I used to be a fan of the store, but it's gone downhill since 2020. I often pay for things that don't end up in my bags or things I don't pay for end up there as well which means someone else paid for an item and didn't get it. They are out of a number of non-food items that I depend on like cleaning products etc. But the thing I think that disappoints me the most is that they've taken a political stance that I can't and refuse to support. When you openly hop on one side of the fence or another, you OFFEND people. I'm deeply offended by their politics and won't be shopping there any longer. I don't think publicly traded companies should be forced into taking sides to appease a single group and the people who patronize those companies should be forced either. I hope they go out of business.

Deli: Ordered a pound of Brick Cheese. Their brand is so soft it's almost gooey. Nothing between the slices. It's all back in softbrick form. As slicing engineer was replacing the cheese brick, I mentioned the huge globs of mold I saw. "That's on the back half! The front should be fine!" Holy shit.
To add to aggravation, only 2 registers open. I think they have that many employees helping people to "self-checkout."

In Jefferson city, this is as good as it gets for grocery stores.

The store is clean, well staffed, and comparable in the price category.
With a wide selection of fresh goods, it's the only place I will shop.

Not only is it more expensive than other chains, they LOVE to hide their products particularly on the canned vegetable aisle. Every time I patronize them i can't find what i'm looking for 'cause they decided to move it to a new location. Case in point, Read's German Potato Salad originally was in with other canned potatoes. But that wasn't good enough and they moved it, this time to salad stuff. Apparently they do not grasp that regardless of the name, this is a VEGETABLE.
And the plastic bags they use at the self-serve portion of the bakery are mislabeled where to open, took forever to figure out.

Woah, this place is comparable to an abandoned Dollar General or Sears. So many employees, half-empty shelves, creepy music throughout the store (I might be projecting that part because I felt like I was going to get attacked my zombies), and prices that make you think "well no wonder there's no one else here".

      Who even reviews grocery stores?

I DO because I didn't think a single supermarket would have all the ingredients I needed for an elaborate brunch, including a variety of cheeses and fresh spices. I went here on a Saturday night (aka ballinnnnnnn with my awesomeness on Supermarket Saturday Night) and found everything I needed. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I was impressed.

Schnucks is the number 2 grocery store in JC. It was a very pretty design and layout. The produce department alone is very nice. The service deli is great and they have great sales on everything.
Why the 4 star then, you ask? Because the old lady wouldn't sell me beer because my California ID looked fake to her. I can't be mad, she's only doing her job. Wait-- yeah I can!!!!

This place started off great with good service. Been going here for years and service has gone downhill and most of the likeable staff have left. Very few checkers and even fewer baggers. Checkers will frequently get on the intercom phone and complain about lack of breaks etc. After a very poor experience today I won't be coming back.

The store is okay, high prices for sure. And it will do in a pinch. BUT whatever you do, don't buy their brand of Orange Juice. It taste like it's bad from the start. The smell alone will gag you. Buy a name brand, but lord, stay away from their brand of OJ. WORST EVER!!!
