Dark, sticky, sweating Guinness smelling air. Lots of wood and what appeared to be a lot of regulars sitting at the bar and drinking. Rugby was on the tube. Grabbed a table with three others. Dressed in a long formal black dress, I was definitely out of place. The server/bartnder came off as rude but as he continued I could tell he was being sarcastic and just giving us hell. The guys had Guinness thick enough to chew, and I had a whiskey with a dash of coke. 3 drinks = $15. I actually loved that there was like this Irish punk being thrown from the speakers.

It's an Irish bar, don't come in here looking for a martini bar.

Scruffy Murphy's decline continues. The almost nonexistent service now has a snarly attitude. They have almost completely dropped the menu and it appears that the patrons have learned not to order the food. I could seriously walk to any of the surrounding beverage emporiums and get a drink more quickly than I can by waiting at the bar. In a bizarre turn, the other night, the waitress actually took my drink order while I sat at my table. I was brought down to earth pretty quick, though, when she never bothered to fill my order.

If I kept going there (which I won't and it is a shame because Patrick of GWD pub quiz is an upper echelon quiz master) I think I'd be down to one star pretty dang soon.

Oh Scruffy Murphy's, how you have changed.

Back in the day, I LOVED coming here.  The crowd was a little older, a little less... well... less like it is now.  Some crazy traditional Irish music...  It used to feel like a real Irish bar, now, a little less so.

While the drinks are always spot on, and the bartenders are champs, I can't say I stop by too much any more.

I'm glad they are doing good business though.

I went to Scruffy Murphy's last night for the first time in awhile and was delighted to see that their expansion to take over the unit next door did not dampen the cozy, authentic atmosphere of the place. It was cold out last night, but warm and welcoming inside the bar. My girlfriend had a scratchy throat so she ordered a Hot Toddy (which we were denied across the street at the Gin Mill... hence going over to Scruffy Murphy's) so I decided to join in and find out what the Hot Toddy was all about. It was delish - and when we ordered a second round the bartender happily complied with the request to make it "extra hot." My husband and my friend's husband enjoyed a few beers, and we were a happy foursome.

Last night's experience aside, I have had multiple happy adventures to Scruffy Murphy's and will return again soon!

This is a great bar, dark and stuffy just like a good Irish bar should be. Great beer on tap, awesome staff and not bad food. Great place to stop in at when you are downtown. I always find a place to sit and the bar is never that loud that you cannot talk to your friends without screaming at them

Place is really crowded and I waited forever in the cold to get in. I wasn't impressed. It's not a bad place... if you are a 40 something divorcee trying to find a hookup.

Scruffy Murphy's feels part authentic Irish pub and part theme restaurant.  They are at their best during the week when you can find a crowd of regulars, impromptu gatherings of Irish musicians, and the Thursday night pub trivia event. The bar takes on much more of the feel of the rest of the LoDo spots (The Gin Mill, LoDo's, Tavern, etc.) on the weekends. The service is always good and the bartenders are excellent at keeping drinks full without pestering patrons all the time.

Scruffy's is by far my favorite establishment in Denver. The bartenders are great and remember what they served you on your birthday 5 monthes ago... which is kinda scarey.  It dark and homey, the way that an Irish bar should be. Skip the rest of the other "Irish Bars" in Denver, there is only one and that's Scruffy's!

Love it!

Even though we got in line at 5am for Kegs and Eggs @ LoDo's, we still couldn't get in. As the frustration mounted, we got handed flyers for Scruffy Murphy's where they had free breakfast and free beer as almost a consolation prize for us freezing folks.

The place is set up a little strangely, but has a nice flow from door to bar to one of two rooms or the patio. The single stall bathrooms caused a problem with all the early morning drunks, but the extra portas in the back helped.

Headed back here on a Saturday night after yet another diappointment at the Tavern (which resulted in yet another beer soaked shirt). Grabbed a booth, the waitress swooped in with a couple of beers, the music sucked (some live irish band) but overall it was a nice place to be.

On a Friday night after the Rockies Game, I just wanted a cozy bar to enjoy with my friends.  I found it on Larimer.  Scruffy Murphy's has your typical Irish Bar feel and the typical Irish Bar drink selection, along with some live music.

We couldn't find a table inside, and since we had all dressed warmly for the early-May baseball game, we headed for the "Beer Garden" which is better known as a back patio.  We were the only ones on the patio besides the occasional smoker, and that's the way we liked it.  I'd definitely go back to Scruffy's, it's an extremely chill bar.

A nice little added perk is the booth to the left when you first enter the bar.  It has a door, to allow the people inside some privacy, yet it also has its own access to the bar.  I'm not sure if you have to reserve it or if it's first-come, first-served or what, but it's neat!

I just went back to Scruffy's on a pub crawl, what a great time. I was able to drink a couple of Guinnesses after visiting The Celtic Tavern (Murphy's products only).... It's a shame we didn't stick around longer, this place is like an Irish version of Cheers.

I don't like it.  I've never had a "bad" time necessarily but I've never had a great time here either.  The service is always shotty and random music just isn't my cup of tea.  I'll always prefer the Ginn Mill....

No Guinness on tap?  What's going on with that?  It's not an Irish pub without Guinness...at least according to a friend of mine who's a veteren drinker.  This is a really cool local Irish pub full of local college kids and Rockies fans alike.  There's a ton of seating/tables and even a little place to sit outside.  I ordered two drinks which came to about $8.  Not bad for two pint glasses full of drinks.  The staff seemed friendly enough.  The live acoustic act played some Decemberist covers.  Yay!  If I were a local, I'd probably go here often.

With snow on the ground, a nice little haven to escape the cold and wind. Located near Coors Field, this cozy  bar was the right choice to belly up to and wallow away a couple of hours. Friendly staff, generous pours and decent bar food helped melt the memories of winter just outside the door. If business travels call for a Denver summer trip, would definitely check this place out again after a Rockies game.

Great new Irish pub in LoDo, just a tiny bit off the beaten path.  Nice place, just a bit small (not unlike the real thing in Ireland), one of the owners is Irish (and therefore it's the proper atmosphere).  Sunday night bartender Craig has long been a fixture on the Denver club scene, so yes, you know him from The Church, most probably.   Irish music on Sunday nights with the Last Night's Fun gang.

Small little pub with a great atmosphere.  Live Band on Saturday Night's playing Irish folk songs.  My favorite on one they played is called Alice.  The band loves tips in the form of Irish Car bombs.  Nice friendly staff.  They even cooked food for me an hour after the kitchen closed.
