Not really a restaurant, more like a place to get freshly made sushi to go! There IS a super small dining area, though.
They have raw fish(they can slice it for you[free]so can you eat it sashimi style :) !) Yummy homemade sauces/dressings, miso soup, and sushi rolls! Substitute white rice with brown rice for a little extra. I just got the tornado roll, spicy scallop roll, and a salad w/their ginger dressing. Ginger, soy sauce, and wasabi prepared with each sushi order! They also do party trays.
newly decorated and looks alot better now.
But again, good fast, well priced sushi. Great value.

OK, for carry out, this is damn good. Fresh and authentic. OK prices, but it is damn fresh since… Read more »
Fresh. Quick. Cheap. I can eat it in the comfort of my own home.
Sushi heaven.
My parents found this place when we were teenagers. Mom would grab some slabs of salmon... pick out some rolls... and it would be sushi heaven for dinner. As an adult Ive come to appreciate it more. It's great because you can grab some raw fish, go to the grocery store across the street, pick up everything you need to make your own rolls... and you got yourself a sushi rolling party.
Everyone is always really helpful and friendly. You'll find something you love whether you're a sushi novice or pro.
Bonus: free Dum Dums for the kids!
The Sea Ranch is without a doubt one of the best kept secrets in all of Chicagoland. I have not been in a sushi restaurant in Chicago that has fish as fresh and well prepared as this. Granted, this is mainly for take-out so that is the one downside. However, their sushi is all around excellent.
My dreams came true! Sea Ranch now has a little sitting area in their newly remodeled fish/sushi shop. I was there yesterday and as usual, had delicious maki rolls. I feel they have the freshest and most delicious sushi around. The best!
Not bad for a little sushi mart in the middle of the Chicago suburbs. They make a variety of sushi while you wait for reasonable prices, and they also have a lot of fish and other Japanese foods. They used to be the source of a lot of delicious sushi dinners at home while I was growing up.
I came here to pick up sushi to bring on a picnic. It is like a little grocery store where you can either pick up pre-made sushi or order it at the counter. There was some nice cuts of fish in there. I was watching the guy slice up a huge piece of fish and it made me crave sashimi. We ordered from behind the counter to get fresher pieces. You only have to wait 5-10 minutes so it is totally worth it. The rolls are cheap but they are pretty much the standard types of rolls. Nothing fancy. It is a great place to pick up sushi for picnic or order a platter for a party. (They have great deals on huge platters.)
This is one of the few places that you can get sushi for parties or just to eat without going to a restaurant. The prices are very reasonable and they can make a lot of nice platters.
They have basically every type of fish imaginable and they don't need more than a couple's days notice. In addition to making rolls, etc there is a small section of pre-made rolls and other Japanese food you can buy.
The staff and sushi workers are very nice and personable. Everything is fresh and they get a lot of business.
Best to come here to pick up sashimi or sushi boxes/lunches. Fish is fresh. The place is clean and I like the fact they slice the sashimi as a free service. Prices are moderate but if you want to buy sashimi "cheaply" the quality of the fish will probably be compromised
Fresh fish cleaned right. they always take their time preparing your purchase. I hate bones in my fish and they have never let me down. The emphasis seems to be on quality rather than selection. Sometimes they have some real gems in the fridge case like homemade salad dressings. Great sushi too. I hit this store for carry out lunch often. Resaonable prices as far as sushi goes.
For a carry-out sushi join, Sea Ranch is pretty great. They serve standard nigiri and maki (sorry, no white tiger rolls a la Tsunami) but it's fresh and inexpensive. In this case, simple = good. One roll I love is the spicy California crunch, which has tempura crunchies and a really unique pink (maybe ginger?) wrap instead of seaweed. I can never figure out what exactly it is, but it's yummy. Veggie rolls are about $2, most of the other maki is less than $4/roll, and you can even buy the spicy mayonnaise separately and add it to whatever you want. It's tasty. If you're in a rush and don't want to wait for your meal to be prepared on the spot, they always have pre-packed combos ready to go. Not too far away from Old Orchard Mall, so give it a try next time you're in the area!
The woman behind the counter was very accomodating and the party platter I got from here was really good! Everyone who got a taste kept saying, "Where did you get this sushi? It's really good!"
