Schooner Exact brews 3 Grid IPA as their flagship. This is a tasty IPA with tons of hop flavor and aroma. Their tap handles are showing up more often and I always order it when i see it.
Got to try these guys out for the first time this weekend. They only had one beer on tap, their IPA, and it was in their new shared space with Laughing Buddha Brewing.
I think these guys have a lot of potential. The IPA had a very clean, crisp finish, and a nice hop to malt balance ratio (a tough thing to pull off with that style). I'd of course like to see more available from them, but I know it'll come in due time.
I plan on returning after giving them some more time to settle in and get things rolling. But for now, I'd say they're "A-ok" and on the right track!
There are three good reasons to get yourself some Schooner Exact beer:
Marcus and Matt (the brewer/owners) are two of the nicest guys you will ever meet in your life. They know a lot about beers and bicycles. Ask them about both.
Their brewery is named after the first ship to sail into Seattle - and all of their beers are historically named as well. Smart beer = smart drinkers.
The beer itself is DELICIOUS! I'm partial to the 3 Grid IPA, but had myself a taste of the Gallant Maiden Hefeweizen when they unveiled it at the beginning of July and really liked it.
Unfortunately you can only find pints and pitchers of their beers at a few West Seattle bars (Beveridge Place Pub and West 5 Lounge for sure) but you can contact the boys and buy a fresh keg - and their Schooner Exact swag - straight from their brewery.
