Magnificent structure!   This will give you a glimpse of what life was like back in the mid 1800s when Capt. Schreiner was committing himself to support the growth of Kerrville, as is evidenced by the many structures and facilities he founded.  The Schreiner Dept. Store was famous until it closed in 2007, he donated the land for the VA hospital, he was behind the Schreiner Unversity...and so much more.
This museum was once his home and includes, fortunately, many of the artifacts original to the home.  Period furnishings, beautifully maintained floors and ceilings, artwork, memorabilia of the day and so much more.  Allow at least an hour.  Also included is a special room filled with lavish costumes of Fiesta in San Antonio from years gone by.  Museum is closed on Mondays.  Admission fee is about $5.
