location: perfect
hill? a non-issue
breakfast: fair enough
staff: friendly and helpful
room: small with bare minimum, but clean - had a view from it across the town and to the south.
price: reasonable, especially since it included the boat trip
Would totally stay here again - loved that is was not in the center of town and that it was up on a small hill - made for much quieter experience and great views.

I'm not sure what the hotels are like on Catalina, but this place was a little old and dirty. I couldn't decide whether or not to give it a three star or four, but I settled for four because they offered great customer service.

Our initial hotel room (the basic, bare one) was pretty small and old, but I was unsurprised because my friends kept telling me all the rooms are small on Catalina Island. There were water stains in the ceiling and I didn't want to walk barefoot on the floor. We had an overhead fan above the bed, but the cord was broken so we couldn't turn it off and it was a distraction all night long. In the morning, we told the front desk about it and they upgraded out room to a much bigger and cleaner room)! They didn't argue or made excuses. Just apologized and gave us a new room as soon as room service cleaned it.

The hotel is on a hill, but it's still close to the stores and shore. As a 26 year old, I didn't think the walk was too bad or steep, but some people may have trouble with it.

Although their rooms could use some updates, the staff 's friendliness and helpfulness really made up for it. My boyfriend and I checked out in the morning and they held our baggage in the backroom for us all day until we were ready to leave the island. I ended up playing on the beach and had to run back to the hotel to use their outdoor shower to wash off sand. One of their employees saw me and offered me a fresh, WARM towel! I was very impressed with their helpfulness.

Seaport Inn offers one of the cheapest rates on the island, so I would recommend this hotel to friends. You definitely get your money's worth.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our anniversary getaway back in August.  It was the cheapest place that was available.  Our $400+ got us four nights, a shuttle to pick us up at the boat and to drop us off when we returned home, and complimentary champagne.

It was a very cute place.  Our room was small, but we didn't care because both of us have never been to Catalina and spent most of our time biking and eating at the local restaurants.  The hotel was at the center of everything.  We didn't need to rent one of those gulf cart thingies; however, you do have to walk up a big hill so for those of you who don't do hills a golf cart thingy might be good.  Overall, we were really glad this hotel had availability and will most likely use it again when we return.

Originally K wanted to book one of the nicer hotels but everything was taken up, so we stayed here instead.

This place was really cute and homey.  We got a 'suite' with a kitchen.  The balcony had a terrific view (see photo) and we had some good conversation just sitting out there in the perfect summer night weather.

The bathroom was decent sized and clean but there was rust in the water, which I am guessing was a one time thing because everywhere on the island seemed to have that problem.

Their breakfast was 'ok', for a free breakfast...there were tons of people taking advantage of it, so I would wake up early.  Also, know that at 9am they replenish the food. (breakfast is from 8-10am)

The staff was helpful...and their golf cart transportation was pretty 'on par' with timing, no pun intended.

I would definitely stay here again.

If you find yourself in Avalon looking for a reasonably priced, clean, and quiet place to stay I suggest you head to the Seaport Village Inn.
It isn't the fanciest hotel on the island, but it's very peaceful and the staff is very friendly.
They have a nice little complimentary breakfast if you're an earlier bird, the hot tub looked good although i didn't use it. Oh and it's a non-smoking property so if you're a smoker bring your patch!
It's located on the "outskirts" of Avalon away from all the hustle and bustle... it's only a 2 block walk to downtown. They offer a free shuttle service to take you to and from the harbor when you arrive/depart the island.
Cute place. I plan to stay there again next time I visit the island.

I stayed here with my Mom and sister. my sister was moving to the island and Raul the manager did everything he could to help her out. the staff was all unbelievably nice. it this day in age was customer service falls by the waist side, it was a breathe of fresh air. wonderful views and a free breakfast.

my husband and i stayed here last weekend for our anniversary; we did not get the "suite" or anything. just the regular room... let's say i was NOT use to the smaller sized room. but it was clean and besides 95% of the time, we were out. we only booked the room to have somewhere to shower and sleep :] the staff was very friendly and there's a shuttle that picks you up from the harbor to the hotel and vice versa. the only problem that i had was the toilet... i'm the person who notices everything and well, the side of the toilet was nasty.. that's negative one star. maybe we should get a suite next time ;p

I stay here every year for the Catalina Marathon. They offer a free van to/from the boat port, but it is close enough to walk (just like everything else in Avalon). If you have tons of luggage, take the van because the place is atop a hill near the Wrigley's home and has great views of the town below. Most of the rooms have a refrigerator, a microwave and a balcony, and sometimes even hot tub jets built into the bathtub! This year, the owner Don offered Segway Tours - not to be missed. I learned a bit about the historic tiles and fountains around the island, but nevermind the educational stuff, you have got to ride one of these! Coolest Gadget Ever! As nice as Don was, I seriously considered ditching him and making my getaway at a whopping 8 miles per hour, but where would I escape to considering I was on an island... ? Back to the Seaport Village, friendliest staff ever. When my boat back to the mainland was cancelled due to high winds, they only charged me a $35 cleaning fee to let me stay the extra night!
