This place is a great place for brunch. I was craving avocados and omelette one morning so I came here and got the Coronado Omelette (avocados, cheddar cheese, black beans, salsa, and sour cream). DELICIOUSSSS!!!!! :9 *drool*
Another plus for a huge glass of mimosa for 5 bucks and for their back patio seating areas. Absolutely gorgeous when the sun's out.
3 stars is a little harsh, this place was more like a 3.5 but to be honest, being a brunch snob/whore, I hold my 4 star brunch venues in high regard.
That said, my eggs scramble was solid. Nothing out of the ordinary but not disappointing. Service..same as the food. In fact, that would probably be the overall assessment of this place - Ordinary but not disappointing.
I'd say more but, to be honest, since this place shouldn't be making it on anyone's list..it doesn't matter.
It had been years since I've been to Savor, I was looking for a place to brunch with my Sister and her family and they suggested Savor.
We got there and there was a line, but they offer complimentary coffee while you wait. Brilliant! It was Halloween and most of the staff had some sort of costume on, which was cute. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive to our table.
I ordered a Mimosa which came in a large glass, very happy with that. I love my Mimosas, especially big ones.
For Breakfast I ordered the Louisiana Eggs Benedict, which which was a crabcake eggs bene with a spicy holindaise that was oh-so-tasty. My sister had the Eggs Blackstone and it was truly fresh and yummy. Her fiance went for the Huevos Rancheros, which looked awesome.
The restaurant was very kid friendly, my nephew ordered what he wanted and was really happy about his eggs and potatoes.
I'll be back for breakfast here, the crepes looked fantastic and I'm not really a crepe person. Cant wait to try the other items on the menu.
If you ever had to wait and wait and wait here on weekends to get a table, you will understand the reason for three stars. The food is just fine and fresh, but nothing extremely extraordinary. This is why it is difficult for me to give this place more than three stars.
The typical breakfast/brunch fare is good. I get the French toast. Omelets are good, but ordinary. Coffee is good. The wait staff is friendly, although last time we were here, they seemed annoyed. May be because it was a lot of people waiting.
I recommend you get a table on the patio. I have also been here for lunch and the salads are pretty decent.
I love coming here for breakfast during the week! The $5 mimosas are awesome b/c they are so big and I love everything that's big b/c I'm that kind of a girl....anyway the food here is kinda big too.
The crepes are great because they have a salad with them and it's hard to find a salad for breakfast anywhere. Plus they are full of flavor from all of the interesting ingredients in the crepes. Boy Toy Andre likes the Tuscany.
Service here is always always excellent.
I love being able to sit outside in the garden patio when the weather is conducive ...which is always a plus here in SF.
I love me some brunch so when KTPower says "get up, let's go get some brunch," it doesn't take me long to thrown on some jeans and a hoodie and get out the door!
We had walked by Savor a few weeks back and took a look at their menu and decided that it was our kind of place. So much so, I think before we sat down we knew what we were going to have!
Well, you know there is going to be a wait but the girls that take down your name couldn't be any happier to make sure they take care of you. Give them your name, grab a cup of joe and head outside and wait for them to call your name. When they do, be ready to order because you don't want to miss out on anything the Savor chefs are cooking up!
Start with the cornbread and jalapeno jelly - two thick slices of toasted cornbread that you smear with a gooey jelly that makes the bread pop in your mouth. A perfect starter to go with your mocha.
I am a crepe fan and the Santa Fe option is a tasty one in my book. Just the right amount of applewood chicken sausage, cheese and salsa fresca for my taste. KTPower had the Sunset pancakes - three huge cakes loaded up with pumpkin and spice flavoring. A good choice but I would have preferred that the syrup be served hot to really bring out the flavors these cakes held inside of them.
Savor is 5 stars all the way. Great service. Great brunch. Great outdoor patio. Enjoy!
I feel bad, because I didn't la-la love this place. It was recommended to me by the woman I rented an apartment from for the weekend. Her recommendation for Bi-Rite Creamery was spot on, too.
I need some grub before I boarded the plane back to LA and I didn't really want to eat the same place twice.
This is a deceptively large place. It's very nicely laid out and if it was a warm day, I'm sure sitting outside is lovely. There was a weird vibe, though. I can't put my finger on it, but after days of being in San Francisco and having people be friendly, I was taken aback by how detached the staff seemed.
All of the sandwiches have names of different Central/Northern areas. Charming? I don't know. I got the one with chicken, pesto, red onions, tomatoes and lettuce. It was good and I didn't have indigestion afterwards. (No small feat.)
Would I come back? Well, I would have to come back with someone local and see if the vibe was just me coming down off a high of getting mad love from SF.
Standard pan-European/pan-American a little bit of everything fare. Nothing too special or worth returning for. Except for the patio in the back. Which is pretty nice to sit in. I suggest you minimize your food spending while enjoying the open air.
Crepes and more. The more = Breakfast at anytime. Entrees start around $10.00 and range to about $20.00. Crepes and Breakfast are in the lower stratosphere of $10.00.
The service was friendly and kept our water glasses filled.
What was consumed.
Santa Fe
Tuscany
There were no complaints with either and I would order them again.
There is no better way to cap off a great weekend than with a wonderful Sunday brunch at your favorite breakfast bistro.
And, Savor in Noe Valley is my place.
My fiancé and I love brunch and quickly fell head over heels in love with Savor. It is quaint, the service is impeccable, the wait time is minimal (and even if not, love spending the time shopping in all the boutiques on the street!) the milieu is warm and the food .. well, is perfect. The omelets are cooked to perfection and they use Aidells sausage, along with other local brands. I love their mimosas and the pumpkin pancakes .. we try to cap off every wonderful weekend with a brunch at Savor!
Trust me, after one cozy Sunday brunch, you will fall in love too!
Rules for enjoying breakfast at Savor, especially for those of us who do not like waiting, crowds or lots of loudness.
1. Go on a weekday morning
2. Make that a weekday morning with some sun (not hard in Noe Valley)
3. Sit out on the back patio with or with out the space heater thingy on
4. Order on empty stomach cuz the portions really are HUGE.
5. Proceed to get ridiculously well fed and full
6. Order one of Savor's signature giant muffins to go
Lather, rinse, repeat as necessary.
The good:
-Lots of options
-Great back patio
The bad:
-Our server was non-existent. We only saw him when he took our order and gave us the check. And we were there when it was not that busy.
-Huge, obscene portions
-Food is mediocre
The ugly truth:
-There are better options within walking distance
Wow... how on earth could this place have a 3 1/2 avg. star rating? We are in San Francisco, land of delicious brunch! And this place is seriously anything but that.
1. The service SUCKS. Like, never filled our water once, didn't even ask us what we wanted forever, totally sucks.
2. The bf got an omelet with sausage cheese and mushroom. And not only was there a HAIR IN HIS FOOD, but the cheese was totally bland and the whole thing was just a big flavorless fat-filled disaster.
3. I got granola with yogurt and berries. The granola was total crap (seriously I've gotten better (way better) from Costco), the plain yogurt was probably the cheapest they could get, and the strawberries (which were the only berries in it) were mushy. They even went in there and cut out little bits of the strawberries where they were particularly nasty. I mean how gross is that?!
There are so many delicious brunch places (just walk down the street for heaven's sake!) so do NOT waste your brunch calories on this place or else you, like me, will leave in a horribly sour deliciousness-deprived mood.
Scenario: Anytime I want breakfast in Noe Valley.
Product: Where do I start? They have delicious, fluffy omelettes full of veggies. They have crepes, both breakfast and dessert. They serve up some damn fine scrambles. They also have pumpkin spice pancakes. And the breakfasts are always huge. So basically, I'm getting TWO really good meals 'cause they're always happy to box it up for you. There is a wine menu, though I've never tried any there.
Service: Well, they're a bit slow to be honest. It takes awhile to get your order and a little while longer for the food to show up. And a little long for the check to arrive. But throughout the meal they're attentive. This is really keeping it from 5 stars...
Atmosphere: Eat Toast down the street is always packed but this place has outdoor patio seating in the back so there's usually no problem getting seated. But let me make this clear: if you're going to bring your kid here put them on a leash! I'm so tired of Noe Valley moms with their damn strollers and greyhounds letting their kids run amuck around the resteraunt while they pontificate about yuppidome. Luckily, it's not as bad here as most other resteraunts in the area. Parking is not so good in this neighborhood but it's a nice walk from the J or bus (48 methinks).
Uniquity: The food is SO good you have to come here. And if you come on a Sunday morning you don't have to deal with nearly as many Noe youth;)
This is it--the epicenter of the Noe Valley brunch scene. (Or was, anyway, before that upstart Toast place took over. Explain to me again why they need two locations in one neighborhood?) Now while they certainly didn't skimp on the decorator (it's as glossy-beige as a Mexican resort in here), Savor is actually pretty casual at heart, sort of a Squat & Gobble on steroids. The back patio is certainly the place to be (bonus props for having a pedestrian alley and storefronts *on* the patio...very Euro-Urban). And it's so massive that there was only a nominal wait on a warm Sunday morning.
Now about the food. They've got a long but fairly typical lineup--sweet and savory crepes, omelettes, benedicts, and a few token pancakes and french toasts. And while the portions are large and all the right ingredients are there, somehow the flavor just doesn't click. So unless you've got your heart set on the sunny patio or the stroller crowd, I'd stick to Crepevine or S&G.
I ordered the pacific sandwich , it was full of flavor , fresh and not too heavy! The waiter was constantly refilling my water and I didn't feel abandoned! Loved it only thing is parking is terrible in this area
It always seems to be a dilemma whenever I have to go eat somewhere with my father and sister, when I'm the odd vegan out.
We stopped by the place that my sister and I are moving into in Noe Valley and then proceeded to walk around for quite a few minutes before settling on Savor. It turned out there were a few things I could eat and I ended up ordering the Bangkok salad but substituting tofu for chicken. The salad was quite good. Mixed greens with red onions, peanuts, lots and lots of tofu, all topped off with a spicy lemongrass vinaigrette. I felt like it could have used more veggies and a little less lettuce, but it was still good. What I really liked was the fact that the tofu was cubed and was firm. I've been to plenty of places (even Herbivore) where I add tofu to something and it's just too soft. Bravo on that one, Savor.
I also ordered a side of house potatos which were alright.
The reason for 3 stars would be the lack of variety for my own sake and the price of the salad. My salad was huge and was $10.25. For the size of the salad, I guess I could justify the price. There's definitely a chance I could be back, but I definitely want to see that I could do better in Noe Valley.
My dad ordered a salad with salmon on it, and my sister ordered a crepe with eggplant and artichokes. My dad really liked his salmon and my sister liked her crepe.
The food here is decent. It's kind of like a nicer Crepevine where you don't have to order at the register, you sit down and someone waits on you. The crepes are pretty delicious, especially the sweet crepes. A good place to go for brunch.
great food! CRAZY large portions.
could get loud- very family friendly (kids) and food is good.
Savor is a fairly safe bet if you happen to be in Noe Valley and want to grab breakfast/brunch.
Pros
- menu offers lots of choices: omelets, benedicts, sweet and savory crepes, sandwiches, salads, etc
- huge portions
- great outdoor seating area in the back
Cons
- I've been here a few times and nothing here has really stood out to me.
- The wait can be long depending on when you go.
In my opinion, there are better breakfast options in the area...try Toast Eatery a few doors down.
Really good variety for a breakfast place. You will have to wait on the weekends, but if you coming with a few people then I am sure everyone will find something that they want.
If I could give it 3.5 I would, because I think Brenda's is better. This place is better for a more standard breakfast joint.
Post San Francisco Marathon (first half), we walked into a just opening, but already bustling restaurant serving the early brunch crowd. After 13.1 miles, I wanted something tasty and that's what I got.
If you love corned beef hash, you definitely have to try their El Paso. Most places will have some tired excuse for corned beef atop some potatoes. Not here! You get some of the good stuff - corned beef from that looks like it came straight off the brisket, large chunks of red and green peppers, onions, and of course, served with a side of home fries. They also add some cheese at the very bottom that melts and becomes awesome goodness when you mix it all together with a bit of pepper and tobasco. *drool* And hey, you can't forget your eggs - two any style. I like mine over medium so you can crack the yolk into the goodness below.
My girlfriend got the Coronada - an omelette with avacado, cheddar, and onions served with black beans, salsa, and sour cream. Different? Yes! Tasty? Surprisingly! Who would've though avacados would do so well in an omelette?
Portion size was huge... if I hadn't ran so much, I probably would've felt more guilty eating that whole plate (see pics). Would definitely come again to try other things... their benedict options looked pretty tempting =P
The only thing I liked the place is the friendly service.
First off they pretend that they have Bloody Marys but don't be fooled because they do not. Unless you ask you'll order one and be served a soju and tomato juice abomination. The only reason I found out is because I asked if they had any pepper vodka.
I ordered something called the "New Orleans", It's an eggs benedict style dish with crab cakes and "cajun sauce". The English muffins were soggy, the crab cakes were salty, and the "cajun sauce" had no bite at all. The eggs were under cooked. I can cook eggs at home so when I go to a restaurant I expect them to nail it. The yolk should be runny but the white should be solid, these eggs had all kinds of clear undercooked white squirting out every time I took a bite. The eggs were the worst part but the potatoes were also hard and undercooked.
While I was there someone ordered a burger that looked amazing so I'm willing to try them again for lunch.
When I lived in San Diego, I volunteered at the sport stadiums for fundraisers. Once I made quesadillas at the Rubio's stand. At first, I thought more = better. Eventually I realized too much cheese = grease slide as the cheese consolidated back and the poor tortilla became a grease napkin.
And this is what breakfast here is like. Maybe it's just me, but their breakfast is a bit too greasy to be good. Omelets, crepes, beef hash; I always end up asking why I ate here. Oh yeah, my bf really likes this place. So I never wanted to review this place before.
Then, I came here for dinner. Much different experience. I ordered the braised boneless short ribs ($18)-delicious! I love braised meats. How can one not like juicy meat that falls apart with the touch of a fork? It came with baby squash and garlic mashed potatoes. My bf got the cioppino ($19). It's a bit spicy so be careful if you're sensitive to spicy foods. My initial thought on seeing chicken on the menu was "How boring". But the person next to me ordered it and it looked delicious. So get it if you're in a chicken mood. Fairly large portions, but it better be for the price. They also charge $1/person for SF Health.
Breakfast here on the weekend is extremely noisy and crowded. Dinner here around 6pm on the weekday was nice and quiet.
Big on crepes so I gotta love this place. Local spot near my apartment. I'd only knock it that it feels very commercial. Lacks that local SF flavor. Everything just seems very BJ's & Mimi's Cafe in there.
But the food is good. Generous portions, everyone working there is real friendly. Pricing to match.
I'm the kind of guy that get's hooked on a favorite dish at a restaurant. For example, the lamb shewerma at truly med, or the turkey cranberry sandwich at specialties. Sometimes I think that there should be an option to Yelp a dish instead of an establishment....
Anyway, it's the Bangkok Salad for me at Savor. I'm sure that they have tons of other tasty dishes up in there. I don't care. Give me the Bangkok salad cause it's too good to pass up. Someday I may figure out how to make that one at home and Savor may have to make some cut-backs due to my absence.
My friends and their baby, Claire (a big flirt with the servers). took me here this morning for brunch! They had so many California-inspired omelettes, house specials and savory crepes on the menu it was hard to decide!! But one of the egg scramble dishes, Provance, with fresh salmon with spinach, onions and goat cheese caught my eye.
It was absolutely delicious and came with a bagel, a generous servings of home potatoes! One of my friends had Mazatlan crepe with sliced avocado, tomatoes, sharp cheddar cheese and chipotle peppers with salsa fresca and sour cream.
From the outside, Savor looks tiny, but once you cross its threshold, it opens up to a very spacious restaurant complete with a fireplace in the back and a private courtyard that I'm sure is just fabulous in the summer. I look forward to my next visit to this ever-so-charming and lovely Noe Valley neighborhood.
Came here after running the Emerald Across the Bay 12K. Needless to say, my friend and I were famished. We were around the Noe Valley area and asked another friend who was meeting us to hold a spot at a nearby place. Savor was a place we'd heard of but had never gone to.
Like many SF places on a Sunday early afternoon, Savor was crowded. There was a line out the door about a dozen long. The place can seat about 60 indoors and another 40 or so in backyard covered patio area. They had a few heatlamps in the back to make it comfortable in the slightly chill after the rain.
Based on Yelp reviews, this place is all about omelettes and crepes. My friend ordered an SF crepe with salmon and dijon on the side. She enjoyed it and was only able to finish half. She happily took the rest home for tomorrow's lunch at work. I had a Mazatlan crepe (see photo) and added chicken. It was very good but in retrospect I should have gotten something less familiar, because it seemed like a quesadilla. This isn't a bad thing, but like I said I should have tried something unfamiliar. The home fries were good and crispy and not overly seasoned. The OJ was from Odwalla.
The service was very good considering how busy it was. I was deliberating between and 3 and 4 but when it boils down to it the place was very good, had good service, had friendly staff, and justified the slightly stiff price (about $10/entree) and the wait outside.
For some reason this place is always busy. The food is average at best. I really wanted to like this place and have gone at least 10 times ordering different meals. I love Noe Valley for weekend brunch, but probably won't be returning to Savor if Toast can seat me faster. The eggs benedict dishes are pretty good, and that's about it. If you do make it out to Noe Valley for breakfast and end up at Savor, don't miss out on the freshly baked muffins!
This is a great brunch place for a Sunday post church brunch. Tucked away in the heart of Noe Valley, Savor is light, spacious and accommodating for larger parties.
I ordered the same Rio Grande, eggs scramble as last time, it's just too good! The portions are huge and I have another half plate left over- dinner tonight!
I did find a small piece of hair in the food - not good, but I know it happens to all of us occasionally so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and subtracted 1-star for it.

Savor is the perfect brunch place on the hottest saturday of the year!

I was really craving brunch.. so my friend took me here.. we got here at like 5pm! (he takes forever + a day to get ready) so it was basically dinner..
i got a eggs benedict with smoked salmon.. it was good but towards the end the salmon got really salty.. i got a mimosa with it too but that was not good.. champagne tasted funny..
one thing i did really like that i didnt think i would was the toast with jalapeno jelly.. =)
I ordered the Bangkok salad, it was perfect. Especially on a lazy afternoon in the back outdoor patio.
The salad was a great combination of curry and ginger marinated chicken breast tenders on a salad of field greens with caramalized cashews and ginger dressing.
This is a great place with lounge about and have a great lunch and conversation with friends.
I've been here for every major eating occasion throughout the day (save 4th Meal) and never been disappointed. The first time I came here was with the g'rents, and granted this was after a dinner at Elephant Bar (think upgraded Dennys -- a place the seniors love), but the food was (mostly) delicious. I had the pesto chicken crepe with homefries and small salad on the side, and it was more than enough for two meals. The entrees are better than the sides in my opinion, but that's what you're paying for, right?
While definitely great for any meal, this place specializes in brunch and lunch, but don't count it out on a nice evening. They have a heated outdoor area which is very quiet at night and can be a great place to take a date to feel like you're the only ones at the restaurant (well, you probably will be, but still). The patio is a great place to sit for brunch, though, to enjoy that fresh, clean Noe Valley air.b
A friend aptly calls this neighborhood the land of strollers and dogs. I call it Rockridge, West.
This is a solid breakfast joint, that fully accommodates for strollers and dogs in a huge back covered patio.
The breakfast food was OK - easy to navigate on the menu, appealing-looking, and large in the portions. Potatoes did not please, unfortunately. Eggs were wonderfully fluffy but lacking in flavor - so camouflaged in my particular instance with a drowning of beans and cheese. Good hangover food.
Great people watching, despite certain monochromatic (in the stroller and dogs sense) qualities. Friendly service.
Who knew that Savor had such a large dining area? Which makes it a good spot to meet friends with strollers, car seats and babies:)
I've stopped in a couple of times and the food has been good and basic. I've had the french toast which was a basic toast with a good cinnamon flavor. I've also had the omelet with black beans, salsa, sour cream and avocado. It sounded like a dream but was just ok. I think it lacked flavor and the portion was huge. I've also tasted the New Orleans benedict and was underwhelmed by the lack of flavor.
This is a basic breakfast place, but I heard the salads and lunches are better. I'll be back to give the lunch menu a try soon!
My rating is focused on lunch--it would be 3 stars if I included breakfast--big portions, small on favor--BUT, lunch is a different story (still big portions though). I have had all the chicken sandwiches there and they were all great and flavorful; my favorite lunch selection is the salmon sandwich--the Pacific. YUMMY! The back patio is great especially if you have a stroller and the servers are awesome and accommodating. It is a nice treat.
Huge portions are definitely a plus at Savor if you went out a little too hard the night before. I had the Kyoto crepe (tofu + veggies prepared with Japanese flavors), it was good, but I probably wouldn't order it again. The restaurant is deceivingly big with a great outdoor patio in back.
Yum.E. Breakfast /Brunch spot
Amazing soy chorizo omelet and my roommate devoured her tofu scramble.
Totally worth the trip way out in the BFE, otherwise known as Noe Valley.
I went to Savor with a group of friends, and was definitely pleased. A short wait, for a group of five, gave us plenty of time to walk down the block and stop into some really neat shops.
The service was great, we had a really great waiter who was friendly and constantly checked on us.
The menu has an array of sweet and savory. For those who like both, sharing is not a problem, as the portions are enough to share around and still get your own fix. The crepes are amazing, the potatoes too. The mimosas are well worth it too, especially if you like getting the most alcohol for your dollar.
More than just the food, the atmosphere is awesome. I recommend eating outside, a bit chilly in the shade, but otherwise a pleasant experience.
We went on a Monday, 11 am. At first it didn't look like many people were there, but it was because they were all seated in the back. The portions were large. Mom had an Omlette with spinach, mushrooms and sausage. I had the corned beef hash which was awesome. Real corn beef, not the mushy stuff from a can. It was nice and tender. Not greasy as some places are. Reasonable prices and helpful staff made for an enjoyable meal.
