This place seems to have cleaned up its act after the negative reviews on Yelp. My new husband and I had a lovely time riding this boat. The drinks were reasonably priced, the guide was interesting enough, and at about an hour it was just long enough.
While the first half of the trip on the shipping industry in Savannah wasn't riveting or visually appealing to me, my husband couldn't stop taking pictures of all the bigass boats. I much preferred the second half of the tour, which told the story behind the Waving Girl and provided a lovely view of the foliage and skyline.
This wasn't the very best thing we did on our honeymoon, but it was fun and relaxing. We'll definitely check it out again if we ever return. -

Unlike most people here, I used the Riverboat for something other than a tour. We reserved what I thought would be a private room for our wedding rehearsal dinner. It wasn't until we arrived that we realized we'd have to share the entire boat with random people who were there for the dinner cruise. And we paid extra for our tickets! In hindsight, we could have just purchased all of our tickets as regular dinner cruise tix and just sat together.
I wish I had thought to take photos of all the food! It was served buffet style and I scarfed all of mine down since I had hardly eaten the entire day. My husband says he and some of the groomsmen didn't care for the food AT ALL. Since I'm usually the picky eater, I'm not sure if I liked it because it was good or because I was starving?
The riverboat had a live band that broke out some sombreros and maracas and encouraged my husband and his brother-in-law to make fools of themselves on the dance floor. This was actually the highlight of the cruise because everyone in the "restaurant?" got up and started dancing soon after. So being in a big room with everyone wasn't as bad as I'd thought it would be (besides the paying extra for not getting anything extra part).
There is also a full bar on the boat. After a few drinks, we ended our cruise by going upstairs to the deck and watching the other boats on the river pass us by as we docked. We might have also pulled up I'm On A Boat on someone's iPhone and had a sing-a-long... maybe.
So I guess the Riverboat Cruise experience is really based on which tour you take. I think any cruise at night is probably better than during the day, but the prices are really steep no matter what. -

On a recent weekend in Savannah my friend and I booked the evening ghost cruise. We were disappointed. Don't bother. The sightseeing might be better, but skip the ghost cruise.

This is a riverboat cruise. We took the sightseeing tour and it's on the river. Ok this means you are going to cruise the river you are not going to see plastic bears from Disney's making music. You are going to sit out on the deck and enjoy the riverfront or you can sit inside the air conditioned section but you are still looking out at the river front.

I don't know what we were expecting - freaking Porgy to sidle up to the boat on a raft singing 'Southun' tunes?! What idiot tourists we were signing up for this. YES, as Mary F. stated - unless you are into industrial product transportation, this may not be the tour for you. I too, recall that the scrap metal was being sent to China. Savannah to China - wow, what greater inefficiency is there? We spent $40+ for the two of us to learn about the shipping industry in the overcast, listening to screaming toddler, kinda cold. Lucky we didn't get sick. Oh, well. Now we know. It wasn't God Awful, and at least the hubby and I suffered and learned together. :) Maybe the other tour options Savannah Riverboat Cruises has might be better...but definitely skip the "Narrated Sightseeing".

I too am really disappointed that I didn't Yelp this before I decided to go on this "tour". I drafted this review on my iPhone while I was on the tour. The boat left a half hour late so we were left to sit out in the hot sun with "riverbugs" flying in our faces. The cruise was supposed to be 90 minutes long, but since we left a half hour late, it ending up being only 60 minutes (thank goodness). The captain pointed out a few sights of ship junk and metal scrap yards and then turned on some jazz music and said enjoy the ride. There was no tissue in the ladies bathroom. You are not allowed to bring your own food or beverages and after being on the boat in the sun you are nearly forced to pay $2 for a Coke and $3.50 for a hot dog. As I sit here and look around everyone looks bored. People were literally lined up ready to jump off the boat as soon as the captain announced we were going back to the dock. The captain was not entertaining or informative. Be aware that there are NO REFUNDS! Just don't waste your time.

OMG, What a terrible waste of time and money. I booked the dinner cruise based on the company's website. Everything except the location and the riverboat was misrepresented. We arrived at the venue and boarded the boat. The boat was well maintained and clean. We were seated and given a drink menu. My wife ordered their signature drink (high price-large souvenir glass).Their web page implied an elegant dining experience. The reality was third rate buffet. The website offered prime rib, reality was overcooked tri-tip and pork tenderlion. The meat was well seasoned but the server did not know the first thing about his job and sliced the tip improperly.Their signature dish "seafood au gratin" was a gooey mess of overcooked scrap seafood in pinkish-orange buerre-blanc,,,,,,ugh! My wife got her drink , out of glasses! No price reduction, we offered a stenciled water glass as a replacement. IT GETS WORSE! The "live" entertainment was an old guy on a keyboard with a synthesizer singing worn out 70's music and ballads. It was like something out of a SNL skit. You know the one with Bill Murray as a no talent lounge singer singing "Feelings". After the singer butchered the first few songs and ruined them forever my wife and I escaped the dining room for the top deck. Enjoyed laughing at my terrible mistake and my rotten impression of Bill Murray.
