It's been VERY hard for mr to find someone that can do my hair. But Sarah at Sarah's Studio Salon in Lincon Park was AMAZING!!! She did exactly what i was asking...and my hair came out BEAUTIFUL!! I'm new to the area and will be only using her. I give her 5 stars, and will tell Everyone about her!
her prices where very fair also!!
VERY PLEASED!!!
Thanks Sarah, You did a wonderful job on the Mess i had!!
Rachael~
Overall I was pretty happy with my haircut. I didn't get anything too drastic - some new layers, a little bit of a trim. But I was happy with the results.
Conversation wasn't fake - that's a big plus for me. She also gave me some good tips for if I am dying my hair myself (how to not mess it up too much). Very much appreciated.
Only sort of weird thing - I paid by paypal? And since I had an account she billed me by my email. So, that was just a little out of the ordinary. I mean, hey, it works, but just something you might want to know in case you want to bring cash or a check instead. She takes it all.
Give her a try though. Very thorough styling job as well!
I think Sarah has a PHD in hair. Seriously. Girl has got it going on...
My hair has never looked so shiny, bouncy and nice when I have left a salon. She is so reasonably priced and I love the quaint little shop...she listened to exactly what I said and executed it perfectly.
Def a good place to stop in...Sarah is very funky and cuts/colors a mean head of hair!
Very flexible with evening appointments.
After trying several hairdressers in Chicago, I finally found the perfect hairstylist for me. Sarah is awesome! Since I have naturally jet black, thick Asian hair, getting highlights done is hit or miss. Most places insist on lifting the black all the way out & toning in the highlight, which leaves me with a weird faded out semi-blonde mess after a few weeks. But Sarah knows how to do highlights. In one process, she lifted my color & placed in beautiful caramel highlights that last me months. Plus, she gives the best haircuts as well. I have had people complement my hair two months after my original haircut because your hair grows into great styles afterwards.
Sarah's prices are very reasonable--$140 for a full set of highlights + a cut. I believe a cut is $40 & a partial highlight is $80. If you're a first time customer, she throws in a cut with the color. In addition, Sarah keeps your color formulation stored in her computer so she knows exactly what to do each & every time.
I should note that the salon itself is very tiny. Nothing frou-frou, but it is clean. I'm just happy that I found someone I can trust to do my hair!
I love Sarah! She does a terrific job and really takes her time. She is VERY resonably priced. I got my highlights and cut by her and would highly recommend her to anyone.
It is an individual studio, not a busy salon, so it is nice place to relax or read one of her 20 magazines!
The only down side...you have to schedule a weekday appointment, but she is very flexible and is willing to stay late to accomodate your schedule.
Sarah is very good with hair; she knows what you're looking for AND how that works for you when you show her a picture. She will be honest and tell you what's not going to be fitting about a haircut, and unlike many hairstylists she's not big on fake filler conversation. She concentrates on her job and is very thorough. I've gotten many compliments for the haircuts I've gotten by her-- even trims. The prices are very affordable considering the neighborhood and competition; I would bet Sarah's cuts are far better than most of them anyways!
I agree with Jenny; Sarah is awesome. I had a hard time trying to find a stylist that listened to me. In addition, Sarah takes her time to do a good job. Plus the prices are reasonable. Instead of paying crazy prices at an upscale salon, you end up getting more at Sarah's for cheaper. First time clients will either get a $10 off their first haircut or get a free haircut when you get a color, not a bad deal at all. I can't say enough about Sarah...
WOW, NO. I was thinking of checking out a new place and after the reviews here I decided to try out Sarah. I brought in pictures of what I wanted and she was so excited saying how much pics helped her, well, what she did looked NOTHING like the picture (and I'm not stupid, I wanted the highlights, not the look of the model, I know the difference). The fact that it took her 3 hours total is also a huge turn off. I'm off to my regular stylist to fix the mess I got myself into ...
Very small studio but it is just her. Feel free to bring food, your dog....show up in PJ's. She also will schedule you very late at night (doesn't work weekends). Since I was a new client, my haircut was free with highlights/color. She charged me 80 for highlights (partial). I have dark brown hair and can't stand when my color looks red/brassy. She didn't use a toner in my hair which concerned me. As for the haircut, she did fine. I have long hair and usually get layers. Most people cut my hair the same way, same technique. I tried to explained to her what they have done and she didn't know the technique. As for my color, I can see a little Red....and hope it doesn't turn brassy in a few days. I really needed my hair done but was low on the money. I think she is great if you can't afford or are tight with money...and really need to get something done. If I can afford 180 bucks on my hair....I might not see her again.
I would strongly recommend that you not use this salon for thermal reconditioning! I agree Sarah does a good job with hair cuts, but she does not know how to do thermal reconditioning (japanese straightening). I found her prices reasonable for this service but I was so unhappy with the EXTREMELY DAMAGED hair I ended up with as she overprocessed then had to do it again. My hair was fried and was not straight or sleek like it should be! This service requires a serious understanding of the process and must be done very carefully, otherwise the damage is irreversible and you end up with serious breakage. Buyer beware, the price may be right but the experience is not there to do a quality job. Most dissapointing was her attitude when I expressed my concern, she really could care less that my hair was breaking and fried. This is a bad sign for a stylist!
*i had to choose a star*Where do I begin? Oh the fact that Sarah is colorblind? I went there today with my cousin to get our hair done...the price *seemed ok* only because it was a "deal" NO I TAKE THAT BACK NO PRICE IS WORTH SCREWING UP YOUR HAIR!!! She RUINED both our heads.... my cousin had an apt @ 12pm so she went first in her little dumpy salon...my cousin asked for a full head of highlights to brighten up her already light brown hair....And asked for a cut...which then turned to be a horrible MISTAKE...the highlights did not even TURN OUT and i was there to witness SARAH SAID NOTHING! there was not a single light straind *she asked for blonde and it literally faded into her hair..then sarah chopped off 3 INCHES OF HER HAIR GIVING HER ABSOLUTELY NO SHAPE!!! Now my turn in beauty school flunky Sarah's chair...i just wanted a dye and a trim...she recommended a cool violet dark brown...the violet would be very very subtle--i understood i gave the ok ...BIG MISTAKE THE SECOND SHE WAS DONE washing my hair my head was BRIGHT PURPLE!!!! AND I have DYE ALL OVER MY FACE that she didnt get out!!! my scalp IS GLOWING PURPLE!!!! I dont care if her service would be for free... I rather pay 100$ at mario tricocci and get that done right! im going to anyways to have them fix what this flunky did to me!! i have a conservative job environment and it looks like i am a punk rock girl or an idiot! oh and she "says" she takes credit cards...bull sh*t she had to call her husband which was just shady and gave him my number for a "pay pal" acct. thankfully i didnt have one and hopefully it didnt work so i had to give t his woman cash.... DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT GO!!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!
** update so i contacted my credit card, and asked if i was charged...nothing appeared on my acct, exceot a dollar service charge which american express disputed...but it ran and then she voided it somehow....ALSO the man who i talked to on the phone with American Express said "i have never heard a merchant using pay pal for a service" so he put a mark on her acct and they are watching her---** so beware of any salon or anywhere (except ebay or online purchases i would think) that they use "pay pal" i think there are regulations with pay pal about this
