Contrary to the first opinion, I say it was not bad. Actually, I enjoyed the luau experience at SeaLife. We bought the pack with admission to the park and luau.

Ok, the show with the marine animals is unusual and cater more for the children. The place is sorta old and needs more maintanance and care from the owners. But I saw the joy in the face of the little ones.... They liked it, so what can I say about it?

After the marine animals' show, the rain started to poor down. Luckily, they have a sheltered restaurant that worked well as plan B. The place was packed with people, but it was OK since is not so packed as the other traditional places in the island.

The food was tasty and with more varieties that other places. Everytime the trays we empty, the staff would replenish them with more food. So, you would not miss out on anything.  The dances and the fire dance were fun. The performers were skilled and made our night very entertaining. At the end of the night, we took the free shuttle back to the hotel.

Honestly, it was not a traditional place like I would expect, but the experience was pleasant and the people were very welcoming. I guess I am the type of person who enjoys more the mood/atmosphere of the place rather than the physical structure or the facility.

Anyway, it was not bad. Would I go back? With kids, I'd say YES.

My parents' friends came to visit, so they invited us to a luau at Sea Life Park. This must be advertised to tourists only because I've never heard of it and I'd never pay for it--$80 per adult and $50 per child! That's an expensive buffet for no lobster or lights (just moonlight).

The cost did include admission to the park, but the park closes at 5PM and the luau starts at 6PM, so... There wasn't much to see except boring, stinky penguins and a lame Dolphin Show that lasted 15 minutes.

The pig roasted in the underground oven for 10 hours was cool, and I did enjoy the luau food even if I couldn't see it in the dark. However, the Mai Tais reminded me a lot of the cheap, disgusting stuff I had at house parties in college. I found the entertainment boring and tacky (except for the one fire dancer), but tourists love the stuff locals like me take for granted.

The entire program lasts 3 hours, which is kind of long if you have undiagnosed ADD. But since you're losing out on $80, they should keep you there until the next morning--driving back to town at 9PM along the cliff with no lights is scary as heck!
