4 reviews for Santa Barbara Inn
Across the street from the sparkling blue ocean.
Plush down comforters with featherbeds cushioning your body.
Wireless internet at no charge.
Bottles of cold water at no charge.
Continental breakfast overlooking the ocean at no charge.
Lovely old-world gilt decor in the hallways and fun old fashioned elevator.
$152 a night and around the corner from where my 2 days of grueling meetings and overall event was taking place...!
This was an amazing deal of a hotel. Friendly service, loved the free wireless and water (esp after returning from Europe where we paid $40 for 24 hours of LAN internet access and $11 for a small bottle of water, I KID YOU NOT!)...the bed was huge, posh, amazing. Thank you for not putting some nasty ass floral comforter on it..and keeping it all white, crisp, clean with soft, often-washed sheets in a high-thread count.
Overall, the rooms could be spruced up a wee bit decor-wise, and my view was of some back neighborhood area, but the *value* here was amazing...esp considering last year I spent $200 and stayed at some ramshackle inn about 3/4 of a mile away from my event. This was a much smarter pick.

I booked the SB Inn b/c from the reviews and pics it seemed to be a decent place. And at about $120 a night, it didn't seem to be a bad deal to be by the beach. The location was nice, but the hotel was old and it was like, it was like picture a 45 year old dressing like a 20 year old. yeah, sort of like that.
It was old, but you can tell they tried to "update" some of the features like beds and such, but the bathroom fixtures were still old and worn. Who ever did the spackling in the shower did not do a good job and it resembled chewing gum.
Although, I will say that the shower pressure was awesome. It was like being under one of those waterfall showers.
the breakfast was eh. We ended up going downtown for breakfast most of the time.
check in process was fine except that the nighttime guy was sort of a d*ck. rude. Did not dig the $7/day parking charge, so I parked across the street.
check out was fine.
Like the other review says, nothing fancy, but I didn't intend to pay for the musty smell in the room either. our windows weren't exactly soundproof, and being close the railroad tracks, that can be an issue. The windows were older, like the kind that "folds" on top one another like blinds, but with panes of glass.
Good place for families due to location and price but if you are in SB during the low season, such as now, I think you are able to find better deals.

I loved this hotel. The room rate was cheap mid-week, and I was not excited by the exterior, but get a-load of our room and that room service. Truly a great value. The ocean winked from outside the window. The room was fairly large, as was the cushy white (ty for not being tacky) bed, and the room service.. well, we took a picture of it, THAT is how great their restaurant is.

SB hotels are generally a rip-off, but this one's a great value. Nothing super fancy, but there are really comfy beds, crisp white bedding (none of that chintzy Victorian crap), and some rooms are poolside or have ocean views. It's on Cabrillo, which is about as close to the beach as you can get in SB (without paying about four times more to stay at the Bacara or the Four Seasons). It's a bit of a trek to get to State Street, but just a few minutes if you're driving. Free Internet, free breakfast (with surprisingly delicious, ultra-rich croissants), and though you could pay $7 to valet, there's plenty of free street parking nearby.
