After a very LONG day of beer pong at Berkeley Marina, my friends and I ventured to the Sea Breeze Deli for some much needed food.

I'll admit I had trouble finding the place (not because of the excessive drinking) because I was looking for an actual restaurant and this place seemed to be more of a converted shipping container.

Nonetheless, we all placed our orders with confidence.  I had the crab salad sandwich while my buddies opted for the calamari and fries, crab bisque and sweet potato fries.  All of it was goo-oo-ood!

Two small things: my sandwich was $10 which I think is really pricey, and the bathrooms... for shame, port-o-potties (the last thing I want to smell on a warm day next to a seafood restaurant).

After a brisk afternoon on the bay on a sailboat out of the Berkley marina one of my guests made a request for some fish and chips and after reading the reviews on yelp I knew right where to go!

We drove into their ample parking lot and up to the grill where a very nice lady made sure she got all of our orders correct before starting! I ordered the cod (fish) sandwich which was just perfect and all my guests all enjoyed their selections as well.

We did not encounter any of the problems that some of the other yelpers mentioned and we were asked by other people who worked there if we had been waited on, which I found helpful.

Yes their prices are not in the range of McDonald's, but for something hot and fast it really fit the bill to eat on the go.

Love the food and the atmosphere. The service, not so much.

Tonight I had some excellent clam chowder and clam strips. The only problem: I was overcharged. Luckily we said something, but I left with a bitter taste in my mouth about the rather brusque women who seem to run this place.

So why four stars? I have a fairly newfound taste for seafood and Seabreeze does it for me. I'll ignore everything else.

I echo all the food comments but I must add that you will be sorry if you do not order the garlic crab. It's pricey and you have to order it at the register, but you will LOVE it. Whole lotta garlic and nice crab!

Cool lil shack type spot on the Berkeley Marina. Just picnic tables and good seafood.

We had clam chowder in a bread bowl, whole garlic crab, and sweet potatoe fries!

All really good...I'll make my review as simple as the spot. Ideal for lunch and "fish n chips" type baskets...

Oh and the fruits look fresh and juicy.

Highly disappointing. Considering I specfically went online to search for a good burger joint.

I did do a take-out order.
2 cheeseburgers/ 1 order of calamari

All the food was PLAIN NO TASTE.
Yes the preparation seems fresh but its as if they didn't add any flavor to it.

Really wanted this place to be good.
The environment is very nice, perfect location - low key --has alcohol -- has basic groceries -- smoothes

but food thumbs down =*(

At first glance, this little food shack-cum-corner store fruit stand seems more a lonely roadside attraction on a unpaved road than a bustling, sun-dappled seafood destination on the water. They peddle everything form fish and chips to gorgeous produce and Boont's 22ozs.

Keep your beer in a paper bag, plop down on the red picnic tables alongside I-80 and stuff for face with fried sea bounty goodness. Hop on nearby Bay Trail and work it off while gazing into the rippling ocean. No wonder this place is an East Bay institution!

Don't judge a place by the way it looks..because at first you might think it is just a little mini-mart, but they also serve some really good fried seafood and clam chowder. I passed by this place all the time when I drove to the marina, but never really noticed it. I think this is the perfect place to get some good food after a day at the marina. I ordered prawns with fries and a bread bowl of clam chowder. They come in large portions and I got full really quickly.

I like how they set up picnic tables to eat outside. You get a real good feel of the sea breeze...hence the name "Sea Breeze Market & Deli".

This little market is a pretty good spot to grab a bite eat. Take it to go or go ahead and eat it right there at counter or  on one of the picnic tables (very clean). I had a cup of chowder and an order of fish an chips and they both were very satisfying. Although the your choices for food are kind of limited you can get everything you need for meal. You can choose your drink, from juice/milk to grabbing a soda/beer and pretty much everything in between. Be sure to keep your beer in the brown bag though. Also  you can snatch up a piece of dessert as well. The food is reasonably priced and there didn't appear to be any mark up on the beverages, which was nice.  I'd definitely come back to this place.

I came here last Sunday to try out the calamari and chips. For $10 dollars i got basket of frys and tiny little pieces of calamari. The frys were good but the calamari was just average. They were crispy but they didn't have much taste to them. Even the cocktail and tartar sauce didn't help. I guess i have to go to fisher mans wharf to get some good calamari.

I really liked how the place is setup, alot of benches with umbrellas outside. Real nice for a nice hot and sunny day. The place itself looks like a shack on a side of the road because it is a shack on the side of the road. Everything is moderately priced, they have a very nice variety of drinks. They even had my favorite Orangina which is very hard to find these days. Only a few different stores and markets have them anymore.

Service here is OK, the cooks could be more friendly but hey its a shack. The place looks like they have a good menu with alot of different seafood selection. They also have sandwiches, and serve yourself clam chowder. And last they do have crab but for $20 dollars a crab i rather go buy some fresh crab and boil it myself.

They sell beer....but you can't drink it on the premises. It's such a cruel joke when you're eating fried food and sitting outside on a nice sunny day.

This is still my favorite place in Berkeley for easy seafood. Going to try the oyster burger next time.

I feel silly to say this, but I completely forgot about this place. This use to be my run away spot on super beautiful days...I'd order lunch, enjoy and read for class. The staff is pleasant and the seafood and food selections are incredible.

I recently ordered the oyster burger, so yummy. Its super big and can be divided between two, no appetizers or sides needs. My favorite use to be the calamari strips, thick rings of calamari, lightly battered. My last visit was disappointing. The calamari strips now are nothing more than batter and barely any calamari :( Maybe the calamari burger will give me the fix I need!

The prices are super cheap and there is plenty of parking. Usually its decent finding somewhere to sit, but on summer days it gets rather crowded. Its located super close to the marina, so you can order and enjoy the view, eat in your car or lay out on their terrace. Any way you do it, you will definitely find one item on the menu that will make you want to come back for more.

O and vitamin water has a new flavor called Sync. If its not new, its new to me but super yummy...wide selection of juices, sodas, lattes and shakes.

Every couple weeks or so I feel like coming here for lunch... but I always seem to be disappointed.  I like the place, the setup, the selection... the only problem is the food is just not that good.

You would expect it to be better by the smell and look of things, but it is very mediocre.   I typically get fried seafood (fish, calamari, clams), but have also tried their clam chowder and crab sandwich.  Nothing bad, but nothing great either.

This place has the absolute best steamed crab, with butter and galic!! It is fresh, and oh so tasty!
I also love their prawns.
This is the best place to go for fresh sea food in the Bay that I've tried. Most restaurants out here serve seafood that was manufactured...not tasty! I do not like paying for frozen foods that i can buy at Costco, and make myself at home.
This place is grerat

Great location.  Nice place to stop if you're going kite flying at the Berkeley Marina.  They have fresh produce and a little hot food section in the back where you can order fried seafood and sandwiches.  I've had the clam chowder, which is nothing special.  But their fried oysters are pretty good as well as the fried shrimp.

I don't think the people here are all that friendly, which is sad because a place like this needs character.  Prices are a little high too, but I'm guessing it's because of the location and lack of competition nearby.  Overall, nice place to stop if you're in the area.

As other reviewers of this place say, 'it's an institution'.  It's been here for years and years and is a fun place to stop in for a quick lunch or drink.  They have a nice choice of foods, from deli sandwiches to hamburgers and seafood.  Whenever I stop here, it's usually to get a shrimp cocktail or something of that ilk.  This is not fine dining, it's al fresco dining and it's fun.  The food is fresh and that's nice.  It's not great and I'm not going to lead anyone to believe it's great, but it is fun and a great place to stop when in the area, especially on a nice day like today.

On a Sunday, if you're leaving Golden Gate Fields for their $1 day & need something else to fill up your already full-from-beer belly, this is the place for fried seafood!!
I've only been here on a Sunday & it's always been packed. Do know that you get more for your $ when you get the seafood-fries combo as opposed to the seafood a-la carte plates.

I'm reviewing this place even though I've never eaten the food here. They have a lot of it, and it doesn't look half bad.  Now that Yelp has this groovy new update feature, I'll pig out and report back to you on another day.

For now, I'm giving Sea Breeze 3.5 stars because its a full service market midway on the Bay Trail between Emeryville, where I started walking, and my destination of El Cerrito.  I really needed my diet mountain dew by the time I got there.  I really needed their port-a-potty too. I noticed they have every soda pop, sports drink and antioxidant loaded, vitamin infused, chi chi water drink known to man. And beer, lots and lots of beer.

Let's review:  Delapidated shack, holding large quantities of beer, sodas, snacks, sandwiches, hot food, and coffee in all of its starbuckian forms. Picnic tables, where you can hang out alongside the trail on the bay, and gaze over the water at the lovely Emerald City.  Nice. If the food is good, this puppy's going up to five stars.

I probably don't have to tell you this, but don't use the little blue house unless you really have to. It is not as bad as the ones in India. That's all I can say for it. And that's not good.

This place is a bay area gem and should be enjoyed by all. it is a mini-market with deli that is a nice place to go for an outdoor bite to eat...a bit of escape from the parking woes of the berkeley/emeryville area. i usually get a sandwich and sit on one of the benches outside by the gravel parking lot and just relax.

very casual. outdoor. deli and fresh produce. could be a little stop on the bike/walk trail, but i don't really bike/walk...so i just exit from the freeway.

That's 3 1/2.  There's something to be said for sitting at a picnic table w/ the sun on your back watching cars and bicycles pass.  This place has been here for years.  It's virtually a Berkeley waterfront institution.  I'm not sure what was here before, but there are old fruit trees and berry bushes delineating the eating area alongside the University Avenue extension west of I-80.  They're struggling along on their own, having been pretty much untended for years from the looks of them, but they're still gamely putting out fruit.  It's quite a truck stop, w/ several semis parked in their unpaved lot.  It's a great place on a warm day.

Alan and I both ordered calamari burgers and we shared an order of fries.  The calamari came on a nice, sturdy roll.  It was too much bread so I tore off pieces and tossed them to the birds which congregate there waiting for scraps.  The calamari was good, although they use more mayo than I would and Miz Tam would have been totally grossed out.  The fries were good and crisp and salted just enough.  What we couldn't finish went to the birds as well.

With great sadness, I update and downgrade my old favorite.  Early this week we got there around closing time.  OK, so maybe the regular cook wasn't there, maybe they'd already started to turn off the grill and the fry daddy.  Maybe.  But our sandwiches were substandard.  My old favorites, calamari steak and fried oysters.  In both cases, the fish was heavily crusted in a slightly overcooked, possibly pre-frozen batter -- not like the light, tasty coating that used to bring out the protein flavors.  You couldn't taste the calamari and barely got a whiff of oyster gut.

The worst was, the preparer knew nothing about how to make a sandwich.  As in, she must have never EATEN a sandwich.  I forgot to say "hold the tartar" until I saw her pick up the plastic squirt bottle.  She squirted right through my pleas, "No mayo, no sauce, please stop," and said, "It's not mayonnaise, it's tarter sauce."  It was cheap, greasy mayo, 100%.  Grossly slathered on.  The whole sandwich was tongue-numbing salty.  Nice, thinly sliced tomatoes were piled up in a wad right in the middle, where you couldn't get your mouth around the sandwich.

As if this weren't depressing enough, the fries were soggy and uninspired.

Thinking it was all our fault, we went back a few nights later.  Before the cook went home.  "Hold the mayo, hold the tartar."  Stripped to it's purity, it was clear that the  basic ingredients were just not fresh enough and the preparation lacked care.

Hope you guys recover!

I have passed by this place for years, on my way to the marina or whenever I'm taking the highway side road, but never tried anything until I started my job which is nearby.  I've heard great reviews about this place from my co-workers so the next time they went, I asked them to bring back a crab sandwich for me.  It was good, but nothing special, like any other sandwich, and a little too creamy.  It's a cute little shack-like place with picnic tables and close to the ocean.  If you're ever around the area, it's a good place to give a try.

I love the feel to this place, if it's the perfect day you'll love it here. It right next to the Berkeley pier and it's really nice out there. You see all kinds of people with their dogs and having picincs. The food was good, we had a friend catfish and fried shrimp. They were both fried perfectly and we enjoyed it. We also had a smoothie which looked to be really fresh. They had a good size market that have all kinds of drinks, snacks, and fruit. I would go back.

I give this place 5 stars (and I don't dole that score out easily) for a few reasons:

-Picnicking by the frontage road on a warm and sunny day makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  There's the subtle hint of a marina nearby....and joggers all healthy and shit....sigh. (if it's not a nice day then get take-out.)

-You can order things like an oyster or calamari burger.  How many places offer that?!

-You can get your typical deli shopping done as well- oh look! I need some snack-ums and gum for later...and here's my tasty vitamin water...Ah, screw it, I'm treating myself to a beer.....

-Excellent place for picnic provisions before exploring the nearby and ever-amazing Albany Bulb. (another review for another time.)

-And lastly, they have the BEST GODDAMN GARDEN BURGER I HAVE EVER HAD.  I shit you not.  I can't even order the seafare anymore, even though I feel like I should with a name like Sea Breeze....and if you're not a mayo fan like me, just make sure to ask for it without.

The Sea Breeze is the perfect spot to stop and grab some fish n' chips on your way to either Adventure Playground (yipppppeeeee!!!) or for heading down to Cesar Chavez Park and walking the pooch.

I like the fish and chips tho' I do pay the price later (not for theirs specifically, just the whole grease/fried food thing) but I am a sucker for fish n' chips and happily forget all previous consequences. They are friendly, make fresh squeezed juice and smoothies, and the coffee isn't bad.

Seating outside on a sunny warm day feels like the ultimate "platying hooky" kind of afternoon. I like all the birds that land on the tables, and the whole funky slightly seedy scene. A good spot for lunch. If you go very early in the morning, chances are good you'll see fishermen on their way out which makes things seem muy authentico. The clam chowder is tasty, and the potato salad is plain, but hits the spot.
I am also a sucker for counter help who think nothing of calling me "Hon" or "Darlin'"...good spot!

Everyone deserves to have a perfect day before they die, don't ya think?  Well, my perfect day happened to be on my birthday and involved a delicious turkey sandwich from Sea Breeze Market & Deli.  I felt bad for not ordering something from the "sea", but I had my heart set on a turkey sandwich before I knew where my boyfriend was taking me.

Delicious turkey sandwich + unpretentious deli shack + awesome view (if you are willing to climb through the bushes and sit on a log) = a dope and memorable start to a Happy Birthday.

Usually stop here before walking the Pits.  I particulary like the location, with its outdoor seating and sea breeze.  Its shabby looking appearance gives it a nice distinct look.  I usually order a sandwich and maybe some fried calamari if I'm really hungry.

Their seafood menu is pretty much standard in terms of taste and quality, nothing too spectacular and unique that would make this place an absolute must visit.  Still worth checking out.

Yum-yum!   If you want a great fried seafood lunch with absolutely zero ounces of pretense then you need to come to Sea Breeze to eat lunch!
This place looks like a shack and does not inspire confidence from the outside, but once you get to the seafood counter all your doubts will disappear... They got kickass calamari and they have (had?  I didn't see it last time we were here) some way tasty Macaroni & Cheese as well.   The soups they serve can be good, and they can be just ok... it's not as reliable of a lunch.

Still, for the cheap price, this is a wonderful place to come and have lunch, especially in March or April when Spring is in the air: just eat your lunch and stare at the Bay... simply wonderful.

Otherwise known as the Truck Stop by my co-workers, Sea Breeze Market & Deli, is a wonderful and unique lunch spot for any Emeryville, Berkeley, Oakland, East Bay working stiff with $10 and an appetite for "crustacean". Besides various presentations of seafood (mostly fried), they offer the odd burger and a wide selection of beer.

I highly recommend you pee before going, as the restroom situation is "porta-a-pottyingly" disgusting. Is that a word? Screw it. That is what happens when I try to be "useful". 4 stars.

Neat place to go to grab a bite before or after hitting the track.  Nice outdoor picnic area to enjoy on a good day.  Everything there is always fresh and delicious, and the folks working there are always nice.

I do have to say that I've never had any of their sandwhiches, only the re-heated premade items they have in display refrigerator, but they've all tasted wonderful.
