I am so glad I scoped out Yelp for finding a computer repair place in PB... the great reviews here led me to go to SD Laptops and I gotta say, these guys are awesome. Actually, I just had a second repair done on my laptop there and I super happy with how quickly they helped me out. My laptop is my business, entertainment, and research so going even a few hours without it is challenging (stupid I know, but that's life now) and these guys took care of my issues, both times, in just a couple hours - normally they say 24 hours turn around time, but they hooked me up big time!
Also, they are very knowledgeable... just from explaining what my computer was doing they accurately diagnosed the issue and expedited the repair. The last time my computer had a virus and crashed, I paid $130 and still lost data/programs - that wasn't the case this time and I love that these guys only charge $89 flat rate.
I highly recommend going to SD Laptops for any repairs first... they are patient, honest, and skilled! -

Not knowing our MacBook Pro had a little run in with some H2O my daughters Laptop stopped working. Since we have Apple Care for our 2 month old computer, I take it to the Apple Store. They open it and say it got wet, and the Battery and Logic Board need to be replaced at an estimate of $1200 or more. Hum, not wanting to spend that, I decided to do a little research. Luckily my client that day had her laptop repaired her. She highly recommended SD Laptops Repair. My phone call was promptly answered, and my questions answered and I was on my way to drop off the laptop. With in hours Cameron had opened my computer, cleaned it from the inside out, and we escaped with only the $89 Charge, and a new battery! I'm happy to have found this business, fast, professional and affordable!

Had my computer fixed here a while ago and they did an awesome job. They made it simple, backed up everything, and got what needed to get done. All you do is simply fill out a sheet when you get there saying what you need backed up and put back on your computer and your set. The only things that I believe don't get restored are specific programs you download like Adobe, etc.
Plus, they have a Yelp discount that definitely helps. They are already cheaper than nearly every other place I checked out.
I will definitely come back here if I have anymore computer problems, and knowing my computer, I probably will... -

I don't know what I would have done without SD Laptops! I have a very old laptop, with a ton of very important files and programs that seems to be virus prone. As a web designer I can deal with a fair amount of computer issues, but twice now I've been smacked down by viruses so virulent there was no way I was going to be able to get the computer back up and running (one time I couldn't get past the blue-screen-of-death). SD Laptops cleaned the viruses off for an absurdly low flat rate and my ancient little laptop is running better than it has in 5 years! It only took a day each time and I was able to get back up and running ASAP.

SD Laptop Repair is AWESOME! If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I spilled coffee all over my work laptop and had to have it repaired. They were able to take it the same day (in the afternoon) and had it ready for me the next morning. I really appreciated the quick turn around since I really can't work without my laptop.
Adolfo is the person who worked on my computer and he also worked on a Microsoft Outlook issue and cleaned it up to make it run faster without charging me any extra. He was pleasant and absolutely wonderful! They have definitely created a loyal customer! -

These guys are great! The DC jack broke on my laptop, and not only did they have the best price in town ($89...the same flat rate they have for most repairs), they got it back to me in under 24 hours which is almost unheard of with other places I've used! And when it still wasn't working properly after I got it back, they let me bring it back to do some tests for free! Plus they're super nice! I will definitely be using them whenever I need my laptop fixed again (which, considering how clumsy I am, will probably not be too long from now...)

My laptop keyboard was acting up and decided to check this place out after all the good reviews. The owner, Cameron was a really cool guy and checked out it without hesitation. Had it fixed within minutes! SWEET!!! Highly recommend and will definitely come back for future repair needs.

Love this place. My laptop turned into a desktop since I always had to keep my laptop charging since the battery died on me.
Then the charger became loose and the "charging light" would turn on and off. I first reach out to HP for assistance. Not only did they want to charge me around $300 to send in my laptop in for servicing but they also said if I want over the phone assistance they'd have to charge me around $150.00 but their's no guarantee they'd be able to help me. WTF and WTH....so ..a light bulb went off and I consulted with the reliable yelp and here I found SD laptop repairs. Not only were the gentlemen working at this place was helpful but they also had my laptop fixed within a few days.
YES! Jackpot!
My laptop feels and works just as new. -

I was freaking out because my macbook pro finally went out of comish after almost a year of spilling soda on the keyboard. . . I took it to the Apple store at UTC and the end result was, "Ya, your logic board is pretty much fried." Really!? It took you less than 10MIN. to come up with that conclusion? WTF. & you want me to seriously pay $755 to get that sh*t replaced? You gotta be kidding me... might as well buy a new laptop. Anyway, I left the Apple store feeling like crap and was super sad that I might have to cough up that much cash just to save my baby.
So, I did some research on Yelp and found a couple of places that might be potential winners. The first one I called didn't work on macbooks and the second one was closed until next tuesday... really? Your loss but anyway, I'm so glad I found this place. The workers are super friendly and very helpful. I talked to a guy, told him my situation and he told me to bring it in so he could check it out. I brought it in yesterday and it was fixed by today. I couldn't believe it!! He told me my logic board wasn't even fried and he's seen worse. All he had to do was clean up my logic board and viola, logic board fixed. I was so happy when he called me to tell me the good news. I only paid $89 for it get fixed. Way better than paying $755 for something that wasn't even broken.
This by far is the best place to get your laptop fixed. I'm gonna refer all my friends to come here. Excellent service = a very happy Criselle. -

When my laptop got a virus, I was sooo relieved to find a place close, inexpensive and with such good reviews! I brought my laptop in yesterday around noon, and he had it ready for me a couple hours later, only I had work so I had to pick it up today.
Anyway, I got a nasty little virus that wouldn't let me open some of my programs, and while I had rid of these types of viruses before, they would take me about 4+ hours. Since I didn't want to go through that type of ordeal again, I decided to drop it off here! Thankfully, there was a 10 dollar Yelp discount, which I used - yay!
When he returned my laptop, he had also installed a new antivirus program for me, since my McAfee one was not compatible / old.
Hopefully I won't have to come back here again for computer problems, but if I do have issues, this is DEFINITELY the place to go!1 Previous Review: Show all »

I do not give 5 stars lightly but these guys (esp. Cameron) are great and totally deserve it!
Originally I was drawn to these guys because of their great Yelp * reputation. I brought in my laptop because i had weakened the a/c adapter plug to the point of it snapping off and needed to have it replaced. I also needed to get a new cord- frayed from bending but the cheapest replacement I could find was on Amazon and would not be here for at least 3 days. Cameron charged me the standard $85- less the $10 discount and had it fixed by 5 pm that day. In addition, he jimmied the cord so it would survive long enough for its replacement to arrive for freeeee!
When about 2 months later the resoddered a/c plug came loose (again due to my negligence) he was willing to fix it for a reduced charge because I was honest about it not being his workmanship that was the issue. Love, love, love doing business with honest people who value customer service and repeat business over a quick buck (Fry's /Best Buy can you hear me?). These guys are my go to reps.
Helped me replace a display screen for waaaay less than I expected too. This the kind of business you should patronize IMHO. -

So the power jack on my laptop went kaput one day and within 10 minutes of being computer-less, I already had the shakes and knew I needed help to feed my digital addiction. Fortunately, SD Laptops was there for me.
I dropped my computer off on a Saturday and it was ready, good as new, the following Monday. And not only were they fast, but they were cheap, too. Whereas I would have paid God-only-knows-how-much at Best Buy, SD Laptops charged me a flat rate of $75 (normally $85, but I got a Yelp discount). As an added bonus, they fashioned me a spiffy, new power cord at no cost. I love these guys and you will, too! -

Recommended.
I drove all the way from Poway solely of the reputation of this place. Fee is flat rate, turnaround is fair, and Cameran is so chill that no matter what the problem he's not going to make you feel stupid.
They are competent and will give you the best advice even if it means they lose a sale. If they goof up, they'll make it right, even if the resolution takes money out of their pocket.
The only thing they could work on is the communication. You kinda have to call them to get a status update or to find out if there is a delay. If you don't call they wont call.
- If they can't fix it, you don't get charged the $89.
- Beware the meter maids.. They're everywhere. -

One Sony Vaoi screen broken by a excited dog, replaced.
One Asus Netbook dropped and broken by a careless operator (me), fixed.
The Sony screen was installed within 3 days and cost $250 less than the price quoted by the actual manufacturers . The forever-switching-off-even- if-I-moved- it-slightly Asus Netbook was repaired within 24 hours for under $90.
All this happened within the space of 3 weeks. At the rate we go through laptops is it any wonder we drive an extra 30 minutes to the geniuses at SD Laptop Repair Services? -

I went to SD Laptops after reading these amazing reviews. It was an almost 1/2 hour drive to get there but hey, for a huge recommendation why not. Unfortunately, I didn't experience the kind of service that is talked about here at Yelp.
First, I brought my laptop in and was able to get it back within 48 hours. A plus, right? Wrong. When I brought it home and started to do my work, all of the same problems were happening - nothing at all changed. The viruses were still on there. I'm not sure what they did. So, drive another 1/2 hour back to put it in to service.
Second, they decided to take everything off the computer and put it back on. Great, this will be the resolution? Yes and no. I had to wait a few days for this process to happen. It did fix the errors but I come to find out that all of my important files that I ABSOLUTLEY NEEDED are gone. When I call them to see about getting them back I was told that they were deleted off their server. In other words, I was out of luck.
What I give them is that a flat fee option is great. There is no guessing on the final cost. However, from the service I had and then feeling burned in the end, I felt a little upset. Having to drive back and forth that many times, with gas being what it was, that flat fee added up in the end. I'm hoping that my instance is not common but when the computer ended up with the same problems in the first visit I was concerned over what actually was done to it initially. Shouldn't this have been obvious that it was still broken? I don't know. They are friendly at SD Laptops, I'll give them that. -

I am so grateful for these guys. I brought my macbook into the shop after reading the reviews on yelp and I am so glad I listened to my fellow yelpers. My beloved macbook's screen was not turning on and I had yet to back up thousands of songs and pictures (including wedding and honeymoon...eeek). I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Luckily this team of smart men fixed my laptop quickly, correctly, and surprisingly cheap. The best part about these guys is that they were extremely honest and let me know up front how much it would be to look and fix the computer. If additional parts were needed they were going to call and let me know up front before just doing the work. I can say that the Apple store would never do this. I would recommend SD laptops for anyone who has computer issues!!

This guy is A-OK. I had it up to (HERE) with upgrading my desktop CPU cooler. Push pins had me pushing my patience. A few words of advice and I was on my way, hulu can stream and now it's just Justin Jizzing in his pants, no CPU fan to disturb the peace.
I wouldn't hesitate to bring in my computer, or laptop. (laptops are his specialty) -

Excellent service.
My laptop's screen kept experiencing temporary blackouts until it eventually permanently blacked out. I sent my laptop in to to see what the matter was, and Cameron explained that the video card dislodged from its securings from constantly expanding and contracting its size as the temperature changed. I paid my $79 and was able to get it back the next day repaired.
Then, about a month later, it crashed again. At this point, I would've given the place more of a 3-star rating, so why the 5? Well, I called Cameron to see if I could get a refund. I explained to him that as a UCSD student without a car, it's a major hassle for me to find rides to Pacific Beach, so going back to get it fixed again wasn't worth the effort. He offered to pick up my laptop from my apartment and then return it himself, free of charge because of the warranty.
My laptop's back in working condition. Cameron admitted that this is a problem that can't be permanently resolved, so I have no clue when it'll break down again, but I give the place a 5 star rating anyway for the top notch customer service. -

Cameron at SD Laptops is a genius. He went to war against an evil demon virus and reigned victorious. Not only did he successfully restore my computer to its working state, he spent a LOT of time retrieving my precious files and backing them up for me. All my personal files, music, photos--basically my world--was almost lost but he got it done.
To top it off, Cameron did all this at a price & turnaround time that would put Geek Squad and the other majors to shame. I highly recommend his services! -

I originally found Cameron on CL about 2 years ago (think he was still a student) and took my laptop to him from Encinitas- so worth the drive! I was so impressed at his professionalism and honest work- he was so fair in the charge- he literally had to take it apart and put it back together and did so for so little $.
Now I took another laptop and even though his business has grown exponentially, his professionalism and honesty have not waivered- it's so hard to find this type of quality work- and he's SOOO chill and patient (I'm so bad at explaining the issues with the computers so it can be frustrating- not for Cameron). He was VERY fair in what he charged again and was super quick in figuring things out and fixing the issues. My computer feels like new again!
I will forever completely trust this guy with my computers! I strongly suggest you do the same- -

Cameron you are EXCELLENT!!!! My computer went in with a Virus on Tuesday morning and was done the same day in the PM (thanks to my husband). The shop is on the 2nd level and I am not sure if the parking belongs to them, so I just parked on the street. My visit wasn't long and was in and out in a jiffy. I will continue to be a client. If Cameron finds something and has to fix it, he will let you know what it is he needs to do and the cost before he starts. Very honest and knowledgeable. I HIGHLY recommend this place FIRST. Daughter broke power connection. It is her college computer, so she needed it quickly. Called several places. Most wanted to sell me a new laptop. It seemed it would always be cheaper to buy a new laptop rather than repair the current one, albeit, I would have to give them my daughters old computer in exchange for the new one. They never discussed what it would cost to transfer the data from the old to new laptop.
Was referred to SD Laptops. Thank goodness for the referral. He had it repaired in 1 day. Great service. Easy to deal with. Worth the trip to Cass St., even when we had to travel from RB to PB. -

My poor, old, decrepit Dell wouldn't turn on and I thought I needed a new power cord. After searching around I realized it was the power jack/ac adapter plug on my computer that was loose and found SD Laptops using Yelp. They of course had great reviews so I wasn't too worried, I called in to see if I could drop it off at 5:59 PM and Cameron was nice and said since he knew I was coming he could stay a few minutes later which was super nice because it's hard to get there with my work schedule. I let him know I wasn't in a hurry to get it back and he could take his time, but in what seems to be typical fashion it was ready the next day at 10:00 AM. I got the $10 yelp discount no problems whatsoever, no hidden costs and he fixed my power cord too so I could get by for awhile without having to buy a new one. It's been a few weeks now and smooth sailing.

Plainly, these guys are the best! My brother brought a laptop here & was surprised at how quick their turn around was & how informative they were! I took my wife's laptop in the morning & had it back before they were closed (Cameron said luckily they were slow that day, but still)! Before you pay, he'll show you what he did & answer any questions you have! I drive from East County just got their quality & honest work! There were plenty of other computer places on the way advertising cheaper rates, but your $$$ is well spent here!!

My fellow Yelpers, you always impress me. When I look at a 5-star review for a service, I'm always suspicious if there's only one or two ratings. But when I look at a 5-star review and there are 10+ ratings, well that, my friends, is a service to check out.
My Gateway PC crapped out on me a few days ago. I turned it on, it beeped at me 3 times (I'm pretty sure it was saying "bleep off bleeper"), and nada. No error, no screen connection. I Googled the error, found a possible solution, but really didn't want to be bothered with trouble shooting. So I thought to myself, "myself, what should I do...waste lots of time and effort trying to fix this, or go see where Yelpers think I should go?". Obviously, I followed the latter.
I dropped off my PC mid-morning today, told Cameron the problem, and it was like he read the same trouble shooting website I had visited - because he spot-on knew the problem. I left feeling pretty good about the situation (but still wondering if the reviews were too good to be true), and then got a call from him that afternoon letting me know the problem was solved. The process couldn't have been easier, and he's a nice guy. I hope I don't have to see him again with PC in tow, but if something else goes awry, Cameron is the man.
BTW, I mentioned I found him on Yelp since I wanted to brag about you all...and he has a promo where I saved a 10 spot by mentioning Yelp. He also installed some virus software to keep the PC all clean and preventing future visits. -

I was referred to SD Laptops by a cousin of mine who had his girlfriend's Macbook screen repaired there for a relatively low price. I got on to Yelp and decided to check out how people are reviewing this place. I have got to say that all of the five star reviews are deserved as this place is AWESOME. I'm writing this review after having just gotten home from dropping off and picking up my laptop all this morning, so that's just a bit of a testament as to how fast their service is.
The screen on my Toshiba laptop had been BUSTED for over a year. I sorta just gave up on using it as a laptop and instead hooked up an old LCD monitor to it so that I still had access to a PC at home when needed. My cousin had been recommending this place to me for a long time and after doing research on other places that provide the same screen replacement services I was in need of, SD Laptops seemed to be far and away the best.
And without a doubt, they are. I phoned in my order Wednesday of this week (paid over the phone with Yelp discount), my replacement screen arrived Friday, dropped off my laptop 10AM Saturday morning and before it was even 11AM my laptop was back to being a laptop! Afterward, I asked if there were any chance that they had any replacement rubber bumpers as one of mine fell off and I was given one free of charge. Incredibly fast service and whoever I talked to over the phone and in person were always polite and helpful.
When it comes to laptop repairs and/or screen replacements, SD Laptops is definitely my number one recommendation. THANKS! -

KUDOS TO CAMERON
My story: In May my computer screen went all weird, pink steaks and red marks, it was bad. Someone I knew said it was the LCD screen. I trusted them and ALMOST bought 400$ worth of new screen and cables. My gut told me to look for a second opinion. I googled LCD repair in San Diego and SD laptops was the first thing that popped up. I was thinking that I would pay hundreds, but the flat fee of 190$ for LCD really perked up my day.
I made an appointment and Cameron looked at it and guess what, IT WASN'T THE SCREEN! One of my cables was bad and he said he could replace it for WAY WAY less than geek squad or easy tech. When the shipment took a long time I got some dollars knocked off because of the wait. My computer screen was stellar when I got it back.
AND THEN
I opened my computer and tried to type a document and some of the keys wouldn't work. I thought this was weird since my problem had nothing to do with the keyboard. I called Cameron up and asked about it, he took nearly an hour out of his day to guide me through reseating my keyboard for free and now it works perfectly.
SD laptops is the way to go. Friendly, knowledgeable, and polite. Cameron cares about his customers and won't fix your computer with a part that will stop working in a few days (ahem like like some other big companies).
5 stars, I am telling everyone I know about this company! -

In a world where your computer can shut down your life if it's not working in the morning Cameron at SD Laptops will get you going.
Super fast turnaround, reasonable prices, and this guy is the most honest computer guy I have ever met. He fixed my piece of crap laptop 3 times over a two year period and would always warrenty his work.
Then when it was time for me to suck it up and buy a new one he helped me with my purchase, sold my old computer and installed everything I needed for free based on his warrenty.
Highly recommended will never use anyone else:) -

I thought I had a virus on my Compaq PC so I took it in to be repaired. Cameron was really helpful. I dropped it off on friday and was hoping to have it repaired by monday. Unfortunately there were other repairs ahead of mine. So I got a call back on Wednesday. The problem wasn't a virus, but a faulty motherboard. They gave me a quote; but recommended that instead of spending close to $300 on fixing an old computer, I should invest on a new PC or laptop. I picked up my Compaq PC on Thurs morning and wasn't charged the $89 labor fee since my PC wasn't fixed. Strongly recommended giving these guys a try!
