A cozy cafe you can easily miss except through recommendations by others.  This cafe was recommended by my bf's old roomie.  Surprisingly, I've liked everything I had there.  There are so many Thai-Japanese fusion restaurants all over Miami that it is hard to decide on which ones to try.

This by far is my favorite Thai-Japanese fusion one.  I haven't really tried the sushi here. I've only tried their Thai dishes. I've tried their mussaman curry, green curry, and jumping shrimp (not sure of the name but very good).

The jumping shrimp is a dish consisting of shrimp mixed with either lime or tamarind.....it has a perfect combination of flavor. I love this dish.  I always have it when I'm here. I haven't tasted anything comparable anywhere else and I am disappointed when I try it other places.

I also love the mussaman curry here. I rarely eat mussaman curry but I like it here. The price for food here is above average.

Loved this hole in the wall thai joint.  The owner (Paul) is so nice, he came over and chatted with us, said that he moved to the states only 3 years ago, so I knew the food was going to be good.  He gave us a free green tea ice cream sundae, which was delicious... but here I am getting ahead of myself.

We ordered the steamed shumai dumplings and the tom yum kun soup to start.  While the dumplings were sub par and not hot enough (hence 4 stars), the soup was to die.  The broth was the perfect balance of ginger and lemongrass spices, and thumbs up for the big pieces of shrimp.    We then had a red curry dish with pork and the pad kee mao noodles - we cleaned our plates entirely.  Seriously, I would have licked the plate if I wasn't so stuffed.

Intimate environment + kind staff + authentic thai flavors = reliable neighborhood thai spot.  The prices could be a bit more reasonable, but I really shouldn't complain about cost if the food is good and the portions are generous.

The Tom Ka Gai was really disappointing - we had to send it back.  The soup tasted as if they just poured coconut milk in a bowl and threw some stuff on top. The Tom Yum Kung(Goon) soup was too sweet and had no heat - they went crazy with the palm sugar and forgot the Thai chili peppers. Come on people I know this is Florida but you're serving Thai food - what happened to at least some mild heat?

I give them two stars because The Pad See Ew and Pad Thai were better but not the best I have had in Miami.  At the prices they charge I was expecting something better or at least bigger portions. If you have experience with Thai food you will agree that this place is unfortunately lacking.  I would say it's worth a try if you stick to things other than the soups but I would not recommend you going out of your way. It's a shame because this place has all the makings to be such a great place - a small hidden space run by a family - just wished they put some love into their food.

Tip: Lunch specials are not honored during weekends!

I shared a Tom Yum Kung ($6) and a Massaman curry entree ($15) with my girlfriend. Oddly I was full but she was not. Rice is extra but the single bowl that accompanies the entree was plenty. The soup has a distinct taste that's different from other Thai restaurants, my girlfriend described it as "too sweet". You get five medium sized shrimps. The entree was very good, plenty of chicken and nuts as well as onions and peppers. I highly recommend this Thai restaurant.

In search of adventure (a.k.a, eating somewhere new) we drove off on Sunday night with no direction in mind. At about 9:50pm, the car took us to 79th street causeway, and as we drove nothing caught our attention, until we drove right past Swaddee and decided to turn around and give it a try.

The places is super small. Three two-person tables, and two four-person tables, plus two bistro tables outside. Very quaint, and the service was quick and attentive.

We both settled on the green curry - me medium spicy w/tofu, Em's mild with chicken; and a JB roll for an appetizer. The roll was good, but Emilio commented it wasn't fresh, I usually can't tell, so I'll defer to his opinion. My curry was very spicy, so I'd definitely get the mild next time so I can enjoy the taste better. The portions were very large, and though Em ate most of his plate, I probably took more than half home with me - It kept well, and made for a great re-heated dinner last night!

I loved how quaint this little cafe/restaurant was, but I wouldn't say it's become my fave thai/sushi destination. Not sure we'll be back as it is out of our way, but if you're in the neighborhood, definitely give it a go!

* There is meetered parking in the alley next to the restaurant, and the meeters are free after 6pm.

I'm still surprise that all of you yelpers out there, did not know Sawaddee.
Really nice small place off the road (so you have to look for it).

I know that give 5 stars is a little bit to much, but every time that I went there I have great food, excellent service, even the chef came to the table to see if we need help with the order and to check if everything was good.

I have to say one thing about this place, and I hope you will understand: Is food that make you feel good. I went there in different set of mind (stress/depress/sad), and I feel happy after.

I have great and very cheap lunch there (like $5. and even left over for diner!)

What else can you ask to a place.

It's small enough for a lunch/diner alone, or a date an if is a nice day, a great place to sit outside with friends.

So, stop reading and GO!

I went here because it's close to home. The service was fast and friendly...I ordered take-out because the place was packed.....When I got my food home I was disappointed to find they had burnt some of my noodles and tofu. I'm going to give them another try though, other than being slightly burnt, the flavors were good. And they actually made my dish spicy like I asked. I think I'll give them another whirl tonight, look for an update soon!,

I just dropped a star. I did go back for dinner tonight, and my food was not good at all. It was bland. Plus, I don't eat meat and there were pieces of pork throughout my dish....so either they don't clean their utensils etc  between dishes or they just don't really care if various ingredients get into the wrong dishes....

This is my all time favorite restaurant.  The food is amazing, always fresh.  The Thai dishes are great!!  The best thing is the service, you feel like you hired your own personal chef at home.  Very welcoming and the owners have even become our friends on a personal level.  Very romantic and small.  We found this place a couple years back and haven't stopped going regardless of the distance, its very worth it.  ALso a big plus is that its BYOB!!  You can't beat the price and its top notch quality.  A very hidden gem.
