Sariling Atin no longer exists, since it's been renamed Mynila Grill and was recently renovated and turned into a restaurant/pool hall by the same owner...But I remember when Sariling Atin first opened a few years ago and being that it's literally a couple of minutes away from my house, it was pure heaven to know there's authentic Filipino food right around the corner. I would go in the morning to get some bomb ass tapsilog or longsilog for breakfast, or some kare-kare or lechon for lunch, and adobo or sinigang for dinner....and it was just delicious! I would always time my visits to when they freshly cook the dishes so I get first dibs at them. The cook they had back then was awesome!

Then slowly their selection dwindled and the quality of the food wasn't quite the same. The butch lesbian with the unibrow working the counter became rude as hell, and suddenly I just didn't feel like going there anymore. It didn't help that they were closed by the Health Dept. for a couple of days for health code violations. Soon after, they had new management and a different staff altogether but it just wasn't the same anymore. And now, the original owner runs the place again under the new name and has tried every gimick in the book to get customers in there, from karaoke to putting in pool tables....but the food isn't as good anymore. Most customers that go there are Filipino uncles at night hanging out away from their wives and getting wasted on San Miguel beer and singing "My Way" on the magic mic, or playing pool till midnight....

Oh well, good thing there are tons of other good Filipino food joints around the area. R.I.P. Sariling Atin.

First time ever I laid eyes on Filipino food is this place. Never turned back again ever since.

This is place is underrated, for my opinion. The peeps that work there are cool fellows. Even though I'm not Filipino, they still treat me like one of their kind. Man, I love the food here. You get plenty for the dirty cheap price you pay for. I think this was the restaurant where I tasted chocolate meat for the first time. No wonder they gave me the crazy look and wondered I liked it. Truth is, I didn't even know it was blood till recently Wes told me, I thought it was just kind of black soy sauce mixed with other ingredients. It was delicious and still loving it.

I'll definitely come back here again if I'm in the area, I missed it.

i hit this place up once with some fellow filipinos, and all of us were looking for some good home cookin'. while the food we DID eat was delicious, they were out of one of the dishes we wanted and forgot to give us the other one. so three stars on an off day. :(

Good and cheap Filipino restaurant (turo-turo style) in the Albertson's shopping center.  Nothing that makes it stand out from the array of Filipino eateries that blanket the Amar/Azusa Road region, but still pretty good.
