I just ordered one of their calzones becuase i recieved a buy 1 get 1 free coupon. It was not that good, which makes me realize why it was on sale. There was barely any chicken in my sandwich and wayy too much bacon (which wasn't well cooked). I feel much worse now and feel like going home.
The second one was for my mom, a vegan. I explained the guy on the phone not to put ANY CHEESE because she doesn't eat it. Of course they had to get something wrong. There was no cheese inside the calzone but wouldn't you know it THEY SPRINKLED CHEESE ON TOP!
I would have called and complained but i decided not to, only because the second one was free.
i wont be calling them again.
After seeing their adds all over the CTA I decided to order a pizza from them last night because I was hungry from working out and I had to do homework (typical student). I was looking forward to what I knew was going to be a really tasty pizza.
Boy, was I disappointed. Same, run of the mill, fast-food pizza. No better than Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, or Domino's. There was barely any sauce on the pizza (which explains the dipping sauce on the side) and all the vegetables were the same texture/taste. +1 because the pepperoni was a little crispy which I like.
Ordering online is awesome and I really wish that I had enjoyed the food because any place I can order from online gets kudos in my book. But the pizza was just so unremarkable, and I was so disappointed (especially for what I paid for it), that I just cannot salvage this review.
I love Sarpino's. It has become my #1 option for pizza delivery. Why? Two big things. #1 - their online ordering system is out of this world! You can customize your pizza to a level of complexity that other pizza places would scoff at, or even hang up on you! The delivery is very fast, too. #2 - the options for ingredients! Unbeatable. My favorite is the Sorrento, but I always substitute sundried tomatoes (instead of fresh tomatoes), which - again - is SIMPLE to do online.
My only complaints about Sarpino's are minor. #1 - I wish they would load up on the ingredients more, since they are so delicious! #2 - The pizza is a little big on the greasy side.
But overall, a big thumbs up to Sarpino's!
In a city full with family run and local pizza joints I'm not sure why people order Sarpino's. I'd put them in the chain category with little ceasars and papa johns'. It's not terrible but I prefer a more local place really
I ordered from this Sarpino's one time. Large vegetarian pizza, mozzarella sticks an order each of garlic breadsticks and cheese breadsticks.
The dough, cheese and vegetables were bland. It tasted just like frozen pizza. Not even as good as some you get in a grocery store. The batter on the mozzarella sticks didn't stay put. Every vegetable had the exact same consistency and shape. That's definite signs of being frozen.
I ordered a second time, thinking it had to be a fluke.
I was wrong, everything was the same. Sarpino's was not sufficient. For what you get the cost is too high.
Soooo happy that Sarpinos's is in the Evanston area now. The greatest part of this place is the number of specialty pizzas options. Seriously, the selection and variety of ingredients is absolutely insane.
I'd say the pizza quality is on par, if not better than a place like Papa John's. What I really love though is their garlic breadsticks. Sooo good. Prices are okay too.
I had 1 pepperoni, 1 cheese, and 1 sausage pizzas. I didn't like any of the 3 pizza. The sausage was too salty. The cheese was more like dough without cheese. The pepperoni was the best out of the 3 but still wasn't that great.
I know I can not expect much from $5-$7 pizza but I would rather buy Tombstones frozen pizza over Sarpino after I gave Sarpino a 2nd chance.
This place is very clean. That is why I gave it 2 stars.
In last night's delivery, I tried the calzone. You get a reasonably sized (by which I mean not immense) calzone for $7. That's the small size; the large is $9 and probably more than you need, but someday I'm going to say "Oh, what the hell." So it's not the greatest calzone value out there, but I appreciate the move towards moderation, and the quality is high. I got the Italian sausage (with green peppers and onions), and it was very well balanced, with not too much dough, and a nice parmesan/herb sprinkle on top. Overall B+.

Wow, excellent pizza. We got a 14" Tuscany (chicken, tomatoes, artichokes, red peppers, garlic, and… Read more »
Sarpino's a lot of comparisons to Papa John's for some reason, but they really are not similar at all. Let's take a look at one of the fundamental differences; Papa John's is generally gross, while Sarpino's actually tastes really good. See, it is night and day. If Papa John's didn't get people hooked on crack-laced garlic butter, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
I've ordered from Sarpino's about a dozen times now and I'm finally writing a review. For a chain, the pizza is really good. Delicious crust, sauce, and quality ingredients. You can build your own pizza or select from a list of about 20 "gourmet" pizzas. With the exception of the taco pizza, which should be avoided unless you are extremely into sour cream, everything that I have tried has been excellent. Probably the best pizza so far has been the classic Italiano, which is pretty basic. It is hard to be adventurous when selecting a pizza here because they all sound pretty good, but they'll all set you back about 18 dollars for a medium. It is expensive, but you'll taste a big difference between the pizza here and the 12 dollar pizzas from the places that skimp on toppings, cheese, and quality.
I've also had a few calzones from here. The ham and cheese calzone is really good. They use the same great crust from the pizzas I think, but folded up around ham, pizza sauce, and Cheddar then baked and sprinkled with the standard fake Parmesan cheese. The meatball calzone is also acceptable, but a little dry. I recommend a side car of marinara for either. I've also had the spaghetti with meat sauce, which is really good for delivery. The pasta is a little overcooked, but the sauce had a really unique flavor that I can't quite pin down, but really enjoyed.
You can order online, they are open late, and they have a friendly staff. Spend the extra money and treat yourself to a better late night pizza.
Got delivery from this place a bit ago. Meh, meh, meh. Nothing special, it was late and overpriced....definitely won't be getting delivery from them again.
today i order some buffalo wings from this place. It took them 1hr to deliver even though according to Google maps i live 12 minutes away. The wings were gross and tasted very fake. I would hate to see what there pizza would taste like.
Variety is the spice of life here! The selection of pizzas is incredible. They have gourmet pizzas, but they also have over 30 different choices of toppings. You do the math, that's like over 900 different possible combinations. Not a good place for someone with an indecision problem. I got a small personal pizza with hot italian sausage, jalapeno, and cilantro. It was under $6. I was given a discount, even though I did not have a coupon. I will definitely order again. It is nice to have a new choice for pizza in Rogers Park that delivers.
2 stars on the pizza snob rating is not that bad. This place is comparable to Papa Johns or some other similar pizza. I would say it is slightly better, but also more expensive. It was a little greasy but not too bad. Each pizza comes with a dip too. A couple of things were actually nice about this location. They actually use the caller ID so they don't waste your time with the whole asking you for your number part of it. Also, they had some special take out special that they gave me without me asking, or really without even telling me. I thought that was nice as other places have often tried to overcharge me when I specifically did not mention the take out special.
Beats the Evanston Papa John's hands down for the following reasons:
1) Cheap as hell and marginally more tasty
2) You can park
3) Ordering by phone is easy
4) Coupons/discounts always available
5) Toppings are good and ample
You go here to get a bunch of pizza and eat until you pass out. When you feel the need, Sarpino's will be there.
