Just spent the weekend here. They are currently remodeling the facility, and the hotel has a lot of potential.

The views are spectacular, and they have a private stair case down to the beach. If you head down at low tide, you can go exploring the sea caves.

The rooms are tastefully decorated, and have all the amenities you would expect.

So, why not a higher rating? Well... the hotel lobby is not obvious when you pull into the hotel. The breakfast is continental and is served in an isolated room of the hotel. Seating is limited, and the food is setup on folding tables. It really has the feeling of  "temporary".

Did I mention they are in the middle of a remodel? How cool was it when the workers starting drilling / sawing god knows what at 7:30AM on Sunday morning. So much for sleeping in.

Would I stay there again? Absolutely. The price is reasonable, and the grounds are very nice. Can't wait to see this place when the remodel is complete.

I wanted to stay at the Cottage but for the price, Sea Crest was a better deal ($169/night) and it was located right next to the Cottage. Honestly, I enjoyed the premises - it isn't a resort but it's comfortable and with the rooms being newly renovated, the rooms have a clean feel coming with alarms with ipod docks and plasma tvs (what more can you ask?). The peeps at the front desk are helpful (don't forget to grab their delicious cookies) and they have continental breakfast on the first floor for you to grab some food and go back to your room to enjoy the view. Outside of the motel, they have steep steps down to the beautiful beach..about a 15 min walk to the pier...not bad..I'd stay here again if I wanted to make another trip to pismo. alright..this is my last pismo beach review so let's get back to SoCal!!

I got a late start on my trip and had to catch up to my group down in Pismo Beach. I rolled in at dark and had  to find them.  As luck would have it they took over the hot tub, that night and every other night. A good hot tub, big enough for groups and actually hot. It's right at the beach with a plexigass screen to block the wind, (it was very windy that day) and a good  view - great for sunsets. There is a pool but we didn't use it. I think we had one of the economy rooms, ground floor on the side of the building. It was so dark in there, all the lights didn't help. The room had a bit of old and new but was comfy and clean. The place is a short walk to town where the restaurant choices are disappointing.

Decent motel, although I thought it a bit expensive for what it was.  Right on the beach, which is nice.  There were two hot tubs, but they were consistently full of guys to the point of overflowing.  Bagels and cereal offered for breakfast.  However, the walls are REALLY thin.  We could totally hear the people next door.  Good thing we were on the end, otherwise we would have had volume from both sides.  If I was here with a "special friend" I would be nervous about our own noise level bothering guests around us.  Or maybe I'm just loud.  Something to think about, regardless.

Currently has new owners and a remodel in progress. Ask for a fully remodeled room if you can. Views are awesome though. Our room seems like it had pieces from the last 4 decades in it. The previous owners must have improved rooms by pieces. The remodel looks like they are ripping everything out and starting with a clean slate. Our bathroom smelled like vomit and the balcony smelled like urine. Rooms were cleaned but the smells persisted. We didn't complain because we were hardly there.Pool was great for kids with a little kiddie portion about a foot deep. Hot tub views of the ocean. The stairs down to the beach are treacherous, especially after a few beers. Pretty far away from the pier. Breakfast (bagels and cereal) a plus but the room where they serve it is tiny. We got a bitchin deal on the room. Also, be carefull about your belongings. When we first got their, they gave us the keys to the wrong room. We walked in and there was someone elses stuff. That shouldn't happen.
