Marcy has her heart and soul in the organization she started some 13 years ago. Nestled in a cozy home in Mill Valley, this no-kill bunny rescue is run by a tireless few who keep things spotless and clean and make sure bunnies to the homes they deserve.
I visited here for the first time on December 31st and left with a wonderful little 14 month old bunny named Oliver Soul. I never thought a bunny would make a great pet until recently and now I'm hooked!
Thanks Marcy for adopting out Oliver Soul on New Year's Eve and for running a great organization helping the bunnies. -

They save Bunnies. They are all volunteer.
Not sure how anyone could give them a bad review, even if things did not go as you planned. Remember, they save bunnies.
Great Group. Great people. Very easy to work with. -

I went on a mission to rescue a bunny and ended up on Save A Bunny's website. A lot of the stories are heartbreaking, you should really take the time to browse their site. I ended up making an appointment to meet some of the rabbits and fell absolutely in love with a gorgeous bunny Piper (now Bon Bon).
Marcy is DEFINITELY the Bunny Whisperer, and you can tell she has such a great knowledge base. She chose Bon Bon as the first bunny for me to meet, and Bon Bon is definitely my bunny match. She is the bunny version of ME!
The rescue is also unbelievably clean, and the rabbits all look well taken care of. You can tell Marcy is passionate about her vision and is devoted to her mission. I don't understand some of the previous reviews, and I really believe that Marcy just wants to make sure the rabbits go to the right place.
So, Bon Bon has settled into my apartment nicely. She has unlimited hay, Romaine lettuce daily, and gets her beautiful coat brushed. She also gets to roam around my apartment everyday and man, is she curious. However, give her a toilet paper roll (without the toilet paper, of course) and she's happy for at least an hour.
It is a commitment if you are considering adopting a bunny, as rabbits live for many years, but I think it is a commitment worth having. They are easy to care for and easy to love :) -

My boyfriend and I adopted a handsome black lionhead bunny (originally Omar, now Lars Leonard Omar) from Marcy a few weeks ago.
We were really impressed with the whole adoption process. We met 8 different rabbits and took the time to get to know each of their personalities. During the matching process Marcy gave us the whole run-down on rabbit care and psychology. It was very informative (even for a second-time rabbit owner) and she was straight-forward in stating that Omar/Lars was the best match for us. We agreed!
Overall really happy with the adoption. We took a couple days to consider and did not feel rushed into making it. We were provided with a discount coupon to Pet Food Express (conveniently a few blocks from where we live) which helped us get started with supplies.
We ended up with a very sweet, healthy, and clever bunny. He has great hair, too! -

I was there being matched / looking at rabbits at the same time as the previous poster. Despite this and being extremely busy that day with other things, they allowed me to stay there from 12:30-5pm meeting 10 or so bunnies and meeting a few a second time.
They were very thorough and yes, critical, of ppl adopting or fostering; this was very much appreciated! It's good to know they care about the welfare of their rabbits rather than just trying to get rid of the rabbits and making space. I've been to humane societies and shelters where they do not spend much time, if any, making the perfect match. SaveABunny shines on this; I ended up with the first two bunnies they chose for me to meet even though they were NOT what I wanted when I walked in (pls don't tell my bunnies!).
As for the charges and asking for donations, they are very upfront and do not hide the costs. If a bunny needs extra care than normal, they will tell you. Anything that runs on donations will usually ask for some but no one there was ever pushy. I did end up donating but it was more like paying for their great service - helping a first time owner through the ins and out of owning a bunny. Hope I don't see mailings every few months asking for a donation though!
One minor negative is the general vibe that ppl there are the animal activists type versus regular animal lovers. Actually, I feel this is the case for many rabbit owners/lovers. That said, no one asked of my personal beliefs/practices, imposed their views, or tried to convert me into eating only rabbit food =). -

SAVE A BUNNY, BITCHES!!!!
Foster or adopt a rescued bunny rabbit. Honestly, I fucking love dogs but nothing and i mean NOTHING is cuter than a baby bunny rabbit. I got to hold a bunny at an adoption event recently and man, i wanted to squeeze that bunny until she exploded! kinda like a mom who shakes their baby to death because they are so filled with homicidal rage. except by homicidal rage i mean, PURE BUNNY LOVE and by death i mean, ponies. You get the idea.
Adopt a bunny or give them all your money. Ooh...and you can buy tote bags with the bunnies acting out the seven deadly sins on their website. the lust one? can't say that i'm not turned on*.

Yeah, I get that a rabbit isn't the most common pet people have, but once you get one (or four) you become enchanted by their personalties and begin to brag about their litter box skills and how stinking cute they can be. SaveABunny is the place to go to learn all about how to live with a rabbit in your house or apartment and get really educated about your pet before you adopt (why can't people do the same thing with children?). It is also a fun place to volunteer.
You can help with gardening, grooming, outreach events and cleaning (which as a princess, I can tell you actually isn't so bad!). They also always have a stash of chocolate lying around for volunteers to eat (a bonus).
The best part about this organization is you are helping animals that need homes due to stupid people who were too lame to be responsible pet parents which inevitably puts you in the lottery to not go to hell. What more could you ask for? Pets, education, fun and karmic points! -

I wanted to respond to the people who have given SaveABunny less than stellar reviews. I took the plunge and became a regular volunteer about 6 months ago. I have personally screened potential adopters, as well as answered the phone regularly. As a volunteer it is not an easy job. People have the misconception that rabbits are easy pets; that rabbits are good pets for kid (not necessarily so), and that rabbits will not chew, dig, or can be trained out of normal rabbit behavior. I have the job of educating people.
What people do not realize is we get calls every day that are really terrible.
Here are some of the situations I have had to deal with recently:
-a man who called because their 3 year old just killed their baby bunny and they want to get another bunny
-a person who called because their rabbits tail fell off (not I am not making this up) and was wondering if maybe they should take them to the vet
- the best one is a the lady whose rabbit became paralyzed and its entire back leg was being EATEN BY MAGGOTS but she did not want to take him to the vet because it was a weekend and the vet cost more on the weekend.
Now we also get wonderful phone calls and almost all of the potential adopters we speak with are wonderful, caring people who want to get an addition to their family. But we are only human. Maybe that week we had a return of a bunny that was previously adopted but returned because the person's new boyfriend didn't like the bunny. Maybe you want to put your bunny outside on your balcony, even though we just spent 10 minutes explaining that rabbits can die of fright or be carried of by birds and since you live in an area with hawks that the balcony would be a death sentence for the rabbit. We try our hardest to be objective but obviously do not always succeed.
We are a non-profit privately owned shelter that is run totally on donations and by volunteers. Unfortunately part of being a non-profit is having to ask for donations. If you did not want to or were not willing to donate a simple no is acceptable without damaging your chances of adopting. We do all of this for the rabbits and do have stringent guideline for adoptions for many reasons, which maybe come across as judgmental (not our intention). We are just trying to ensure the happiness and well being of the bunnies in our care.
As long as you adopt a rabbit from a shelter, any shelter and not a pet store we will be happy.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Marcy (the one who runs the organization) is too judgmental of potential adopters. Also charged me a higher than advertised adoption fee because of medical expenses (which may have been fine if this was explained upfront) and then asked for an expected donation. Felt obligated to (I could feel them making an assumption of how "good" of a bunny adopter I was based on whether or not I left a donation)- didn't like the way this was handled. So NOT interested in adopting from them ever again.
BUT, had an excellent adoption experience at Oakland Animal Shelter (Friends of Oakland SPCA?)! Volunteers were wonderful, helpful, friendly in helping me find my current bunny a friend.Comment from Marcy S. of SaveABunny 4/8/2010

Working with SaveABunny, I've had the pleasure of seeing many rabbits find forever homes. The people in this organization really care, and they do a great job saving rabbits, an often under appreciated animal. Plus they throw great parties! And my buns love their cookie treats. :)
Update May 12, 2009:
Seeing some of the people criticizing SaveABunny in the way that they're doing here hurts, because a lot of people don't realize what a tough thing it is to run a rescue. Some thoughts (from a volunteer):
1) SaveABunny doesn't always respond immediately to everyone because there is SO much to do, and volunteers can be tough to wrangle; there just end up being busier weeks. I know I'm tough to wrangle during periods of heavy works @ school, I can't imagine how difficult it is to wrangle a bunch of people like me!
2) People can be mean to us. Read Marcy's response to person complaining about outreach! I've been to a bunch of outreach and most people we talk to are great, but occasionally there are haters who get off on saying cruel things and trying to make us feel bad. I run into this all the time, people who joke about eating rabbits; I'm not sure where this compulsion comes from but yes, it does make us feel bad. I can't imagine how it is for someone like Marcy and other dedicated volunteers, doing rescue work closer to 24/7.
3) SaveABunny tries hard to find good homes for rescued rabbits, and so naturally we can be cautious about potential homes -- maybe we had a rabbit come back recently. Do we make mistakes? Of course! We're only human! And if we did, and Rabbit Haven or someone else doesn't, then we're still glad in the end that a rabbit found a good home.
Anyway... a little patience please? If you have a complaint, emailing us again and even again after that (remember: volunteer staffers!) might be more constructive than a one-star review.
I once went with Marcy while she visited a sick and traumatized rabbit at the SF ACC to try to figure out the rabbit's chances for life, and if SaveABunny should invest the time, love and energy for this rabbit -- it was a real lesson for me about the strength, love & compassion that is constantly required to do this kind of work. -

My husband and I found a boyfriend for Lashes from Save A Bunny. Someone referred Marcy as the bunny whisperer, and she lived up to her nickname. Marcy and her volunteer staff were extremely knowledgeable.
While the adoption process was very easy for us because Lashes basically picked out her own partner, there is a very thorough screening process. Marcy said so herself that she is very protective of her rabbits.
Small dwarf rabbits get a lot of attention, but Marcy is very adamant about not placing them with families the small children. Dwarf rabbits are more nervous by nature and has higher risk of getting physically injured.
One negative experience was that Marcy tried to convince us very hard to donate $25 for each night that the rabbits stay at her house while she kept an eye on their bonding progress. (She thought they would need to stay for 3 nights) While we believe in the organization's cause, it's not fun to be pushed into something like that. We purchased $80 worth of supplies from her for now and we will definitely keep her in mind next time we are making charitable contributions.
Overall, I highly recommend going to Save A Bunny if you are thinking of adopting a rabbit. It seems like tthere are 50-75 rabbits at any given time to choose from. Even if you don't end up adopting from here, Marcy is very insightful. -

I rescued both my bunnies from Marcy at SaveaBunny (originally Pooh and Diego, now Millie and Nemo, respectively!). I found it VERY easy and smooth during the adoption process. I had Millie first, then I decided to get another. Marcy allowed me to put my Millie through a "dating" process. Millie was very protective of her space, but after an hour or so, she made it clear that she'd like her life partner to be Nemo.
Marcy is very protective of her bunnies. She treats them as her own kids and carefully screens. This is important since all these bunnies come from neglectful pasts. If you don't have the patience to get a short screening, then you're probably not ready to be a bunny's forever home!
Oh, and Marcy looks a lot like Cheri Oteri from Saturday Night Live. Makes meeting her even more fun!Listed in: Pet Care

I love Marcy & SaveABunny. I've adopted 2 rabbits from them over the last few years. I truly believe in their screening process and back it 100%. Some people think they know how to care for a rabbit but they don't and I trust that Marcy does what's best for the rabbits. SaveABunny does great rescue work and I have nothing but praise for them. These one star reviewers are idiots. Period. I can tell they don't really understand rabbit rescue at all. They just want a pet rabbit. I haven't been back to SaveABunny since 2005 so it's not like I'm actively involved with them everyday to give them a good review.
Last week I adopted another rabbit from OAS, which I found through SAB. The collaboration with other shelters is flawless. If someone gets rejected from SAB, chances are there's something wrong with the person or how they plan to "take care" of the rabbit . I am sure these people haven't seen even a quarter of what Marcy has seen some of the most abused rabbits go through. That said, this is one of the BEST rabbit rescues you will ever find. -

People do not realize that bunnies are the 3rd most commonly euthanized furry friends in the shelters - and the reason is that most shelters have few spots for all the bunnies that come in so if they are not quickly adopted or rescued by such rescues as SaveABunny they have no chance of getting out.
I have worked with fostering a number of bunnies for SaveABunny and the experience has been excellent - I highly recommend fostering for anyone considering adopting a bunny on a permanent basis in the future - it allows you to meet different bunnies, learn about bunny behavior and needs and understand that a bunny - like a dog or cat - is a big commitment.
SaveABunny has really comitted people looking for the "right" home and match for every bunny that comes thru their doors - if you work with them for fostering a needy bunny or for adopting one - you cannot go wrong with their knowledge of what is a good match and experience to get you started to having a good relationship with your bunny.
Be sure to check-out their website for bunny care info - many folks do not have a clue that bunnies can be litter boxed trained :-) -

Although I have not adopted a rabbit through SaveABunny, they are a highly respected and fantastic group to work with. I've been fortunate enough to hear their founder, Marcy Schaaf, speak at a several events. She's very knowledgeable and compassionate about many aspects of rabbit care, health and behavior.
They've done some very clever money raising campaigns, including the recent Mr Pinkerton for president. http://mrpinkerton.sav.../
As far as rescues go, I've always been impressed with how innovative and in front of the curve they are too. They have a fantastic website and are always able to provide helpful advice to the public.Listed in: Be A Good Bunny Slave!

You would think that a rabbit rescue agency would be interested in adopting out the bunnies they save. Well, don't look at SaveABunny because they are so particular, and if you don't say the correct things, or have a rabbit who you're trying to pair with, you can kiss off your chances of finding a rabbit at this place. They have rabbits on their website that they have had for almost a year. Doesn't seem as though they are that much in a hurry to adopt their rabbits, now does it? After being nixed by this so called "rescue" agency, we adopted a rabbit from Rabbit Haven in Santa Cruz. At one of the adopting fairs that Rabbit Haven goes to, the director, Heather, helped us match up our rabbit with his soul mate. Our rabbit is a very, very happy bunny and so is his mate!
Suzi H: I can understand your need to defend this rescue agency since you work/volunteer there. However, and I am not alone in this opinion, but your agency is *overly critical* with regard to potential rabbit parents as I have stated. As for truthfulness, our rabbit was physically present when Heather, from Rabbit Haven, paired him up with his soul mate; so, I don't know where your perception of not being completely truthful comes into play here. Hands down, Rabbit Haven is the place to adopt rabbits for us. Heather cares about rabbits and so does her staff and you're right their screenings are selective, but not so critically so much that you don't want to deal with them.
ML S: My experience with SaveABunny was from the perspective of an adoptive rabbit parent, not a volunteer. Because my experience with SaveABunny was not favorable, I stated it here in Yelp as this is the place to enter reviews. Since I had a favorable experience with Rabbit Haven and there are people who look at Yelp for reviews, then if I can share my favorable experience about another organization then it is in the best interest of the rabbits in the shelter and potential rabbit parents. Technically speaking getting people to rabbit shelters, no matter which one, should be your charter, not downgrading the experience of one rabbit parent who had a bad experience with your organization you volunteer at.
My review still stands. -

If you're not serious about adopting a rabbit, you shouldn't come to Save A Bunny. That said, if you're not serious about adopting a rabbit, PLEASE don't adopt one. Save A Bunny is an amazing rescue that is doing great things for homeless, abandoned, and mistreated rabbits from all over.
Let's keep it real- I'd read some of the negative reviews about the selective and intense adoption process that Save A Bunny requires of its potential adopters, and was a little apprehensive. No one likes to feel like saving a bunny's life and bringing them into their home should be more trouble than it is a good deed. But our experience has been nothing like that. For months, my boyfriend and I had been searching for the right female bunny to bond with our bunny Ted. We have visited HRS (we're members), The Rabbit Haven, Humane Societies all over the bay area, shelters, rescues, and adoption shows. While these organizations are fantastic, we found that Marcy's understanding of rabbits and her style of taking care of business suited our needs to a T. We didn't feel pressure or guilt like we had with other places, where you literally feel like bunnies are being shoved in your arms and told to go home with you without ensuring he/she is the right match.
Marcy sat down with us and spent an entire day (literally, from 1-5 pm) helping us find the right match for our bunny, as well as paying attention to what my boyfriend and I were looking for in a rabbit. While she warned us not to be "lopists" (haha) by setting our sights only on lops like our Ted, she also brought out the female lops that were available. Turns out, they were bad matches for our lop! We asked her to go with her gut and she picked out a beautiful, sweet mini-rex girl. They got along fabulously and, while we are just starting the bonding process, it looks like a bright future for us, for Ted, and especially for our new precious little girl bunny.
Fees. We paid $160, which includes the adoption fee ($85) and the bonding boarding for 3 days ($25 a day), which they recommend they handle since they can recognize certain signs and also provide a neutral territory for the bunnies to get acquainted. We were grateful for this, and don't think it's unreasonable. It gave us extra time to prepare at home.
Final notes. Rabbit people can be weird. Rabbit rescue people can be pushy. Marcy is neither of these. We set out to find the right bunny and told Marcy up front that we wanted to be 110% sure we'd picked the right one. She gets it, and that's why Save a Bunny gets our 5 stars!Listed in: Where to Adopt A Bunny in the…

If you are looking for the perfect pet, then check out SaveABunny. This non-profit rescues rabbits from shelters around the Bay Area, neuters them and adopts out to "forever homes". I have two rabbits from the shelter - Belle and Ferdinand - they are litter box trained and have the run of my apartment. Marcy is the amazing lady who runs the shelter and she's very particular about who she allows to adopt a bunny. They aren't the best pet for small children, but make a great "urban pet". Call in advance or email via the website, you have to be a serious adopter to spend time with the bunnies.

So I will admit to being confused as to why anyone would refer to SaveABunny as a "so-called 'rescue' agency." They rescue rabbits. From shelters. Before they are euthanised I have seen said rabbits with my own eyes. In fact, I have cleaned their litter boxes, changed their water and fed them hay. Let me tell you, those are some clean, well loved and impeccably cared for rabbits. Those who have been physically abused or neglected receive the highest, around the clock medical care possible. And those who have been emotionally damaged receive a calm and patient environment in which to heal. Isn't that what an animal recue organization does?
Drawing the conclusion that because some bunnies remain at SaveABunny for over a year means that SaveABunny is not interested in adopting out their rabbits is just as logical as drawing the conclusion that because I am 35 and single, I am not interested in getting married. Just as I have not yet found the right guy for me (okay, I have but we're not married yet), we have not yet found the best forever homes for some of our buns. Adopting a rabbit is making an 8-12 year commitment. If you are put off by an in depth screening process, then why should we believe that you will be a committed and competent bunny guardian? Heck we all know marriages that haven't lasted as long as 8-12 years, and I am guessing the couple went through a pretty rigorous dating process. And if you still have doubts about SaveABunny's desire to re-home their rabbits, check out the Happy Endings section of the website and you can see all of the happy buns who have found forever homes.
Seriously, SaveABunny is a completely volunteer run, privately funded organization dedicated not only to saving rabbits who have been abused, abandoned, and neglected, but also to guaranteeing that a bunny who has not had a fair or good life gets the best possible future, even if that involves a longer stint at our foster center or in a foster home. We are an up-to-date educational resource for all bunny parents regardless of if they adopted from us or not. SaveABunny encourages a sense of community and often teams with other animal rescue groups to promote the welfare of all abandoned animals. Further, we take our rabbits to visit schools, work with the Girl Scouts, participate in the Blind Baby Beeper Egg hunt and visit homes for mentally impaired adults. I am proud to represent SaveABunny at adoption and outreach events around the Bay Area. And where would I be without the adopted-from-SaveABunny loves of my life Nutella, Sean and Lennon Pierre? -

SaveABunny group is extremely inspiring.
Back in 2004. I started visiting SaveABunny foster center in Mill Valley because it is fun to talk to knowledgeable people there. Well, I've visited them often enough to realized that it was more than just learning about rabbits. Thanks to Marcy and her staff, I started seeing things in a big picture, i.e., rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, education, and activism. --- Small changes we make in our lives could help rabbits and other animals.
Ever since I adopted 3 rabbits from SaveABunny, I've made some changes in my life, and I feel better than ever, needless to mention being surrounded by rabbits is very healing and peaceful to me.
I highly recommend visiting SaveABunny and being inspired :-) -

we love save a bunny! our lil bunny, baskin, has been boarded there twice and each time we've had no problems with them. they are truly passionate about rabbits and they have a ton of em too! they are a shelter foremost and they house rabbits that have been abandoned or ones that need to be rescued. you can check out the various rescue stories they have on their site.
for boarding a rabbit, we were apprehensive at first but after meeting both marcy (the owner) and joann (a volunteer) we felt very comfortable with leaving baskin there. baskin, who is normally quite jumpy, was totally at ease w/ joann and right then we knew that she would be fine there. she was given fresh veggies and hay everyday and a spacious x-pen to roam around in. baskin also got plenty of play time so that she could be the rambunctious lil rabbit that she is.
they also have other services like adoption and bunny bonding that we'll look into one day. and for you peeps who have cute, fat lil bunnies, they have bunny boot camp to get your bunny into shape!

I adopted my second bunny, Moe, from SAB about a year ago. Marcy and Joanne were so very helpful in bonding the boys, which can sometimes be a scary process since buns can be really nasty to eachother. I was able to leave the boys there a couple of nights to make sure they would be alright together. Now Moe is Jack's favorite thing in the world and his better pair of eyes (Jack is almost blind).

I adopted two bunnies (so far) from Marcy and SaveABunny. They really care about who their rabbits go home to and try to match the adopter up with the right rabbit.
For folks who think they're walking into a "pet shop" style adoption agency, this is not the place for you. Adopters will be screened to ensure that each rabbit goes to a loving home with folks who know what goes into taking care of a rabbit.
Also, rabbits for the most part, are matched by personality to their prospective adopters. This means if you think you are looking for a lop eared bunny, you could go home with a furry lionhead. Fret not, I assure you, that you will be in love with the bunny you take home.
When I'm ready for the next love of my life, no doubt, I'll be reconnecting with Marcy, matchmaker extraordinaire.
INSIDER TIP: Volunteering opportunities are available at SaveABunny, or you can attend one of their seasonal parties to get to know Marcy and to meet the precious souls she is guardian over. -

I LOVE this organization.... First off, I was opting more towards the cute, little dwarf buns. I have a 7 yr old and SAB said that bigger buns tend to be more calm, especially around children.Hmm I thought, ok! So, I took a look at the buns that were at Andy's Pet Shop (they don't sell pets BTW they work w/ different orgs to rehome) and fell in love with Tutu whom we now call Lulu. She's a medium sized bun. Since then, we have totally fell in love... Our bun is easy peezy! She likes to chill and she gets to have the entire one bedroom apartment although she mainly relaxes in the living room. We let her out first thing in the morning 630am to 1030pm.... Talk about spoiled. Anyway, this org is right about opting for the more bigger buns if you have children rather than by looks. Now, we are looking for a husbun for Lulu (through SAB) and have our first bunny date with a SAB volunteer to assist tomorrow..... yay... hope they like eachother.... if all goes well, my husband and I will build them a 3 level bunny condo.... I LOVE SAVE A BUNNY.... Thank you to all the volunteers and making sure that the buns get placed with the right families instead of having the potential adopter choose the buns by how they look....KUDOS!!!!

Save a Bunny is a wonderful organization, and they are doing a very necessary and very difficult job. I got a wonderful sweet little drawf-lop mix I named Turbo and we are in love. A couple of negative reviewers have their feathers ruffled that they were turned down for adoption (or they know someone who was) and they have the temerity to give a one-star review, which is highly irresponsible. Yes, this is a review site, but get over yourself - there are lives at stake here. Save a Bunny has taken on the responsibility to care for neglected and abandoned bunnies that would otherwise perish in the wild or be euthanized, and they are not about to give one of these refugee bunnies to someone they don't think will have the ability to care for an animal as sweet, mistreated, fragile, and misunderstood as rabbits. In this business, the volunteers at Save a Bunny have to trust their instincts and if you've been denied, you have the freedom to adopt a rabbit somewhere else, but no bunny is going to a potentially neglectful household on their watch - that is their mission. Marcy has given her house, her career, and her life over to save rabbits, which is more than anyone else here can say. She is under tremendous stress to constantly manage the needs of her bunnies, the needs of her organization, and the needs of rabbits about to be euthanized at shelters across the region, not to mention large-scale rabbit rescues like the one recently in San Jose where hundreds of rabbits were found neglected and injured. Bunnies have the misfortune of being novelty pets who are frequently abandoned without being neutered, and the result is an epidemic of unwanted rabbits. These people are doing good work, and hard work. One-star reviewers, take your bile elsewhere.

I have adopted 6 rabbits from SaveABunny over the years as well as other rabbits from various shelter and rescues. I've always been impressed with SAB's thorough screening process and Marcy's bunny bonding skills. Marcy and her volunteer staff ensures that the rescued rabbits find safe, permanent, loving homes. SaveABunny takes on some of the most abused and sick rabbits from Bay Area shelter euthansia lists, giving these deserving creatures a second chance so they can blossom into the indoor companion rabbits that they want to be. The bunnies Marcy bonded for me are the most loving pair of rabbits I have ever seen and the group of 5 she assisted in bonding are just a complete joy to see dance about me. The clicker training and T-touch seminars I attended at the Mill Valley shelter revolutionized my relationship with my rabbits. This rescue is a full service rescue, shelter, education center, social center. Thank you for all that you do for the rabbits in the Bay Area !

This is my first bunny. My boyfriend and I went to SaveABunny we did our home work online through their websites and other useful information. I was open minded what kind of bunny I will get because for me getting along and having the right personality is more important than other stuff. I was looking in to the lop bunnies but Marcy suggested another type of bunny that might be more suited for my level of experience and how active the bunny is. I first looked at the bunny that Marcy suggested which we got a long wonderfully. Just to make sure I also spend time with the 2 other ones I originally was looking for. At SaveABunny they believe in taking time and not rush people (which I greatly appricate). My boyfriend and I were allow to do same day adoption because we have every thing ready ahead of time such as the housing food and rabbit proofing the house (just to list a few). Also we did our home work and pass their Q&A section just to make sure we understood about some bunny caring guide lines. I am extremly happy with my new bunny Chloe (aka Clover).
I would suggest any one that want to get a bunny to come to SaveABunny. (I even got an extra care package for my sister's bunny as reference information)
They are doing great work out there! Keep up the good work for the people at SaveABunny!!

I had a rabbit I got from a local shelter, and went to Save A Bunny to find a second rabbit to be his partner. Pete, our first bunny, came with us to pick out his new friend. They do have a lot of rabbits up for adoption, and they helped me try out a few with Pete to see who he was a good match with. Bonding rabbits is tough, and it was wonderful to have people to call for help when the bonding took the occasional down turn. Marcy is amazingly knowledgeable about rabbits. I was so impressed with my experience there, I have become a volunteer since then! And, it is true, they do screen prospective adoptees. Rabbits are meant to be indoor companion animals, and if you plan on keeping your rabbit in the back yard, you will not be able to adopt from Save A Bunny. But, really, anyone who wants to bring a rabbit into their home to live with and love, and has the attitude that animals need to be cared for and treated with compassion, will have no problem adopting a rabbit from Save A Bunny. And, honestly, how much fun is a rabbit that stays in the back yard, when it is 8PM and raining and you are watching TV? Our rabbits love to watch TV with us, especially if they get pettings while we watch!

I came across Save a Bunny when i was looking for boarding for my almost 15 pound rabbit. Let me tell you, good bunny boading is hard to find, good boarding for giant rabbits almost impossible. Marcy and her crew of amazing volunteers took exceptional care of my "Bunzilla", even though she was not fully spayed and was spraying and very agressive. They even recommended an awesome local specialist to help me get the rest of her hormone factory shut down. Since then I have been working with them to try to find her a companion. Also not easy to try to find a dominant giacantour rabbit a sweetheart (especially when I would really like another big bunny), but they have been really helpful and very knowledgeable. The rabbits get extraordinary care. I could not believe how clean and organized the operation is - very impressive. It's definitely not a place where you can expect to waltz in and walk out with a new pet. Which is as it should be. But if you are interested in a companion rabbit that is a good fit for you, and are willing to take a bit of time to get it all right, I could not recommend them more highly.
