I used to live in the Heights (as we so fondly called it) and used to come to frequently.
It was the spot for picnics, parties, boyscout outings, hikes- basically everything!
The park is a Regional Park so it is pretty big. Main attractions are the horse trails and the creeks.
As a kid, I remembered this park to be fairly clean but now it seems a bit neglected. None the less, still a great place to relax and get away from the Rowland/Hacienda Heights crazy-ness!

I used to live off Saleroso Drive, which was adjacent to the side and back of the park.  I absolutely loved it.  I could be in the park in 5 minutes.  Back in high school, Schabarum was the place where my friends and I recorded our video projects .  It's where I ran for many summers and tested my endurance and mettle.  It's also where I first rode a horse and thought my groin was going to be strained forever.

I ran the Wild Cat Loop and lost like 20lbs, no kidding.  There's so much greenery and wild critters for you to look at while you run.  I really fell in love with it and still consider it my trail.

In the early mornings, you can see various groups of old asian people doing line dancing, fan dancing, tai chi, etc... There's also a side area which gets packed with AYSO soccer games during Saturdays, so watch out for that.

Great escape from all of the car dealerships which have plagued this area in recent years.

This place is scenic and is great for picnics, long walks, or just enjoying wildlife.  There's lots of rabits, squirrels, birds, and other sorts of creatures.  I have great memories coming here as a kid.  My siblings and I once caught some tadpole in a stream and took them home to watch them grow into frogs, which later escaped from the aquarium we kept them in.  I now realize how wrong that was, you probably shouldn't take animals like that out of their natural habitat, but hey, we were kids and it was a fun experience!

The park also has an area where they keep horses, and even if you're not going to ride them, it's fun to just observe them.

This park is my favorite part of living in Hacienda Heights.

Fantastic park for all the soccer kids and baseball players..  My friends love to come to this park with their kids and it's well hidden in the back from the street.
It's a great place to keep your kids occupied playing all kinds of sports and outta trouble.
The only downside to this park is the limited parking and no lighting when it gets dark early.

I've always loved these gigantic parks strewn about L.A. County.  I've probably been to many more of them than I know about, but when you're a little kid, you don't pay attention to where you're driving.  But I always did have an uncanny way of knowing what other places we were near.

I've only been here a couple of times.  It's actually pretty amazing to me that there are 700 acres of parkland this close to the Puente Hills Mall.  Like most of the wildish places in Southern California, there are a lot of yellow vegetation and hills.

If you get tired of the nature scene, you can always waste your money at the gazillions of chain stores in nearby Hacienda Heights.

This park is really pretty, especially in spring when all the flowers are blooming. It's a nightmare for my seasonal allergies, but very easy on the eyes. The soccer field in the back is huge and I often take my dog out there for a walk. There is also an leisurely looped hiking trail and I always feel like I'm out in the country instead of right next to busy Colima Road when I am at this park. Great for picnics, bbqs and hiking/walking!
