Review Highlights
I grew up in Chicago, but being the son of immigrants meant that it would be 14 years until I would try a gyro. That said, every time I step into Santorini's I feel like I'm stepping into any greek cafe back east - the gyro is delicious and the greek fries are amazing. I've been coming here for years now, and I've tried 4 things (gyros, friends, spanikoptia and chicken gyros). The gyro is easily the best one in the Seattle area.
Beyond that, the owner is super friendly, and you get more than your money's worth!
A long-time family favorite, this little place that closes down in December (until when I'm not sure, mid-January?) so its owners can spend the holidays back in Greece, is really pretty good.
We've been going there routinely since it was a small Greek grocery store. Their original salad dressing was to die for, but I think they've switched to a commercial version that can't compete with the homemade of years ago.
I like the gyro and/or chicken souvlaki salad with side pita the most. In the summer, it's nice to add a cold beer.
The only downside is they are cash only, but it's a great place to stop especially if you're heading to the waterfront.
Delicious, cheap Greek food. I got the gyro plate and a side order of pita with hummus. The gyro plate came with a ton of meat, pita bread, rice (hidden under the meat), and a large Greek salad.
The hummus was actually kind of bland and really wasn't anything special. The gyro meat though was delicious, and the tzatziki was fantastic and very garlicky. The pita bread was fresh, warm and soft. The rice wasn't anything amazing, but it was pretty good. The Greek salad was good and covered in feta cheese and Greek dressing. Mmmmmm.
So this place was a little bit hit or miss, but the most important parts (the gyro meat and tzatziki) were excellent. Definitely worth going to, especially when you consider how inexpensive it is.
Stingy with meat. Souvlaki meat is bland. Salad dressing is sugar water. Owner is rude. Rice is white with pilaf, no spices. And it's 2009--who doesn't take credit cards?
On the upside, food comes out very fast, and it's cheaper than most of the nearby restaurants. If you're in a rush and want a cheap gyro, it's not bad.
LOVE it!!! This place is CUTE! Killer location, has a Seattle vs Eastside feel. I love the open air floor plan. The owner is very humble and nice. I had the Lamb Salad... Not your ordinary salad thats for sure. SO fresh, crisp and with the lamb and feta, it was a perfect healthy lunch. The meat is really well done... tons of spices and good texture. Seemed to me a very well thought out meal. I cant wait to go back here :)
After attempting to eat here 3 times (due to a friend's recommendation), and failing due to it being closed on a Sunday, a private party the second time and some sort of fridge breakdown the third time, we finally got in last Saturday.
It was very reasonably priced. $36.00 and we got an Appetizer Plate, a Beef Souvlaki Plate, A Gyro Plate and two import beers. That's not bad!
The meats were both great and so was the salad... mmmmmmmm!
The hummus was lackluster, but the tzatziki was the best I have ever had.
They do take checks, weird huh?
You should check it out!
Fantastic gyros right in downtown Kirkland. Add feta! Despite it's small size, the friendly staff does a good job of getting out orders quickly.
Cash only and closed on Sundays.
Everything is good.
I get sick - food poisoning - every time I go there but it tastes good going down!
So that's good, right?
The gyro meat was really bland tasting, had no crispy bits, and was cut unusually thinly. The sauce was good. The prices were far higher than I expected, so I didn't have enough cash to get a drink or fries in addition to my gyro platter (I had $12). Far better gyros are available in the U-District and Lake City for cheaper.
CASH ONLY
oh. my. gawd.
massive quantities of delicious, garlicky goodness for under $10. Creamy, tangy, tzatziki sauce that you'll want to spread on everything in sight, including your significant other or crush-of-the-moment.
Limited seating (maybe 25 seats?) and long lines makes this a place you shouldn't go if you're in a mad rush. But why would you want to rush through such a good thing? Slow down, savor the Gyro platter, or if you're short on dough, just get a Gyro sans platter.
Just be sure to pack some breath mints.
This restaurant is OK. It's the standard Greek fare.
I had not been to Santorini's in a while, and suddenly became in the mood. I ordered the gyro plate and was surprised by the portion size
The gyro meat was delicious and the pita bread was fresh.
Do not order this if you have a date or business meeting after (or trip to the dentist office... unless you want to have the dentist finish quickly). :) Lots of garlic!
Then the price was a surprise, very inexpensive. I urge others to give them a try, I look forward to a return visit.
STILL the BEST in Kirkland....heck, still the best Greek food anywhere.
I can't wait 'til they reopen, I've missed that perfectly seasoned gyro meat that melts in my mouth!!!!
Don't even get me started on the tzatziki, I've been known to lick the container and would gladly swim in a vat of it if given the chance!!!

This is "THE" spot for Greek food on the Eastside. Its so good, I dont even have to make the drive… Read more »
I don't care how good the food might be. Attitude is everything. Of all people to be rude, the owner simply lacks class. Will never get my business again nor that of my friends who feel the same.
Every time I come here, I promise I will try something else on the menu, but I always go for Gyros. The gyros here are unpretentiously good, the meat tender and juicy, pita bread tasty, sauce tangy.
Love this place, best gyros I've ever had. Parking is a pain, and they only take cash or checks so be warned. I usually get the lamb gyro dinner plate with an extra pita. Yum!
I am in no way an expert on Greek cuisine... and am in no way even qualified to say that this is the best Greek food in town. Even if I did just spend four days on the island of Santorini not more that 5 weeks ago. Up until the trip my only concept of Greek food was feta cheese, lamb gyros, lamb kebob ala souvlaki, and baklava. Needless to say, my Greek culinary palate was blown wide open when I went to Greece and found out that there is SO MUCH MORE to their food than what I have just mentioned. I'm telling you that not only do they have the lamb, but they have the beef, chicken and pork for their gyros, kebobs and souvlaki!!! That's right 4 types of meat to choose from... WOO HOO!
So, when I went to the Santorini Greek Grill yesterday for lunch I was surprised at how "authentic" it was. Right there on the menu it clearly states that you have your choice of beef, chicken, pork or lamb! Not only do you have your 4 basic meats, but you have your choice of Gyro, Souvlaki or Kebab! Right then and there I knew I was in for a treat. I mean, where else can you get "authentic" Greek fair?!?!
Ok... all sarcasm aside. This isn't the bestest (yes, I used bestest) place in the world for "authentic" greek food. But, I can tell you that the lamb is utterly fantastic. When I took that first bite of my lamb souvlaki the memory of my first meal in Greece came rushing to the old frontal lobe and I swear, for that one brief moment, I was back on the island.
I had lunch with 3 other people from work (two of which are fellow yelpers) and we all did that thing where you take your first bite... and you make those happy eating noises and mutter stuff, with your mouth full, like "oh my god... wow... that's so good... mmmm... oh jesus"... and then you keep stuffing your face.
Now, if they only sold Mythos Beer they would have gotten that coveted 5th star.
I had a Souvlaki sandwhich recently and it was pretty good. Being Greek and living in Greece I can say it was very close to authentic. (don't get lettuce in it if you want authentic) The place is small but great for a quick bite. There are a few seats outside which is where I sat. Highly recommended if you are in the area!
I see the line out to the door all the time during lunch time. I finally try it today a little bit after lunch time. So, it is not as crowded with steady foot traffic. The gyro is good and fair priced. No wonder people will line up for it. I will definitely go there more often.
OK, first off let me just say that I am 100%, born and raised Greek. I moved to Seattle over 2 years ago and I have been searching for the most "authentic" Greek restaurant to eat. So far my quest has lead me to a few places that I thought were OK...not great. This was one of them.
Let me also add that I meet the owner, Stavros and we became friends but my review is honest. Sorry Stavros. This place is OK. For folks in Kirkland seeking Greek, you can't do better. If gyros is all you seek. But was it the best I ever had...not even close. So my quest continues. I have been to several places. This is my first review...so read on.
PS: The "spinach pie" actually was not bad as I recall but a bit pricey.
Everything is very good. Try the lamb. Try the salads. Oh, and you have to try the fries. OMG!! **Best fries ever**
***1/2. Very good place - not mind-blowing, but very good.
This is Greek fast food. They run the same way a food court restaurant does. You order at the counter, go to a table, and you get your food freakishly fast. But, unlike most food court places, this food is interesting. Here's the breakdown:
Gyro plate - The gyro meat was actually the least inspiring part of this dish. It wasn't mad, but it was a little on the thin side, in constitution and taste. Tzatziki sauce was creamy and pleasant, and pita was warm. The salad was exemplary, especially the dressing, and was my favorite part of the dish (a rarity). Portions were impressively big.
Falafel plate - Served with the same salad as the gyro plate. Falafel was crispy, well-seasoned, and garlicky. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was strong.
Greek fries - A pleasant surprise! I ordered them on a whim and was glad I did. Standard-cut 'taters in a lemony reduction of some kind with sprinkles of feta. Artery-hardeningly delicious.
Dolmatas - A $1 order for two served with tzatziki, this made for a nice appetizer. Dolmatas are either good or they aren't, and these were good.
Service was friendly, and while the price was definitely outside of food court range, two people had a full meal with appetizers and drinks for under $30.
Kirkland should be proud to have such a cool place.
Good Greek food. I thought the pita was kinda bland but otherwise my gyro platter was spot-on. I thought the rice was particularly good, and the lamb was not greasy and very tasty.
The prices werent bad.
Cash only. What can you do about that. There is a bank down the street.
A Greek deli in the pretty Kirkland downtown area. Its like an upscale quizno's inside but the food is really good. I had the lamb gyro, a friend had the falafel and another a souvlaki. $6 something for a hearty tasty gyro is money very well spent on lunch. The gyro salad is big enough for two. Souvlaki is always a great choice-who doesn't love skewered kebabs?! well , vegetarians maybe .
I woudn't say the best Greek restaurant cos its not really a restaurant, but its perfect for a great Greek lunch.
Cash only, so get some cash lest you have to visit the atm nearby and pay more transaction fees than what your gyro costs.
Ate there twice this week while in Seattle for a wedding. The first time I got the Lamb Souvlaki, which was pretty good. The thing that really did it was the Greek fries, they were killer. The Avgolemono soup was pretty damn good too.
Then I went there again today for lunch and tried the Gyro, because once at this place wasn't enough. The Gyro was probably THE BEST I've ever had. And thats saying a lot, because I've found myself eating a Gyro drunk on the street several times, and we all know food tastes way better when you're drunk. But even sober this was the best Gyro I think I've ever had.
Go to this place, its worth it. And be sure to try the Greek fries.
A yummy gyro plate with garlicky tzatziki and hot sauce was perfect on a drizzly day like today. The meat was thinly shaven, the salad was tasty, but I wished there was more than one olive in it.
The owner of this place is so freaking nice! I love going here... the food is very authentic and super fresh always.
There's a new mediterranean place opening in Juanita Village soon (next week!??)
yay :)
Santorini is the only reason I ever have cash on me. Hands-down the best gyros in the greater Seattle area. The staff is super friendly (check out the constantly overflowing tip-jar for proof). This is NOT a sit-down-with-a-menu-and-appetizer place; it's an order-at-the-counter-and-wait-for-a-delicious-gyro place.
My only complaint is that the place is randomly closed for days/weeks at a time for completely ambiguous reasons. One out of every 5 times I walk by there's a sign that says something like "Due to uncontrollable circumstances closed until next week" (when is "next week"??) or, the classic one I saw last November: "Closed until January" (2 month winter vacation??)
Otherwise: awesome.
I've been on a long quest to find the best gyro I can drive to on my lunch hour from the Eastside. This spot ranks high on the list. Consistency is key in a place and I've never been let down. There's always a line (don't worry, it goes fast!) for a reason. I give them the nod for possibly the best tzatziki in the business- super creamy, not overpowering, delish! The meat is tasty and they put lots on as well. Felafel's is good- on the spicy side. The owner is very attentive and on top of things, even during a lunch rush on a sunny day.
They're also walking distance from the water and have a few small tables on the sidewalk. I wish I could give a 4.5, only holding back because I have had meat that was more flavorful in my search for the best Eastside gyro and the cash only thing. Parking is also a mess when it comes to Lake Washington Blvd.
Delish and definitely worth stopping in for!
The best Gyros ever, without a doubt. I miss this place and haven't been here since I moved to California but I used to go here at least once a week. They have the best food, the friendliest owners, and a great location.
I'm not sure what's up with this place, but people seem to be givin' out 5 star ratings like kittens.
Well - this place deserves it. As the chalkboard says inside: "Forget Viagra, have a Gyro"
Gyro plate is reccommended.
P.s. to those with someone to impress: Grab it to go and head across the street to Marina Park. Don't forget something to drink and baklava.
Garlic Fries!!! Oh how I love garlic fries!! Seriously..everything is sooo good here.
I walked in and started up a conversation with the owner...got my food for free cause I said "I love Greek food" in Greek. :)
It sure paid off that I learned some necessary Greek words when I went out with Mr. Athens.
I hate fetid (feta) cheese, so imagine my surprise at liking the Greek Fries, which are nice crisp fries with lemon juice, garlic, and finely-shredded feta. Weird. It was like I was a different person or something. What is not at all weird was that I really liked the lamb skewers. Duh. I LOVE Greek-spiced lamb!!
My husband had their beef/lamb gyro and seemed to like it fine even though he doesn't much like lamb, and my stepdaughter had the chicken gyro plate which seemed to be just OK to her. Total with drinks was under $30.
The restaurant was clean, attractive, and not super-busy when we went in, though a big crowd arrived after us and everyone was still served pretty quickly. The owner was friendly, as were his clearly non-Greek staffers.
I didn't check out the restrooms.
Parking is tough here; cough up the dough and park in the city lot half a block away.
I don't know why someone said that they accept credit cards; I tried to pay last night with my debit card and they were clear; CASH or LOCAL CHECKS only. So that info provided by someone else is wrong and you should be prepared accordingly.
This place is cash only. Cash! Who carries cash?
People who eat at Santorini's, that's who.
As I worried my way through my lamb gyro, I glanced at my coworker, who had gotten his with double meat.
"Do they leave out the vegetables to give you twice the meat?" I asked, showing him the inside of my gyro, which was PACKED WITH MEAT.
He'd just finished his, so he pondered a moment and said, "I don't know what they could leave out; the thing is delicious."
And so it was.
This place is a favorite of ours. The management is friendly and they are able to get orders out quickly! This place has to be one of the best restaurants in Kirkland. :)
Great food and fast service. They do not take cards, bring cash.
Having traveled the world in search of the perfect Gyro I was blessed to find Santorini Greek Grill. For once, the reviews and the press this place gets were justified.
The food is made with quality ingredients and truly is a slice of Greek perfection. The pita is soft, warm and tasty the meat is well seasoned and the Tzatziki is genuine and well built. I have always had a great meal here and truly love this place, it is one of my top Gyro places in the world.
I highly recommend this place is you are down in Kirkland walking the wonderful streets and looking for a great place to grab a bite while shopping.
I guess I will try this again sometime to see if it lives up to the reviews.
The line to get in was long but want by pretty quickly. I ordered the chicken Sluvaki (sp) plate, with a side of Hummus and Pita. The staff of three behind the counter was working there hinnys off for sure but the chicken was waaaay over cooked and dry, and not especially flavorful.
The side of Hummus was forgotten until I mentioned it to the (owner?) person behind the counter, no mark downs for the hummus issue, I am pretty understanding that things happen.
I just felt that the food was only okay and I really wouldn't make a special trip back.
For the record the lettuce, and cucumbers were all very fresh. The hummus was okay, not great.
Maybe it was just the Friday lunch time blues.
Just went back again for a Gyro. Hadn't had it in years. I thought I had died and gone to heaven! The meat melts in your mouth... I love meat!

I think 5 stars is what is deserved for the type of joint it is and the prices. Here are my lists… Read more »
Before there was Vios, before there was Divine, there was Santorini. When we first arrived from Australia and were craving Greek food, we got a recommendation to try Santorini. Of course at that time I was never on the Eastside unless ... well I was *never* on the Eastside ... but we made a special trip just to get some gyros or souvlaki.
And Santorini did not disappoint. The gyros plate, the greek salad, the fresh feta, the gorgeous olives, and now I'm salivating.
Now I'm in the 'hood all the time, you'd think I'd go to Santorini more, and I wish I could eat it more often. One day I'll stop this diet stuff and go for it. Urgh. :)
