Good service with a nice ambiance. The food was fine but "predictable".
Seems to have a busy bar. Cougar alert...
It WAS my plan to eat light at Scott's, especially since I hadn't been in years and wasn't sure if the food was that good anymore. What actually happened was this:
I took a chance on the crab and macadamia nut stuffed sole. It was so delicious I inhaled the whole thing, green beans included. Stuffed my face with garlic focaccia bread, and then devoured a very large dish of creme brulee.
My dinner mate and I left that restaurant with the largest bellies and some serious bewilderment that a restaurant near Mountlake Terrace could be almost as good as Palisades. I make the comparison because the company who owns them also owns Palisades and several others - they trade out menu items.
The reason I have avoided stopping in is this - the exterior and interior of this joint is so ridiculously out of date and run down. It's akin to Wendy's. The brand and logo also need a serious do over - they fooled me by what's on the outside so I made a lot of assumptions. And you know what? I am sure many others have done the same. If that restaurant had a remodel, I think RUI would find business would boom (you're the only good restaurant in that area).
I've been here a few times and it's always been a pleasant experience. I think truly this is might be a 3-star restaurant but I dunno, something just makes me bump it to a 4.
They've got a really diverse menu - it's always hard to figure out what to eat because everything sounds good. I've had the halibut cheeks here (pretty good, not spectacular), I had the spicy fettuccine which was ok - all the salads here are awesome. The wine list is good, though I wish they included one or two more "expensive" wines by the glass for those who don't want to order a whole bottle.
All in all, pretty good food - little spendy, but the menu seems really solid.
My boyfriend, his family, and myself went to Scott's for their late night happy hour. We didn't have any cocktails but we did enjoy lot's of tasty half price appetizers.
What I liked was everything was a good portion. If you wanted to order chicken wings as a meal you of course could. The crab and artichoke dip was awesome and the pot stickers were delicious. This is for sure a great place for happy hour.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Scotts! It can get pretty busy at times but its well worth the wait. My favorites would have to be their mojitos they are always fresh and yummy oh and during happy hour they are only four dollars :) Also their fish tacos are pretty much to die for....if you like fish tacos scotts are a must! GO!
I've only been here once, but my partner's family has been going for a while. The bread is good, which is always a good sign. I had trouble deciding what to order, since half the menu sounded good. I finally got to taste the pea salad -- it was pretty good but mayonnaise salads are not really my thing. I had a crab and artichoke sandwich which was good, and I had leftovers. The service was a little slow considering the place was basically empty (it was early on a weeknight) but it wasn't really a problem. If I go back I would like to try their cocktails.
My boyfriend and I have been to Scott's twice and we absolutely loved it! The first time I had the French Onion soup which is probably the best French Onion soup I've ever had (I'm practically drooling just thinking about it) and we also had the Burnt Creme which was to die for! It's a little bit on the pricier side but I feel like it's well worth it. I went last night and had the French Dip which was an awesome dish!
I have been a patron of Scott's for several years, and have always found them to have very tasty food and drinks, and quite possibly the best happy hour in the Shoreline/Edmonds area.
A year ago, I would have given Scott's at least 4 stars. However, I find it unfortunate that they have changed their menu now that this restaurant and Stanford's restaurant are owned by the same company. Somehow, the combination of the two has caused Scott's to lose its charm and seem so much more "chain-like"... I liked the old Scott's menu MUCH better.
That aside, you can always count on the food to be wonderfully prepared, inside an open kitchen area that is viewable from the dining room.
The atmosphere is definitely in need of updates. The green and red decor make me think it's Christmas.
Get there early for happy hour, as this place gets packed. You won't be disappointed with anything on their appetizer list - Coconut Prawns, Quesadilla, Crab and Artichoke Dip, and Maytag Salad are all top notch.
Prices are all over the board, from $10 sandwiches to $30 Steaks and Seafood.
Been here a few times hoping the food quantity would be better. Nope, never did improve considering the price and the tiny side dishes of veggies you get with your entree. Prime rib dish is great, but not happy with sides for the $. I would commercially compare the place to The Keg in quality, but definitely not The Outback (low grade). Like I said, great cut of prime rib... just wish they had more bang for the buck on the veggies.
Overall, I personally think this place is over-rated by it's loyal customer base of golfers and stay at home moms who have money to spend on 'a night out with the girls'.
We've been going to Scott's since Nordstrom's and Fredrick and Nelson were across the street (now Costco and Home Depot). We've always enjoyed it. All restaurants have ups and downs but this has been very consistent over the years. The management has always employed a caring and service oriented staff. We've dined there in various attire and with and without children and have had consistent service and good fare.
I really like going there for cocktails and their teriaki beef with ginger can't be beat for an appetizer.
Their drinks are generous and their staff is attentive.
Give them a shot. There's nothing in the area to match it. I'm pleased they survived the loss of Aurora Village demise. I also like their sister restaurant the Palomino in the US Bank Center on 6th and Union.
Use to love it n. Not sooo much anymore . Went to dinner lst night . Bad service & they were not even busy. the food was awfull . took a birthday party . No free cake or even a scoop0 of icecream . Not SO GREAT ANYMOR .

Scott's is located in Edmonds/Shoreline and is a great local restaurant. I would describe the food as Pacific Northwest Comfort food. They have a great 3:30-5:30 happy hour that's a must to try. Order the Teriyaki beef tid bits on a sushi rice with pickled ginger. They are so flippin tender and good! Also the "Tipsy Clams" are quite tasty.
I am one of those people who think any good restaurant should serve some type of bread as soon as the customer sits down. Scott's is unique as they served warm garlic butter brushed rosemary focaccia bread. The focaccia bread always puts me in a good mood as does the peachy flavored unsweetened iced tea that I always get.
A definite standby dish of mine is their Bacon wrapped meatloaf. It's served with a mushroom cream sauce, mashed potatoes, and braised sweet and sour red cabbage with bacon pieces. It is so good. The roasted chicken breast dijon also is a solid dish.
For seafood I recommend any salmon dish they have, it's always fresh and delicious. The crab cakes are really delicious as well. Not the largest, but well seasoned and panko crusted. The best part about them is the sweet and sour and a buerre blanc sauces that are served with it.
For desserts, their creme brulee and key lime pie are both equally fabulous.
The downside to Scott's is the ambiance. Its decor is just plain ugly, but ugly but in a homey type of way. Scott's also gets busy and sometimes there is sometimes a wait. However, the food is consistently delicious and the waitstaff are always really great.
Hair in my food!!! Yikes!
I ordered burger sliders, and when I lifted up the top bun, there was hair in it!
So disgusting!
They apologized and replaced it with one without the hair, but how could one be sure that they did not just removed the hair and served the same food back to the patron?
Any comments?
In addition, Scott's is pricey, too.
And now, everytime I think about Scott's, I think about the hair in their food (Yikes!)
I have often visited Scott's to meet up with old co-workers. I should mention that we continue to go there at my dining companions' request, and not mine. After today's visit, however, I don't think they will mind if we choose a different dining location
The food is decent, and they have a special lunch menu that includes an entree, side salad, and drink for $12 which isn't that bad.
After eating and settling the bill, we lingered to chat for a bit when we heard a distinctive squeal from one our fellow restaurant patrons at the neighboring table. Hmmm, maybe they are squealing with delight from their meal? After recalling the food that I had just eaten, I highly doubted that and was deep in thought about what could cause the outburst when I saw the object of the excitement scurry across the floor and under our table. Oh yes, it was a rat. A big, fat, hairless tailed, rat. Under our table. As the squealing traveled from table to table, pandemonium erupted. Finally the chef saunters up with a big white table cloth and proceeds to try and catch the equally terrified rat. Yeah, uh, time to go. We gathered up our things, shook them out to make sure the rat didn't try and stow away in our purses or jackets, and made for the exit.
Though we received an apology from the restaurant staff, we were not offered any sort of compensation. Granted, we had already paid, but I think a generous gift card might have been in order. Nope, nothing.
I gave an extra star for the entertainment value that this story will provide me and my friends for the next few days.
Pricey, mediocre food, bad service. Menu is very hodge podge-Fish tacos, mac n' cheese, steak, deli sandwiches, seafood and an extensive wine menu.
Whenever faced with a hodge podge menu, I go for fish tacos. My fish was over cooked. The guacamole was really good, fresh made and had pieces of avocado in it. There was a rice pilaf on the side, and the flavors did not match the tacos. Two of the ladies I was with ordered salads, one steak and one chicken. Neither seemed pleased. The birthday girl ordered dijon chicken and seemed to really enjoy it. They had a crab dip as an appetizer (which I did not eat), but they didn't finish it and didn't seem too impressed with it.
I ordered the bday girl an amaretto sour, which she said she liked. She also seemed to enjoy her mai tai. I don't do sugary cocktails myself , but the other girls seemed to like them, so perhaps a plus there.
Service was not good. Slow with taking orders, bringing drinks, and did not check on us. The check was really late. I mean, really late.
I think a previous reviewer described decor best by calling it reminiscent of the Polo Room and the Beverly Hills Hotel.
And a last comment. I came here a while ago with my family for brunch and had the best french toast with vanilla custard, ever, hands down. I've tried to recreate this at home without success. So I am adding a star for that. But over all, I live in Seattle and WOULD NOT drive to Edmonds to eat here. No, no, no.
The have a good Bacon Mac and cheese that really fills you up and tastes very good, and that's the thing that keeps me from giving it two stars rather then three. The service is average at best and the drinks are down right poor. They use sour mix for their Mojitos and I don't think they even put whiskey in the whiskey sour. Our fries came out stone cold, but they replaced they quickly so I can't fault them for that.
The decor is OK but nothing really stands out. It can get real busy especially for lunch.
Scott's is another Edmonds establishment that has been around for what seems to be FOREVER. This is a place where I meet up for happy hour with my GF's when in town. We nosh on appetizers while enjoying a delightful selection of regional wines. I've enjoyed meals here a ton of times over the years too...there just isn't anything super fancy or exciting about Scotts....
Honestly, Scott's is just a 'tried and true' fav. Kind of a "no brainer" when your hungry but want to dine somewhere a little more upscale than some of the chain establishments. The food is good but nothing exceptional by any means; I suppose I could say the same for the ambiance. I have always loved their chicken dijon or grilled salmon entrees...they have great salads too.
I haven't been here since a couple nights before my wedding in the fall of 2006, so I couldn't tell you what it was I ordered. But I will say that we had really great service and there was about 15 of us women who were ready for some food and drink!
I gave it four stars for being a trusty source for consistent food over the years...if they would update the ambiance and menu to something more OUTSTANDING...I'd offer five stars in my review.
I went here because it is an RUI restaurant in the north end and I like a lot of RUI's restaurants. Its a cavernous place with a large bar area. I had brunch there with the cousin. We split the corned beef hash and biscuits and gravy. The corned beef hash was very greasy and the biscuits had sliced sausages instead of ground and there was a lack of gravy. The potatoes were deep fried and dusted with parm cheese. The food tasted okay but the booths would jerk me forward every time someone sat down at the next booth and the place seemed a little run down. Another hope dashed for a really good place to eat north of Seattle that isn't ethnic food.
p.s. The server was very nice even though service wasn't great. Nice goes a long way in my book.
I love this place. GREAT Mac 'n Cheese. Awesome cocktails, lots to choose from. wonderful mimosas and yummy breakfast (though small breakfast menu) Great for holidays. Social staff.
Never again.
I"ve probably eaten at Scott's 20 times over the last few years. It always seemed harmless enough: mediocre food, a bit overpriced, but a convenient location with lots of parking.
Today was the last straw, however. The waitress overcharged us, then blamed it on the computer. The crab/artichoke sandwich was not edible: greasy and salty. My friend's turkey dip san was inedible, also. The waitress should have gotten a hint when she picked up our plates and saw most of the food remaining on them, mine sitting in a pool of greasy cheese. My Caesar salad was limp enough that they should have been embrassed enough not to serve it. I could go on....
We each tried one of their "tiny sundaes" for dessert. I finished mine, because I was hungry. The waitress noted proudly that Scott's makes its own chocolate syrup. I could have sworn that it was Hershey's.
As I said, I could go on and on.
It was my last visit to Scott's.
This restaurant is part of a larger chain which owns Cutters at the Pike Place market, I luv that restaurant, unfortunately this location has too many ups and downs for me. They do have the "famous" pea salad, which if you luv peas like I do, it's not to be missed.
Dinner is usually solid, service is good if not top end, lunch has been okay food-wise but the worst has to be the Sunday Brunch! Service was fine but the food was down right sad! In a party of 8 maybe two of the meals even looked decent. I mean how does a kitchen produce a lousy breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, and fried potatoes!! The plate was huge but the portions looked like it was made for a child, and this was in the middle of the height of brunch service, so it wasn't like we were coming in too late.
Over the years I have tried to like this place, my wife loves the Chicken Dijon, but I have yet to find something that really makes me want to go back time and time again. If you have to go for dinner, and make sure to pass on the brunch!
The appetizers were the best thing here. I found the seafood deviled eggs to be fair, but the Maytag salad was delicious. The ciabatta bread they provide is yummy too.
The entrees were considered small by my dining companions and I. The rosemary pork was tasty, but a little on the dry side. My fried chicken was also dry, and less then memorable. The mashed potatoes that accompanied got better reviews then the dinners.
On our way out, the waitress had to flag us down, and told us she had accidentally added 30 dollars to our tab that wasn't ours. Yikes.
A little too expensive for the lack of quality. Most dinners are $20-30
Every once in awhile I get the "a bunch of us are meeting at Scott's for appetizers, you down?" call.
Having never eaten a real meal there I have to say everything I ordered is pretty good, they do good appetizers and I did get the Mac 'n Cheese with the nice crunchy topping. MMM.....greasy...mmmm goood.
Our family of 6 adults went to Scott's for the Early Bird dinner at 5:30 last night. It wasn't too busy, but then we had reservations. The menu was varied and we all found something we wanted. I had the scallops and mashed potatoes....LOVED the caramelized onions and skinny asparagus pieces on the potatoes. The scallops were thinner than I'd thought, but tasty. Pop had the prime rib, which was a huge piece and looked tasty. The sons had chicken fettuccine, and each took home a doggie bag. The first course was salads, and they were very crisp and tasty. By dessert, we were kinda full but since it came with the meal, we indulged. The burnt cream was just too sweet, so I scraped off the glaze and enjoyed the "pudding". The pear sorbet was to die for. The ice cream sundae was what it was. Our server was bright and attentive...couldn't have asked for finer. The meals were attractive in presentation. I'd go back again in a minute!
Well what can I say. They tolerated local theater groups for years because.... well, we drink. And we tip well. It's a tradition for a cast of local community theaters to head to Scott's after a gruling two hour performance. Sure, we might be loud and sing off-key Broadway tunes, and tell way too many inside jokes ...and you might as well not come see our shows since we practically quote the d#&Mn thing every chance we get. No! Wait, I mean DO come see our shows!
But enough about me ...I mean, us! The fine folk at Scott's (at least in the bar, and it's like the same 5 people for the past 10 years) have been serving up great drinks and appetizers*, just the thing after seeing some wonderful live local theater (wink wink! nudge nudge!)
*In all seriousness, the drinks could be a bit stronger. My rum n cokes usually come out watery in a teeny tiny class. Martini's are ok if not a bit pricey for mid-range ingredients. Appetizers are def their strong point.
I love this place! Their annual halibut season is my favorite time of the year... especially when they have their signature parmesan encrusted cheeks.
Scott has inspired me in my own cooking... I started to cook fish with parmesan cheese. Whoda thunk!
And the SERVICE! Phenomenal... if the wait is too long, the manager comes out and make sure you're not gnawing your thumb off by giving you an appetizer. They always try to make sure you leave happy, and THAT is what keeps me going back.
Our all-around favorite for good food and relaxed atmosphere. Great salads, seafood and even has meatloaf. Watch them cook. Looks like just a bar from outside and has a very nice bar inside, but also a big restaurant. Make reservations for Friday or Saturday night, it gets busy. Good setting for a large group - we had at least 20 people for a pre-wedding dinner. The staff are very helpful. Located right off 205th near Aurora Village Costco.
I just had lunch here for the first time today and it was quite good. I had the Dijon chicken--it was crusted with panko so it was super crunchy and light. I like that they offer a smaller sized portion for lunch--it was just right. My husband was in need of comfort food and had their mac and cheese. It tasted amazingly good, but I don't think repeated servings would be good for the arteries.
The menu seemed varied enough so that there could be something for everyone if you go with a group. It seemed a bit pricey, but I'm just coming off a trip to Vermont where food is wicked cheap, so my eye for pricing is momentarily skewed.
I'd try this place again...hopefully it will be as good as it was today.
I have been to Scotts on a few occasions, once for lunch and a few times for drinks in the bar!
I think the bar is a really great spot. I went there for a business meeting where we were able to talk in reasonable voices and were still able to hear each other. We also had excellent service in the bar, and my Cosmo was divine!!
My lunch experience was wonderful. I went with my Mother, my Aunt and my Grandma, who is 87 years old and almost unable to walk. They cleared the aisleway for us to walk with her to our table and were very, very hospitable to us. They were patient with her and made sure everything was done to her liking - which made all of us happy. The food was excellent - most memorable was the bleu cheese salads and the grilled mahi-mahi that I had.
I *hear* their Sunday Brunch is fantastic....
If you are a fan of overly-priced, overly-spiced mediocre food, then Scotts must be your favorite spot. I have been here on a few occaisions for brunch and dinner, and i was not impressed both times. The food was not as flavorful or satisfying for what i payed for! That always pisses me off. I want to at least feel like i am getting my money's worth out of anything i buy. I could make better food at home. The ambiance seems cramped because they like to clump customers together and leave massive amounts of empty tables. And the waitstaff is totally FAKE and phony. They are trying WAY too hard for tips (for a reason) because the food isnt great. The only think ive had from here that was tasty was a lobster bisque, which was like a tomato soup with lobster flavoring. Should call it tomato lobster instead of bisque, but it did have decent flavor.
Yum! I really love this place! I have gone here since I was little with my grandparents. I have my own personal favorites from their menu, and it's kind of routine that I order them from the menu every time I go here. So I'l let you in on my favorites, but I highly recommend trying anything, because they do have a fantastic menu! I typically order for starters their Blue Cheese Maytag Salad, or their French Onion Soup (fantastic), always have to have their bread sticks, smothered in garlic butter. And for my main course, I get the Big Chicken Mamou, a spicy Chicken Fettucini, that is just to die for!
Dirt. It's an album I love, but it's not a taste I like. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Last night, we went out to Scott's for food... We were really hungry after all because dropping all of my belongings and furniture out of a second floor window to the sidewalk takes a lot of work (I was moving). So we went, and the first thing I noticed was that the decor was that of a retirement home, and the majority of the crowd was too. So behind us was a table full of old people, and to our side was a table with a couple who prayed before eating... So there's your crowd. We got our menu, and a second menu of specials, and a third piece of propganda. Awesome. A paper sheet to draw on with crayons? Where am I. This place kept going faster and faster towards lame. The menu, was nice. Lots of yummy looking food. I went with this salad where the spinach tasted dirty, and by dirty I mean not washed. My candied pecans were not candied. There were hardly any pear slices, and my bleu cheese? Was this huge ball of deep fried blue cheese. Nasty. One friend had a fried pickle with his dish, I LOVE Fried Pickle, too but they screwed up and threw a pickle slice in the fryer and deep fried it without slicing it up. Chumps. My other friend, her fish was undercooked, which they said is the way they do it (as well as with their pork). God I hate this place. It gives cool Scotts like Baio a bad name
I would only go to Scotts for happy hour. They are owned by the same restaurant company that owns Cutters, which I really like, but the only good thing at Scott's is $2.99 Guinness at happy hour and the heaping basket of garlic fries for $2. If you live north and don't want to drive to Seattle for happy house, I would go here. The menu sounds better than it tastes and careful with the servers. Some need to find a new occupation. I do like their maple chicken salad too :)
this place has been a 4 star previously but they truly lack consistancy although the prime rib is always good everything else is a gamble the pea salad is a must but last time it had so much bacon i couldnt taste the peas the service has been good and bad the temperature has been good then unbearable but the blue hairs dont mind the most disapointed i was was the halibut cheeks were like jerky i probably will go back eventually not because of the cheap ass e-mail coupons but because of the great experiences i have had in the past
Scott's isn't truly a "bar and grill". Its a restaurant and one you feel like you can't show up in shorts and a tank top. Typical Pacific Northwest cuisine and a breakfast buffet on weekends won't disappoint you but it isn't enough to draw a person back on a frequent basis.
I have friends who go here all the time and rave about it. I went and just checked it out the other nite and had a beer. Great spot, lively bar, huge menu and great drink list. Nice atmosphere goin too...I'll be back to eat soon!!
