Mini golf.
Slow to get through the course, but I was really happy to at least see one other "group" who didn't have small kids. Usually we're the only freaks without kids at these places.
Hands down WAY better than that Malibu Gardens crapfest on the peninsula.
Clean, things aren't broken, and the putters don't look like they've gone through a woodchipper.
-1 star because I lost (kidding).
My fiance and I were in town and had some time to kill, so we decided to have a nostalgic little miniature golf date. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a disappointment.
We both grew up in Solano County, so we're familiar with the Scandia franchise, but we hadn't been to this particular location. We each paid $16.00 for the Package B, which included a game of golf, a ride on the boats or carts, and some tokens.
The first few holes of the course were an absolute joy, but at the fourth or fifth hole, the experience quickly turned sour. The sap in the trees has attracted hundreds of yellow jackets, and they became territorial. I had three yellow jackets crawling on my leg, and three more started dive-bombing my fiance's head.
We hoped that the attacks would cease once we switched holes, but the yellow jackets kept following us. Sadly, we had to abandon our game. We reported the issue to the employees, but the maintenance staff was a bit flippant about the problem.
We did enjoy our time in the arcade, even though a good portion of the games were out of order. Still, I think that a $32 price tag is a bit steep for a tainted game of miniature golf, a few arcade games, and three minutes on a go-kart course. Next time, we'll go elsewhere.
Get the $18 deal! It comes with 15 game tokens, 2 bumper boat/race track tokens and a round of the mini-golf!
Taking my 3 good friends out made today a cheap date! Less than $80 total and add a few drinks, and we were good for about 4 hours!
P.S. This was my 300th review! YAY!
For my 300th review, I'd like to dedicate it to Cade P.
He and I were on our 299th mark and decided to partake in Scandious (hardy har har) events -mini golf, arcade, bumper boats...all coated with the scent of 12-year old sweat.
Cade P. paid, four of us went, we got the $18 package deal! It comes with 15 game tokens, two ride tokens and a round of the mini-golf. They gave us too many tokens for rides, but the sweet and innocent Cade P. gave them back...tsk tsk. And, I am not sure why the cashier took them back, Cade P. said it was his bday, so it was like a free gift...but he took them away before I could blurt out the words "Run for it!".
Oh well.
Oh, and they have a real live Mario Bros video game. Playing that was like a dream come true.
Everyone in Sonoma County has to come here at some point in life. It's pretty much like any mini-golf place... You gotta have the ridiculous, gaudy course, the batting cages, arcades, bumper boats, etc. It's pretty obvious that the place isn't in its prime, what with the scratched-up equipment and cruddy carpet inside. The unenthusiastic employees don't really help, either. The arcades are fine... I guess not all of them work, but we still found some fun ones. Nonetheless, anyone looking for something to do won't exactly be too disappointed after coming here... maybe no more than once. Since it's right by the 101, I wonder how many times cars got hit by flying golf balls. Eek.
We come here from time to time, usually it starts cause we want to go to the batting cages, then it some how turns into one of us calling the other out on a game of air hockey... then the competition turns to - oh yeah? well beat MY score at skee ball... to so you think you can take me at mini basket ball? -- and some how ends with us in a put to the death tourney of mini golf.
Much cleaner than the one in Fairfield. Friendly staff.
Love the little race track too... I've taken kids here the last couple times as well, and there seems to be something for all ages, not just us adults who refuse to grow up.
If me, MamaQ and LittleQ are rolling into Scandia it is for one thing, and one thing only: the mini golf. We played the Left Course (as in, the one to your left when you turn around from the club rental window) on a recent trip to Santa Rosa.
Scandia's greens are in good condition (if you mock me, you have no idea just how run down some people let their mini golf courses get). They score the most points for the subtleties of their greens: they put some creative thought into the little bumps and rolls, and most of the shots are unique and fun.
The let down was two-fold: they seem to have fallen in love with the concept of the ramp leading to a swinging trap-door, and have replicated three times. And they have no "real" 18th hole: it's one of those "putt your ball into the cage, kiss it goodbye and card a '1'" sort of things.
Oh, and the shortest club they had was still too tall for LittleQ. Next time, we'll bring his own club.
This was a very fun course, with lots of creative shots. Next time we'll play the Right Course, so we can hit the loop de loop.
Scandia is a mini Malibu Grand Prix. There is a lot of fun to be had here. We got the package deal, 1 round of 18 holes, 2 rounds in the turbo cars, 15 tokens per person, $19 per person.
The turbo cars are like Tonka cars come to life. You can pick from a single or double seater. Each car is done up like a Nascar sponsored car. I twisted and turned in the Castrol and Motorola cars.
The mini golf course is cool, but had a lot of the windmill type holes. There are batting cages, and the dirty water boat rides you couldn't pay me to ride in. There is a full arcade with skee ball, a personal fave, and a snack bar where you can purchase your ICEE for the round of mini golf on those hot summer days.
O, Scandia,
How I have such fond memories of you.
A few months ago my little sisters came begrudgingly and then proceeded to hand me my ass after just a few holes.
O, Scandia,
Remember how our softball team used to come here for batting practice? And then we'd agonize for entire minutes over what prizes we wanted with our hard-earned arcade tickets.
And O, Scandia,
Riding those little cars around and around, well before I was of driving-age gave me such a sense of empowerment and bad-assness. I have you to thank for my fluid freeway maneuvering.
O, Scandia,
I don't care how many different eatery places have come and gone. You remain true- a place where young and old can compete as equals in golf, skeeball, Cruisin' USA, bumper-boat hitting, batting, and money spent.
The only thing that could make me love you more would be if you had adult-only nights so that I didn't have to watch my tongue so much.
A fun place to go for the occasional birthday party. It has a decent arcade with fun mini golf courses, bumper boats, and go cars. Not much else to say, although some go cars need to be replaced or at least tuned up. Also, the arcade smells like sweat at times.
This place was fun in, oh i don't know, junior high? The games are compulsively broken and never fixed or turned off-- anything for a token or two. Skee ball doesn't pay out for the jackpot and by the time an attendant comes to the game to hear the complaint, they say there isn't anything the can do. Air hockey is about the only game that works properly and I can get that at a number of other places.
Mini golf? If you have the time to wait and deal with cheating players and slow players in front of you.
Racing? Most of the cars need a serious tune up.
Bumper Boats? If you wanna play with yourself! (no pun intended)
Batting cages? Usually pretty good, but about every hundredth pitch comes out two balls at once.
For what it is, I'd give this place 4 stars.
You get a nice mix of miniture golf (we played the right course), boats that squirt water, and race cars. They also have batting cages.
You can't ride the race cars by yourself unless you're at least 58" tall. The boats have a height limit of 44".
The arcade has a lot of variety. The Boys were fixated on spending money to earn tickets for super cheap crap. For them, they had a great time.
We live about 45 minutes away. Yet, for a silly, fun filled, day, I'd do it again.

Why o why is this place still in business??? Why won't they go bankrupt already? Oh and the commercial is all wrong, it is not all kinds of fun rolled into one
This past Sunday was a BLAST. We went to this center to celebrate a friends surprise birthday party. There were 10 adults. We rode the race cars, some better than others. I could not stop laughing. We played miniature golf. This was a really fun group of people, we take our game seriously. Plus the loosing team had to buy the pitchers of beer afterward. (my team lost) The bumper boats were crazy fun. Or at least when you are in the water with a group of crazy fun people. We got soaked. That's right 10 adults acting like children. I thought this was a great place for all, kids or no kids. We didn't know what to do with the tickets from the arcade game since we had no interest in the "prizes" so we gave them to a little girl.
Scandia is only halfway decent for two reasons: skee ball and mini golf. Maybe the batting cages once in awhile.
We stopped off her after the Sonoma County fair was a bust...Thank god for scandia- it totally saved the day.... The BF and I purchased Package A for $16.00 per person which includes 1 round of golf ( I kicked his ass), 1 ride on the bumper boats (we were the only people on them and soaked each other with the water gun thingy that's on them), and 15 tokens for the arcade (which mid-way through playing my BF came up to me with his a giant grin on his face and lit up eyes and shoved his cupped hand in my face which was full of more tokens and said "look what I got) we were obsessed with winning tickets ( I kicked his ass again) which was so funny because we went to cash them in for a prize and ended giving them to a little girl and her brother because it was all a bunch of crap... we made that little girl's day and had so much fun in the process.... Do not miss the Deal or No Deal game... so fun....
