillows and cuddle up!

I love the Laser Dome! I was able to see Laser Gaga and Laser Beatles! They were both amazing shows!

I really like how they let people lay on the ground to watch the show because that is more fun! Just bring a blanket or jackets/hoodies to lay on.

The DJ is pretty funny too and he plays good songs.

I would love to see Laser Nirvana if they do it again and I hope they can make a Laser MGMT show. That would be amazing!

One day, Will asked me if I wanted to go with him to see a Pink Floyd laser show.
Now, I haven't been to the laser dome since I was what? In the 3rd grade? Something like that. Back during the time when I couldn't remember anything and when teen pregnancies weren't at an all time high.
I said yes. Mainly because I wanted to be in the laser dome again and enjoy the music and also because I love experiencing new music in Seattle Center, where I had discovered my love for Motion City Soundtrack during Bumbershoot 2010.

They started letting us in at 9:15, which was when the show was suppose to start. Odd, it kinda cut into the time. I expected it to be an hour, but it seemed like it was only half an hour long or so.

I am so glad that Will brought the pillow and blanket. I don't remember people laying down on the floor to watch it, but then again that was when I was small and the only thing that I would sit on was a chair.

They don't allow you to text, so I was caught with my phone and was asked to put it away. Hey! I'm a teenager so, you can't really expect for me to not have my phone out and not be kissing someone during random times of the show when I'm cuddling with them. Hey! At least I'm mature enough to not the whole entire time.

Loved the show. They played my favourite Pink Floyd song, "Wish you were here" during the end....

The line for the bathroom wasn't that long after the show. Actually, there was no line at all. It was fun reading all the random facts about our bodies.

Will and I walked through the drained fountain area. 'Don't try this at home kids'. There was an exit thing that was extra wide...for the more round people, I'm guessing. Just kidding, but no, really.
Saw a long line for the next show.

Maybe we'll be back to see Tool or Led Zeppelin.

THEY NEED TO MAKE ONE FOR MGMT!

My husband and I came here for the Laser Queen show on a Wednesday night.  We liked it a lot!  The tricky thing about the evening shows, is that the Pacific Science Center is already closed, so you have to go around to the ticket booth in the back and wait in line outside until an usher can come and get you and seat everybody.  It was a little bit confusing, but oh well.  The show itself was great, the laser technician (I don't know what you would call them...) was talented and put on a good show.  It wasn't too crowded either which was nice, but then again it was a Wednesday, so weekends might be busier.  The tickets are pretty cheap too (I think it was $8 each), which is nice!

I was taken to laser Radiohead on Friday night and it there was a surprisingly large crowd waiting to buy tickets and waiting to get inside.

    Tips:

Buy tickets first, then wait in line to actually get inside. I saw a huge line and would have just waited in it except going to the ticket box before getting in line was a mistake a lot of people made.

Go pee first. The show is, for the most part, totally dark and getting up to pee is something I do a lot. And after the show got out there was a BIG bathroom line, for the women's room only, as usual.

My friend brought us pillows, which made the whole lying on the floor thing feel pretty decent.

This may be kind of obvious, but sit as close to the center as possible. For some reason I thought it would be fine to lay down off to the side, but it really wasn't fine. Sitting close to the center would have been better.

It's eight bucks for a ticket, which is a price on par with movie tickets. That kind of sucks, but this was better than some movies I've seen in the theater.

Anyway, it was fun to listen to really loud music and watch moving lights after all. I'd do it again.

This place only gets three stars for the shear comedy of the whole thing. Otherwise it would only get 1.5. As we waited in the giant line (which I noticed has already been mentioned) I couldn't help but wonder why so many people had pillows and blankets. Even more peculiar was why the people with blankets and pillows all seemed to be 18 under. Once inside, I finally understood. These are the kids who tell their parents they're headed to the science center for some after hours "learning" aka grope and makeout session. I was completely in awe.

The laser show was sweet. No complaints there. The candy was too expensive. And at $8 bucks, the laser show was a bit expensive also.  I would love to do this in San Francisco and find out if the kids back here do the same shit or what?

Came here for Dark Side of the Moon, and gotta say it was pretty flipping cool.  And that totally sober - just imagine the "enhanced version"...

The only downside is when the lights come on, you realize you're the people over 18 who aren't dressed up like characters from "The Matrix".  Although, that's probably a good thing.

This is awesome if you live here and terrible if you don't. By that I mean I used to live here and went to this quite often. Loved it. Then I moved away and I can't find anything like it around here and it really sucks.

I don't remember which shows I've seen but I saw several and each was amazing. There were some audio issues during one of my visits and I emailed the crew afterward. I asked if they had a wire crossed or a blown speaker and come to find out, they had both. I received four free tickets in the mail which was super cool. I hadn't complained to get anything free... was just curious if they were having problems or if it was my ears. My next visit found them to have fixed the problems and it sounded wonderful again.

If you are in the area and like music you gotta check this out. Doesn't really matter if you like the band that the show is about... the visuals alone are awesome, but it helps if you like Pink Floyd because that's what the majority of the shows are. Unfortunately I never got to catch the Depeche Mode one. Seemed like they only showed it for one week.

"Hey Geoff and Beth, let's go check out this Laser Subtle thing tonight.  Yeah, they're actually doing a set for the upcoming release by this experimental hip-hop group that has an electric cello player as a full time member, and some of the strangest lyrics ever.  But you already know who Subtle is, let's get going.  Actually, how about we buy tickets through their handy online ticketing thingy just in case that speeds up the process or there are way more fans of Subtle than we thought.

"$5 per?  not bad!  oh, $3 service charge per.... 60%?  Ouch, but convenience is convenience.

"Yo friends, I am in an especially responsible mood and despite going to the Seattle Center many many times over the past 15 years, I've never actually spent any time in the Pacific Science Center.  I'll click around and try to get more exact directions.  Oh, just a street address, should work - although the Seattle Center can be weird with stuff like that (try finding an online map of it.)

    Drive drive drive.

"What's the deal with bad drivers? (etc.)

*Geoff claims the Funhouse has the dirtiest bathrooms he's ever seen.*

    Park park park.

"This is going to be so great, last time I went to a laser show was 15 years ago when I was a junior in high school!

"This building?  No, but the door says it's in building three, no other directions... how about north?  Crap, the thing said we won't get in if we're late, and to get there a half hour early to pick up will call tickets, we're cutting it reallly close.

"must be that line, oh cool, a will call ATMy thing, gimme my tickets!

"line's not moving, we're still outside and this thing was supposed to start 5 minutes ago...  Wait here team, I'll go see what I can find out!

the ticketing window is at the exit, behind a line of that barricade tape like the have at the bank.  people are crashing the wrong way into the exit turnstyles trying to get to the ticket dude, while he blankly stares until they finally figure out they have to duck under the barricade tape to get to the ticket window.  I overhear "is this where we get tickets for Laser Subtle?"

    -"yes"

"ok, cuz the little daysheet sign says Laser Floyd"

    -"yeah, the sign is wrong"

    "has it already started?"

    -"no, not til like 9:45"

"oh, the sign says it starts at 9:15"

-"yeah, that's actually when we start letting you in from outside"

"have you told the people in line that it isn't Laser Floyd?"

    -"no"

helpful anonymous guy yells (standing 3 feet from Ticket Wizard) "there's no Laser Floyd show"

Cue several very bummed/stoned Guitar Center and/or D&D gamers leaving the line.  People who had already purchased tickets, most likely from Ticket Wizard guy.

Awesome music, cheezy laser stuff, but it's not like anyone was expecting a spiritual experience (no weed smokers in our crew.)

*seriously?  text messaging in a completely dark planetarium thing?  kids these days.  to the one that got hit in the back of the head with a quarter - that was me*

Sound junkies, this is your place.
When a real concert is beyond your reach or budget, come listen to your Daft Punk favorites (or Pink Floyd) done far more justice than your headphones or car stereo could ever provide. The bass in the second half of the show vibrated my insides. This otherwise would just be a cheesy light show, but the sound-centric experience really kicks it up a notch.

Given that there aren't a ton of cool things for the under-21 crowd to do on a weekend night, those of legal drinking age can expect to likely be the old geezers in the room, not that it matters. Bring a pillow to sprawl out on the floor for an immersing full-view experience, or just kick back and relax in the theater seating.
Though this sort of event harkens back to the height of hallucinogenics and thus I am sure that more than a few attendees partake in something similar, I would warn the fact that the show is only approximately 1 hour may be sort of a buzz kill for your trip.

Protip: Don't worry about showing up very early; they don't open the gate until showtime and there seems to be plenty of space.

$8.50 on weekends, cheaper other days, with shows about every hour and a half.
Apparently they have a Michael Jackson show opening soon...

The Seattle Laser Dome is the coolest!

This is the only place that I know of where you get to listen to awesome music while watching a trippy laser light show!  I always make sure I'm at least a little buzzed before going.  It brings the enjoyment factor way up!

They have rotating schedules and a few acts that remain constant.  They always have Laser Floyd, Laser The Wall, Laser Beatles and Laser Zeppelin.  Specialty shows I have seen are Sublime, Muse, Tool, Radiohead and Queen.

The best place to be for this show is on the floor so you can lay down and watch the ceiling without straining your neck.  Always remember to buy your tickets and then get in line.  Many people don't do this and end up getting in last.

They also offer concessions for two bucks (candy and soda).

I've been lucky enough to see several shows here over the last few years, and they never disappoint. Sound quality is amazing, you can actually FEEL the music, and the lasers just add to what can only be described as a fantastic experience.

I don't really understand why other Yelpers are complaining about the price. Have they not figured out that everything at Pacific Science Center is overpriced? Plan accordingly people!

I went and saw the Daft Punk show. It was a good time, but I echo comments to bring something soft to lie on - the carpeted floor gets uncomfortable after a while.

I'm not sure what other places do laser shows, but this was a lot of fun. It's not the greatest thing ever, but for the price it's definitely enjoyable!

i think this is pretty flippin amazing. who knew i would love lasers so much?
    1. you can get your tickets online. you also get it at the science center earlier on self-checkout computer machines. my suggestion for the +21, get your tickets there early and then go to one of the walkable bars, then come back for the show.

    2. i was warned of the 18 under crowd. but i think this is one of the few places in the city they can go. but i do think it depends on the show. i did see daft punk when Pink Floyd had more of an older/couple crowd.

    3. i was warned people brought pillows and blankets.

but i didn't know that everyone brought pillows and blankets. that floor made my old 20-something back ache later on. one kid was freakin blowin up a mini mattress or something for his girlfriend and himself. he also had to get all up on our personal space as everyone is scramblin to get a spot on the floor. it felt like nap time in kindergarden.

    4. i had the silly idea if i was going to listen to the magic of Daft Punk and see LASERS, there would be DANCIN'. i wanted to get my dancin' on. but there was no dancin', it was just a bunch of people on the floor and in the chairs, sitting and laying quietly to some of the greatest electro dance music. how seattle!

What can you do for $8 anymore? How about lie on a rock hard floor for an hour and stare at the ceiling? No? Would it change your mind if there were LASERS involved? Well, you're in luck! Laser Dark Side of the Moon was totally trippy and good, cheap fun. I think we were the only people in line not chemically impaired in some way (and also over the age of 19) but it was my husband's first show and it managed to blow his sober mind. We went on a Saturday at 9:30 and didn't have a problem with lines or long waits - it all went really smoothly. We even got a free song tacked on the end after a few people shouted "Encore!" - I think it was from Animals, maybe? Made me happy we saw Dark Side - I'm pretty sure these can be hit or miss but Dark Side was great. Big recommend!

It is kinda pricey thought, and when we got there we had to sit in the chairs cause all the floor was taken up by all the numerous teenagers and their blankets and pillows.

    Tl;dr version at bottom.

The bad points first; not bad to me, but may annoy some:
1- Price. $5 per person on Thurs, but around $9 per person Wed, Fri. Sat. and Sun. (though per person, $9 is only for your first show, it's $5 for additional shows)
2- Time. The showtime posted is when the line enters the Pac. Science Center gates, not the time the show itself begins.
3- If you're very allergic to fog (propylene glycol fog) don't go; there's a fog machine, and it gets used as part of every show, though most of the fog ends up up in the dome. There ARE strobes in the show, but not rapid-blink - they'll use a single flash in certain spots.

That all said: This is a wonderful show. The screen is a huge dome, and viewers can sit in fairly comfortable theater seats at the back, or lie flat on the floor at the front and look up. Bring your own blankets and pillows, and be aware that the front is usually a sea of teens making out, or texting (until the usher spots them and tells 'em to knock it off). Pick your favorite music and go; if none of the choices are big faves for you, pick something you at least like and, chances are, the show will make the music fun. There's a huge bank of speakers at the front, and the sound is LOUD, it'll make your whole body vibrate - if you need earplugs, they'll happily give you some if you ask at the concession stand. And there IS a concession stand, in the lobby, with the usual bottled drinks, candy and cookies. It isn't terribly expensive, either.

This is a LIVE SHOW. Walk up to the booth in the back, and you'll see a big control switchboard. If it's Fri. or Sat., the guy in the booth is John AKA Ivan; Wed. or Thurs. it's an associate of his. Only the basic effects are pre-programmed onto a tape; the 'laser artist controls colors, position, image splitting, movement and special effects like the front and side lasers, stars and 'fuzz filters'. It takes a bit of experience to do this. Not only do you have to know the music, but you'll notice there's no mix-console light - Ivan's rule for all performers is hands on the controls, eyes on the dome. They have to memorize the control panel! Every show is a little bit different, too. The laser effects are seriously cool, and you really, really don't need to smoke a bowl to get into this stuff. If you really must, though, please don't try to sneak one in the theater - they WILL toss you out. Seen it happen many times.

All showtapes have encores built-in. They won't play them, though, unless you shout "More!", clap, hoot, holler and be a live audience. Earlier shows usually run one encore; midnight shows may run two and I've seen three for very enthusiastic audiences. If you liked the show or have questions about it, go talk to whoever's in the booth after the show. They like to hear from us viewers.

Great for bringing visitors from out of town, especially if they're huge fans of, say, Daft Punk, Michael Jackson, Floyd or Led Zeppelin. Daft Punk show has been modified to include a tiny bit of TRON: Legacy stuff. List of what's playing on which nights is on the web site.

Also: I went in a few weeks ago, and Ivan told me someone realized one of their speaker cables was installed wrong for many years - their subs were running at half power. There's a big difference now; I could feel my CLOTHING moving from the power, and the bass made the seat vibrate under me! It used to be powerful, but it's even better now!

Basics: Awesome LIVE show. VERY loud (free earplugs available) and uses fog and single strobe flashes at times. Junk food available, not too expensive. Don't need to get high to enjoy this. Make some noise at the end if you want encores, and clap a lot, 'cuz the guy or girl in the booth is actually doing stuff to make it better.

You haven't spaced out until you've seen Laser Floyd: The Wall. Pink Floyd and lasers. What else can you say? Lie down on the floor for the full effect, but not if you're feeling nauseous. If for some strange reason you're not into Pink Floyd, there are other shows, like the Beatles and Led Zeppelin but you'll have to experience them for yourself because after "seeing" The Wall, nothing else matters to me.

I was visiting Seattle for a week and a half and my cousin insisted on taking me to the Daft Punk laser show. A few nights later we decided to see the dark side of the moon and Daft Punk again. I felt like a little kid, the whole time I was thinking, how did they do this? It was entertaining and totally worth the $8. Wish we had a dome in California.
