8 reviews for Sea Breeze Inn & Cottages
I was just here this weekend, and want to add to my review. Per my last entry, this place's decor is recently updated. The room we stayed in (and our friends' room) was brightly painted, with comfortable new chairs and good bedding. It was the first time we stayed in the "Inn" part of this place, and I was just as happy as my prior stays in the lodge part.
Service at the front desk continues to be superb, and the rates are extremely competitive. Pacific Grove is a great place to stay, if you're willing to drive/walk to places. Also a great place to escape - one could easily hole themselves up in the town and enjoy a quiet weekend away.
Our only recommendation to them would be to update the shower heads in the bathrooms with old ones, and get better (fluffier and larger) towels.
I also want to rave about two things:
1. The new fire pit. Very cool! Great idea for the local - perfect for the foggy, cool weather that tends to blow through. It's open until 10pm, when quiet hours begin, but is very enjoyable in the early evening or after dinner.
2. This place is very close to the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary. If you are in the area between October and early March, walk the block down to this place and look for the butterflies...it's amazing.
Overall, I am still pleased with this place and would continue to recommend it to people.

First of all, I think this place has gone through renovations since some of the prior reviews. Also,… Read more »
This was the nicest $100 room I've ever stayed at. Modern colors, crown molding, and very clean. There was even a fridge and microwave in the room. I even left my wallet there with $100 in cash and they were honest enough to save it for me with nothing missing. I would definitely return.

While this certainly wasn't the best or fanciest place I've ever stayed, I have mostly good things to say about the Sea Breeze Inn.
First, my reservation was at the Sea Breeze Lodge, but we were moved across the street to a room with two queen beds (instead of one) and wireless with no upcharge.
Second, and related to the first, when my friend arrived several hours before me, she was able to get into our room even though the reservation was in my name (hers was listed as another guest). This was VERY nice and convenient, as she'd been on an exceptionally early flight from the East Coast, while I was driving down from San Francisco.
Third, our room itself was totally adequate and comfortable. No complaints there.
Fourth, I had a killer asiago bagel from the continental breakfast spread the first morning that we were there.
The hotel isn't terribly conveniently located, unless you're like us and prefer to explore on foot.
Also, the walls? Thin. Very thin. Thin enough that we could quite clearly hear the argument the couple next door had for most of Sunday night, resuming before 5am Monday morning. That was annoying, but if we'd had earplugs, we would've been fine.
I guess the moral of this story is: bring comfortable walking shoes, earplugs, and an appetite for asiago bagels if you stay here.

My 4 stars should not be mistaken as being an indication of 4 star accommodations...however, this spot completely met our needs for a weekend away and at an extremely reasonable price. My husband and I stayed in an upstairs room at the far back of the complex, which was not as nicely decorated as some of the rooms in the pictures on the website, but was clean and filled with light from big windows. The room heated up nicely when we turned on the heat, despite a little rattling from the wall unit. I took a peek in some of the cottages and they seemed quite lovely with nicer bedding and furnishings. Still...for $75 I can't complain one bit with the room I got and if you are looking for a cleanly but no frills option on a budget, I would certainly recommend this spot.
Oh....and they have some light breakfast snacks available in the morning too.

Smelly, smelly, smelly Small room. Looks cute on the outside but
there is an indescribable bad smell permeating everything in
the room. Room so small that the bathroom door knocks into
one bed. NO TUB. Black bedspreads... makes you wonder about
the cleanliness of the beds.. Cars park about 5 or 6 feet from your bed=
noisy neighbors packing up to go in the early morning....but
none of that matters because THE SMELL OVERPOWERS
YOUR MIND AND PENETRATES INTO EVERY CRANNY OF
YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS. WHAT IS THE SMELL ??!! could not wait to leave..motel 6 has to be better than this. Rate in a "cabin" was $113 with dog.
It would have been 4 stars had our fellow neighbors at this sleepy cottage inn NOT been major a-holes.
After an outing at the aquarium, we made it back to our room around 8 p.m. to wash up and head out. We chilled out on the bed a bit and watched a re-run of The Office where we laughed a bit and then heard a loud knock on the other side of the wall, apparently code for "Shut up, you're being too loud." At 8 p.m. on a Saturday, mind you.
And then we went out for dinner and drinks, came back around 11 p.m. and I took off my boots and they landed with a small thud on the floor. KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK. Again our neighbors rapped on our wall. A girl can't even take off her shoes without being shushed???
Unfreakingbelievable. We felt like we had to tip-toe around our hotel room and it was our freakin little weekend getaway too, dammit. I did like the room, it was really cute and well-appointed. But if I were to ever return, I would tell the hotel staff to not stick me next to some major old fogies or major quiet freaks.

WOW! This room really sucked! We got this room through Orbitz 3 months in advance, to try to save some money, and it still was not cheap. We were willing to pay the price because we were under the impression that we were getting a "cottage" and we were planning a romantic weekend.
Not the case...
We got a handicap room (neither my husband nor I is handicap). With a door joining us to another room which was occupied by other people. We could hear every utterance of this other family as I am sure they heard ours. I don't even think they were talking loud it is just the way the rooms are. At night they were snoring and we could hear even that very loudly. The crappy little alarm clock went off at about 3am even though it wasn't set. The continental breakfast was not even good for free food.
The absolute worst was when we were sitting in the room and all the sudden we smelled poop, really, really bad and then all of the sudden we heard the neighbors toilet flush. SOOO NASTY!
The only way I could recommend that anyone stay here is if you go first in person and find out what room they are going to give you, before you shell out 250 BUCKS for a room worse than MOTEL 6 !!
Cute place in a quiet location. We stayed in a cottage--charming, nicely decorated and comfortable. Very clean, and the bathroom came with a goodie bag. The breakfast was simple--Costco muffins and bagels with cream cheese, butter and jam; coffee, tea and cocoa--but fine. The hotel is a renovated motel that is close to downtown Pacific Grove and Asilomar Beach. It's in the hotel section on the "main street" so there was some street noise, but Pacific Grove is delightfully mellow. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.
