I must say, the School of Visual Concepts does a terrific job in offering the design classes and talks in all types of areas! I attended the Cindy Pain talk just last week on how to use LinkedIn better. I learned so much from the talk, I couldn't wait to hop on to my computer when I got home to touch up my LinkedIn account.
I cannot tell you how much I like this school and the people who run it! I recommend taking a class or two, you won't forget it! -

As a freelance designer, I have found that continuing my professional education can be tough because it is oftentimes hard to bridge the gap between the classroom setting and real-life application. Not so at SVC. All of their instructors are seasoned, senior/director level design professionals who never fail to tie theory to trend, or lesson to application.
I think it serves every designer well (at any stage of development) to expose themselves to the perspectives of more tenured designers. To this end, SVC feels more like mentoring and less like instructing.
Whether you are brushing up on your CS3 skills or taking a one-day seminar on perfecting your creative briefs, there is no wasted space or time at SVC. Every class I have taken has paid for itself 10 times over. Seattle is lucky to have such a wonderful resource. -

I love SVC! Thing I like the best is that all instructors are practicing designers so you will not be getting the "academic" perspective but rather the point of view of designers working at actual top-notch design studios around Seattle. I've been taking classes for over a year and every single one has been fantastic. Students tend to be professionals so the attitude is serious and focused which enables you to get the most out of each class. On top of that, staff at the school is fantastic and will do anything to help you achieve your goals (they helped me with my portfolio which helped in landing me my new job).
If you are looking for a way to upgrade your design skills, this is the place for you. -

Going to SVC helped me bridge the gap from being a lowly print production monkey for the phonebook to now working at a sweet agency right by the market in Seattle designing , prototyping and devoloping solutions for web, mobile and beyond. It hasn't helped me with my run un sentences, though.

I took a free class at SVC recently and look forward to exploring their offerings in the future. They seem accommodating and friendly, even offering 50% off of class fees for folks who have been laid off (limited spots available). I've driven past this place for I-don't-know-how-many years and am glad I finally got a chance to see what it's all about.

My experience at the School of Visual Concepts has been amazing. It's the perfect school for those of us who have a full time job, but still want to improve our skills. The teachers are all professionals in Seattle so it's really nice to be taught by people that are still at the top of their game. The class sizes are also pretty small so you'll get to know your instructor very well and get some great individual help. You do not have to be an artist to benefit from the classes here. I took a creative thinking seminar once that has helped me in every job I've had. If you are thinking about going back to school, you should give SVC a call or stop by to see how they can help you get to where you want to be.
