I love this bookstore. It's locally owned and operated, they appreciate repeat customers with a frequent buyer program, and they have a great selection. They will also special order anything you want.

On several occasions I have wandered in, trying to figure out a present for someone. I have always walked out successful (and they'll even wrap it for you).

I can't state it strongly enough: support your local (great) bookstore!

New bookstore!! Yippee! Santoro's opened up in May and is related to Second Story Bookstore in the Wallingford Center.
Events, author readings and of course, books.  Great little place for gatherings.

They sell new books. There's a table of used books left over from the old Second Story, but they tell you that won't be their focus. It's small. Half the store is adult, walk down a few steps and the other half is children's. It's got purple carpeting. Actually, considering that it isn't large, the selection is well thought out, with bestsellers (of course) and a nice selection of Pacific Northwest titles. You probably won't find something obscure, but you can keep "up to date" here.
