Sawgrass Mills is an outlet mall shopper's paradise. With more than 350 stores, you could spend an entire day and probably not get through everything. You could also get easily lost, esp. if you don't have a good sense of direction. It seems like you can go right or left at the end of each wing - it's never-ending!
I try to hit just my favorites - Barney's New York Outlet, Stuart Weitzman, Crate & Barrel, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th, Neiman Marcus Last Call, Ann Taylor, and Banana Republic. Unfortunately I didn't find anything during my last trip :(
Good tip - look for a coupon in one of those Florida tourist magazines to get a coupon book for the Outlets.
This is the outlet mall that I visit at least once a year before or after my cruise!
I really enjoy trying on all the shoes and clothes... checking out sales.. hunting for the best bargains!
I love Sawgrass because it has a mixture of all price level so everyone can be happy!
And after we always go to eat at the Cheesecake Factory.. it now become a yearly ritual for us!
Can't wait to visit again before my December cruise this year!
I wish I had more money to spend.
Huge, high-end factory-store outlet mall. Tommy Bahama. Façonnable. Hugo Boss. Needless Markup. Etc. Its pricey, even for an outlet mall. Valet parking. Beautiful indoor planning. Plenty of seating (for the men holding purses), lots of natural light, tons of restaurants, all surrounded by a tropical setting. Streets named cute kitschy things like Toucan Way. Purple Parrot Drive. White Seahorse Terrace. Ugh. Good thing they had a super Marshalls on the outskirts of this compound or I wouldn't have bought anything.
A wonderful place to stop and shop with over 300 stores. I found all the items I needed, which was maternity apparel, and more. I will certainly visit this location again when in town.
This place is the outlet mall of my dreams. I had no idea there was even such a thing as a Kate Spade or Neiman Marcus outlet. They have some very nice high end places with great deals. I just wish I were a local :(
EVERY STORE you EVER imagine!!! and Discounts GALORE!!!
When in FLORIDA shop here!
If it ain't here, you don't need it. They even have a huge furniture store in there. All stores from really budget level stores to ridiculously expensive ones for the large pretentious crowd....they're all here. And really, for the number of stores contained under this roof (and some stores outside), it wasn't that long to walk a complete lap around.
I scored a couple of awesome sportcoats from Marshalls (which is the best store here in my opinion...it is HUGE) and my wife enjoyed the Disney store, which sells overstocks from Disneyworld.
The main drawback to it, in my opinion, was that parts of it were outside in an awkward fashion which made navigation a little confusing at times. I don't pretend to be a human GPS system but this hybrid did throw me off...plus, who wants to be outside in Miami summer heat?? That's what I go to the mall for...to get OUT of that heat!
All in all though, it's worth a trip if you're in the area and need to do some shopping. Plus, being shaped like an alligator is too cool.
I had a meltdown today at Sawgrass Mills Mall. In the food court to be exact. This place is INSANE. Only to be visited at 9a.m. on a Monday morning if you want to shop in peace. Every family visiting South Florida from Europe or South America was here today, or so it seemed. The crowds are intense on the weekends so if you are like me and work Monday to Friday and the weekend is the only time you have to go, take a couple of patience pills before you go.
BUT...for the serious shopper, this is the place to go. If you have kids, leave them at home, wear comfy clothes and walking shoes, get yourself a shopping cart ($5) and GO. Lots and LOTS of bargains to be had. Get yourself a map from their website the night before and plan your attack because THIS PLACE IS HUGE.
Himself loves to come here for Ralph Lauren, I love the Children's Place ($1.99 for kids shorts....can't even buy a soda most places for that) and Book a Million (where you can leave the madness outside for a few minutes...bookstores are like that).
One of the few discount outlets that actually has affordable merchandise. Gigantic cavern of shops mixed between ritzy/elegant and... well, outlet-ish. Occasional waves of musty, wet-carpet smell and ubiquitous children reminds you that this is very much a family mall. Don't come with too much expectations and you won't be disappointed.
"Let's get some shoes --Betch! " (A really ridiculous Youtube classic was recently boring a hole in my brain. Suddenly , I have to Yelp shoes.) http://www.youtube.com...
But where are the cool shoe stores??? At the Mall? Icky blech! Betch!
I grew up strolling the avenues of Manhattan and shopping for shoes in little boutiques offering unique designs, super-sales, and some soul (pardon the pun.) With the exception of a few hip hop sneaker havens in Miami (The Shoe Gallery,) it looks like browsing the offerings at Sawgrass Mills is the closest thing to a cool shoe stroll - or strut - depending upon your shoe fettish. (Pun intended. Strut Shoes, next to Fettish Factory, is having a going out of business sale - 50% off. So I heard... )
Sawgrass Mills Shoe Betch Picks and Pans:

When it comes to shopping this place is great!
On vacation from L.A. I decided to hit up the factory stores here in M.I.A.
People from L.A. can compare this place to an "Ontario Mills"-on crack!
Custo Barcelona, Forever 21, a MANGO's outlet (I thought that was only a legend!).
Point is this place has everything you're inner bargain fashionista desires.
Juicy Couture, Michael Kors, Barney's, Off of Saks 5th ave, Last call Neiman Marcus, American Apparel.
The list can continue but I rather you go and shop instead.
p.s. Did I mention there's a f*&king Target in this place?
This mall is HUGE. It'd probably take you a whole day to shop here. There's a lot of outlet stores, so you can get your brand name products at a fraction of the price. There's more than one food court for convenience. It's a far drive for me, and since I don't frequent Broward county often, I don't go there a lot. But I'm probably going to make a drive there soon, since I kinda have been wanting to go for a while now.
I'm done with this place. Prices are too high, merchandise is disgusting. Neiman's and Saks only sell Ed Hardy - type crap and some P.O.S. brand called Affliction. Have you ever tried to actually "buy American?" It's completely impossible here. Everything is from China, or, occasionally, Sri Lanka.
We are in a much deeper and scarier recession than I first thought. I wish Obama would have just sent us all a thousand bucks instead of trying the stimulus program out on us.
This is how a mall should be, like a theme park. I remember when they built this place in the mid 90's, it was impressive then, and has only grown through the years with the addition of the outdoor area known as "The Oasis", a movie theater, Rainforest Cafe, and countless other upgrades. This monster mall is shaped like an alligator and has at least two food courts.
The perimeter of the mall is in excess of 3 miles long w/ numerous entrances. I don't know if they still have it, but there used to be an audio clip that played when the door was opened.
"You are now passing the Green Toad Entrance"
For some reason, that quote has been stuck in my brain for 15 years.
The tale of 2 malls. Mall 1- There's the indoor racetrack theme that is unique to many Mills malls which contain cookie cutter, lower-end stores that usually don't offer much in the way of outlet prices. Mall 2 - The Colonnade at Sawgrass, which probably is worthy of its own review because it is high-end, outdoor, pedestrian friendly and aesthetically pleasing shopping experience, in stark contrast to the layout of the regular mall. This looks new and I guess because South Florida does not have a Premium Outlets (and the market is worthy of one) Simon decided to add The Colonnade when they took over MIlls. They have a Crate and Barrel outlet which is always useful, a Hugo Boss, a well stocked Miss Sixty/Energie store, Loro Piana, True Religion, David Yurman. What is nice about the Colonnade is you never have to go inside the general mess that is Sawgrass mills and you can avoid the crowds if you are into a more upscale shopping experience. Well designed and I hope there's a future expansion to bring it up to a Premium Outlet like Woodbury in NYC.
Why yes, thank you little miss hair straightener kiosk lady...of course I would love for you to take away my frizz while you tell me all about the god like powers your product does.
I thought I would just reflect on little miss hair straightener kiosk lady for a little bit...as I don't think she gets enough credit. But apart from her being in this mall...Sawgrass is probably my favorite mall in America. The ridiculous number of designer stores, the large food court, and the pretty outdoor section... What's not to love?
I've never watched that show Lost. But I'm sure the cast would feel right at home here. We got lost a record of 5 times in 30 minutes... Well, not really, but way too many times getting lost in one place. It must have been some kind of record!
This was our first stop after the five hour long mother-drive south. Can you blame us for being a bit disoriented? Lol.
We were looking for a churro place. Yes, I had a churro craving that day. We went to some dude and asked him how long it would take to walk there. 1 hour and 30 minutes was his reply. WHAT? Hahaha. He said we'd be better off driving to it instead of walking. Which we did, but guess what? We walked the WRONG way! hahaha Never did find churro place. Gave up on it and left.
I hear it is 2 and a half miles of shopping, with 200?? or 300?? stores? And my friend from MIA said that was a long time ago when they gave that estimate. Who knows how much more has been added on since then. Mama MIA!
There were some cute stores. Big names like Guess, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, etc. right beside the usual mall stuff like Forever 21 and Charlotte Reusse. Also a lot of outlets for those of us with smaller wallets. And of course the huge department stores, but the ones here are discount stores like Bealls Outlet, Burlington Coat Factory, and SuperTarget.
Ironically I'm not a big shopper and neither is my chick friend who was with me. But we came just for the pure joy of exploring uncharted territory. How many people can say they got lost in a mall of 200+ stores?
So note to all who intend to come here: Please print out a map for this mall before your visit. =D
We actually did buy something while we were here. Some dude in a kiosk was playing with some bizarre furry toy that was moving by itself. Sadly when I got home, my toy wasn't moving. So disappointing... =/
Attn: Discount Shoppers! Sawgrass Mills has all the outlets your hearts could possibly desire. Back in my preppy high school days it was the J Crew outlet that lured me here. 10-15 years later (geez, I'm old!) I came looking for some deals at the Lululemon outlet...and I found plenty to keep myself decked in fancy schmancy workout clothes until my next trip to South Florida.
Lululemon is in the newer section of the mall, which can only be accessed from the outside and there's lots of other good outlet stores to hit up. Some favorites: Tahari, Juicy Couture (although a bit disappointing in the clothing selection), Ralph Lauren, and Theory. All those above mentioned stores are right next to each other so my mom and I were able to do some damage on our credit cards in a just about an hour and be back on the road...
We waited until we got home to eat dinner, but if you should work up an appetite from all that shopping there's plenty of chain restaurants (P.F Changs, Grand Lux, etc) here as well to fill up that tummy.
Dear Sawgrass Mills,
Please stop moving my car around the parking lot so I can't find it when I come out after shopping kthx.
They have good stores here such as Juicy Couture, Michael Kors, Barney's, Off of Saks 5th ave, Last call Neiman Marcus, American Apparel, Forever 21 and just great stores they also have Nordstroms Rack. The mall can get crazy crowded and it's a great outlet mall. They have a mix of budget stores and up to ridculously expencive stores.
sawgrass mills is huge... they pretty much have every store you can think of... they added another section to the mall a few years back and made it even larger... you could litterally go here and shop all day... there are food courts and sit down restaurants here... sawgrass appeals to every shopper at every age and demographic... plenty of parking also... you will not leave this place disappointed... h-100...
This place is definitely not for the person who is an "in-and-out" shopper -- like me. Those who shop for the sheer spot -- even if they don't need anything in particular -- are the ones that need to come here.
On a recent trip, I mainly shopped in the designer section where one can find outlets for Kate Spade, Coach, David Yurman, Barney's, Miss Sixty, Crate and Barrel, St. Johns among others. There were some great deals and finds.
I was forced to go inside the main mall to find J. Crew. That store was so picked over that it was not worth my trip into the mall swarming with kids and large families. (Query: why do all families that shop together insist on walking in a long horizontal line down the corridor? )
Although normally this place would make me break into hives, I brought along a clever shopaholic who spotted great deals and finds for me. She was not at all overwhelmed by the messy table tops, crowded clothing rods or plethora of choices.
If you're looking for a good deal (especially late in the season) and you're not a big shopper -- just bring along a shopaholic friend and you'll get through the experience!
By far the best OUTLET MALL (and the BIGGEST) in America! WIDE VARIETY and the only Achilles heel/Love Hate really is that this "mall" is SO big, but if this intimidates you then I have to say that you are not truly a MARATHON outlet shopper! =P
No school, no work, what to do with my toddler? Go to Sawgrass, that's what.
Consider Sawgrass Mills as a mall on steroids. A Super-Sized shopping destination, if you will.
I always dig up sweet deals at the Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Saks outlets. I also love scouring the racks at the Juicy, Theory, Polo Kids and Barney's stores.
The cherry on top? Lunch at PF Chengs.
I haven't tested the waters at Wannadoo City yet but when I do, I'll be certain to Yelp about it.
I was so excited to see the store list on Sawgrass website because they were all my favorite stores: Juicy Couture, Off 5th, NM Last Call, Miss Sixty, Coach, Tahari, Escada, Ferragamo, to say the least. I learned about Sawgrass from my friend who is a local here and went on a whim with my sister and her friend who are visiting from to UK. It was quite a drive from Miami Beach where our hotel was, but it was well worth the 30-min ride.
Plan to spend at least 4 hours here if you are a true shopper. There are restaurants, snack stands, and vending machines to keep you hydrated and full, and enough stores to burn your pockets so be careful!!
I've read somewhere that Sawgrass is the 2nd largest attraction amongst tourists after Disney, cant remember where though :(
But I can surely agree with that. This mall is not just huge but they've got some quality Outlets, 2 food courts, Movie theater, nice restaurants, very kid-friendly (i take my nephew there quite often to WannaDo, RainForest, GameWorks).
but mostly, lots of Bargains as it is an outlet mall.
The Mall of Malls....you can burn 4000 calories just walking around this ginormaous complex. 350 friggin stores. If you can't find what you are looking for here, give up, it does not exist. There is every store known to man and food everywhere. Humans can live at this mall and never want for anything. If you have not been just go....you will not f'in beleive it. Insider tip: pretend to be talking on your cell phone when you pass the kiosks with the douchebags trying to get your attention to sell you crap. Also you can legally kick the shit out of one of the idiots of your choice.....one per day that is.....just kidding on that last tip!!!
I love Sawgrass Mills!
They have a lot higher-end designer outlets like Salvatore Ferragamo, David Yurman, Burberry, Coach, Hugo Boss, Off 5th, Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom Rack.
There is even a Target (not an outlet) at this mall.
You will work up an appetite walking around for so long. So make sure to try out one of the restaurants nearby. There are a few restaurant options in the mall so you don't have to eat at the food court if you don't want to (and who ever really wants to?). There are several restaurants just outside of the mall (in the parking lot) if you want to avoid the mall crowd.
Worst mall in South Florida PERIOD. Parking sucks, place smells like wet carpet and vomit. Parking is a nightmare and its packed with tourists. Nordstrom Rack though has awesome deals and is the only place to shop at. Its right across from the Cheesecake Factory.
B.F.T. aka Big Friggin Target! All of the stuff of a regular target with a grocery store inside. The food brands are different then most South Fla grocery stores but you'll likely find a similar brand.
Besides, it's cool to get a new pair of flip flops, tube for my bicycle tire and a half gallon of milk all in one stop.
One has to be in the mood to shop in order to tolerate the crowds here on a wkend. This place is enormous, almost too big. Definitely wear walking shoes! It has a great variety from discount low- end to the high-end stores. I must say that it does take quite a bit of patience and time to sift thru stuff at factory outlets, and generally is a hit or miss with finding quality bargains. I was lucky or perhaps unlucky depending on how one looks at it... I found a ton of fine clothing marked 40-50% off. SO needless to say I loved it.
The outside of the mall was gorgeous, but the inside was pretty drab. The shop selection was really good though. It's a really big mall, and we only got through about half of it. It's unfortunate I'm from out of town, but I highly recommend a trip to Sawgrass if you're in the Ft. Lauderdale area.
It's one of our favorite places to go hang out and just walk around, look at people, window shop, maybe catch a good sale here or there and a bite to eat. It is ABSOLUTELY NOT the place for an in and out kinda shopper.
This in my opinion is the best mall in South Florida!!! It has visually everything you can imagine is there. It has a lot a factory outlets that is awesome if you like to buy designer brands at less :D
Also it a very very big mall! There is more then 150 stores the best mall ever I love it!!! Its a must go if you are a tourists or your first time in South Florida...
Back when I went to school in Miami Sawgrass Mills was my favorite mall!!! From what I can remember it's an outlet mall and because it's florida, when it's sunny out it's PERFECT! It has pretty much any and everything you need store-wise and a movie theater to boot.
It's def. the mall I miss the most!!!
Best Place ever!!! i thought i died and went to heaven!!! it's so big that you cant see it all in one day but you can always try!! prices unbeatable....
Oh Sawgrass, how you've grown and changed. I've been going to this mall since it first opened years ago, and it's definitely not the same place. Between the outdoor section and the extra loopy bit, it's not quite the same. And it's been cleaned and generally is trying to be a little more upscale, I guess. Which isn't a bad thing. It's really the mall I judge all others by, and it's a tough standard to live up to. It's easy to navigate, being a single level with few deviations from a straight shot from end to end. There's pretty much everything there, including my beloved Kohr Brothers custard. Sadly, I couldn't find a Gators magnet, so that was not cool.
Like a squirrel preparing for winter, I could nab all my necessities in this super-sized mall and more. Back "in the day", I would go here for a yearly "back to school" shopping marathon: shoes, jeans, shirts, they got everything here! I even got my high school prom dress at this place (Group USA if you were asking!).
Unlike Dolphin Mall, the number of 3rd party stores are limited, most of the occupied stores are from brand name companies and have been here for awhile.
*The best thing about this mall is the sheer number of sneakers/shoes you can score, sooo many styles...The Off Broadway store in the outdoor section is the best shoe warehouse!
J.Crew, Gap, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor Loft, Kenneth Cole, Adidas, Nike, and Puma have outlets here. The luxe outlet section has Coach, Burberry, Saks Co-op, Nordstrom's, etc.
You won't leave here disappointed.
To go here during the Christmas shopping season is murder.
this mall is awesome it has billions of stores and kiosks and it has tons of outlet stores its also got billions of different kinds of food to eat from bk to Japanese sushi they have got it here and there is a huge super target so if you are like totally like you know like a shopper than this is like definitely the mall for you duh!
One hell of a mall. This is America's 3rd largest mall anyways (although the ranking is consistently changing), if I remember right. If you come here, expect an all day affair. Maybe half day. But no less.
I second the guy that said not to bring your wife!
40 minutes drive from downtown Miami. Maybe not worth the trek if there are the same stores closer by you. Still, everybody comes here as it is a major mall well known all over South Florida.
But if you're a tourist going to Miami, I rather just make the trip to Dolphin Mall - it's smaller, but nicer and has a lot of the same stores and better food options that's not the run-of-the-mill choices you can find outside of South Florida.
