Second night in Sausalito and the rain had died down. We came here for dinner and I bet the view during a sunny day is gorgeous. Although it was dark, there were lights lit up outside giving me an amazing view. Food was delish!! Great size and just cooked to perfection. Our waitress was so sweet.

Crab cake---simply melts in your mouth!
Clam chowder--not the best I've had, but still had huge pieces of clams in it (not creamy enough for me)
Scallops entree---OMG, buttery, soft, lightly dusted. It was soooo good. This is a must!
I think I had a bellini and tried the pear martini. They pour with a heavy hand :)

I've been in Sausalito more than once and all those times I was just plain feeling romantic and stupid. :P  I don't mind driving here to get a bite to eat or just sit and relax with my coffee and honey, and all this time I never set foot on Scoma....until one gloomy day.

The interior of the restaurant speaks of relaxation and beauty. I love how you can dine while enjoying the beauty of the bay. Came here on an overcast Sunday with the family. No complaint about the service. Everyone is courteous, professional, and friendly. Our waitress Trish is an awesome lady. She made sure our dining experience is as awesome as she is.

Since it's too early to have dinner and we just had a late lunch, we decided to get drinks, coffee, appetizers, and dessert. The Ahi Tuna is so fresh! I like how it has slices of avocado on the side. That combination is just plain genius (4slices in one order). Then there's my all time favorite Calamari and it came with a piece of crab cake and a couple of cooked shrimps. It's nothing to be wow about but it's definitely worth trying. The Mango Margarita is good  but I will probably try the other cocktails that they have next time (cocktail drinks will cost you roughly around $10.50 which is not bad).

Coffee is unlimited! Pair it with their own made Tiramisu and you'll sure ask for more!

The ambience gets 5stars from me by the way. Come here anytime of the day. It's definitely worth the experience.

After a little searching on Yelp, we came here for a late lunch on a Friday. The view was what sold us on this restaurant. We were seated right away at a table in the back corner which allowed me to have great views of the bay and the city. Sweet!

I started off with a peartini and it was deeeelicious! It was the perfect balance of pear and alcohol. Usually, I can barely taste the pear flavor, but this was done really well.

We shared a bowl of the clam chowder. I was a little let down. It's just my preference but I like my clam chowder a little creamier than what they serve here.

I had the Linguine al Diplomatico. It had huuuge shrimp, lobster, and clams. I was trying to decide between this and the Linguine Vongole but with all the extra goodies I couldn't pass this up. It was everything I hoped it would be. They were generous with the seafood and the sauce was creamy and buttery without being super heavy. Even as leftovers, the sauce stayed consistent. It was heaven. I will definitely be back for this dish.

I tried a couple bites of the Ahi Tuna and was underwhelmed. I think it was because I liked my dish so much. The tuna itself was good but I didn't like the risotto or spinach that accompanied the fish. The risotto cake that it was served on was crispy which I liked, but it just tasted like burnt rice. There wasn't good flavor to me.

Service was great. I'm so confused to see the other reviews with the not so happy Yelpers with the service. Maybe since it was Friday everyone was ready and happy for the weekend. We were checked upon frequently and our server made sure everything was great for us.

I thought the setup of the restaurant was a little inconvenient. You have to walk through the area where the servers are hanging out and talking  and waiting for their food orders to come out so you feel like you're in their way to get to the restroom. This had to be done to get the best seats in the restaurant though.

Overall, I enjoyed my lunch here and will be back the next time I'm in the area.

This place is awesome! Of course it's pricey, but I loved my experience here. Came Here one day in the summer with a group of friends when we biked all the way across the Golden gate bridge into sausolito. It was just a super pretty day, and we sat outside soaking in the sun.

The appetizers were good especially the calamari and mussels. You gotta dip the bread in the mussel sauce, its like curry-ish just super good. I got lemon butter sole fish with green beans and mashed potatoes. It was good. My friend's fish tasted better it was crisp bass or something, it was so good! I tried my other friend's salmon too it was good, but the bass was the best.

I would come here again for a special occasion, loveedddd it.

Make sure to make a reservation, it gets busy and the venue is very small. (You have to walk through the kitchen to get to the other side of the restaurant type of small)

The window view is the best place in the house, relaxing to enjoy the view over dinner. Soup - Clam Chowder was good, plenty of potato and clam, Appetizer - Calamari Calabrese didn't turn out so well for me because I overlooked that it was "tossed" in marinara. I would have liked it better if it were prepared crispy. Entree - I had the Fresh Wild King Salmon, best part is that it's pistachio encrusted; delicious. (Special Addition on selective days)

I wouldn't say service is the best, our waiter wasn't so warm.

So many great memories in Sausalito.  So I decided to come here on a Monday night (Scoma's does an amazing lobster on mondays). The service and the quality as well as the view were great.

And the weather cooperated (we've had some really warm nights, thank you mother nature for holding off on winter).

You can work off that lobster with a long walked along the ocean enjoying picturesque views of the city and the bay and savor a hot chocolate with whipped cream from Starbucks on your route (really only Scoma's, Poggio's and Starbucks are open later on a monday)

Rickhouse may be my Monday favorite, but every now and then a man's got to eat, a nice drive across the bay may seem a long way to go, but Scoma's delivered.

My husband and I ate here for our one year anniversary. The view is incredible, the outdoor seating beautiful, and the food we got (keyword: got) was delicious. We told them it was our anniversary, so we thought they would at least make double sure we had a nice time and nothing was ruined.

My husband ordered the steak and lobster, and they brought out the steak which looked very lonely. We figured this was because they were going to pair it with the lobster any minute now. I had the tuna tar tar. It was really good, I do give them that. We watched as our waiter helped others, and when the meals and drinks were done, we asked... "and the lobster?" and they looked puzzled. It was on our ticket so we would have paid for it if we didn't say anything.

Other than that, it was a beautiful place.

Stumbled onto this sausalito treasure while my boyfriend and i were staying the night there for his business interview the following day...happened to be there on a monday so they had their lobster monday night special which included choice of clam chowder or caesar salad, a whole maine lobster, and creme brulee for dessert...for $29.95! ...and it was all excellent ...we were fortunate enough to get one of the best seats in the house, too....in the corner surrounded by windows so we had spectacular views of sf and sausalito framed with christmas lights....lovely holiday romance....great service, too.....highly recommend!

What's wonderful about Scoma's is that the restaurant is quite literally on the water. I came here with my parents and boyfriend, and we had a wonderful corner table right by the window. However, the seating can be a little tight at Scoma's, which is why I'm not giving it 5-stars. There was an awkward 2-person table right behind ours, and the table is set up such that two people have to sit on the same side of the table (romantic I guess, but perhaps a little awkward when trying to actually eat), but when 4 people are sitting at the table my family was seated at, the view of the window is pretty obstructed, so I felt sort of bad for the people sitting there when my family arrived, but what can you do.

Anyways, on to the important stuff: the food & service. My salmon was outstanding - cooked perfectly, and the breading was delicious. However, I was disappointed by the unevenness in temperature of everything on my plate - my veggies were pretty cool, but my salmon was very hot. My mom had to send her chicken back to be re-heated because it was pretty much cold when it arrived. Still though, the food was good enough for me to give Scoma's 4-stars despite those shortcomings.

The service was good - everyone was pleasant enough, though I suppose our waitress could've been a little more friendly, but she was attentive enough and was very polite and apologetic when my mom asked for her food to be warmed.

I wasn't paying, which is another reason I can give Scoma's 4-stars. You should know that this restaurant is by no means inexpensive, or even moderate. This would be a nice place if your family is in town (and paying!), or a place to bring a significant other on a special occasion.

Disappointed since this restaurant (but the SF location) is one of my childhood faves. Our table of 4 shared the raw oysters and they looked old with a weird yellow discoloration.  I thought for sure I'd get sick - but I didn't!  It wasn't as fresh nor look as appetizing as the oysters at Horizon's.  The dipping vinegar wasn't up to par.

The crab cake was better at Scoma's (vs. Horizon's).  I opted for the Calamari Dore and it was good.  Service was just ok, nice ambiance.

Great drinks, flavorless food. Manhattan was very good. As appetizers, the steamed clams were tiny, tiny, of poor quality and absolutely flavorless and unfulfilling in a watery flavorless broth. The sourdough and butter were the best part of the dinner. Caesar salad was good with added anchovies, but not the best.  Grilled Petrale was cooked and browned nicely, tender but lacked flavor. It was served with a small portion of flavorless plain pasta and vegetables. We had to add salt and pepper (which we normally never do) and butter to everything to give it some taste.
Water boy would fill my husband's glass of water, but not mine which was strange. Waitress was pleasant.
It is a shame they remodeled and opened just two days ago, yet they have  chefs preparing flavorless dishes. Where are their priorities? Does management or the owners ever taste-test the food?
We were seated in the rear room by the windows with nice views. They had fans blowing in that small room and it was getting chilly. It's winter! They could not turn the fans off, so they put the heat up - and then it was almost suffocating at one point, but then got stabilized and was okay.  Such a wonderful location, yet  they are really lacking in their food department. We went there with good hopes, but in the end, we were very disappointed. Much better seafood places in Marin and San Francisco. A real shame and a real disappointment. Sorry, but we won't return.

This review is mainly directed to the host of Scoma's. We made reservations for 8:30 and two of us showed up a few minutes early. The other two showed up way early. When we arrived and told them we were ready to be seated, the host said it would be 15-20 minutes. No explanation, no apology. I completely understand that places get busy and behind schedule, parties linger, etc. All I'd ask for is a simple "sorry we're running behind schedule, we'll have you seated as soon as possible." To the contrary, he was condescending and rude and acted like he was doing us a favor by allowing us to wait. The hostess tried the same thing but we were pretty annoyed by that point and called her out for her attitude. At least she had the humility to then admit they'd screwed up. The old guy adamantly refused to acknowledge they were anything but perfect and maintained his holier-than-thou facade.

Customer service, people. It isn't hard. An extra star for the delightful bar server who apologized and offered us a complimentary calamari to atone for her colleagues' crappy behavior. It was the only reason we didn't take our busniess elsewhere (and the only reason they aren't getting 1 star).

Btw, I'm not commenting on the food because I don't eat seafood, but I did have the ravioli - the only non-fish thing on the menu - and it was $25! and VERY average. I appreciate the nod to the non-fish eaters, but how they can charge $25 for a mediocre pasta is beyond me. Clearly they know we're only getting it because we have to - seems extortionate.

I would give this restaurant a 3 even though our artichoke appetizers were extremely delicious, and my steak & prawns were cooked to my liking I really didn't like the fact that I had to track down the waiter to get drinks even a glass of water then after ordering our meal the waiter asked both my significant other & myself "are you planning on eating all of that?"
This question left me confused:-/ especially after he brought me my order (it was not that much food). Just don't feel I should have asked numerous times for the wine menu and had been asked that rude question.

I'm giving this place a three star rating because I guess I had hoped better for it. I walked past this place in '09 doing the Susan G Koman 3 day walk for breast cancer and as much as i wanted to stop that was day three and I knew if I stopped to eat food that I probably would not get up from that chair. This year I was killing time waiting to greet a friend at the finish line of the even this year so I grabbed lunch there with a friend and it seems I picked the wrong day to go there. I have to say that I'm going to be ordering off the dinner as the lunch specials are a no no at this joint.

Our Artichoke appetizer was was super delish, I'll go back for dinner and see if the star count can get higher.

My friend and I walked into this place after biking over the Golden Gate bridge.  It looked like a nice sit-down place by the water.  The place was really busy, but we finally got an outdoor table after about 10 minutes of waiting at the bar.

This place was down-home and delicious.  We had the cajun shrimp, the giant scallops, and a crab and lobster dish, all of which were packed with flavor.  The prices were somewhat high, but I didn't mind given the large portions and the super-flavorful meal.  This is one moderately "pricey" restaurant in which you get your money's worth in food, and in flavor.  I would definitely go back next time I visit Sausalito, by bike, car, or boat.

Overpriced tourist trap. Looks cool from the outside and clearly has some history, but from the waitress' first erroneous wine description to the visually unappealing entree, this place failed to impress.

The best part was probably the bread to start, which was local sourdough. The menu is very pricey--you literally cannot get a soup, salad, or starter in the single digits (even a cup of chowder!).

Upon the waitress' reco, I went with the Sand Dabs ("local specialty"), which were tender enough, but so soaked in butter that was the only thing you could taste. The sides were  uninspiring plain penne pasta and bland "mixed vegetables".

The interior is dated, but being right on the Bay, at least the view is beautiful!

    More cons than pros.

    Pros: Great location

Cons: where do I even begin??  Terrible service, mediocre food, and high prices.

We stopped by Scoma's on Saturday afternoon after a day of sailing around the bay.  We wanted to grab some drinks and some food to tide us over until our dinner reservations in the city.  We were hoping for a seat outside but were willing to sit at the bar.  When we walked in, the host greeted us and immediately had the bus boys start setting a table for us in the main dining room.  We clarified that we just wanted drinks and appetizers and he quickly brushed us off and said that they were getting a table ready for us.  We AGAIN clarified that we were not staying for dinner.  We simply wanted to grab a few drinks.  After several more repetitions, it finally got through to him.

Finally situated at a table in the bar, our first round of drinks came out quickly, albeit with some confusion.  We were clearly staring at the menu but he didn't offer to take our order.  He came back and pretty much demanded that we all order another round of drinks (when our glasses were still 80% full).  We politely declined and I asked if they had the lobster bisque since I didn't see it on the bar menu.  He says yes and then just walks away.  He then came back 10 minutes later with full dinner menus.  My friends at the other end of the table placed their order and clearly said "That's just our order.  I think other people want to order too."  I'm not sure if there was a language barrier or what, but he just left and brought out their order of oysters and calamari.  Exasperated, we again tried to order some food.  Everyone placed their orders and I again asked if they had the lobster bisque (since I didn't see it on the dinner menu either).  At this point, he tells me that they don't have any lobster bisque and starts to walk away.  I had to holler at him to come back so that I could place another order.

Our food finally arrives but we had to watch it go cold since we had no silverware.  He again tells us that we all need to order another round of drinks and before we can confirm or decline, he walks off!!

A very confusing experience.  3 beers and 1 crab cake later and I'm dissatisfied and $40 poorer.  I think there are plenty of other places on the water in Sausalito with better food and better service.  I definitely won't be back again.

I've been here twice and the food was amazing both times. Mmmm butterfly scallops are my favorite. Service is pretty good as well.

I came pretty early this last time and was the first in the restaurant so I didn't have a problem with a crowd. The first time I came was around 3PM and we didn't have an issue getting a table right away also but I do remember it taking a little while to get our food. It is small, so I could see this place filling up quick on a busy day.

Nice little spot in the town of Sausalito, CA overlooking San Francisco. It was especially enjoyable during fleet week with a view of the "Blue Angels" while we ate. Oysters were extremely fresh, my crab cake was fantastic, and my group's dishes were all a big hit. No wait to be seated, though fully packed, and great service.

Unfortunately, when I arrived at the restaurant, I was greeted as if I were an invisible alien visiting from outerspace by the blond woman at the front of the restaurant. No smile, no hello, several minutes of awkwardness while she worked on the paperwork in front of her and spoke to the other workers in the restaurant.

Finally and mercifully she acknowledged my presence and we were seated thanks to the reservation I had made through Open Table.

The waitress we had was very pleasant and helped to make up for the welcome I had into restaurant.

It was lunchtime, so my boyfriend and I both had a bowl of clam chowder, which was quite good, but I wasn't fainting from it. The crab cake we shared was $15 and it, honestly, was just ok.

The location of the restaurant is fun, you are dining literally over the water and my boyfriend mentioned that he could see Alacatraz from his seat during lunch, so that was interesting.

Beautifully located restaurant on the entrance into town and on the Bay. We'd cycled into town fresh from crossing the bridge, on the way to the overburdened ferry.

There are a number of choices in Sausalito, this being one of the more famous ones. Once you have a gimmick in America, you've got it made. This restaurant's one is good crab cakes (incidentally available at Costco.)

So naturally, I had the crab salad and my daughter had the salmon with string beans and pesto. Both with good quality ingredients and nicely presented.

While the restaurant is on the water, it doesn't use it's position as well as it could, with only 3 or 4 tables outside. Our table was a lonely one on a small outcropping of a balcony, good for romance and Ancient Mariners but losing a little of that big restaurant ambience we crave when we go out.

Wine selection was fine with a superb Verrdichio offered by the glass. Just a one courser as we had to catch the ferry back to SF.

I have had mostly lunches, but also a few dinners at Scoma's over the past 6-7 years. Service has always been good and the food excellent. The outside seating offers a breathtaking view of San Francisco bay and the city skyline. The ferry boats dock nearby and you can watch them come and go.

The cioppino, fish tacos, and halibut have always been my favorite, so I haven't ventured too far into the menu with the exception of the unbelievable Monday night $29 lobster dinners. Both the San Francisco Scoma's as well as this newer addition (1969) in Sausalito offers some of the most flavorful lobster I have ever experienced. What a bargain at $29 for a complete meal. The sourdough bread is fresh every day and the salads are fresh and flavorful. A bowl of clam chowder on a cool day is hard to beat, served with a unlimited supply of bread.

Service has always been good and the food consistently above average.  I tend to like the Scoma's in San Francisco just a bit more even though it doesn't have the bay view offered by the Sausalito location.

Most of the locals in Sausalito and Tiburon view Scoma's as probably the best seafood restaurant around and with the freshest of fish.  The best parking is at the city lot a short block away.

    The service and food....phenomenal!!!

Oh my word i loved loved loved my experience here. Now the food may be a little pricey but the occasion called for it!
My boyfriend made reservations here as it was recommended by the concierge service from our hotel.
When we walked in, It was as if they had been waiting for us. We walked in, were greeted by name and seated at a cute little table facing the water.

Our waitress was a gem. So sweet and helpful. She suggested the salmon so I said WTF- gave it a try and I AM glad I did. It was ahhhhmazing. No, seriously it was.

After dinner, we were surprised by a candle lit cheesecake brought to our table by the staff to wish us a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY. Totally caught by surprise. Made the experience FIVE STARS FOR SURE!

This place won over my heart and my tummy. I was a very happy camper when I walked out those doors.

    Wonderful experience!

We go there every time we visit San Francisco. We became engaged at Scoma's of Sausilito. The food, service and ambiance are 5 star.

What a lovely restaurant along the waterfront! I was skeptical at first, afraid that it's a tourist trap with pricey but low quality food.  But to my surprise, everything from service, decor, and food were all better than expected.

A peartini and mango margarita kick started our evening meal with a chilled shellfish platter for two.  The seafood platter came with two little neck clams, two oysters, 4 prawns, and crab leg meat, all de-shelled!

The scallop risotto was flavorful and the risotto was cooked just right, neither too mushy nor it was undercooked.  The NY steak was juicy and tender.

Dessert is a little weak but nevertheless, ordered the fresh berries (mostly strawberries with two raspberries) with zabaglione to complete our meal.

Our table faced the window overlooking the water front and David, our waiter was extremely friendly and funny.

I'd definitely go back for second time.

Ohhhh Scoma's how I love you!

I live in San Jose and love driving aimlessly with my Honey. One night we drove out to Sausalito and literally stumbled across Scoma's. Not knowing anything about it we decided to give it a try (honestly it was between Scoma's and Horizons, next door) although Horizon's looked too fancy for our casual attire since we were just driving to the City for fun. Long story short, FANTASTIC food at Scoma's! Fish and chips, soooo yummy! Calamari, best I have EVER had! My boyfriend's seafood pasta, excellent. Lets just put it this way, we have found ourselves no lover driving aimlessly to the City, now we drive on a mission to Scoma's!

Side note: they close early on either Wed or Thur night (can't remember which day, I think Wed) which put a damper on our evening one night when we showed up not knowing, so we ate at Horizon's. Same prices not even close in taste! Scoma's you make my taste buds salivate!

Thank you for never disappointing me!

    Truly yours ;) ,

We ate outside on a beautiful day.

    We started with:

Caprese Salad - Heirloom tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, olive oil was a perfect balance.  I tasted a bit of lemon in the mix, it was good.!!!!

    Steamers were good.

Halibut stuffed with Dungeness Crab with Spinach and Risotto cake.  The fish and crab was perfectly cooked.  The risotto cake had a salty area but overall it was very good.

Service was prompt and they watched out for anything extra that we needed.

The place is wonderful because of San Francisco view.
I love the Linguine al Diplomatico.  It was awesome!

However, my only complain is the wait time to give us a table other than that the staff was terrific.

Fish tacos were excellent, service was excellent, views, are perfect...
As a former 4 star restaurant manager in NYC I would say its well worth the average prices for that view and dishes. Our friend had the scallops and LOVED them-she owns a seafood restaurant and was impressed.
The views alone are worth it all.

Good place to stop in for a drink. While hosting guests who wanted to see Sausalito, we took a little break from them and grabbed a drink at the bar. Good service, decent drinks..

Food is gREAT! searfood really hits the spot for me. Pricey but worth it. you should really take a day out and treat yourself. i always go to the San francisco scomas [which is one of my absoluate fave restaurants], decided to finally come to sausalitos and try some restaurants here. first familiar name, when picking a restaurant, of course i picked scomas. i will soon go back to the town to visit other restuarants. but now.. this review..

the venue itself isnt very spacious. the tables are close together and i sometimes feel uncomfortable when the next table can hear my conversations. anyway. our water was refilled constantly but our waitress left us alone most of the time.

    get the scallops. BOMB.
    jumbo shrimps. potatoes. also bomb.

a causal date place, i could say.

To get out of the city my and my beau drive to Sausalito the day after Christmas. Who knew that would be the busiest time of year in Sausalito. People were everywhere and parking was nowhere. Luckily we were in the holiday spirit and didn't mind circling for 20 minutes till finally finding a spot in the downtown area.

Scoma's was calling my name. Between the amazing views, the need for seafood and the "no wait" for seating we decided on Scoma's. We got a spot by the window, which is a must.

After a nice glass of the Chardonnay and half a crab on ice (with lemon and cocktail sauce) I was full and happy. The crab comes out of a plate with ice and is nicely cracked for you so it is not too hard to eat. I also was provided with a bib, which I wore with merriment.

We really liked the popcorn shrimp with mango salsa. It wasn't a salsa so much as a dipping sauce and it was warm. The clam chowder in the bread bowl was just okay.

Our server was really nice and she helped us with suggestions. We weren't rushed at all even though they had a long line by the time we left. For the price its not cheap, but for a nice lunch out with views I would recommend it.
