Dennis and I went on a "gay" vacation!!
Yes! After living in VT and NH. I had always wanted to go to a gay resort in gay Ft Lauderdale.
The Schubert Resort markets itself as a "retro resort" with cool art deco decor and gracious style.
It has a enclosed compound with pool, hottub, and nice manacured gardens. The roooms were newly remodeled, spacious, and very clean.
They offer happy hour nightly, for 1 hour with free cocktails, as well as breakfast.
Also free wi-fi but that was not working so well. Good grief!
A nice location, walkable to the beach, and also the canals, where we got on the water taxi for a fantastic tour.
A short cars drive to the gay Wilson Manor area.
Not too many hot guys, as the website pics boast!!  Poo-Poo!

I've been to much better resorts in FTL and worse.  This one is not fabulous, but it's OK.  It is certainly not a dump.  The lobby and the pool area are the best features.  It's also close the the Galleria mall and a small shopping center with some decent eateries.

As in any of these places, the crowd is hit or miss.  The tragic thing is, I was one of the hottest guy there the weekend we were there :-( .   But the guys were friendly for the most part.

The rooms are clean but I think they made a mistake when they carpeted the rooms rather than tiling them.  Both my friend and I had pretty nasty sinus problems the day after we checked in and the problems went away the day after we left.  It could have been a cold, but I suspect that there is a mold problem with the carpeting, but I cannot be positive of this.

Also, there is no longer a happy hour at the resort; we were told the homophobic mayor of FTL shut all the complimentary happy hours down claiming that they were running a bar without a license.

David at the front desk was also very helpful.
