Hello Ella, Yes, kids are welcomed to join us. The main difference between this and our normal brunches is the music. Some people even dress us as they dine with us!… more

I have visited both the Searsucker in Gaslamp and Del Mar. I had a better experience at the Del Mar location but I'm willing to give the Gaslamp location another try!
I love the variety of different dishes Searsucker offers. Their take on their dishes are extremely unique and flavorful. At their Del Mar location, I ordered the salmon with a side of mac and cheese. My parents ordered the tomahawk. I personally loved the salmon, the garnish and the salmon were perfectly cooked. The mac and cheese was also super flavorful and I really enjoyed my meal. However, my parents didn't like their tomahawk as much as the last time they ordered it. Besides the consistency of the tomahawk, we enjoyed our time.
It was early in the afternoon and the place was relatively empty. Our server was kind and attentive. The service differs at each location as our server wasn't as attentive at the Gaslamp location. I will make sure to try it again with my boyfriend when he's back in town. I'm a big fan of Searsucker, I like their take on dishes and how the flavors just work so well together. The pricing is definitely on the more expensive side, so definitely keep that in mind. Can't wait to visit again!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 9, 2020
2.5 I'd say. Stopped by in February. Cold night really. It was good to get inside. We were able to get a seat at the bar and warm up to a few drinks and a snack going from place to place. Service was spotty, food took a long while to come out. The bartender was nice though and checked in when she could.
We had ordered the hummus, roasted brussel sprouts, and calamari. The hummus had no flavor and the veggies were a joke. The brussel sprouts were completely oil laden, and just tasted like char. The calamari was kinda old like it had sat which does terrible things to fried stuff. I mean, we probably could've gotten an entree or something but we weren't about to stay longer if appetizers aren't even reliable.
We finished our drinks promptly after nibbling a bit of it, paid, and left to find something actually palatable.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 26, 2020
Covid approved!! I visited back in 2017 for dinner & loved it. Fast forward to COVID ERA 2020 - still love it!!
Shoutout to the female hostess/waitress, curly brown hair, styled up. She was so friendly AND such a boss!! She ensured everyone had masks on & we were all socially distanced. What I appreciated the most was that she wouldn't let any random transients or people walking by bother the customers having dinner. She wouldn't allow anyone to hang around bothering us or smoke cigarettes right out from... so thank you!!!
Food was great! They have a really slimmed down menu, but hey, that's expected during this times. My husband and I went with the burgers. No complaints! They were cooked just right and made to out specifications :) Add a sunny egg & jalapeños.
Lots of Outdoor seating & there was no wait for Friday night dinner. Def recommend!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

One of the stops of our Gaslamp bar hopping, it was close to closing time so we just had a quick drink at the bar. Searsucker is really a popular restaurant in downtown San Diego but we never came in for a meal for some reason.
Place is just one huge room with a huge bar and dining areas. I ordered a specialty Mezcal cocktail called "South of the border" which was strong and smoky but still refreshing. Hubby just had sparkling water cause he wasn't feeling well so had to take it easy. I liked it the bar was really quiet and two female bartenders were friendly and pleasant. It didn't take me long to finish my drink cause it was a very yummy drink. And we didn't want to bother them more cause they were doing last calls and have started to clean the bar area.
We will be back for a meal for sure next time we are in Gaslamp!Helpful 16Thanks 0Love this 16Oh no 0 - 4009765524Oct 19, 2019
Best hip hop 90s brunch!! Highly recommend. Music great. Vibe excellent. Food delicious.
Customer service is great. Drinks... creative and strong.
Prices are realistic.
Creative, unique fun menu
I highly recommend this place. You won't be disappointed. Great casual, nice enjoyable place for Saturday brunch. The cinnamon roll, Krispy French toast, shrimp & grits were are exceptional. Must try menu items. Portion sizes average.
Make sure to do the yelp check in for your duck fat fries.Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0Business owner information

I stumbled upon Searsucker walking through San Diego for a conference. I was able to grab a table outside and enjoy the view and people watching.
For the price, Searsucker was great. Presentation was beautiful. I was a bit thrown off by the caviar, but I would have never known. Service was as good as could be expected given a busy day/time. I'd definitely come back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 20, 2019
Such a fun place for dinner in Gaslamp! We dropped by to have a big dinner on Sunday night before hitting up the bars down the street. Our group of 3 shared 2 appetizers and 2 sides along with having our own entree.
- Spicy Tuna Poke with taro chips: so fresh and would recommend
- Famous Duckfat Fries: definitely order, it's amazing
Their steaks are delicious- well presented, flavorful and great portion. I ordered the new york strip steak served with roasted yams, shishito pepper chimichurri. My friends ordered the beef filet which is a filet mignon with creamed leeks, oyster mushrooms, cabernet jus.
We shared the butter mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts.
Dinner was so amazing! Would definitely recommend. It was pretty pricey but well worth it. Service was great as well. Be sure to check into Yelp for your free famous duck fat fries!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 5596120Nov 9, 2019
Dined and had drinks here a multitude of times. Love this atmosphere and drinks are always strong and good.
However tonight was a total buzz kill. Took family here for a cousin-in-law's 40th Bday and food took about 30-45 min to come out. Yes I totally understand that 830-930pm in downtown SD is like prime time for dinner hours however, Searsucker has been here for a while and should be seasoned to know this....
Wasn't too hungry and ordered the grilled cheese and tomato bisque soup. Soup was more tomato and missing the bisque. And i think i received the worlds smallest grilled cheese. Which was actually really cute (and luckily i wasn't that hungry).
Although that was a let down, my family members loved their meals and loved the atmosphere.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello Chrisette, we appreciate you taking the time to leave a review and we apologize that the food took a little longer than our usual standard this past Saturday. Our grilled cheese is meant more as a small starter but can be a perfect entree if you are not too hungry. We look forward to having you back in here with us soon.

To start... yelp checkin? Yes please. Free duck fat fries and they are plenty to share and delicious. They are known for their old fashioned drinks so of course I got one. I upgraded my bourbon though.
I couldn't decide between so many items, like meatball and biscuits or a regular entree.
I tried their fish of the day which was good. At first they had a mixup with my order- was hoping for a sea-bass, but received their fish of the day. I knew it was a drier fish, whereas I typically enjoy the buttery types. So, with that said, enjoyable enough.
Because of the mixup, the manager comped a dessert for me. I usually say no dessert for me, until I read, "donuts". I caved in,
and boy were they worth it. They give you five/six donut holes (my fav ways of eating donuts) with vanilla and chocolate dip. I ate one and took the rest home.
They have a cute indoor private dining space and the elevator is the best part. If you plan events, take a site and you'll love it.
Seating available inside and outdoors. I sat outside and people watched.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Made a reservation for 3 people for 715pm. They were not crowded at that time. I guess San Diegans do not dine early. By the time we left it was packed and buzzing with groups. Ryan was our server and he was excellent. He saw we were not in a hurry and he left us alone to talk. He came back to check on us for drinks and he made very good suggestions. We all ordered the smoked old fashion which was quite smooth and flavorful. Hints of citrus was involved as well.
As for appetizers, we ordered wings, which were very nice, the artichoke hearts dish which was another winner and the pork bellies, which were ok. It was unusual to be ok with pork. Maybe my taste buds were off. For entrees, we got the Opa fish, which is indigenous of Hawaii and Fiji. The opa has a distinct flavor with the consistency of a swordfish. As sides, we ordered the Brussels sprouts and creamy mash potatoes. The mash was super creamy, and I had to dip in a few times. He suggested to surprise us for dessert. When it came it was their homemade donut sprinkled in cinnamon sugar with a chocolate cream dip and I think it was a vanilla dip. Omg they were so fresh. Anytime I come to San Diego, I always make it a point to dine at Searsucker. Yes, it is worth it and given how packed the place was last night, I am. Not the only one who believes in this place.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Great review and we appreciate the feedback! Ryan has been with us for some itme and really knows how to make our guest feel welcomed. Our doughnuts are a huge hit and the perfect way to cap off dinner. We do a fantastic espresso martini that pairs well with our doughnuts too. See you again soon.
