Scottadito was a shining star in the Brooklyn vacation of two Manhattanites.  We lamented how we don't have places like this in the city-- certainly not at these affordable prices.
Sensitive to diary restrictions and special needs, the service was friendly and kind.  The atmosphere was at once quaint and sophisticated, and could easily become the favorite neighborhood regular haunt for a good meal.  The couple next to us dined in a suit and pearls and fit right in-- but so did we in our jeans and sweatshirts.
The house red was delicious as was the artichoke shrimp appetizer special.   A little heavy on the oil, but the "light fry" was in fact light.  My dining companion finished both his mesculin salad and his chicken caccatore completely loving every bite of them.  I took most of my stuffed pork chop entree home-- delicious but so much food.
We hope to try it another day for brunch.

I really enjoyed a recent dinner at Scottadito. The atmosphere is lovely -- the high ceilings and larger-than-average tables create a roomy feel that is so rare in NYC restaurants, yet the candles and fireplace help this restaurant maintain its coziness.

Wine by the glass was $5-8 which seemed quite reasonable to me. The bread is nothing special but we all loved our entrees. I would especially recommend the Eggplant Terrine Parmagiana and the Salmon Scottadito.

Pasta dishes are in the $14-16 range and entrees between $16-24. This is a bit more than I might typically spend for an average night out, but the quality is excellent, as is the service. Great place for a date or a nice night out.

Great value for decent food!  Try and get full (I mean, not just pasta full) in the $20-30 price range out in New York. The back room, complete with a fire place oven (I don't know what to call it, but you know those ones you plug in), was pleasantly full but roomy for a Friday night. Walked right in and got a seat just before 9. Menu had lots of great sides, specials, salads, mains and pastas.

Skip the bread but really and truly get the eggplant parmasean. This must be the grown-up Park Slope version--organic breadcrumbs, fresher than fresh parmasean, tons of beautifully and thinly sliced eggplant, perfectly seasoned. So good for anyone looking for a low-key dinner on a budge. Portions are great (shareable or take home for another meal). I would definitely come back when I happen to be in this hood again.

Awesome! Beautiful restaurant with such a friendly staff-- even though we were just there for boozy brunch with endless mimosas, they treated us with complete warmth.

Food was super tasty and portions were really generous! We had to beg them to stop pouring mimosas and all in all a glorious way to spend a few hours on a lazy weekend morning. I love my 'hood.

One of my friends who lived in Park Slope first told me about this place. Now, she is very selective of what she eats, and almost exclusively eats healthy and organic. She told me about how this place had great, fresh, tasty organic food, unlike any other Northern Italian restaurant you will find.
Well, I finally checked it out and let me say the food was absolutely fantastic. Everything is fresh, organic and simply tastes marvelous. You can reserve the wine cellar for large parties (just dont have any wine-aholics in the party since they might be tempted to open the bottles).
The decor is of the upscale trendy Manhattan restaurants but is not pretentious. The staff is friendly and caters to your needs.

YUM! I had brunch here with friends on a perfect fall sunday.  We snagged a table outside and enjoyed delicious fritattas, coffee and unlimited mimosas and our host/waitress was the BEST.

I'll have to come back for dinner.

I wanted to like Scottadito.  We went on a Saturday night and they were clearly very, very understaffed. We (and a number of other tables, from what we could tell) waited about 15 minutes before we even got water.  Once our waiter finally came and we ordered, it was about 45 minutes before our food came.  My salmon was decent, but my date's pasta was only so-so. The bread and olive oil were not very good at all (if you're going to do focaccia, it should be very fresh and the oil should be stellar).  They also brought the wrong wine the first time. The atmosphere is a bit cheesy.

We may have just hit them on a bad night, but the wait was really, really bad and unfortunately the food wasn't worth it.  The staff was sympathetic but not terribly professional.

Went here for the $15 brunch on Sunday.  Food was excellent.  There is a wide variety of choices including pasta.  I had the gnocchetti which had spinach infused in it so it was lighter that regular gnocchi.  Service was great too.

I was excited to try this place for dinner. We walked in and stood at the entrance for about 7 minutes without being acknowledged by any of the staff. The hostess walked by us twice and ignored us though we were trying to get her attention. Several of the wait staff were talking by the bar and also saw us but didn't come over to seat us. The place wasn't busy at all so I'm not sure what the problem was. We eventually walked out. I don't think it should be necessary to chase down somebody to get a table. If they couldn't bother to seat us on time I can't imagine how bad the dinner service is (though the food all looked good).

I was brought here on a date.  We sat in the back, and there is a nice view of some bamboo-water fountain setup thing, which was relaxing.  Our server was informative, professional and gave off good vibes.  I ordered their salmon dish, I was surprised at how fresh everything tasted, especially the veggies.  My date ordered some pork chop dish, and he was satisfied as well.  The carafes of wine are very reasonable.  The check for the two of us was about $90, and given the service and food, I think it was worth it.

This place is a great neighborhood restaurant with an upscale feel. the great part about it is that an entire glass wall in the back dining room looks out into a garden. so you get to view a lot of gorgeous greenery.

I had the skirt steak which was cooked perfectly to my request. also, i got this funky but good beet-colored mashed potato mix. I got to try my friend's gnocchi, which was, as all gnocchi's are, finger-lickin good.

the service was ok. one complaint of my friends was that the gnocchi wasn't warm. so when they asked the server to reheat it, he brought it back half a degree warmer. also i presented a bday cake for my buddy and the server didn't bring out plates and utensils until i flagged him down 10 minutes after.

This is our favorite restaurant.  The chef/owner is an Italian expat/Brooklynite and very cool, who trained at the Cordon Bleu in Paris.

(Umm... to those people on this list who gave it one star, maybe food to which one doesn't add condiments just isn't your thing. and that's OK. This is not one of those "restaurants" in the American sense, where you eat as much as you can stuff into your gaping maw and then waddle out to your car sucking the remains of your Coke through a straw.)

It's real European cuisine ie the quality is impeccable. And that includes service, presentation and value.

this is a hidden gem in brooklyn!

i went a few weeks ago for brunch on a saturday and it was not crowded at all. this kind of worried me. but halfway through my food, i was more shocked than worried because my dish was so awesome!

i feel in love with gnocchi here. i am now a gnocchi fiend and i will never look back. i also love the unlimited mimosas-- well, just plain champagne for me because i don't dig orange juice and it doesn't dig me.

decor is cool everything is neat and clean. love the little bamboo garden thing they have going on in the back!

Really great brunch spot. Very quaint and intimate, without being cloyingly romantic. Great for a date or brunch out with your girlfriends. You got a great portioned meal for a really reasonable price. The fare was light, tasty, and really fresh. The service was impeccable and they were very accommodating for our large group. The waitress was extremely attentive, but we never felt rushed - in fact, we were there for at least 3 hours.

The day that I went the restaurant was only lightly populated. Will definitely go again.

I've been here a few times now, mostly for brunch.

The interior is warm and rustic (not that I care, but if you're into that, I guess it's a plus) and there's a large glass-walled extension in the back that gets a lot of sun during the day.

They have a $15 brunch special. Unlimited mimosas, champagne, and coffee (copious alcohol is the clincher for me).

Generally, I go for the pasta dishes. The Tagliatelle al Brie, Arugula, e Speck is really, really good, if you can handle heavy and rich  sauces in the morning. The Bucatini alla Matriciana is also quite tasty.

This place definitely earns a spot on my short-list for brunch.

I had dinner here about a year ago, so honestly I can't recall what I had or if it's even still on their menu. However, I do remember that I really liked pretty much everything. I'll have to have dinner there again sometime soon.

The interior of the restaurant is very rustic.  Dark old wood tables, dark wood beams across the top of the bar and even a dark wood sink in the rest room with old fixtures.

Weekend brunch comes with unlimited mimosas for $14.95.  The mimosas weren't anything special, but they did keep coming.  You can ask the waitress to top off the glass with extra champagne if you want a stronger drink.

We put our orders in and in about 5 minutes everything was on the table.  Kindof shocked at how quickly everything came out.  I guess they don't want you lingering and drinking too many mimosas.

I had the Uova Fiorentine (Poached eggs on an english muffin with spinach and hollandaise sauce).  The eggs were pretty good but the hollandaise could have used a little more flavor.  Maybe it was just me, but it tasted a bit bland.   We didn't order the pancakes, but the table next to us did and they looked really good.

I was satisfied with my brunch experience and I really liked the rustic feel of the restaurant, but I'm not sure I'll hurry back out here for brunch.

After moping about Park Slope for a brunch restaurant that didn't underwhelm for a 10+ plus pricepoint...I finally found Scottadito. This is my favorite brunch place in the area and maybe even in New York, since it is not super crowded if you can believe that.

Park Slope is filled with over hyped restaurants which impress people who don't like flavor I am guessing. But Scottadito is truly yummy with a great atmosphere.

I am just thrilled about their bread and tapenade. I could overdose on that stuff. I hear their dinner is great, I can't wait to try it.

Inside feels cool and refreshing in the hot weather. I feel like I am not in Park Slope but rather in another country. The waiter was attentive. I love the unlimited champagne, mimosas and coffee. the coffee was eh. They had a special steak with poached egg underneath a bread along with a nice side a greens for twenty. It was very good. Would revisit for dinner.

I had a Saturday brunch here with a group of about eight friends. It was prix fixe for the food with all you could drink coffee and mimosas. I went halvzies with someone else so that we could have both sweet and savory. The fritata of the day was perfect and was served with potatoes and salad. The crazy-delicious french toast with nutella and caramelized bananas was heaven on a fork. The coffee was excellent. And the mimosas. Ooooohhh, the mimosas. The waiter kept bringing us pitchers of it and kept our glasses filled. I'm definitely not an alcoholic, but there is something devilishly enjoyable about being drunkish in the afternoon. We ended up spending at least 3 hours there and didn't feel the least bit rushed even long after our food had been devoured and all we had left were half-drunken cups of coffee and glasses of mimosas.

Go.

What a fantastic place! Their spinach gnocci is ridiculously good and goes great with the house red wine (Montepulciano I believe). The head chef knows what he is doing and is more than happy to tell you what wine to pair with his foods and he is always dead on.

Came here with my cousin for restaurant week. (on April 2nd)
Here's what she ordered:
Caesar salad, spinach gnocci, short ribs (Rosticciana)

Here's what I ordered:
Arugula walnut salad,  ribbon pasta in a slow roasted portobello, pan-seared salmon

And for dessert: Tiramisu

Pros:
* Portions were great, I regret eating the bread (should've left more room)
* Quiet, relaxing decor
* Great service
* They didn't skimp on taste or quality for the restaurant week pricing

Cons:
* I asked for my salmon to be medium but came out drier than expected

I've been here for both dinner and brunch.  The food was tasty each time. Brunch has a good vibe...upbeat tunes, unlimited mimosas. The food is pretty standard. Nothing that memorable though  I'd like to score a seat in the window/sidewalk area sometime. The service has always been friendly and timely.

I went here with my family for Mother's Day...and all I have to say is a mama mia, that's a some a good Italian food!  The ambiance is great (we sat out in the back by the rock garden) but outside on their front deck looks cool too, especially on a nice evening.  Portion size was perfect amount of food--not too much where you feel like you should have the nickname Fat Tony and not too little where you could be competing with the contestants of America's Next Top Model (for the record, I've never even seen that show).  Also, the prices were extremely reasonable...I had the salmon which was simple and tasty.  My cousin's eggplant parm was the bomb!  Next time I go back, I am all over it...all in all, great food, good prices and nice atmosphere...date-worthy, friend worthy and family worthy all make Scottadito a solid staple.

On a tour of various Brooklyn restaurants earlier this year, I stopped into Scottadito after falling in love with the pretzel bites at Bussaco, and fell in love with the pesto pasta they offered us hungry wanderers.

And then I promptly forgot about it.

Until my sister came to town! On a Friday after spending all day in Manhattan shopping for a new wardrobe to help me attract the women-folk (so far, modicum of success), we decided to get dressed up and find somewhere that would be accepting of two well-dressed folks.

Oh, who are we kidding, we just wanted some wine.

Wine, and good Italian food, Scottadito had. It claims to be organic, but I would have never known the difference, and I appreciate chemicals in my food just as much as the next person. The portions were just right and it took every bit of effort we had not to eat the pre-meal bread. There's a varied wine list though we stuck to the reds and the romantic atmosphere made it perfect for a date.

Which we were not on. Because we are brother and sister.

I have been to Scottadito numerous times for brunch and am shocked to see I have never written a review!!  The first time I went was actually a snowy Easter Sunday two years ago, and while it has changed over the years (and the brunch price for unlimited champagne and mimosas has gone up 3 dollars) it is still a wonderful bet for brunch!

My first trip had my sister and I in awe of the bread basket - which then came with our favorite jam from Texas!  Now the bread, while still good, is hearty and spicy and comes with a tomato dipping sauce - a big win for my recent dining companion, Miss Laura.    The omelets are decadent and creamy, the pear salad  light and refreshing, and I fell in love with the Bucatini A' Matriciana (hollow noodle pasta with pancetta, plum tomatoes and pecorino romano) - as it is a great al dente pasta with a tangy sauce and tiny pieces of almost-crispty ham.  But it having been almost a year since I've been, I suggested forgetfully that Miss Laura get the Tagliatelle Al Brie, Arugula, E Speck (thin, flat noodle pasta in melted brie with diced cured prosciutto, arugula and white truffle oil) - which turned out to also be very good - creamy, of course, but also with plenty of speck to munch on. We ordered a side of smoked salmon as well, and indulged in the always endless, always wonderful prosecco.

As this has been a favorite of mine for years, it is sad that only now can I add it to my Brooklyn list, but I am glad that I finally can :)  See you at brunch?

Went there to celebrate my engagement party with a few friends. We had a party of 12 and made reservations for 7 p.m. As it usually is with my friends, we happened to be running an hour late, so we had to call in to reschedule. The staff was very polite and did not make any fuss about it.

When we arrived, the place was packed and the atmosphere was so cozy ans warming right away. We were seated and water was poured into every glass. We ordered wine and champagne and began exploring the nicely-presented menu. Whoever said the house red wine was great, I agree. We ended up ordering three bottles and then got another one on the house.

30 minutes in, we finally placed our orders. Everyone went for pasta for the main dish plus a few appetizers. In the meantime they brought in bread with eggplant dip, which was amazing. I then used that dip for my grilled shrimp.

We got out apps after about 15-20 (already after 9p.m.) minutes and this is where they lost half a star. Everything was very salty. Half the people at our table didn't notice it, but I am very sensitive to spices and could not finish my calamari. Two people agree with me.

And then the wait began. We waited for our food for another hour, and at 10:15 we finally got our pasta! Kind of. They mixed up a few orders, but we got a free bottle of wine out of it. I was going to take another star off for the long wait, but the food was very very good. My dish was on the spicy side, but that's my fault for not asking beforehand. Everyone was hungry, so we delved into our pastas and thoroughly enjoyed it. I especially liked my fiance's order: his pasta itself tasted like portobello mushroom. Yum.

It was 10:40 when we finally decided to get some coffee to wake up from all the wine. We only ordered coffees and cappuccinos, but got 5 free desserts on top. I don't know if that's their policy for large groups, but it was definitely a very generous and delicious touch. We were all so full, that even 12 people could not finish it all.

Aside from salty apps and a very long wait, this restaurant is great. I will definitely be back there, especially since it is so very affordable for the quality of food. Our bill was a little shy of $600, which comes out as around $50 per person.

Came in yesterday for a leisurely birthday brunch, hoping to get a little buzzed first thing in the morning. Scottadito did not disappoint! My friends and I were starving and were immediately given a basket of yummy bread with a great tomato-based dipping sauce. The brunch was $15 unlimited champagne or mimosas, so we got a round, and ordered some entrees. I got the frittata of the day, which had broccoli rabe, mushrooms, artichokes, and (I think) parmesan. It was great, and the roasted potatoes that came with were exxxxceeellent. Everyone loved their meals, and the tiramisu was rich and rummy. The best part was that the waitress did not skimp on the drinks!! She came around every few minutes to top us off. I maaay have wound up having about five glasses of champagne and left the place a little tipsy (hey, it WAS my birthday.) Loved this place.

This place was really cute inside and the people were very nice but the food was not that good. There is much better italian in the neighborhood...

I thought my chicken was much too greasy and the carbonara was so creamy it was like alfredo sauce - not carbonara at all. I would skip this and try one of the other places on 5th ave...

This restaurant is just fantastic. Between 4 and 6 they do a 15 dollar pris-fixe dinner and on the weekend a 12 dollar brunch with unlimited coffee, mimosas and champagne.

Brunch has quickly become a weekly occurrence. Their mimosas are wonderful and they don't skimp on the champagne, their coffee rich without being bitter, and their food well-prepared (for the most part). My fiance and I have been ordering their Italian version of eggs benedict, which come with a pesto hollandaise sauce, and it's very good (although the sauce has no zip to it). The eggs are always perfectly cooked and instead of ham they use proscuitto.

In terms of complaints, I'd say the biggest is that the preparation of the food is sometimes uneven. We once ordered a side order of bacon which was extremely overcooked, to the point of being burnt, and the last time we went to the restaurant they were hosting a private party in the back room and our english muffins were overtoasted and the plate looked hastily put together. Additionally, the front end of the restaurant is far too dark and cramped, which while cozy in the winter is somewhat claustrophobic in the early spring months when it's still too cold to open up their front shutters to the street.

In terms of good qualities, the service there is fantastic. We are constantly being checked on, but the service is not overbearing. At brunch they are attentive to when you need a mimosa or coffee refill (the mimosas are like the nectar of the gods), and the food is plentiful. Everybody receives a basket of foccacia and pureed red roasted pepper dip, which they will happily resupply you with when you finish your order, and our eggs benedict always comes with nicely cooked potatoes and a beautifully dressed side salad. Our waiter recognizes us, we often see the head chef on the sidelines taking a break and welcoming people, and we're always served primarily by the same waiter, who is as efficient as he is friendly (very!).

I feel like this restaurant is something of a hidden gem. Their brunch and pris-fixe prices make their food a steal, they serve only organic food, and the service is great. Stick to the pris-fixe brunch, lunch and dinner though, as otherwise the food can be somewhat pricey. Also, if their front street-side dining area is unavailable, try to sit in the very back of the restaurant under the skylight area. It's much more open and gets a good amount of sunlight. I also recommend getting there for brunch as they open, either right at 11:00 or just after. The restaurant will be almost completely empty and the foccacia will be nice and hot.

The food here is amazing. Really helpful on the gluten-free thing, and knowledgeable about all the ingredients of each dish. And the price is right.
We went here for a friend's birthday. At dessert time, they turned out the lights to the place, which was hilarious because everyone thought the power went out, and they came to our table with a candled dessert we didn't even order, which was on the house. Then they gave us (all four of us) a free glass of champagne. It was really great, although I probably shouldn't write about the free stuff. They're going to have a mysterious spike in birthdays now, I'm sure.

If you can eat pasta, eat it here. All hand-made in house.
I had tilapia fillets that were incredible.

Good stuff.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!

Reminds me of romantic Dinners In Rustic Tuscan Barn. The ambiance, pure tuscan with aged wood, barn-like decor, aged wood tables and chairs and a relatively large dining space.

Food is really good.  The lamb shank is slow roasted for something like 7 hrs, the regular gnocci dish was good and whatever appetizers we had were incredible.  Honestly all of the food (except for the Spinach Gnocchi which I mistakenly ordered) was fantastic.  Good wine selections and seemingly family owned I cannot say enough good things about this place!

High Marks for ambiance and food.  Rare in my book.  About 3 blocks parallel there's a street with tons of cool-looking restaurants and little bars.

My girlfriend and I just ate here on a whim. We were going out for our usual dinner at Olive Vine, but didn't have cash and didn't want to walk around in the cold. I had heard about this place from a coworker. The overall picture - a great restaurant. Good vegetarian dishes and no pressure to order appetizers or from an expensive wine list. We got a carafe of the house red which as very good, and the eggplant parm and a mushroom pasta dish. The dessert came with free Prosecco that the manager filled up for free. Anyway, a great evening with friendly service. We stayed for a long time to finish the wine and never felt rushed. Give it a try, I can't wait to try the brunch and weekday prix-fixe menu.

Wonderful food, very helpful staff, great atmosphere!

I've been to Scottadito's several times, but it wasn't until this last visit that I really felt like I wanted to share my experience.  The food has always been exceptionally good (some of the pastas are just decent, but everything else is wonderful), but this time we went to dine, we were on a mission for tasty gluten-free dining.

Having recently learned of his gluten allergy, my boyfriend is extremely nervous about eating out now for fear of being contaminated (it has happened, as I'm sure others who share this allergy understand).  I stopped in to ask if they would be amenable to helping him dine with a restricted diet (he's also dairy free), and they were encouraging and helpful from moment one.  After coaxing my guy out of the house, we went with another couple and we were all extremely pleased with our meals.  The waiter came over and told us about the ingredients of every dish we inquired about, as well as the bread dip (which he could eat, so he forked up a few spoonfuls, since of course the bread itself was a no-no).

The salads at Scottadito are absolutely wonderful.  I highly recommend springing for one, either alone or to share, because you will not regret it.  I had salmon this particular visit, and my GF boyfriend enjoyed the red snapper.  The meals were well-portioned for the price, and left us all content as we sat in the back by the fireplace listening to the rain barrel down on the tin roof in the rear of the restaurant.

I've been telling co-workers recently they should take the trip into Park Slope just to dine at Scottadito, and recommend the same to you, fellow readers.  Don't be shy about dietary concerns, and I also encourage you to venture outside the regular Italian restaurant fare and try their special creations.

Delicious brunch and unlimited drinks $12.00!

They serve focacia and a roasted red pepper dip before the meal that is phenominal!!  LOVED IT!!

I decided to be good and have a salad with grilled shrimp. The shrimp were extra but so worth it!  I can't remeber the last time I had shrimp that good!

I can't believe that I've only had dinner at Scottadito twice. It's really good and I always forget about it for some reason. But it's seriously tasty. We started out with a pretty standard mozzarella, tomato and basil salad and then I had an amazing "house-made" tagliatelle with truffles, brie and speck. Creamier than I thought it would be, but quite delicious. Others at the table had the pork loin, the chicken parm and the pappardelle with the lamb ragout. Yum. We all shared the tiramisu for dessert.

Many of the ingredients are organic or naturally raised. Conveniently located directly next to the Park Slope food co-op,

Overlooked gem. 'Cmon people, get with it. Overlooking a gem doesn't make sense. It's a *gem*.

I don't know why this restaurant isn't more crowded. It might be location, as its next to a firehouse and sits in the least picturesque part of Union Street.  It's a much better (and equally priced) restaurant than Sotto Voce (on the corner of 7th Avenue and 4th Street), but has fewer patrons.

The food here is lovingly prepared, tasty and varied. The decor is reminiscent of a local Italian restaurant with its abundant wood and tile. You'll be transported to an Italian village, down to the staff which only speaks Italian. Ok, not true, they all speak English, but know how to pronounce the names of the authentically prepared meals.

Highly recommended.
