Sapori's was amazing last night!!  I took my girlfriend of seven years here, and it is definitely a place we will return to.  From the appetizer all the way through the cello at the end of the night.  The waiter, James, really knew how to take care of his customers.  I always have a hard time remembering names of dishes, so it's hard for me to go on with that.

They had an octopus appetizer as a special that was amazing!!!  I was on a whole other level than calamari.  Being a BYOB it helped us save a lot of money.  We brought a bottle of white wine, and it was finished by the end of the night.  She had some type of pescatore over risotto that had such a great sauce on it!  Mine was a pasta special that was mother watering good!  We split the cheesecake at the end of the night, and were given two lemon and chocolate cello drinks by the waiter!

All in all, a great experience.  Will definitely be back!

It really burns my britches that I am not the first to review Sapori! My family and I have long been fans of the restaurant. Here are the facts:

1. The food. The food at Sapori is inventive and delicious. Top of the line ingredients handled with care. The menu staples are all delicious, but the chef really shines with the specials. It is to the point that we rarely open the printed menu anymore - instead we wait to hear about the lengthy list of specialty items on any given day. Don't forget to try the Creme Brulee cake when available - it is incredible.

2. The service. There is a dedicated crew that has been working at Sapori for some time. The level of professionalism that they bring to the front of the house is inspired. Whether its James, Anthony, or Vincent you can be assured that you'll be well taken care of during your dining experience. It's also probable that you'll benefit from a visit from chef/owner, Franco, himself.

3. The ambience. The restaurant was handcrafted by Franco himself - it is impeccably designed and benefits from the artful touches of his family.

4. You'll want to call for a reservation on the weekends, but we generally prefer weeknights for a more relaxed pace. Lunch at Sapori is also great!

Sapori is the best restaurant in Collingswood by a stretch, and for an upscale but still relaxed BYO you'd be hard pressed to beat it in the Philly area.

I totally agree with the other reviewers here - Sapori is delicious, the food is fresh, well-prepared and Chef Franco (as well as the other staff) are friendly and gracious.

Having moved to the area from San Francisco a couple of years ago I am always on the lookout for spots whose service and quality rival what we left behind and Sapori certainly fits the bill.  Try it - you won't be disappointed - and if you are, Franco will fix it.

As with all of the restaurants (and some of the shops too!) in Collingswood, Sapori is BYOB.

this is one of the absolute best restaurants - not only in collingswood - but in south jersey.
every dish is prepared perfectly, with great care and attention to detail. the chef comes out and talks to everyone, which is just further proof that he really cares about everyone's food!
i've been here twice, and eaten fish specials both times. screeeeamingly good. crazy good. wildly good.
i've never been to italy but i'm pretty sure this is what real, authentic italian food is supposed to taste like.
try the carpaccio. and leave room for dessert!

Pretty, friendly BYO on the main drag in Collingswood a pleasant surprise when we got shut out at our original choice down the street.  Chef Franco Lombardo seems to be a magician as he spends a lot of time in the dining room smoozing and soaking up the girls gushing, he's Italian, he's charming, he's good looking and he can cook his ass off.  But he disappears into the kitchen as he swears he also cooks your food.  What a guy!. Whoever is cooking, the southern Italian food is done with subtlety, it can be done, and finesse.  Excellent mussels, beans and sausage, bitter broccoli, pastas all great.  And if was a chicken I'd will my thighs to Chef Franco if he promised to make them in his mushroom  pistachio crumb sauce.  Pretty amazing dish for a chicken thigh.  A really enjoyable time on a rainy night.

Our visit here was a mistake but what a great mistake it was. The food was incredible, everything that we had we liked. I ate here with my wife and sister and we did the whole shebang, appetizers, meal and dessert, nothing disappointed us. I loved this place and we will be returning on our next trip to the east coast.
