I went here on Wendsday for $1 drinks. I'm not a person that care's to much about the environment when I'm at a club. But this place has taken a dive for the worst. I understand for a dollar a drink you can't expect much, but this place is ridiculous.
First my friend was threatened by the bouncer over him bringing a drink on the dance floor. My friends not a trouble maker and apoligized right away and still the bouncer made threats to the point I had to step in and talk to the bouncer to calm the situation down. I guess everyone has a bad day, whatever.
Second my friend tried to dance with a girl and she said " If you wanna dance it's $30 dollars...? She then pointed at two lil wayne looking black guys behind me informing us to pay them. WTF..? Then I started looking at all the girls and noticed ten or so of them were hookers and they were running a prostitution ring from inside the club. Very unpleasant.
I'm always down for $1 drinks and my tab was only $20 for the three of us. I've been here before and it was a decent place to go to for a wensdays. But after this I won't be going back unless I hear its back to normal.
Scruples. How fitting is that name? The only night worth going to this bar/club is Wednesday for their $1 drink special but don't go here (or anywhere else in Waikiki) until after 11:30. My friend and I got in, forgot the time difference and meandered into the bar at about 8:30. Not only were we the only girls in the whole bar but here was 3 clusters of old men staring at us the whole time. Luckily the bartender was nice and gave us good advice and told us where else to go. We never paid cover but I think there might be on the weekends; open until 8pm to 4 am most nights.
LATER there were lots of people, tourists, locals, and the many locals trying to hit on tourists. Go with a friend, have a good time but be wary of shady locals that try to follow you home... There's a dance floor complete with lighted squares on the floor and a mirrored ceiling.
Tried to give Scruples a chance on some other nights... wouldn't do it. Unless you're the bikini contest kind of gal, in that case go on Thursday. We saw three girls and I think all of them walked away with some cash - one girl told me she came almost every week. Classy. Of course there were about ten guys watching and that was it.
This place sucks!
Could someone tell me when and if it is ever crowded? I have randomly found myself here 4 times and every time it was crappy. Also, it is so dark and it feels dirty.
The music isn't great and the seating is inconvenient.
I would never go here if it were up to me, but sometimes my bartender friend works there so I visit...
Scruples...more like Pooples. After leaving the Yardhouse I begin to wonder Kuhio street with a bunch of people. Our group was doomed from the start. A couple of us were wearing slippers and one person was only 20. After a couple feeble attempts to get into other clubs we ended up at Scruples.
When I first walked in there the smell hit me. I was confused for a second and thought I might have wondered into the clubs bathroom. After checking with he rest of the group to make sure I wasn't crazy i knew the club had a bad sewer problem. The crowd there made the scene even worse. After about 10 minutes we made a run for it.
Never again.
I had fun when I went, but I'm almost ashamed to say I did. I managed to meet some cool people and it saved the night. This whole section of Kuhio is cursed with trashy venues frequented by tourists and military, who just want to get wasted and try to get laid. They definitely succeed in the first.
